  • Golden Globes 2016: Amy Schumer’s Awkward Red Carpet Interviews Are Flawless

GQ Men Of The Year Party - ArrivalsAmy Schumer is no stranger to hilarious red carpet high jinks (see her “tripping” in front of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian last year), so it made sense that she would be up for some fun on the Golden Globes red carpet. And boy, did she deliver.

Schumer’s first stop was making Ryan Seacrest squirm while chatting with E! News. Seacrest attempted to avoid any awkwardness by moving the interview along before anything unfortunate made it on the air, but the comedian was ready with a quick comeback, telling the host in a mock incredulous-voice, “Well my vagina itched and I asked if I could address it and you said, ‘no!’”
Later, in an interview with Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie for NBC, Lauer attempted to banter with the actress about her penchant for profanity, telling Schumer that the telecast had a 20-second delay.

Sadly for the “Today” host, Schumer shot back with a zinger about Lauer’s stamina, exclaiming, “Just 20 seconds? All Matt Lauer can do is 20 seconds!”

Thanks for making awards shows more awesome, Amy. Never change.

  • Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer Want to Wear the Same Dress to the Golden Globes

"Joy" New York Premiere - Inside ArrivalsJennifer Lawrence may be known for her clumsiness at awards shows and on red carpets, but this time, she’s hoping to commit a faux pas on purpose.

The Oscar-winning actress revealed in a recent interview that she and her new BFF Amy Schumer both want to wear the same dress to the Golden Globes, and Lawrence is planning on asking fashion house Dior (of which she’s the face) to create two identical custom gowns for the stars.

“We’re going to try to figure out to wear the exact same thing,” Lawrence told E!. “That’s my mission. I really want us to wear the same thing.”

The stunt should be hilarious if the two actresses can pull it off, but it’s stemming from more than just a desire to be cheeky on the red carpet: Lawrence and Schumer are both nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy at the Globes, and are going head-to-head for the same prize. The surprise nod for Schumer (up for her performance in film debut “Trainwreck“) has inspired some (not-so-heated) competition between the pals, who both jokingly said in recent interviews that they were ending their friendship over it.

“It’s really every woman for herself at this point, and I don’t want her to kind of get in my head, you know?” Schumer told Entertainment Weekly.

Our fingers are crossed that this works out. After all, we’re suckers for funny red carpet gags.

  • 17 Celebs You (Probably) Didn’t Know Were Huge ‘Star Wars’ Fans

    %Slideshow-346739%
Sure, we all love “Star Wars,” but some celebs take that love above and beyond.

Whether it’s staging an elaborate lightsaber fight, recreating famous scenes or getting up close and personal with C3PO (ahem!), these stars show that no matter how famous they are, they’re still giant nerds at heart.

  • Amy Schumer Poses Nearly Nude (With Coffee) for 2016 Pirelli Calendar

Yep, there’s a real woman for ya! Amy Schumer wasn’t required to bare (almost) all for her Annie Leibovitz photo shoot, but that’s what Pirelli models usually do, so she did it for the 2016 calendar.

The “Trainwreck” and Comedy Central star is proud of her natural curves, and you may recall seeing them in her controversial “Star Wars” GQ photos and this tweet about her not-quite-model, not-quite-plus-size figure.

That was then, and it’s still the case now, as Amy just showed off on Instagram, signalling a major tone shift for Pirelli’s new calendar.

Don’t miss the caption. Amy seems to be anticipating some negative feedback, but hopefully she gets MUCH more applause. It’s refreshing to see more diverse kinds of beauty in a prominent showcase, instead of Pirelli’s typical Barbie-esque models on the beach.

According to People, this year’s Pirelli calendar honors 13 women “of outstanding professional, social, cultural, sporting and artistic accomplishment.” Annie Leibovitz photographed the women, including Serena Williams, Patti Smith, and Yoko Ono, and most of the featured subjects kept their clothes on. But Serena also stripped down, to show her athletic body.

