  • ‘Once Upon a Time’: Ginnifer Goodwin & Josh Dallas May Just Guest Star (If That) in Season 7

89th Annual Academy Awards - Red CarpetIf there is another season of “Once Upon a Time” it will most likely not star the ABC show’s first major couple: Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas). According to TVLine and Deadline, “Once” was focused on getting four stars to extend their contracts into Season 7 — Jennifer Morrison (Emma), Lana Parrilla (Regina), Robert Carlyle (Rumple), and Colin O’Donoghue (Hook).

Others, including Goodwin and Dallas — who met, fell in love, got married, and had kids in real life while sailing the Snowing ‘ship — would only guest-star “as needed” in the potential Season 7.

The “Once” showrunners recently told TVLine that the story has been designed around who did re-sign (and who did not). They didn’t name names on who might be returning, but they did assure that the Season 6 finale will provide closure for the characters who need it.

“Any changes that we have to accommodate have been accommodated,” co-showrunner Eddy Kitsis told TVLine. “We planned this finale from the beginning of the year, so whoever stays and whoever goes… all those questions have already been dealt with. The audience does not have to fear [anything feeling] incomplete.”

ONCE UPON A TIME - "A Bitter Draught" - When a mysterious man from the Land of Untold Stories, who has a past with the Evil Queen, arrives in Storybrooke, David and Snow work together with Regina to neutralize the threat. Belle seeks Hook's help finding a safe place to hide away from her husband, Mr. Gold. The Evil Queen continues to try to win Zelena over to her side, while Emma resumes her therapy sessions with Archie and shares her terrifying vision of the future, on "Once Upon a Time," SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/Eike Schroter)JOSH DALLAS, GINNIFER GOODWIN, JENNIFER MORRISONLast month, Deadline reported that ABC was in Season 7 talks with Morrison, Parrilla, Carlyle, and O’Donoghue, but not Goodwin, Dallas, and Jared Gilmore (Henry). As they added:

“It is unclear what the potential Once 2.0 would look with Emma, Regina, Mr. Gold and Hook. It also is unclear whether original stars Goodwin, Dallas and Gilmore would be part of the show going forward, if there is a Season 7. There had been rumors that Goodwin and Dallas, who got married and had two kids while on the show, had approached Season 6 going in as their final year on the show.”

Season 7, if it happens, is meant to hit a reset button as the show “transitions” into a new chapter with some new characters. Two of those characters would be a cynical recluse played by Andrew J. West and a 10-year-old girl played by Alison Fernandez. They are meant to be introduced in the Season 6 finale, with potential to be regulars in Season 7. Based on that, some fans think that could be adult Henry in the start of a new story.

“Once Upon a Time” Season 6 is still continuing Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Musical Is Captain Swan Wedding Episode, With ‘Bridezilla Mom’ Snow

Here comes the briiiiide, and her super wedding-obsessed “Motherzilla of the Bride,” in the “Once Upon a Time” musical episode. Yes, the exciting news has now been revealed that Season 6, Episode 20, “The Song in Your Heart,” is not only the musical hour, it is also the episode where Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) marries Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue).

Captain Swan got engaged a second time in the April 16 episode and — unlike the last one — this proposal was perfect.

That musical wedding episode will air Sunday, May 7, and the stars are now teasing all sorts of wedding shenanigans and complications.

Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White) and Josh Dallas (Charming), who are married in real life, talked to Entertainment Weekly after their characters’s sleeping curse was finally lifted. EW asked how Snowing feels about their daughter getting married in the midst of the Black Fairy drama. Suffice it to say, Snow is all for it.

Goodwin: What is the word for the bridezilla mom? Well, we’re going to invent one. She’s like Mother of the Bridezilla. No, she’s like Motherzilla of the Bride. She’s all things wedding all the time.

EW: Does David agree with her?
Goodwin: He’s going to have to if he wants peace at home.

EW: Will this cause a divide between them?
Goodwin: Yeah. It might cause some comedy.
Dallas: Snow is pushing through, and she wants to have it, like, the public, the people, need this in order to keep hope alive. To see something good happening amongst all this badness; that is a great point, and there is something to it, but I feel David feels that, yeah, getting married to Snow was the best day of his life, but then what happened right after was the worst day of his life. It’s a very similar situation that’s happening here with the Final Battle, and then what’s going to happen? He doesn’t want that for her, and he wants her just to be able to get married, and be happy, and not have all this other stuff that’s going on like Snow and Charming had. He’s definitely reserved. He’s focused on getting all of that done and over with, so she can be free, and free to marry, and just live her life as opposed to going into this Final Battle.

Dallas and Goodwin also talked about preparing to sing in the musical, which Goodwin said is “going to be a very vulnerable experience” for her.

