  • Breaking Down the ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Trailer

On Tuesday, November 16th, Sony and Disney released the final trailer for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ which opens in theaters on December 17th. With just a month to go until the release, promotion is kicking into high-gear, as they released the first poster last week, and a second this week that adds Benedict Cumberbatch to the background. The new trailer expands on the film’s plot, which we knew very little about previously other than that Peter Parker will go to Doctor Strange and ask him to make the world forget he is Spider-Man, and that opens up all kinds of Multiverse trouble. The trailer also features more footage of the villains, as well as our first look at Oscar winner Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Electro from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ Unfortunately, Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield do not appear in the final trailer, as many fans had hoped, and there is no confirmation that they will ultimately appear in the movie at all.

The trailer begins with Peter Parker explaining to MJ that since he was bitten by that spider, he’s only had one good week, and that was the week he told her the truth about who he is. We then cut to the Sanctum Sanctorum, where Doctor Strange explains that ever since Peter made him “botch that spell” to have everyone forget that he is Spider-Man, they’ve been “getting some visitors from every universe.” We then cut to the action scene on the bridge, and get our first look at the Green Goblin flying out of a cloud of smoke above Spider-Man. We then see Spider-Man in his black costume dodging yellow lightning, followed by Doctor Octopus’ introduction on the bridge where Alfred Molina’s character unmasks Spider-Man and says, “You’re not Peter Parker.”

Alfred Molina in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'
Alfred Molina in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

The next shot shows Doctor Octopus captured in some kind of cell and surrounded by Peter, MJ, and Ned. Peter asks him his name, and he replies, “Doctor Otto Octavius.” The kids then laugh at him, and Peter says, “No, seriously, what’s your real name?” This is a callback to the joke between Peter and Doctor Strange in ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ After another shot of Peter in the black costume, doing some sort of “Doctor Strange magic” with his wrist, we cut back to the Sanctum Sanctorum where Strange is yelling at Peter, MJ and Ned. He says, “There are others out there. We need to send them back, so, Scooby-Doo this crap!” After making the Mystery Gang reference, MJ is having none of it and replies, “You know, all of this is kind of your mess. I know a couple of magic words myself, starting with the word please.” To which Strange smiles and says, “Please… Scooby-Doo this crap!”

Jamie Foxx in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'
Jamie Foxx in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

After a shot of a sandstorm and yellow electricity flowing through the streets surrounding Oscar winner J.K. Simmons reprising his role as J. Jonah Jameson, we see Alfred Molina’s character say to Peter and his friends, “You’re flying out into the darkness to fight ghosts.” Peter asks him to explain what he means, and we cut to Strange saying that all the multiverse villains “die fighting Spider-Man” and that it is “their fate.” Not excepting that as the truth, Peter then steals a “magic box” from Strange and the two fight in the streets before taking their battle to on top of a moving train. Spider-Man says, “There must be another way,” and Strange shouts, “There isn’t. They are a danger to our universe.” We then get our first shot of Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Electro. He looks much more like his comic book counterpart this time around, with yellow lightning, not blue, and it forms around his head in pointed triangles, replicating the character’s original comic book costume. Electro is fighting Spider-Man, floating in the air and says, “You’ll never take this away from me,” before he shoots lightning at our hero.

Willem Dafoe in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'
Willem Dafoe in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

After a few more action shots of Spider-Man swinging through the air, we hear Willem Dafoe’s voice as the Green Goblin saying, “Peter, you’re struggling to have everything you want while the world tries to make you choose.” We then get a great shot of Green Goblin, who certainly looks like the Dafoe version, fighting Spider-Man at the Statue of Liberty. After an explosion, we see Electro in the same shot as the Lizard, at the Statue of Liberty with the Sandman’s giant head forming behind them. Then we cut to Peter and MJ, and he tells her, “This is all my fault. I can’t save everyone.” We cut back to the Statue of Liberty and Spider-Man starts to go to battle against Electro, Lizard and Sandman. The trailer ends with MJ falling off of the Statue of Liberty, and then Spider-Man diving after to save her.

Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'
Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

It’s much clearer to me now as to what the basic premise of the story is and what the movie is really all about. We knew that Peter was going to ask Strange to cast a spell, so everyone would forget he’s Spider-Man, and that would lead to villains from other Spider-Man movies to appear through the multiverse, possibly creating a Sinister Six. While that is the setup, I think the plot will have more to do with Strange ordering Peter to “kill” these “variants,” and Spider-Man refusing to do it. This will also add drama to the trailer’s cliffhanger where MJ is falling to her death, which we know has happened with other versions of the character. Will Peter let MJ die, and would he sacrifice another life just to save hers? I think that may be the larger question that the film is dealing with, and multiverse villains is just the icing on the cake.

Zendaya and Tom Holland in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'
Zendaya and Tom Holland in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

But I still wouldn’t expect Tobey McGuire or Andrew Garfield to appear, and based on that trailer, I’m not even sure where you could fit them in. The only way I can think that you could have one or both of the former Spider-Man actors still appear is if they show up towards the end of the movie somehow and give Tom Holland’s Peter the confidence to save everyone, including the bad guys. What we do know is that ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ will feature Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, J.K. Simmons, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, and maybe Willem Dafoe, reprising their previous MCU and Spider-Man franchise roles, and it will be release in theaters on December 17th.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Poster Hints at Multiple Villains

Spider-Man fans already had a lot of expectations for the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ and thanks to the first official poster for the movie, which earlier this week, they now expect to see the Green Goblin return as well!

The new movie will deal with the aftermath of Peter’s secret identity going public at the end of ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home,’ thanks to Mysterio, and having Doctor Strange cast a spell so the world forgets who Spider-Man really is. However, we know from the recent trailer that things will go terribly wrong and tear a rift in the multiverse, allowing villains from the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb movies to also appear.

Conformation of this was given at the beginning of production when it was announced that Jamie Foxx would be reprising his role as Electro from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ Then, earlier this year, actor Alfred Molina himself confirmed in an interview with Variety that he would also be reprising his role as Doctor Octopus from ‘Spider-Man 2.’ This led to countless rumors about the film, including that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield may also return, playing their respective versions of Peter Parker.

Then, just last week, news hit that Empire Magazine was running an article on the film in their December issue that confirmed Rhys Ifans and Thomas Haden Church returning in ‘No Way Home’ as the Lizard and the Sandman, their characters from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘Spider-Man 3,’ respectively. Not to mention, and Spoiler Alert for ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage,’ but Tom Hardy’s title character is also now running around in the MCU. Which leaves the Green Goblin, whose pumpkin bombs could be seen in the trailer, but who’s image has been kept secret until now.

If you zoom into the background of the new poster, you can see a small image that looks to be the Willem Dafoe version of the character from Spider-Man. While the Green Goblin’s voice can be heard in the trailer, it is difficult to know if it is really Dafoe or not. Although the new poster would indicate that this version of Norman Osborne will appear in the movie, there still has been no official confirmation from Sony or Marvel that the Oscar-nominated actor will be reprising his role. Fans will also notice that the new poster teases the other three previously announced returning franchise villains, with Doc Ock’s metal tentacles, yellow lightning to represent Electro, and a sandstorm for the Sandman featuring prominent in the poster.

But like a mirage, many online fans think that they have spotted other potential villains hidden in the poster. If you look at the Green Goblin image, there are two pieces of debris on either side of him, and some fans think that those tiny images are of James Franco and Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblins from ‘Spider-Man 3’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ respectively. When I zoomed in on the poster, it just looked like debris to me, and there is absolutely nothing indicating that Franco or DeHaan will be reprising their previous roles in the upcoming film.