Here’s a statement from Leibovitz on this year’s theme:

“The 2000 Calendar was an exercise in photographing nudes. It was a simple concept. For 2016, we did something completely different, but it is still simple. It is a classic set of black-and-white portraits made in the studio. When Pirelli approached me, they said they wanted to make a departure from the past. They suggested the idea of photographing distinguished women. After we agreed on that, the goal was to be very straightforward. I wanted the pictures to show the women exactly as they are, with no pretense.”

What do you think about this change in direction for Pirelli’s “calendar girls”?

  • Jennifer Lawrence Will Play ‘a MESS’ in Sister Movie With Amy Schumer

US-ENTERTAINMENT-HUNGERGAMESHollywood may still be a boys club, but Jennifer Lawrence told Entertainment Tonight she’s not writing any cameos for her male “Hunger Games” co-stars in her new movie with Amy Schumer. “No, no, no, no, no…There’s not really boys in it.” That’s certainly a change of pace. We’ll have to see if she meant that literally as no boys allowed or if we may see a stray male face here or there in the background, but with the focus on the star/screenwriters themselves.

Jenifer and Amy already revealed they will play sisters in the movie they wrote together, but Jen just shared more plot and character details with “Inside Amy Schumer” and “Trainwreck.”

Amy had called the script “funny,” “dirty,” and “real” and Jen agreed with those descriptions. Explaining how this amazing collaboration came together, Jennifer said she reached out to Amy and it all happened very quickly. “We both have very similar senses of humor, obviously and aren’t afraid, which is a good and bad thing, because I don’t know what our movie will be rated. And we’re both very blunt. So we’ve gotten through a really strenuous process without ever fighting, because we’re both very straightforward.” Sounds great so far. Guessing the movie will be rated R, like “Trainwreck,” which helped convince Jennifer that she and Amy “were made for each other.”

Are you excited to see this movie, whatever it will be called and whenever it comes out?

  • Amy Adams Wants to Be Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer’s ‘Not-Cool’ Friend

Amy Adams was in “American Hustle” with Jennifer Lawrence — they even had a tense kiss (see below) — but apparently Amy is not in with the In Crowd yet. She wants to be! Ms. Adams just had a long Q&A on her career for the Hollywood Masters series at Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film & TV in Los Angeles; The Hollywood Reporter has the whole roundup, but at one point she was asked if she has friends outside the industry, and if she ever gets fed up with it.

Here’s Amy’s response, which includes an open plea for an invite to the next JLaw/Amy Schumer party:

I don’t know. I have a nice mix of friends. I started working a lot later, so a lot of my friends are from different parts of the industry. I have a great friend who’s a costume designer, a really good friend who’s a graphic novelist. I’ve met a lot of different people and those are my core group of friends. And then people I’ve met along the way in my work, I also like to hang out with. I’m waiting for Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer to invite me to their party! So, I hope I was funny today so they will invite me to their next boating party! I’m a little more neurotic than both of them, but I think that would be — they need a little of that, and they’re both so cool and I could be the ‘not-cool’ person.”

Awww. The moderator told her that she’s actually “pretty cool,” too. But every squad could use a funny, talented, chipper and slightly non-hip friend like Amy Adams. If Jen and the other Amy never call, she’s welcome to attend our much less cool parties anytime. She’ll have to bring the boat, though.

  • Watch SNL’s Controversial ‘Guns’ Sketch With Amy Schumer

This is when “Saturday Night Live” is at its best, when it takes a stand on a timely issue and really doubles down on it in a memorable way, eliciting a strong reaction from fans — beyond the usual “meh.”

Gun ownership, control, and lack of control is all the rage (too much rage?) today after multiple shootings, and SNL took on America’s love for guns during the Amy Schumer hosted episode. Amy is no stranger to this debate, since she joined her cousin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, to push for stricter gun control after a fatal shooting at the screening of her movie “Trainwreck.”

