  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Maisie Williams Hints HBO Exec Lied About Filming Multiple Endings

“Game of Thrones” character, Arya Stark: The 20-year-old actress implied in a televised interview that HBO’s programming president, Casey Bloys, lied about the show filming multiple endings.

Williams was a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday night when the late-night host asked her about Bloys having said they’d shoot more than one conclusion to the series as a way to keep spoiler-happy fans off track.

“Well, I heard this and I immediately thought, ‘I don’t think we’ve got the budget to shoot lots of different endings,’” she said.

Kimmel responded, “Well, he’s the president, so he would know if you have the money or not.”

Williams had a trump card for him, though.

“But, as we know, sometimes presidents don’t always tell the truth,” she said, making Kimmel laugh and acknowledge her point.

While we don’t know if we can trust either Bloys or Williams to be truthful with us regarding Season 8, we are inclined to put our faith in the actress. She did admit to showing her mom the final scripts, which is against the rules, after all.

After this interview, Williams might be in hot water with Bloys.

“Game of Thrones” Season 8 is coming in 2019.

  • Dany + Ygritte: ‘Game of Thrones’ Fans Love Emilia Clarke’s New Post With Rose Leslie

Jon Snow knows nuthin’ about his girlfriends’ lady love.

“Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) plays Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) current love interest as we enter the final season. Rose Leslie (Ygritte) played Jon’s first love, and she’s now Kit Harington’s real-life fiancée.

Don’t go thinking there’s any rivalry behind-the-scenes, ’cause Emilia and Rose may love each other more than they love Kit. (Sorry, man.)

Check out the adorable photo and caption Emilia recently shared:

Emilia Clarke is truly the queen of Insta hashtags. More than 2 million fans and costars have liked that sweet photo so far.

You have to imagine that Emilia must leave her friend in New York City to return to Belfast to continue filming “Game of Thrones” Season 8. Hopefully that’s the case, anyway. You never know who’s not going to make it.

(On that note … Sophie Turner, are you about done sunning in the Maldives? Doesn’t Sansa have work to do?)

Rose Leslie currently co-stars in the CBS All Access series “The Good Fight,” a spinoff of “The Good Wife.” Season 2 premieres March 4. “Game of Thrones” Season 8 will continue filming into the summer for premiere in 2019 on HBO.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Now Filming 12 Weeks of Night Shoots: ‘It’s Just Huge’

Three months of night shoots? Seven hells.

“Game of Thrones” is currently filming its final Season 8, and will continue taping into the summer. You have to imagine they’re trying to capture the real winter of winter, and then the “dream of spring” in the warmer months.

Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) is now promoting her new movie “Early Man,” but while reporters have her, they always ask for any “Game of Thrones” details she’ll share from the final season.

On Monday, Feb. 12, Williams talked to Metro from Belfast, Northern Ireland — where GoT is based. She teased some “huge” sequences ahead, and revealed her initial reaction to the final scripts:

“For the final season as a whole it was just so impressive. My first real thought was, ‘Oh God, we have to shoot this now.’ And it is kind of an impossible challenge. It will be really difficult.’

I am currently on my way to a night shoot, which is week 4 of 12 weeks of night shoots. It’s just huge. The task is huge. But, there’s no better way to leave the show, to be honest.”

Williams said she knows there’s a “huge amount of pressure” on the HBO show to finish strong. “I’m glad I don’t write the show.” No matter what, some fans will be disappointed. That’s just the way of it.

But we’re intrigued by the 12 weeks of night shoots that are now underway. Watchers on the Wall has spoilery details, if you’re interested in what is being shot. Or you could try to keep your eyeballs pure until Season 8 finally arrives in 2019.

Actually, we should be getting the official trailer before then. It’s hard to say when that might show up, since the filming schedule is so extended — from fall 2017 to summer 2018 just for six episodes. Hopefully we get some kind of tease in the next couple of months.

Maisie Williams voices Goona in “Early Man,” which opens February 16th.

  • Did That Doritos Ad Confirm a ‘Game of Thrones’ Theory? Peter Dinklage Responds

Peter Dinklage‘s Super Bowl ad was LIT with spoiler speculation.

