  • Former ‘Hawaii Five-0’ Star Grace Park Cast in New ABC Series ‘A Million Little Things’

After deciding to exit “Hawaii Five-0” last year, Grace Park has another TV gig lined up.

The actress is headed back to television in the ABC series “A Million Little Things,” Deadline reports. She has been cast as Katherine, a role played by Anne Son in the pilot that has now been recast. Park will now star alongside David Guintoli, Ron Livingston, Allison Miller, Christina Moses, Romany Malco, Christina Ochoa, Stephanie Szostak, and Lizzy Greene.

Park’s character is reportedly a working mother trying to excel both at work and home. She’s part of a story that focuses on several friends living in Boston whose lives are very different but who all feel like they’re in a rut. They’ll reexamine everything after the unexpected death of one of the group.

Before joining the upcoming series, Park starred as Officer Kono Kalakaua on “Hawaii Five-0” for seven seasons. She and cast mate Daniel Dae Kim both chose to leave in June 2017 after trying to negotiate for salaries equal to their co-stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, according to Variety‘s sources at the time. “A Million Little Things” is her first major TV role since.

The upcoming ABC drama is written by DJ Nash and will premiere this fall.

  • Scoot McNairy Signs on for Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’

The cast of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” seems to include half of Hollywood already, but it keeps growing.

Scoot McNairy has officially joined the Quentin Tarantino-directed film, Deadline reports. He’s set to play a TV character on a show within the movie, the cowboy Business Bob Gilbert. The film centers on a TV actor who is trying to transition to movies. The infamous 1969 Tate-LaBianca murderers also tie into the story.

In signing on, McNairy has joined a cast full of high-profile actors. His co-stars include Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Timothy Olyphant, Luke Perry, Damian Lewis, and many others. He’s in good company, to say the least.

McNairy has kept busy in both movies and TV over the course of his career. He starred in AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire,” appeared in “Fargo” Season 3 and Netflix’s miniseries “Godless,” and will be one of the leads in the upcoming “True Detective” Season 3 on HBO. His resume also includes roles in “12 Years a Slave,” “Gone Girl,” and “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” among many others.

  • Ewan McGregor Joins ‘The Shining’ Sequel ‘Doctor Sleep’

Danny is not here, Mrs. Torrence — at least not the version we saw before.

The upcoming movie “Doctor Sleep” will return to the life of young Danny Torrence, the boy we saw go all “Redrum” in “The Shining.” Telling that story, of course, requires someone to play Danny, and the actor who will do the job is Ewan McGregor, Variety reports.

“Doctor Sleep” is based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, which was a sequel to his 1977 novel “The Shining.” In 1980, a film adaptation of the first book was released starring Danny Lloyd as Danny Torrence. He appeared alongside Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, and Scatman Crothers. Although “The Shining” has come to be hailed as one of the greats in the horror genre in the decades since, a follow-up hasn’t been made.

With McGregor joining “Doctor Sleep,” the project takes another step forward. His casting was approved by King, per Variety’s sources. In the role, McGregor will show us what has become of Danny since the horrific events at the Overlook Hotel and we’ll see him try to deal with his powers.

Mike Flanagan will direct “Doctor Sleep”; the film doesn’t have a release date yet.

  • James Marsden Set to Star in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Movie: Report

The “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie cas may be starting to come together.

News about the film began rolling in quickly this week. Roughly a day after That Hashtag Show reported on May 29 that Paul Rudd was in the running to star as Tom in the upcoming video game-inspired action flick, the outlet reported that he was, in fact, no longer in consideration for the role, per Paramount. Now, the latest is that James Marsden will star in the film, as sources tell Variety.

The report didn’t specify whether the “Westworld” actor would take the role of Tom. The character is said to be a police officer who works along Sonic the Hedgehog to stop the villain Doctor Robotnik. Whether or not Marsden plays Tom, though, he’ll take a break from cavorting with androids and instead run around with a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog.

The movie is based on the Sega video game series that debuted in 1991. It will blend animation and live-action as Sonic works to bring down his nemesis.

The “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie is slated to open Nov. 15, 2019.

  • ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 2 Adds 4 More Returning Cast Members, 2 Newcomers

The list of “Big Little Lies” cast members — returners and newbies alike — continues to grow.