Her SNL visited the topic of guns multiple times, including in this scathing fake commercial, mocking how guns are a beloved part of our everyday lives:

Reaction has been mixed. Some found it brilliant and spot-on, perfectly highlighting a major problem in this country. Others thought it was in poor taste and not funny, continuing to wrongly blame gun owners for the extreme actions of a very small percentage of people.

Weekend Update also took on the gun control debate:

Where do you stand on this, or are you staying out of it completely?

  • Aziz Ansari, Amy Schumer, Jennifer Lawrence & Chris Pratt Are Our New #SquadGoals

Variety's 5th Annual Power Of Comedy Presented By TBS Benefiting The Noreen Fraser Foundation - BackstageNo offense to Taylor Swift‘s gal (and guy) pals, but a new foursome is giving Swifty some fierce competition in the #squadgoals department.

Aziz Ansari, Amy Schumer, Jennifer Lawrence, and Chris Pratt all hung out together this weekend in Atlanta, and to our great disappointment, we weren’t invited. But thanks to the power of social media, we can (digitally) join in on their fun.

Ansari Parks and Rec” costar Pratt stands nearby, giving his best blue steel. The quick clip, entitled “hi guys” (we’re guessing because that’s what Ansari shouts as he swings back and forth), also has some major star power behind the scenes, according to Ansari: Lawrence directed, Schumer served as director of photography, and Ansari, Pratt, Schumer, and Schumer’s sister and writing partner, Kim Caramele, all hand a hand in the (alleged) script.

Schumer also shared her own video of Ansari and Lawrence (who’s mentioned in the caption, but not seen) waking up Caramele, who doesn’t seem too thrilled. Does she not realize that that’s a New York Times bestselling author and an Oscar winner knocking down her door?

This morning @azizansari and Jen woke up an angel #sleepmanager

A video posted by @amyschumer on

The official explanation for why the foursome was together in the first place is a bit boring: Ansari and Schumer were in Atlanta performing at the Oddball Comedy Festival, and Lawrence — with whom Schumer is writing a comedy movie script — is in Atlanta shooting “Passengers” with Pratt. We’d like to imagine that the actors are all just such good BFFs that they hang out all the time regardless of location. Either way, we haven’t been this jealous of a hangout since Schumer and Lawrence had the best vacation ever and crashed a Billy Joel concert.

Here’s hoping that all four of these funny folks find a way to work together again. Perhaps Ansari and Pratt can cameo in Schumer and Lawrence’s film? Fingers crossed.

  • Amy Schumer Just Scored a Massive Book Deal

67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Press RoomInside Amy Schumer”), she had a hit, critically-beloved movie (“Trainwreck“), and in addition to the Peabody she scored earlier this year, she just won an Emmy on Sunday. But that’s apparently not enough for the comedienne — she also reportedly just landed a huge, multi-million dollar book deal, too.

Reports surfaced earlier this month that Schumer was shopping around a collection of humorous essays, in the same vein as books from fellow female comedy giants Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling. While Publishers Weekly initially estimated that Schumer could snag “a high-seven-figure advance” in the $5 million-8 million range, according to Entertainment Weekly, the project has actually aimed much higher.

EW reports that Schumer has officially closed a deal with an as-yet-unnamed publisher, and her advance is actually somewhere between $8 million and $10 million. That’s lightyears ahead of the controversial, headline-making sum ($3.7 million) doled out to Lena Dunham for her book back in 2012.

But if anyone deserves it, it’s Schumer, whose talents both on and behind the camera can’t be ignored. Though details about her book are being kept closely under wraps for now (Publishers Weekly reports that interested publishing companies had to sign non-disclosure agreements before looking at the manuscript), we imagine it will be equally as funny and awesome as those from Fey, Poehler, and Kaling.

Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait too long to read it.