As you know, the “Game of Thrones” star promoted Doritos Blaze in an amazing rap battle commercial with Morgan Freeman. The ad’s “fire” and “ice” played well with GoT themes — maybe too well.

    SPOILER THEORY ALERT

The commercial showed Dinklage with fire on his shoulder, and also breathing a bit of fire like a dragon. To some fans, that played into the theory that Tyrion Lannister is secretly a Targaryen — Daenerys Targaryen’s half-brother through the Mad King and Joanna Lannister. This theory may or may not ever come true in the novels or the HBO series, but the commercial fed speculation.

HuffPost asked Dinklage about the speculation, and he gave a pure “bless your heart” response:

“I love every single theory the fans of our show have, because they’re so much fun. They get to show the dedication and love they have for the show, but you have to understand that it is a Doritos commercial.

It’s not ‘Game of Thrones. So [fans] are sort of stretching the limit with that theory when you’re branching out to Frito-Lay commercials. But I say that with all love and respect. Please, I love them. I love the fan theories that they have until the show is finally over.”

It was definitely a stretch to think that a Doritos ad would get to spoil a “Game of Thrones” lineage twist. Then again, it was also a stretch to think Dinklage would say anything else. The Tyrion theory could still be true, but it’s not like he could ever say “Yep, you got it.”

There are only six episodes left to the entire series. The GoT Season 8 scripts are done, and the episodes are being filmed now for their debut in 2019 on HBO. The truth is out there, at least for Dinklage’s TV version of Tyrion. We may have to wait longer to see what author George R.R. Martin has planned.

  • Peter Dinklage & Morgan Freeman Rap in This Epic Super Bowl 2018 Ad

This is the true Song of Ice and Fire!

Super Bowl 2018 commercials are starting to hit the web, and this one is both fun and totally unexpected.

To promote Doritos Blaze, “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage reps Team Dany proud with his fiery lip sync rap to Busta Rhymes’ verse on “Look at Me Now.” For his part, Morgan Freeman gives a surprisingly perfect Missy Elliott “Gut Ur Freak On” lip sync to promote Mountain Dew Ice. The real singers also have nice little cameos in the ad.

Watch the “rap” stars in action:Legends only!

Just play it again and again. We can only bow. Jon Snow only wishes he were this cool — literally. But, as one fan suggested, maybe Dany and Jon should do the next Ice and Fire rap battle in advance of the “Game of Thrones” Season 8 premiere in 2019.

The Super Bowl and its must-see commercials start airing this Sunday, February 4 at 6:30 p.m. EST on NBC.

  • Which Emmy-Winning Cable Series Will Return With a Shocking Pregnancy?

Fans have their sleuthing hats on for TVLine‘s new blind item teasing an “unlikely” upcoming pregnancy.

Here are the details (the pic above is just a stock photo, don’t read into it):

“Rumor has it a wildly popular, Emmy-winning series on a premium cable network is plotting a pregnancy twist that promises to be… surprising is an understatement. The plan — which, as always, is subject to change — is for the character’s baby bump to be unveiled when the show in question makes its anticipated return in (ugh) 2019.

Suffice it to say that the unlikely pregnancy will have more than a few implications, both dramatic and darkly comedic. Oh, and you’ll probably make an immediate assumption about the identity of the baby daddy. But you know what they say about people who assume, right?”

Many fans quickly guessed “Game of Thrones,” but it’s probably not GoT. For one, the final GoT scripts were done a long time ago and they started filming the premiere back in October. There’s no “plotting” or “subject to change.”

For another, who on GoT would have a “darkly comedic” pregnancy that would be shocking? Cersei Lannister already announced her pregnancy last season, then lost the baby that would’ve been her fourth child with her own twin brother. Some fans think they mean Daenerys Targaryen, but that seems too obvious and not shocking or “darkly comedic.” Also, if Sansa Stark were pregnant, and not with Ramsay Bolton as baby daddy — if that’s too obvious — then who would be the father? Littlefinger?

