  • Jennifer Morrison Wraps ‘Once Upon a Time’ Series Finale: ‘Wow! What a Journey’

We’re less than two months away from “Once Upon a Time” Season 7 finale, which is also the series finale.

Many original cast members are returning for the series finale, including Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming), Emilie de Ravin (Belle), Jared Gilmore (young Henry), Sean Maguire (Robin Hood), Robbie Kay (Peter Pan), Joanna Garcia (Ariel), Victoria Smurfit (Cruella De Vil), Tony Amendola (Marco), Lee Arenberg (Leroy), Keegan Tracy (Mother Superior), and Bev Elliott (Granny Lucas).

Fans were thrilled to also hear that Jennifer Morrison would be returning as Emma Swan. Morrison left the show after Season 6, and made it clear she would only return for one episode of Season 7. That was Episode 2, which aired back in October, and she posted several farewell memories at the time in honor of Emma’s final episode.

Well, this time it really is Emma’s final episode (unless they revive the show). Morrison returned to Instagram after wrapping her series finale scenes — which required a wig, since she cut her hair after leaving OUAT.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Series Finale to Bring Back Emma, Snow White, Prince Charming

“Once Upon a Time” is ending happily ever after.

When ABC’s fairytale drama ends after seven seasons on May 18, it’ll say goodbye with the original cast members. Showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis announced today that Jennifer Morrison (Emma), Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming) and Emilie de Ravin (Belle) will all appear in the two-night series finale.

They join a lineup of already-announced familiar faces returning for the finale, including Jared Gilmore (young Henry) and Sean Maguire (Robin Hood).

Morrison, Goodwin, and the others departed “OUAT” at the end of last season. Season 7 then rebooted the show, centering it on an older version of Henry (Andrew J. West) and remaining stars Lana Parrilla (Regina), Robert Carlyle (Rumplestiltskin), and Colin O’Donoghue (Captain Hook).

Now, the whole gang will be reunited to close the book on “OUAT.”

“Seven years after we set off on this magical journey, we prepare to say goodbye to the cast, crew and writers that made the ‘happily ever after’ that is ‘Once Upon a Time’ possible. We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to say farewell than by reuniting so many of the characters that our fiercely loyal fans spent years with on their adventures,” Kitsis and Horowitz said in a statement.

“We hope everyone joins our ‘Once’ family, old and new, for what we hope will be the sendoff of a lifetime befitting this stellar cast and its incomparable fans.”

  • Robin Hood and Other Familiar Faces Returning For Final ‘Once Upon a Time’ Episodes

ONCE UPON A TIME - "Dreamcatcher" - In Camelot, as Mary Margaret and David attempt to retrieve the Dark One dagger, Emma uses a dreamcatcher to look into the past to see how Merlin was transformed into a tree. Together, Emma and Regina figure out the critical ingredient they must acquire to free Merlin, but it's a race against Arthur, who does not want Merlin released. Meanwhile, with encouragement from his moms, Henry musters up the courage to ask Violet on a date. Back in Storybrooke, the heroes break into Emma's house hoping to locate Gold, but what they find will give them a glimpse of Emma's end game. Far from prying eyes, Merida sets about the mission Emma has tasked her with and begins molding Gold into the hero they need to draw Excalibur, on "Once Upon a Time," SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/Dean Buscher)SEAN MAGUIRE, COLIN O'DONOGHUEWhen the story book closes on “Once Upon a Time,” it’ll be one big, happy family reunion.

ABC revealed on the show’s Facebook page that quite a few familiar faces will be returning in one or both of the final two episodes of the fairytale drama. They include: Sean Maguire (Robin Hood), Robbie Kay (Peter Pan), Joanna Garcia (Ariel), Victoria Smurfit (Cruella De Vil), Tony Amendola (Marco), Lee Arenberg (Leroy), and Keegan Tracy (Mother Superior).

It was previously announced that Jared Gilmore (Henry Mills) and Bev Elliott (Granny Lucas) would appear when the series takes a bow after seven seasons.

Last month, when ABC announced “OUAT” was ending, showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis teased that characters from the past would show up in the finale.

Last year’s Season 6 finale finished the tale of Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin), and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas). This season introduced an older Henry Mills (Andrew West) as well as new characters and new setting.

“We are not trying to replicate what we did last year. We feel like that was a perfect ender to that book,” Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly.

“We think we are going to wrap up the threads that we have introduced this year, and hopefully give people a big ‘Once’ finale sendoff in the grand traditions of when we do alternate world endings.”

“Once Upon a Time” airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Series Finale Won’t Tie Up All Loose Ends, EPs Warn

“Once Upon a Time” Season 7 is officially the final season, but it still has a lot of life left in it.

The story left off in December 2017 and finally returned with Episode 11 of 22 on Friday, March 2.

Show creators/executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz talked to Entertainment Weekly about what’s ahead in the series finale:

Horowitz: “It’s less about tying up every loose end, it’s [more] about the feeling, and that’s what we’re really striving for, which is the feeling of ‘Once Upon a Time.’”

Kitsis: “It’s one last adventure. It’s maybe seeing some old friends. It’s saying goodbye to the show and being reminded of all the things we love — if it was the twist on fairy tales, if it was the romance, if it was the swashbuckling, or if it was the magic. The last two hours for us is less about tying it up in a bow and just getting to hear the song sung one more time.”