TVLine shared some new spoilers on the musical episode, beyond what we already knew — that it will feature seven original songs, with singing from Morrison, O’Donoghue, Goodwin, Dallas, Lana Parilla (Regina), and Rebecca Mader (Zelena) among others.

OUAT co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis told TVLine what’s important for them in this episode, and warned fans that the wedding might not go off without a hitch.

Kitsis: “For us, the most important thing [about the wedding] is that it was intimate and that you really understood that this was a real milestone in Emma’s growth.” A goal? “Hopefully to make some people cry!”

Horowitz: “Weddings on the TV series ‘Once Upon a Time’ traditionally are fraught with unexpected circumstances. And this is no different.”

We can’t wait to see this one, but there are a couple of episodes ahead of it, including “Where Bluebirds Fly” on April 23, and then “The Black Fairy” (that sounds ominous) on April 30. After “The Song in Your Heart” is the two-part finale, “The Final Battle.”

“Once Upon a Time” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Clip Brings Tiger Lily to Captain Hook’s ‘Rescue’

ONCE UPON A TIME - "A Wondrous Place" - When Hook finds himself trapped in another realm along with the Nautilus and her crew, he races to return to Emma before Gideon can execute the rest of his plan. In Storybrooke, Regina and Snow take Emma out to get her mind off Hook's disappearance. And in a flashback to Agrabah, Jasmine befriends Ariel, and together they set out to locate Prince Eric as the threat from Jafar intensifies, on "Once Upon a Time," SUNDAY, APRIL 2 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Jack Rowand)COLIN O'DONOGHUECaptain Hook could really use a friend this week on “Once Upon a Time” — but when a familiar face shows up, is the person friend or foe?

Last we saw Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), he was stranded in Neverland and being chased by the Lost Boys, who are seeking vengeance for his actions against Pan. In this sneak peek from TV Line, things are looking dire for the good captain, who cheekily offers buried treasure and rum in exchange for peace.

The Lost Boys aren’t having it, though — but just when they’re about to attack, they’re knocked out with darts shot by Tiger Lily (Sara Tomko). “Didn’t ever expect to see you back on this rock,” she says.

But when Killian thanks her for the rescue, it soon becomes clear that Tiger Lily has an agenda of her own.

“Once Upon a Time” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Bosses Tease ‘Transition’ After Season 6

The “Once Upon a Time” showrunners just admitted “some people’s stories are going to be completed” at the end of Season 6. However, they cautioned that the story may not end there, and they expressed hope for the “opportunity” to “transition” the series in Season 7.

Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz teased what’s next to Entertainment Weekly, after Henry’s (Jared Gilmore) Author powers started to take over in Season 6, Episode 16, “Mother’s Little Helper.”

Kitsis explained that Henry’s powers are escalating because “we’ve reached the end of the very first book. At a certain point, people say, ‘When are they going to get their happy endings?’ By the end of this year, some people’s stories are going to be completed — whether they’re good or bad, we’ll have to wait and see.” Horowitz jumped in to point out that “‘completed’ is a loaded term” and fans may jump to the wrong conclusion there. So Kitsis compared it to the transition after high school:

“Yeah, you completed high school and that was the end of high school, but then there was the next chapter. For us, we feel like after six seasons, there’s a chapter of people’s lives that we’re ready to wrap up, but there’s a big future, like with anybody, and a transition. We’re excited if we get an opportunity, and a Season 7, to show everyone that.”

What does that mean? Will there be a Season 7 or not? If so, how will it “transition” our favorite characters, and whose stories will be “completed”? We’ve been wondering this since the first rumors came out about OUAT hitting the “reset button” if there’s a next season. Will Henry’s story continue, along with maybe a few others?

Lana Parilla (Regina/Evil Queen) said it’s a confusing situation for the stars as well, telling EW:

“Everyone’s a bit baffled by the whole concept because we don’t really know what that means. And us actors don’t really know what that means. We know that this story is coming to an end, but we don’t know how it’s ending, and I think what’s unknown is also what’s so scary about it.”

OUAT Season 6 has 22 episodes, and Horowitz revealed that the last two episode titles are “The Final Battle Part 1” and “The Final Battle Part 2.” Those episodes will air in May.

“Once” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC. The next episode, April 16’s “Awake,” should bring us good news for Snow and Charming.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’: Emma Will Give Gideon a Chance, for Belle

Belle (Emilie de Ravin) always wants to believe the best of everyone on “Once Upon a Time,” and that goes tenfold for her son, Gideon (Giles Matthey). Yeah, Gideon wants to kill Emma (Jennifer Morrison) because she’s the Savior and it’s part of his plan to take down the Black Fairy, but — honestly — how much worse is that than a lot of the stuff Rumple/Gold (Robert Carlyle) has done?