GoT guesses don’t seem to fit as shocking/darkly comedic, but we still hope they mean these two:

A “Big Little Lies” character could be pregnant before Season 2 shows up with *Meryl Streep* as Perry’s mom. Maybe Nicole Kidman’s character Celeste is pregnant, not with Perry’s baby? Not sure how that would be shocking or darkly comedic, though. No one else would qualify as shocking either.

Here’s guessing they really mean “Veep,” with Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) pregnant in her 50s.

That would be surprising, and everything on “Veep” is darkly comedic. It would pit Selina against her daughter Catherine (again) and maybe Gary could be the father?

All of the guesses are for HBO shows, which may be a false trail of its own. If you want to join the speculation, check out TVLine’s comments and place your own bets.

  • Watch Eddie Redmayne Try to Get ‘Game of Thrones’ Spoilers out of Maisie Williams

Oscar winner “Game of Thrones” fans everywhere. When the actor was given the chance to embarrass his “Early Man” co-star Maisie Wiliams during “The Radio 1 Breakfast Show” on BBC Radio 1, he opted instead to try to get her to spill Season 8 spoilers.

As a guest on the show, Williams had agreed to participate in their Heart Rate Monitor Challenge, meaning host Nick Grimshaw got to interview her while she sat in a hospital bed, attached to — you guessed it — a heart rate monitor. Grimshaw then did his best to fluster Williams, enlisting the help of her boyfriend, Ollie Jackson, and her flatmate and “iBoy” co-star, Bill Milner. Their contributions both led Williams to share hilarious misadventures, but the real treat came at the end.

Grimshaw brought in Redmayne and asked the actor if he knew any “horrible stories” that would sent Williams’s pulse racing. Redmayne immediately declined to take that track and took a much better one.

“I don’t know about the horrible stories, because I thought, well, basically, it’s just about ‘Game of Thrones’ spoilers,” he said, making the day of all “Game of Thrones” fans listening.

Redmayne then jumped right into it, hypothesizing that Williams’s character, Arya Stark, will end up leading the Seven Kingdoms. He and Grimshaw did their best to analyze the actress’s response, but to be honest, they weren’t able to glean much from her changing heart rate. We did like Redmayne’s creativity, though — particularly when he suggested that Arya and Hot Pie (Ben Hawkey) will “get it on, become a thing, have kids, the full works.”

Watch below; Redmayne’s joins around the 6:18-mark.

“Game of Thrones” Season 8 premieres in 2019, while “Early Man” hits theaters Feb. 16.

  • Maisie Williams Says ‘Shallow Industry’ Limits Her Roles After ‘Game of Thrones’

A Girl deserves better than to be denied roles, and her fans deserve better than to be denied seeing her range after “Game of Thrones.”

Maisie Williams, now 20, has been playing Arya Stark on HBO’s biggest hit drama since she was 12-years-old. It hasn’t always been easing growing up in the public eye. But she’s now in her final year as Arya Stark, looking to her future as an actress. She told the Irish Times it’s been a rude awakening to learn what aspects of that future are blocked to her, and why.

“It’s only now I’m starting to realize the characters that are available to me because of the way I look and the characters that aren’t available to me. It’s a very shallow industry. And I don’t look like someone who is cast in roles that are, well, sexualized. Don’t get me wrong. I’m completely in awe of Hollywood’s leading ladies. I love looking at those totally jaw-droppingly beautiful women. But I think it’s sad that you only get to see one type of beautiful on screen.”

Hear, hear. And can we add that it’s refreshing that she’s not taking the angle that she herself should have to change to fit into the existing industry? She recognizes the problem is on the shallow end: Judging performers primarily for a certain look instead of what else — everything else! — they can bring to a role. So many stars (male and female) end up just following the lead of casting directors and agents and try and change their looks to match the current expectations. Otherwise, they won’t get work. Well, it’s time the expectations changed.