But the online guessing game doesn’t stop there, as some people think that the debris in the background near the edge of Spider-Man’s right hand is the Vulture flying in the background. Some online have even said that the Lizard is hidden in the bottom right hand corner, and that Rhino’s horn can be seen just below Spider-Man’s knee, but I don’t buy that one as it just looks like a metal spike poking out of concrete. But the wildest online theory is that the metallic tentacle we see on the right hand side of the poster is not Alfred Molina’s character, but instead Kathryn Hahn’s Doctor Olivia Octavius from ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,’ which seems completely made-up if you ask me.

The poster was dropped on the film’s official Twitter account, which even encouraged fans to use their “Spidey Senses” to look for “details,” so they clearly want fans guessing. But I think with many fans trying to find out everything they can about the upcoming movie, they are beginning to see things that are just not there, which may be exactly what Disney wants. I can’t remember a time in the past when a simple poster for a movie has caused so much excitement and online debate. I only fear that fans now expect far too much from ‘No Way Home,’ and anything short of all three cinematic Spider-Man fighting off a multiverse version of the Sinister Six will leave hardcore viewers disappointed.

Now, assuming that Venom is not one of the Sinister Six, as he wasn’t in the comics, and also assuming that the Sinister Six is featured in the new movie at all, that still leaves one-member unknown. It likely won’t be Jared Leto’s Morbius, as his solo film is not set to release until January, but it could be Michael Keaton’s Vulture, who is also set to appear in Morbius. And let’s not forget Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio, although he apparently died in ‘Far From Home,’ the character is best known for his illusions, so anything is possible.

Vulture, or possibly Mysterio, would make the most sense to me to actually be the sixth member of the Sinister Six, if they do in fact appear. But if Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Lizard, and Electro are in the movie, that would represent one villain from every non-MCU Spider-Man movie, and I would think that Marvel Studios would want at least one of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man villains from the MCU to appear as well.

With Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong already confirmed to reprise their Doctor Strange roles in ‘No Way Home,’ as well as Oscar winner J.K. Simmons returning as J. Jonah Jameson, the cast is already packed with other MCU characters. So, with the exception of Molina’s Doc Ock, and maybe the Green Goblin, I wouldn’t expect any of the villains from previous Spider-Man movies to have terribly large roles, as they will most likely appear as cameos towards the end of the movie, which is rumored to run well over two and a half hours.

Check out the new poster below, and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ is set to open in theaters on December 17th.

What to Watch this Week: ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League,’ ‘The Courier,’ ‘Happily,’ ‘Last Call,’ & more

If you’re curious as to what new movie this week might be best for you, Moviefone is here to help you find it and watch it. This week’s recommended films include a superhero do-over, a couple of deep dives into real-life scandals, a couple of stories about strained friendships, a gory anthology, and killer pants. Here are the movies we’re suggesting this week:

Zack Snyder’s Justice League (HBO Max)

Henry Cavill as Superman in 'Zack Snyder's Justice League'
Henry Cavill as Superman in ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’

Back in 2017, ‘Justice League’ was one of the most highly anticipated superhero movies of the year. Featuring most of DC Comic’s heavy-hitters, it landed with more of a thud than a bang. While fans were supportive overall, their knowledge over the troubled production that Zack Snyder had to leave due to family tragedy left them feeling like there had to be a better movie in there somewhere. Over the years, fans grumbled about #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, and Warner Bros studios listened. In a move rare for the entertainment industry, fans got their way, and Snyder got more cash to shoot more material the way he originally intended. The result is 242 minutes of superheroic goodness, with more complete backstories for the characters and entirely new scenes never before enjoyed by the hardworking fans.

Watch It If: You want to know more about The Flash and Cyborg, you’re excited to enjoy all the talk about “boxes” like it’s for the first time, and you’re  trying to make up for lost time watching the smash-smash-boom-boom that we haven’t gotten over the past year with all these film delays. Oh, AND you love f-bombs. There are WAY more in this version.

