Everyone needs to start somewhere and for a lot of Hollywood stars, their first big break was in a low-budget horror film.
You already know that Kevin Bacon got skewered in the first “Friday the 13th,” and that Jennifer Aniston had to defend herself from a murderous sprite in “Leprechaun.” But you might not have seen some of these future Oscar winners and superheroes’ early films where they had to pretend to be terrified of parasites, critters, vampires and (the horror!) evil corn.
With all the hubbub surrounding the casting of Ben Affleck in next spring’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” it should come as no surprise that Batfleck will be a prominent part of the flick — and according to director Zack Snyder, he’s going to have more screen time than Henry Cavill‘s Superman.
Snyder confirmed that fact in an interview with The Daily Beast, in which he explained that it was necessary to feature more of the Caped Crusader in order to establish his new character in the context of the burgeoning “Justice League” empire.
” … [I]t’s a different Batman than the Batman that was in the Chris Nolan movies, so we have a little bit more explaining to do—and you just had a whole Superman movie,” Snyder told the site. ” … [Y]ou need to understand where Batman is with everything. And that’s more toward the beginning, but it evens back out as it goes on.”
Still, that doesn’t mean that “Dawn of Justice” is entirely Batman’s show, and the titular twosome will indeed have plenty of time to play off of one another throughout the flick, the director said.
“They’re actually opposite sides of the same coin,” Synder told The Daily Beast. “It’s interesting because Batman’s a man and Superman’s a god, if you think about it in those terms. So their relationship is very contentious. What Superman sees as Batman’s limits, Batman sees as Superman trying to control him, acting like an absolute dictator. … Their conflict is based on each others’ understanding of the other’s weakness.”
Like the previous trailer, that premise sounds pretty dark, but if anyone can play with that theme, it’s Snyder. We’ll see how it all shakes out when “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
Adding a dash of Salt-N-Pepa’s “Shoop” to any trailer just gives it that something extra. We suspected as much watching the amazing “Deadpool” trailer and now here’s proof, courtesy of a fan who re-cut “Man of Steel” with more humorous footage that includes the necessary “Shoop.”
Some viewers weren’t too fond of the self-serious, somber tone of Henry Cavill‘s “Man of Steel” and a Youtuber called solyentbrak1 showed that the movie DID have potential to be at little bit more fun in a new trailer made “Deadpool Style,” taking a cue from Ryan Reynolds‘s upcoming R-rated movie.
Here’s the new 2 minute, 27 second trailer:
Are you effin’ stupid?!
Superman isn’t exactly the Merc with a Mouth, so maybe this doesn’t quite fit with the heroic character, but it’s still pretty impressive. Wouldn’t you want to see this movie? Here’s the “Deadpool” read-band trailer, in case you want to compare the two.
“Man of Steel” came out in 2013, and Henry Cavill returns to the role in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which is out March 25, 2016. “Deadpool” will be released February 12, 2016.
If the action shots in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” look amusing, just imagine how entertaining it was to film them!
“It was just so much fun to be outdoors and sprinting around on motorbikes … or in a boat,” the film’s costar Henry Cavill, who plays Solo, tells Made in Hollywood. “It felt fun.”
Even when filming started to weigh a little on the cast, there weren’t moments they frowned upon from the experience.
“With a lot of action days, they can be slightly tense,” Cavill explains. “But again, [director] Guy [Ritchie] is really great about breaking that tension and making the whole thing enjoyable. And not wasting time!”
Catch Cavill and fellow star Armie Hammer in theaters today, as opposing agents who put aside their differences to help stop a mysterious international criminal organization.
When asked about how he maintains his impressive physique during a chat Wednesday on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the “Batman Vs. Superman” star’s cheeky response implied that the gym isn’t the only place he prefers to break a sweat.
“I run, that’s the savory answer,” the 32-year-old responds, with a wry smile. As the audience laughs, nervously, he adds, “I think they get it.”
Blush.
The Brit heartthrob generally stays in shape year-round for movies, but during a hiatus, he also takes a break from his diet. “I tend to be off-season,” he says.
“I work really hard at getting fat,” he explains, adding that he begins shooting DC Comics’ “Justice League” in January. “I put weight on and lose it again before we start shooting… If I’m mass building I’ll eat burgers and stuff.”
Right now, for instance, βThe Man from U.N.C.L.E.” star is about to begin his off-season, so he’s keen on having a cold Guinness beer, something that he says he craves when he’s on a diet.
As for how he’ll burn off those calories later, well, he’ll let you use your imagination for that.
“The Man from U.N.C.L.E” is in theaters on Aug. 14.
If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.
Look, being Superman isn’t easy. Between the pressure to have a six pack and the pressure to, like, save lives all day, The Tonight Show,” who literally uttered the phrase “your arm is the size of my leg.”
Reba McEntire also showed up on “The Tonight Show,” and decided to “close up serenade” an audience member. It was weird, but also amazing.
Late Night” to chat about playing a crack addict in “Southpaw,” and discussed the awkward time she got to set and everyone assumed she’d already been in hair and makeup for her “crack addict look.” Well, that’s enough to traumatize someone.
Connie Britton also hit up “Late Night” and reacted to Amy Schumer‘s “Friday Night Lights” skit. Turns out Coach’s wife and her glass of wine was Britton’s idea, which is the best news ever.
Finally, Conan” and wasted no time discussing the fact that she looks just like Justin Bieber. And also, she told Conan he looks like Tilda Swinton and Meryl Streep. Er, that’s a compliment, right?
There’s no question that “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” packs a punch in the looks department. The Guy Ritchie-directed film stars Henry Cavill and equally handsome Armie Hammer as opposing agents who put aside their differences to help stop a mysterious international criminal organization.
But where the film gains in eye candy (you also can’t forget about gorgeous starlet Alicia Vikander), does it lack in everything else?
Rotten Tomatoes gives the fresh take on the popular β60s TV series a 64 percent rating, with critics arguing that the fashion in the film is fierce, but the acting and plot are subpar.
“‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ is an action movie that’s a little bit ashamed to be an action movie. It’s a seduction played out on the audience, and it works. It may a thin, it even may be a little forgettable, but it’s a good-time film for a good-time evening, and leaves you with only the sexiest sort of guilt.” — William Bibbiani, CraveOnline.com
“It’s the type of film that’s more interested in having side characters say pretty things like ‘I’m on a strict diet of champagne and caviar,’ and making sure model-like hotel clerks submit within minutes of casual propositions, than it is in its main story.” — Lindsey Bahr, The Associated Press
But for some, the film is near flawless.
“It is one of those rare birds that manages to take the source material and do right by its predecessor, while having its own fun creating a unique avenue of enjoyment. The chemistry between the three leads is magnificent, and the film doesn’t run so much as glide through its entirety; taking you, the audience, along for the ride.” — Mike Reyes, CinemaBlend.com
We get our first glimpse at Gal Gadot as Diana Prince, meeting Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne, as well as an intriguing image of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor — with hair!
The most tantalizing photo features the two titular superheroes, of course, as they face off against one another.
“I like to think that Man of Steel was the perspective of the world from Clark, Kal-El, looking at the world and trying to exist with in it,” Cavill tells EW. “‘Batman v Superman’ is definitely more mankind’s perspective of Superman.”

Here’s the official synopsis of the movie:
Fearing the actions of a god-like superhero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be a part of Warner Bros.’ big Hall H Comic Con panel, and we’re hoping some more footage emerges from there.