Not that Maisie seems to be aiming for roles that are “sexualized,” she just realizes that kind of sexy/hot archetype is what the casting folks want. This is not the first time she has brought up how the industry is still primarily focused on casting for “hotness,” as if being “hot” is a personality trait of its own. Here’s what she told the London Evening Standard back in 2015:

“There are a lot of roles that come in that are ‘the girlfriend’ or ‘the hot piece’ in a movie or TV series. That’s something I’ve seen first-hand and read all the time. It will say ‘Derek: intelligent, good with kids, funny, really good at this’ and then it will say ‘Sandra: hot in a sort of cute way’ — and that’s all you get. That’s the way your character is described, so going into an audition you are channelling ‘hot,’ which isn’t like a person, that’s not who a person is. That’s what I see and that’s what needs to change. I’ve been lucky enough to play a very great female character from a young age, who is a fantastic role model for girls.”

She saw that and spoke out about it three years ago when she was still a teen. That’s such a good sign for the future — if anyone listens to her. Jessica Chastain recently mocked the “hot” obsession in a funny “Tonight Show” video, showing it’s not just Maisie who deals with that vague industry mandate.

Thankfully Maisie Williams is still getting roles, including in “The New Mutants,” now coming out next year, and a voice role in “Early Man,” which will be released in theaters on February 16. The final season of “Game of Thrones” will premiere in 2019.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoffs Won’t Show Up Until ‘At Least’ 2020

Two or three more winters may come before a “Game of Thrones” prequel premieres on HBO. It is known.

“Game of Thrones” Season 8, the final season, is now filming and will keep filming into the summer. It was recently confirmed by HBO that the six episodes won’t premiere until 2019. Keeping that date in mind, it means none of the planned prequel spinoffs will arrive until at least 2020.

As you probably remember, there are five prequel series in the writing stage of development. Those prequels will cover author George R.R. Martin’s stories set before “A Song of Ice and Fire,” the novel series upon which “Game of Thrones” is based. GRRM is working with all of the writers on what he prefers to call “successor shows” rather than spinoffs or even prequels.

HBO programming president Casey Bloys gave The Hollywood Reporter a spinoffs update during the recent Television Critics Association’s winter press tour:

Let’s start with the Game of Thrones prequels. What’s the latest?

There are five of them. If we do a pilot and series, nothing is going to air on HBO until at least a year after the final season. We’re not doing a final season and then, “Following it at 11 p.m. … .” I’ve seen some exciting material. We have really great writers working on these; it’s very exciting. But there’s no timetable. Not everybody is on the same schedule, so I’ve seen different versions of different things that are potentially exciting. But there’s no timetable about when a decision would be made about any of them.

Can you discuss any of the storylines that are being explored?

    No!

In success, do you have an idea of just how many you’d do?

I’ll do anywhere from zero to five! (Laughs.) Though probably more likely one. But we’ll see.

Bloys further confirmed to TVLine that no existing GoT characters will be featured in the prequels, but there may be familiar bloodlines — meaning members of the great houses we’ve come to know.

The HBO boss did previously say that “Game of Thrones” is the priority, and they won’t do much of anything on the spinoff front until that series is done. So that’s why they don’t expect any one of the potential new series to show up on the network until “at least a year” after Season 8. It sucks for us, but … at least we can look forward to something once GoT withdrawal sets in.

  • Brad Pitt Was Willing to Pay $120,000 to Watch ‘Game of Thrones’ With 2 of Its Stars

PITT-JAPAN-US-FILM“Game of Thrones” fandom — at least when there’s philanthropy involved.

The actor attended Sean Penn’s annual gala supporting relief in Haiti at Milk Studios in Los Angeles on Saturday night, where he made a huge bid. During the auction, Pitt offered $120,000 to watch an episode — one single episode — of “Game of Thrones” with stars Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington, according to Variety.

Both actors were at the event, so they got to witness it all. Funnily enough, Harington wasn’t actually included in the original prize, which started at $20,000; the auctioneer got him to agree to join after Pitt had already bid $90,000. Once Harington committed, Pitt went up to $120,000. That was as high as he would go, though, and ultimately, some other “Game of Thrones” fan with deep pockets won by bidding $160,000.

Paying six figures might seem insane to even the most devoted “Game of Thrones” fans, but at least the attendees were bidding for a good cause. The event brought in $4 million for J/P Hatian Relief Organization and its nonprofit partner organizations, the Associated Press reports.