Rick Singer, the subject of ‘Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal’

It was only a matter of time before this film was released, showing the tangled web of deceit woven by numerous parents of varying privilege to get their kids into college. Part documentary, part reenactment using actual FBI wiretaps, the film stars Matthew Modine as Rick Singer, the man who orchestrated admissions for numerous kids at Ivy league schools in exchange for payments adding up to $25 million over seven years. His method was to lie about the sports they were involved in and fake their SAT tests, and it was highly effective. It was also highly illegal, and most famously sent actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin to prison for approximately seventeen minutes.

Watch It If: You miss gossiping with the neighbors about people in the neighborhood you know are up to something, and if you want to feel smug satisfaction about your kid getting into college the old fashioned way–by putting off their essays until last minute and asking you for the application fee.

  • From ‘Blade’ to ‘Thor: Love and Thunder,’ Everything We Learned from the Marvel Comic Con Panel (It’s a Lot)

From ‘Blade’ to ‘Thor: Love and Thunder,’ Everything We Learned from the Marvel Comic Con Panel (It’s a Lot)

    Marvel Studios

This year’s San Diego Comic Con has been a mostly sleepy affair, with most of the major movie studios forgoing splashy presentations, leaving buzzy television series to pick up the slack. (In all fairness, that “Watchmen” trailer rules.) So there was a certain amount of built-in hype for Marvel Studios’ return to Hall H (they skipped last year); not only has the 2019 cinematic landscape been largely defined by the studio (thanks to hits like “Captain Marvel” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” and the release of the juggernaut “Avengers: Endgame,” which just surpassed “Avatar” as the highest grossing movie ever) but much of their upcoming slate has been a mystery, a muddled brew of conjecture, half-truths and wishful thinking. So this afternoon, in San Diego, the air was cleared. In a breathless 90-minute presentation, “phase four” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, encompassing theatrical releases and new productions for Disney’s forthcoming direct-to-consumer streaming platform Disney+, were meticulously detailed. And far from a saggy slate, this crop of titles is exciting and experiment. After so much change and so much success, Marvel Studios seems ready to mix it up. And we couldn’t be more excited.

In an effort to streamline our reporting, we’ll go in the order they went in Hall H. Just strap in. It’s a wild ride.

    Marvel Studios

After quickly showing a MCU greatest hits reel and announcing “Avengers: Endgame’s” box office milestone, Kevin Feige introduced the cast and crew of “Eternals,” set for release on November 6, 2020. Director Chloé Zhao appeared onstage with a ridiculously stacked cast, including Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff (the “first deaf hero” in the MCU), Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee and, the queen herself, Angelina Jolie.

As far as kicking things off with a bang, this was pretty great.

Nanjiani said that he’d been to Comic Con eight times before but that this was the first time he’d gotten into Hall H. He then made a really cool analogy for the MCU. “It used to be like ‘Casablanca’ had everything – action, drama, thriller and movies had to be little genres. Is this a comedy? Is it a thriller? Marvel is a throwback to those old school movies because they have everything,” he said. “I’m just excited to be able to do all that.” Jolie, for her part, didn’t take the role lightly. “What it means to be a part of the MCU to be a part of this family, we know what the task is and we are all going to work very, very hard,” Jolie said, sounding both humble and very determined.

    Marvel Studios

After “Eternals,” we were then treated to a look at “The Falcon and the Winter Solider,” a new series scheduled to hit the Disney+ streaming service in August 2020. Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie appeared on stage and Feige described the setting of the show as “post-‘Endgame,’” but besides that, details weren’t exactly revealed … oh, except that Daniel Bruhl, who played the villainous Baron Zemo in “Captain America: Civil War,” will be back (and presumably, up to no good).

    Marvel Studios

Next was a look at the film for February 12, 2021: “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” Not only is that title new (and quite a mouthful!), but Feige detailed how the Ten Rings, a famous terrorist group in Marvel history, has been planted as Easter eggs in a ton of the movies (serious, “Ant-Man!?!”) but now it will really get to take center stage. Tony Leung, one of our greatest living actors, will play the real version of The Mandarin (you’ll remember Ben Kingsley infamously played a phony version of the character in “Iron Man 3”), alongside Awkwafina (in an undisclosed role) and newcomer Simu Liu as the titular hero. Liu said he was “cast on Tuesday,” and said the casting was “a fulfillment of my dream.” Director Destin Daniel Cretton said that he’s excited to create an MCU film that “reflects all the beautiful colors I see in this room. To be a small part in that is really special to me.”