Because Emma cares about Belle, Jennifer Morrison said her character will try to keep an open mind about Gideon.

The two will have to team up to save Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), and ABC’s photos for this Sunday’s April 9 episode, “Mother’s Little Helper,” show the two in their uneasy alliance.

Jennifer Morrison told Entertainment Weekly that Emma’s team-up with Gideon is like Emma working with Gold, someone she knows could turn on her at any moment:

“She treats Gideon very similarly to that and wants to believe the best in him because she sees the yearning in Belle to believe that her son isn’t irredeemable. Emma wants to believe that along with Belle, so she’s willing to give him a chance to prove that he’s not the villain that he seems to be.”

On that note, Entertainment Tonight shared a sneak peek scene of this Sunday’s episode, featuring Emma and Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) storming into Gold’s shop for information.

Gold reveals that the Black Fairy is his mother, and Belle says Gideon was not born evil, he was made that way by the Black Fairy. The parents make an argument to Emma to work with Gideon to try and stop the Black Fairy before she brings far worse evil to their world:

    Here’s ABC’s synopsis for Season 6, Episode 16, “Mother’s Little Helper”:

“Gold and Belle convince Emma to help Gideon, explaining that together they can stop the Black Fairy. Henry experiences a disorienting shift in his powers that forces Regina to seek counsel from the previous Author. Meanwhile, in Fairy Tale Land, Hook attempts to win the assistance of an old adversary by betting his most prized possession on a game of cards. And, in a flashback, the Black Fairy tortures young Gideon in hopes of molding him into the perfect apprentice.”

OUAT Season 6 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 6: Finally, Some Good News for Snow & Charming

Our fairy tale heroes, Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas), are currently stuck in the “Once Upon a Time” Season 6. When one is awake, the other is asleep. But it sounds like good things are finally ahead for the cursed couple, especially in the Sunday, April 16 episode, which has the hopeful title “Awake.”

Here’s TVLine‘s new scoop in answer to a fan question:

Anything you can tell us about Once Upon a Time’s Snowing? —Kat
“More romance and adventure are coming” for the marrieds, Once co-creator Adam Horowitz assures — despite the fact that they thus far are still trading Zzzzzs as part of the sleeping curse. Episode 17, titled (ahem) “Awake” and airing in mid-April, is a “big Snow/Charming episode, where we flash back to another chapter of their past which we haven’t seen in full. We think it is, as befitting the couple that started the show, an incredibly romantic story showing just how powerful their love is.”

We know their love is powerful, but what will be powerful enough to break the curse and get them both awake at the same time?

Entertainment Weekly previously revealed that the big musical episode includes a sing-off between the Evil Queen and the Charmings. The site said there will be seven songs in that hour. Episode 20 is called “The Song in Your Heart,” and that is reportedly the musical.

OUAT airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC. Next up is “A Wondrous Place,” which airs April 2.

  • Emma & Hook Just Got Engaged on ‘Once Upon a Time’ … and It Was ‘Terrible’

Well, that was awkward. Not every “Once Upon a Time” fan is a Captain Swan fan, but fans of Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) have been waiting for him to propose. It happened last night in Season 6, Episode 13, “Ill-Boding Patterns.” And it was not ideal.

Yeah, it was still squeal-worthy when she said yes — and many CS shippers are thrilled…

but the context was so wrong.

Hook was only coming to talk to Emma to confess what he had just learned, that back in the day, he was the one who killed David’s (Josh Dallas) father, aka Emma’s biological grandfather. Instead, Emma jumped the gun, figuring Hook was struggling to get out what he had to say because he was working up the courage (with his Captain Morgan rum, not water) to propose. She found the engagement ring he got for her, and she was ready with the spoiler that the answer was “yes.”

Hook was taken off guard. He did want to propose, and he did get David’s blessing as Emma’s father, but he didn’t want to propose until she knew the truth about what happened, even if it meant she didn’t want to be with him anymore. He didn’t know how to react to Emma’s early “yes,” so he skipped his plan of telling her the truth and went straight down on one knee to propose.

Morrison told Entertainment Weekly that her character shares blame for the moment going south.

Emma “puts him in a terrible position […] where he feels like he has to propose in that moment because of the circumstances.”

O’Donoghue argued that Hook made the “wrong decision” to propose, even if he felt backed into a corner after she found the ring and was so excited about getting engaged.

“He should just say, ‘Hold on a second. Before we do this, I should let you know that this is the case,’ but I think, yet again, it’s a case of Hook making a spur of the minute wrong decision, which he regrets — he doesn’t regret the fact that they’re engaged, he regrets the circumstances and what went on behind it.”

