  • Hey, Oscars, Make Amy Schumer and Amy Poehler Hosts

    Amy Poehler and Amy Schumer
    Amy Poehler and Amy Schumer

When the Academy Awards announced it would use a pair of hosts at the next Oscars, we suggested Amy Schumer and Amy Poehler.

    Only not with each other.

But their chemistry as presenters at the Emmys had us at Made in Hollywood revising our suggestion (Originally we had Schumer with new BFF Jennifer Lawrence, Poehler with Golden Globe co-host Tina Fey). Poehler and Schumer are now our first choice.

Plus, Schumer, this year’s comedy movie It Girl for “Trainwreck,” only bolstered her awards cred by quickly winning an Emmy for her Comedy Central show “Inside Amy Schumer.”

“This show fights for what we believe in,” a tearful Schumer said. “We care so much.”

So how about it, Academy Awards? Bring on the Amys!

  • Best of Late Night TV: Ariana Grande’s Musical Impressions, Jake Gyllenhaal’s Cake Revenge on Amy Schumer

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

Ariana Grande isn’t always that great at being Ariana Grande (DonutGate) but she’s pretty much perfect at being Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Celine Dion. Watch her mimic her peers in “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s” classic Wheel of Musical Impressions game: Robert De Niro, also on “The Tonight Show,” confirmed he has a project coming up with Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and *maybe* Harvey Keitel. The working title is “The Irishman.” De Niro also did a Jimmy Fallon impression to match Jimmy’s impressions of him. “The Tonight Show” also did a great GOP debate spoof, “The Debating Game” a version of “The Dating Game” with three candidates (with Fallon as Trump, obviously) trying to win over an undecided voter: Jake Gyllenhaal was on “Late Show With Stephen Colbert” and responded to Amy Schumer’s cake theft. Amy, who was on Stephen’s show last Friday, lived in Jake’s house for a while. (Jake said everyone in Hollywood knows each other and just lives in the same house.) While in Jake’s house, Amy found a frozen cake reading “Happy Birthday,” so she ate it, and taped herself eating it. So Stephen enabled Jake’s revenge, breaking out a similar-looking wrapped cake so Jake could eat it on air. “Hey, princess, what’s going on?” Jake said, looking into the camera. Stephen also took a bite, and Jake instructed him to “bite where I bit.” “The Late Show” also mixed the 2016 presidential race with “The Hunger Games” to create “The Hungry For Power Games”: Josh Brolin and Seth Meyers had a “Back in My Day” chat, getting all grandpa (GILFs?) about how things were simple and better way back when … before Starbucks started serving alcohol: John Stamos talked to Jimmy Fallon about being a GILF on his new show “Grandfathered” and — since Stamos is a sitcom king — they made their own sitcom openings. Love the fake set and wigs: Paul Bettany was on “Conan” and continued the “Avengers” team’s beef against Jason Statham. Jason had dissed the “Avengers” for all the stunt doubles they use and Paul suggested Jason get an acting double. Over on “The Late Late Show,” Pauley Perrette and Alice Cooper covered James Corden in some of Alice’s makeup to give him the Alice Cooper rock star treatment:

  • Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence Top Our List of Oscar Host Duos

    Comic-Con International 2015 - Lionsgate Press Room
Jennifer Lawrence (L) and Amy Schumer

Billy Crystal famously arrived on the Oscar stage on a horse. Imagine Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence topping that by cruising in on a jet ski.

For that reason alone Made in Hollywood nominates Hollywood’s hottest BFFs as the host duo whom Academy Award producers say they want for the big show on Feb. 28, 2016.

Plus they’d be funny, edgy, glamorous, fresh and dangerously unpredictable — all qualities the three-hour-plus program desperately needs.

    jetski

But if Jlaw and Amy (Jamy?) can’t clear their schedules, we offer these other suggestions:

    Amy Poehler and Tina Fey

You may not remember who won Golden Globes the last couple of years, but you certainly remember the hosts. They are the gold standard for Hollywood emceeing. And while Fey said a couple of years ago she didn’t want the Oscar gig, maybe she could be talked out of it.

    Donald Trump and Kanye West

Pundits gripe that the presidential race has devolved into a reality show, so why not go all in and put the current and potentially future candidates on the world’s biggest TV stage? And imagine whose acceptance speech Kanye would crash this time.

Anne Hathaway and Anybody But James Franco

She sings, she dances, she’s funny and smart — let’s give Anne another shot at showing what she really could have done in 2011 without being held back by Franco’s bad buzz.

    Chris Pratt and Anna Faris

Hollywood’s hottest power couple after Brad and Angelina (whom we just can’t see as hosts), the stars of “Jurrasic World” and “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” would bring goofy charm and a touch of romance to the stage.

  • See Amy Schumer & Jennifer Lawrence Join Billy Joel Onstage, Dance on His Piano

Is Billy Joel the new Taylor Swift?

Not to be outdone by Swifty, who’s been parading out famous pals left and right on her 1989 Tour, Joel invited both Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence onstage during his concert in Chicago on Thursday night. Naturally, as anything involving these two ladies is bound to be, the stunt was awesome.

Schumer and Lawrence joined Joel for a performance of “Uptown Girl,” a tune that’s featured prominently in Schumer’s summer hit “Trainwreck.” Schumer, Lawrence, and some pals recreated part of a dance that Schumer does to the song in the flick, and then Schumer and Lawrence climbed up on top of Joel’s piano to freestyle dance to the tune.