With several Season 1 stars already locked down, the cast still wasn’t complete. Six more actors have now reached deals for Season 2, Variety reports. Among them are Kathryn Newton, Sarah Sokolovic, Robin Weigert, and Merrin Dungey, all of whom had roles in the first season of the hit HBO drama series. Additionally, Crystal Fox and Moe McRae are joining “Big Little Lies” for the first time.

The four returning actors will all reprise their roles, with Newton and Sokolvic reportedly being promoted to series regulars in Season 2. Newton comes back as Abigail Carlson, the oldest daughter of Madeline Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon), while Sokolvic again plays Tori Bachman, whose husband became romantically entangled with Madeline. Weigert and Dungey will continue to recur as Dr. Amanda Reisman and Detective Adrienne Quinlan, respectively.

Fox joins as a regular, taking on the role of Elizabeth Howard, mother of Bonnie Carlson (Zoe Kravitz), according to Newsweek. Meanwhile, McRae will reportedly play a teacher named Michael Perkins. They’re in good company as actors new to “Big Little Lies”; Meryl Streep has come on board to play another mother, that of Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgard).

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 to Add These 3 New Characters: Report

It looks like Hawkins, Indiana, is getting some new blood after so much was shed in “Stranger Things” Season 2.

As the hit Netflix series nears production on its third season, there are plans for three new characters to join, according to ThatHashtagShow.com. The website shared intel from an unnamed source that revealed descriptions of three recurring roles currently being cast. While the names could change, the characters are reportedly Mayor Larry Kline, a self-interested and slimy politician; Bruce, a misogynistic news reporter lacking integrity; and Patricia Brown, an elderly woman in the neighborhood who is kind to the kids.

These descriptions might not mean much to us now, but if past precedent continues, it won’t take long before we’re seriously invested in their fates. Season 2, for example, brought us Bob (Sean Astin), who won us over with his earnest affection for Joyce (Winona Ryder) and broke our hearts with his heroic sacrifice. We also came to welcome the addition of Max (Sadie Sink) to the party and look forward to teasing quips from Erica (Priah Ferguson), Lucas’s sister. Like the newbies before them, the latest three are bound to shake things up in Hawkins.

“Stranger Things” Season 3 is expected to premiere in 2019.

  • Tessa Thompson to Play Real-Life Jewelry Thief in Doris Payne Heist Movie

“Westworld” star Tessa Thompson has several big projects on the way, including the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War,” and the list is only growing.

The actress is set to play international jewelry thief Doris Payne in a still-untitled heist movie, Variety reports. As the lead character, Thompson will recreate Payne’s decades of crime, which stretch from the 1950s all the way to the recent past. Payne, who is now 87, was arrested as recently as July after allegedly shoplifting, according to NBC News.

Payne is reportedly very charismatic and would manage to steal from jewelry stores while posing as a customer. Over the years, she was arrested multiple times and used some 20 different aliases, the Daily Beast reports. We can see why her unique story has been deemed movie-worthy.

Thompson will not only star in the film but also produce. She’ll work alongside Jeff Clanagan and Candice Wilson of Codeblack Films. The biopic does not yet have a release date.

  • Hilary Duff to Star in Manson Murders Movie ‘The Haunting of Sharon Tate’

The chilling murder of Sharon Tate is coming to screen, and Hilary Duff is going to star as the late actress.

Duff will play the title character in “The Haunting of Sharon Tate,” Deadline reports. The psychological horror film will center on Tate as she nears the end of her life. In 1969, at age 26, she was brutally murdered by a group of Charles Manson’s followers — a terrifying death she had somewhat predicted. Tate had reportedly experienced nightmares and premonitions before the fateful night.

At the time of her death, Tate was eight-and-a-half months pregnant with her first child. Her husband, Roman Polanski, was away in London, and Tate was killed alongside four of her friends. Her ex-boyfriend, Jay Sebring, was among them, and he’ll be played by Jonathan Bennett (“Mean Girls”). It’ll be a change to see stars from some of our favorite teen movies in such a dark film, but we’re open to it.

“The Haunting of Sharon Tate” is written by Daniel Farrands, who is also set to direct. The film does not yet have a release date.

The 10-episode series co-stars “Gossip Girl” alum Penn Badgley and tells a twisted love story. What starts as a cute crush soon becomes creepy and dangerous when Badgley’s character becomes obsessed with the object of his affection (Mitchell). He begins to stalk her online, and then his behavior only gets worse, to the point that he goes after other people in her life. Yikes.