    Morrison continued to EW:

“Both of them are coming at it with good intentions. It just ends up being a muddy situation because he was about to tell her and then it seems like a terrible moment to tell her.”

Yeah, it was not the perfect proposal, but when do things go perfectly on OUAT? It does seem like they will be getting married anyway — and they’ll be singing in the musical episode — so things must work out in the end, right?

“Once Upon a Time” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Casts ‘Walking Dead’ Alum as … Adult Henry?

This may be a hint on the future of “Once Upon a Time.”

“The Walking Dead” alum Andrew J. West (Gareth the cannibal, memba him?) has been cast in the Season 6 finale, TVLine reports, with an option open for him to be a series regular in Season 7, if Season 7 officially happens.

TVLine described the role as a “‘strong yet vulnerable’ leading man in his late 20s to mid-30s, a gent who was once optimistic and hopeful but now is a friendless, cynical recluse. That said, he still possesses a dormant, deep-seated spark of hope that waits for the right person to reignite it.”

Many fans think that points to adult Henry, with perhaps something happening to crush his spirit into adulthood. That could be wrong, but there was talk, as you probably heard, that if Season 7 does happen, it may “hit the reset button” to expand the story. This could be a hint in that direction, with the story perhaps following adult Henry and rekindling the magic?

TVLine also mentioned another role being cast for the Season 6 finale/potential Season 7: “A precocious 10-year-old with a ‘constant twinkle of mischief in her eye.’ And though this girl comes from a broken home, those struggles have only made her stronger — something which will come in handy when darkness threatens ‘everything she holds dear.’” That sounds like young Emma, whom we’ve already met on OUAT, so maybe they’ll flip the script and make Henry a “Savior” of sorts to a little girl? His little girl? Just guessing now.

“Once” Season 6 has 22 episodes and, as of this week, we are up to Episode 12, “Murder Most Foul,” which airs Sunday, March 12 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • Killian?! ‘Once Upon a Time’ Fans Crack Up Over ‘Old Hook’

Emma Swan (“Once Upon a Time” Season 6.

The midseason premiere brought back several old friends, including Pinocchio (Eion Bailey) and Robin Hood (Sean Maguire), but it was Wish Realm Hook who had fans talking … and giggling. Wish Hook had aged a great deal beyond his Storybrooke counterpart, and also got a bit … well, pleasantly plump would be a nice way of saying it.

Fans cried laughing at both the reveal of Wish Realm Hook and Emma’s later announcement that they’d be sticking to water from now on.

Actor Colin O’Donoghue, who is ridiculously handsome in real life, told Entertainment Weekly he loved this incarnation of his character.

“It was great because the guys were like, ‘Look, you’re going to be old, fat, and just a crazy version of yourself,’ and I was like, ‘Okay!’ It wasn’t until I got the makeup on and the hair and the costume that I figured out who he was going to be. I really wanted him to sound like Hook, but different, older. It was just funny. He was a big bumbling idiot. I wanted him to be a complete contrast to who Hook is at the minute, but also he, in his mind, believes that he is God’s gift to women and that he has this fantastic debonair air about him when in actual fact, he’s just a mess.”

He came off like a Hook version of Captain Jack Sparrow. Morrison told EW it was such a fun exchange coming across “Old Hook,” as they called him.

The episode ended on a serious note, and with a return to the Hook fans are used to:

But some fans made a point to say their love for Hook is unconditional:

Now that’s true love! “Once Upon a Time” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • Ginnifer Goodwin: ‘It Felt Wrong’ to Come to Oscars After Bill Paxton’s Death

89th Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsFans were shocked to hear the news of actor Bill Paxton’s untimely death, but Ginnifer Goodwin was more than a fan. She was a sister-wife.

Goodwin played one of Paxton’s three wives on the HBO series “Big Love,” and she admitted to People that she struggled with the idea of still attending tonight’s 2017 Oscars just hours after hearing about his death:

“It was hard to come here, it felt wrong to come and celebrate anything. But [my husband] Josh [Dallas] reminded me that Bill loved all things Hollywood history and he would want you to be here.”

Goodwin voices the lead character in the Best Animated Feature nominee “Zootopia,” so she and her “Once Upon a Time” co-star and husband Josh Dallas celebrated the film with their attendance.

The actress told People that the second place Paxton would want to be, after hanging out with his family, would be at the Oscars. (Despite his long and impressive career, Paxton was never nominated for an Oscar. But he was nominated for an Emmy and several Golden Globe Awards, and he won a SAG Award for being in the cast of “Apollo 13.”)

“Once Upon a Time” Season 6 returns from hiatus next Sunday, March 5.