These newly-christened BFFs — who are writing a movie together, in case you haven’t heard — are having quite an awesome summer, what with vacationing together, and now crashing a concert together. Taylor Swift may have a squad to be envied, but we’d really love to join Schumer and Lawrence’s girl gang, too.

Check out video of the performance below. (Side note: It appears the cameraman at the concert had no idea who Lawrence was, as the feed on the big screen stayed almost solely on Schumer the entire time. We appreciate J-Law dancing her heart out anyway.)

  • Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Schumer Are Writing Secret Movie Together

Jennifer Lawrence may have just broken the internet. Again.

The Hunger Games” star revealed that she is cowriting a film with new BFF Amy Schumer (“Trainwreck“).

“We play sisters [in the film],” Lawrence said in an interview with the New York Times. “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”

The Oscar-winner also told the Times what everyone really wants to know: How this team-up happened.

“I emailed her after I saw ‘Trainwreck’ and said, ‘I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you,’” Lawrence recalled “We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting.”

And texting turned into jet skiing together in early August and then writing a movie, naturally.

“Amy and I were creatively made for each other,” Lawrence said. “It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing ‘Trainwreck.’”

No word yet when (or if) this movie will hit theaters, but we wanna already buy our tickets.

  • Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer Writing Sister Comedy

Hollywood’s two most self-deprecating ladies are teaming up for big screen laughs together.

Jennifer Lawrence revealed to NY Times Wednesday that she and Amy Schumer are close to completing a comedic screenplay that they have written and intend to star opposite each other.

“We play sisters,” Lawrence revealed to The Times. “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”

She continued, “Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing ‘Trainwreck.’”

Oscar winner Lawrence said that she’s a fan of Schumer and initiated contact after watching “Trainwreck,” the comedienne’s summer hit.

“I emailed her after I saw ‘Trainwreck’ and said, ‘I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you,’” she said. “We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting.”

  • Amy Schumer Among First ‘Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ Guests

Day 4 - 68th Locarno Film FestivalThe The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” has been announced, and includes a bunch of big names, ranging from Hollywood royalty to music superstars — and some quirkier choices that would have felt at home on “The Colbert Report,” too.

The first show, debuting on September 8, features previously-announced guests George Clooney and presidential candidate Jeb Bush, along with a musical performance from new “Late Show” bandleader Jon Batiste and his band, Stay Human. Some “special guests” are also slated to appear, though the show is keeping their names under wraps for now.

On September 9, Scarlett Johansson will stop by, as will eccentric SpaceX and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk. Kendrick Lamar will serve as the musical guest.

September 10 will feature a sit-down with Uber CEO Travis Kalanick. Country star Toby Keith will perform.

And on September 11, Colbert will chat with the red-hot Amy Schumer, along with horror legend Stephen King. (King is most likely appearing to promote the upcoming Hulu miniseries of his novel, “11/22/63,” though we can’t help but hope that he and Colbert will just nerd out together instead.) Troubled Waters is slated to serve as the night’s musical guest.

It looks like a pretty great lineup to us, and despite Colbert’s pledge that he’s ditched his conservative alter ego, we’re hoping for some “Report”-esque antics with Bush, Musk, and Kalanick. “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” kicks off on September 8 on CBS.

  • New ‘SNL’ Hosts Named: Tracy Morgan ‘Stoked’ For Post-Accident Comeback

“Saturday Night Live” Season 41. Tracy almost lost his life, and did lose a close friend, in a horrifying car accident in June 2014. Tracy’s recovery has been slow but steady and he said he hoped to return to comedy. Now he’s doing it, back home on NBC.

SNL just revealed the first three hosts for Season 41:

That’s Miley Cyrus taking on the October 3 premiere, in her third time as host. Believe it or not, Amy Schumer has never hosted SNL before, so October 10 will be her debut. Tracy returns to host for his second time, although he was a cast member from 1996 to 2003.

Tracy tweeted that he was “stoked to be going home” to SNL — and also NBC, home of his much-missed show “30 Rock”:

The musical guests for those episodes, and future episode hosts, will be announced at a later date. Good luck to the SNL41 crew!

  • Amy Schumer Says She’s Not Photogenic When Jennifer Lawrence is Around

Put me in, coach! Amy Schumer made headlines recently after she was seen paling around with Jennifer Lawrence and playing. Unfortunately for Schumer, she didn’t feel as though the photos showed her best side.

“In all the pictures we took of us, I look like her coach,” the “Trainwreck” star joked to Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” on Monday. “I look like I’m telling her to take a knee… I look like I’m coaching her.”

Of course, Schumer said she should have known better than to be photographed with the “Silver Linings Playbook” Oscar winner, who she calls “the coolest chick you’ll ever meet.”

“It’s my picture next to Jennifer Lawrence’s, like the last person you want to be next to,” she said.

In the past, they have taken getaways to Martha’s Vineyard, but this year it was the posh Long Island community of the Hamptons in New York that played host to the ladies.

“We went to the Hamptons because they wouldn’t let us go back to Martha’s Vineyard, like no one would rent us a house,” she said, adding they’re basically kicked out of the popular affluent east coast summer holiday spot. When Stewart asked why, she quipped, it’s “none of your business.”

The girls, she said, hung out and went jet skiing. At one point, Schumer even decided to try stand-up paddle boarding, to which paparazzi photographed her. Once again, she didn’t find the snaps flattering.

“You know the body language if you’re stand up paddle boarding is like if you’re a newly homeless person taking a like a stand-up dump,” she said, rising and slightly squatting. “I didn’t even recognize myself when these pictures came out. I was like, ‘Oh my god, Alfred Hitchcock is alive and loves water sports?’”