    Marvel Studios

After that we got a brief (and I mean brief) look at “WandaVision,” the upcoming Disney+ series that concerns Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany’s characters from the MCU along with a very cool surprise, the addition of Monica Rambeau, who we last saw as a child in “Captain Marvel,” now played by the wonderful Teyonah Parris. Everyone on stage described the show as “strange,” with Feige saying it’s “unlike anything we’ve done before,” and Bettany calling it “surprising and weird.” It looks, in part, to be based on Tom King’s recent, highly celebrated comic book run and if the logo is any indication will have a retro 1950’s aesthetic. Look for it in spring 2021.

    Marvel Studios

Another Disney+ title we got a taste of is “Loki.” Feige said that after “Endgame,” “The question I got asked more than any other was: where did Loki go?” Well, as it turns out, a lot of places, thanks to his use of the space stone. Tom Hiddleston, always the fan favorite, says that this will be a less evolved Loki than he currently sits in the MCU. Think first “Avengers” Loki. “Just about the last thing that happened to him was he got Hulk smash. There’s a lot of psychological evolution that has yet to happen,” Hiddleston said. “Kevin has shown me what his plans are but it is one of the most exciting, creative opportunities I’ve ever come across. This is new territory, a new world, new challenges. I cannot wait to get started.” He’ll beam into your homes spring 2021.

    Marvel Studios

Next, the film hitting theaters on May 7, 2021 was revealed: the sequel to “Doctor Strange,” with the tantalizingly rococo title “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Feige started by saying that just because Jake Gyllenhaal was lying to our beloved Peter Parker, doesn’t mean that a multiverse doesn’t exist. But when returning director Scott Derrickson walked out on stage, he let loose an even bigger bombshell: “We’re going to make the first scary MCU film.” Whoa. (Feige quickly said: “It’s a PG-13 movie and you’re going to like it.” So no R … yet.)

Benedict Cumberbatch came out on stage and said that “This twist of horror will really have people gripped. He’ll be in a position of not knowing what’s coming at him. We’re going back to trying to destroy him a bit.” Olsen was then brought back out on stage; she’ll be fighting the forces of darkness alongside Strange in this outing and she remarked that the storylines of her show and the “Doctor Strange” sequel will be linked.

    Marvel Studios

Next up: summer 2021 on Disney+, the first “animated series from Marvel Studios,” “What If.” It’ll feature Jeffrey Wright from “Westworld” as the voice of The Watcher and “a huge majority f the actors in our movies will reprise their roles,” taking on alternative takes on characters and scenarios you already love.

Jeremy Renner then emerged, making his way through the crowd, to help announce the “Hawkeye” “limited series” (none of the other shows were described as such) coming to Disney+ in the fall of 2021. What’s more, as Feige said with great pride, the series will be responsible for “bringing Kate Bishop into the MCU and we’ll explore more of his time as Ronin in this series.” Renner seems pumped about the series (which, based on the logline and the logo seems to be derived from Matt Faction’s amazing series): “What I think Hawkeye is a superhero without superpowers. And I get to train somebody else to be a superhero without superpowers. It’s an amazing sentiment. I think that’s fantastic.”

And then we got to talk about the third film of 2021, coming November 5, 2021: “Thor: Love and Thunder.” Writer/director Taika Waititi has returned to the franchise and he was joined on stage alongside Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Waititi said he was inspired by the Jason Aaron comic book “The Mighty Thor.” “It introduces, for the the first time, female Thor.” He said there was only one person who could carry the hammer (and carry the hammer, out onto the stage, she did) — Natalie Portman, making her return to the MCU after a somewhat contentious shoot on “Thor: The Dark World.” People were shook. This is a huge surprise. Portman said that inheriting the role of Thor, “Feels pretty good.” She then said: “I’ve always had some hammer envy.”

At the tail end of the panel, we were treated to May, 2020’s film, “Black Widow.” We saw some footage, which looks very “Mission: Impossible”-y, and Scarlett Johansson was joined onstage by her amazing cast (including an incredibly charming David Harbour from “Stranger Things”). We’ll do a deep dive into the footage and everything a bit later, but at the end of the panel, the cast walked on stage with their Black Widow hats for a big group photo. They were then joined by everybody else who had been a part of the presentation (all wearing their Black Widow hats, which I noticed were considerably higher quality than the ones that were handed out) and then, at the very very end of the presentation, after Feige had bemoaned the fact that he didn’t get to talk about “Black Panther 2” (!), or “Captain Marvel 2” (!!) or “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3” (!!!) or talk about “Fantastic Four” or the plans for the mutants (!!!!).

    Marvel Studios

Then he brought out two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali. Feige said that Ali had another hat he’d like to wear. And then he put it on and it said “Blade.” It’s unclear whether or not it’s a TV series or a movie, but goddamn are we pumped.

Three visionaries face off in the upcoming film “The Current War,” and a new trailer offers a glimpse at the battle.

The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, and Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Edison, George Westinghouse, and Nikolai Tesla, respectively. It is set in late 1880s as Edison prepared to bring his new DC electricity technology to Manhattan. He faces a challenge, however, as Westinghouse and Tesla make the case for an alternative.

If that doesn’t sound, well, electric to you, the trailer will convince you otherwise. It sets the stage for a war with unbelievably high stakes.

“If Mr. Edison succeeds, he will set us back so far we may never recover,” says Tesla.

“Did I mention that his system is lethal?” Edison later says.

And innovator and investor Samuel Insull (Tom Holland) pops up with a truly ominous warning: “There is a possibility you’ll be putting in jeopardy the lives of 28 million people.”

    Watch below.

The film also stars Katherine Waterston, Matthew McFadyen, and Tuppence Middleton. It is directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon from a script by Michael Mitnick. “The Current War” hits theaters Oct. 4.

Netflix has been drawn in by “The Power of the Dog.”

The streamer has nabbed worldwide rights to the upcoming film starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elisabeth Moss. Netflix made a deal with Cross City Films, the in-house sales division of See-Saw Films, after sales launched at the Cannes Film Festival, per Variety. The plan is to release the film in 2021, both in theaters and on the streaming service.

“The Power of the Dog” is based the Thomas Savage novel that was published in 1976. It tells the story of two brothers — one who is gentle and one who is cruel — that jointly own a ranch in Montana. When the gentle one, Phil (Cumberbatch), marries a local widow (Moss), his brother, George, sets out to destroy her and her son.

Jane Campion is the film’s director and screenwriter, and she is producing with Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, Roger Frappier, and Tanya Seghatchian. The project comes from See-Saw Films and Big Shell Films/Max Films Production in association with Brightstar and BBC Films. Executive producers are Rose Garnett of BBC Films, Simon Gillis of See-Saw, and Brightstar’s John Woodward.

The wait for “The Power of the Dog” is set to be a long one, but in the meantime, there’s more from both Cumberbatch and Moss on the way.

Sure, the Avengers beat Thanos — but can they beat an escape room?

Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Letitia Wright teamed up for the ultimate challenge: getting out of an “Avengers: Endgame”-themed escape room.

Director/game master Joe Russo didn’t have high hopes for the foursome: “Odds are they don’t get out in time.”

First, they had to find Infinity Stone cards and lay them out in the correct order to get a number combination to unlock the next step of the puzzle.

At one point, Wright asks Cumberbatch for his address in “Doctor Strange,” which Mackie points out the actor made three years ago.

Then they find another secret room. “It gets weirder!” Cumberbatch exclaims.

Do they escape before time runs out? Too bad they can’t just snap the door open.