EW said not to read that literally and expect another musical episode.

Kitsis: “The finale was going to be what we were going to do, and then we’re just not doing cliffhanger.”

Kitsis said they did have a pitch for a potential Season 8, if ABC had been interested, but they never got to the pitching stage. Kitsis joked that they’d “save it for the spinoff when they approach us in two years.” He’s kidding … but they probably will save that pitch just in case.

It’s possible fans will push for a revival at some point, even if it’s just to get all of those loose ends tied up. It’s not clear yet who will be returning for the big finale, but it’s hoped that the Charmings will return, if not their daughter Emma Swan. (Jennifer Morrison had said she’d only return for one episode in Season 7, and that was Episode 2.)

ONCE UPON A TIME - "The Eighth Witch" - When Drizella threatens the realm with a dark curse, Henry and Ella take extreme actions to protect Lucy and the others; and Regina is forced into making an unimaginable choice. In Hyperion Heights, Roni recruits Henry to travel to San Francisco to search for her sister, but when he learns Lucy has fallen unconscious, Henry rushes to be by her side. Meanwhile, Gothel earns the trust of Anastasia and the consequences of their budding relationship could prove to be fatal, on "Once Upon a Time," FRIDAY, DEC. 15 (8:00-9:01 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Jack Rowand)GABRIELLE ANWAR, ROBERT CARLYLE, YAEL YURMANThe Season 6 finale would’ve been a great series finale, but loyal fans continued to watch into Season 7 and have grown to care about many of the new “soft reboot” characters.

Series filming hasn’t wrapped yet, but the writers room is going dark after this week. Horowitz celebrated the bittersweet milestone with some tweets, including a gift from Captain Hook star Colin O’Donoghue:

“Once Upon a Time” Season 7 will continue airing into May, every Friday at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • Josh Dallas Joins NBC Mystery Pilot in First Role Since ‘Once Upon a Time’

“Once Upon a Time” hero Josh Dallas and his on-and-off-screen leading lady Ginnifer Goodwin left the ABC show after Season 6. Now that Season 7 has been confirmed as The End, we’re hoping both Snow White and Charming will return for the finale.

In the meantime, it’s good to hear that Dallas has also booked another intriguing role. According to Deadline, he landed the male lead in NBC’s missing plane mystery pilot, “Manifest.”

The plane in question disappears from radar during flight, only to reappear five years later after being presumed lost at sea. No time has passed for the passengers, but five years has gone by for everyone else, including their loved ones. Deadline says the series will follow the characters’ personal lives as well as the larger mystery “and purpose that is their destiny.” Here’s hoping for a “Lost”-style balance, with intriguing mythology and actual answers by the end.

Dallas will play Ben Stone, Deadline reports. He’s described as the “quintessential type-A father and intelligence analyst, Ben struggles against what he can’t control — whether it’s his son’s rare pediatric cancer or the mysterious voice that’s now inside his head.”

“Valor” star Melissa Roxburgh landed the female lead, playing Michaela Stone, sister of Dallas’ Ben Stone. “Wracked with guilt over a tragic accident, Michaela anguishes about whether she’s fit to be a police officer and fiancée. When she mysteriously returns years later after being missing, she finds her life with a strange new purpose.”

Cross your fingers that the pilot episode shows enough promise to make it to our eyeballs in the 2018-2019 TV season.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7 Set to Conclude Series

The “Once Upon a Time” fairy tale is coming to an end.

ABC has decided to cancel the series, Variety reports. The show’s co-creators, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, discussed the bad news with the publication, sharing that they’re disappointed but glad that the show lasted for seven seasons.

“When we premiered, we premiered against the World Series and football and we were literally every critic’s first pick to be canceled,” Kitsis said. “So the fact that we are now 156 episodes later, I feel like we have nothing to complain about. We have had a great run.”

When Season 7 kicked off, Kitsis and Horowitz knew “Once Upon a Time” might only last one more season given the major overhaul they’d done after Season 6. In fact, they prepared for ABC to opt against renewing the show. (A move to Fridays is never ideal.)

“We knew this was a distinct possibility from the moment the season started,” Horowitz said. “So it has always sort of been in the back of our minds designing things to wrap up the end of this year if need be.”

There are still eight more episodes to go before the series ends, and the co-creators promised they’ll bring surprises. When asked whether or not any original characters will return, however, they noted that they didn’t want to redo what they already did.

“There’s a chance that a few familiar faces from the original will be back, but we are very conscious of not wanting to take away the happy endings we gave last year,” Kitsis told Variety.

Fans will have to contend with more goodbyes, but they can at least know that they have been very much appreciated. Horowitz tweeted about ending the series on Tuesday and was sure to thank the loyal fan base.

“Their fierce loyalty and devotion was the real magic behind ONCE UPON A TIME,” he wrote in part.

“Once Upon a Time” returns on March 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

  • Watch Zelena Return to ‘Once Upon a Time’ … as a Spin Instructor Named Kelly

“All right, my cycling monkeys. Grab on to your bikes and FLY!”

“Once Upon a Time” in the Season 7 fall finale, which is the start of her multi-episode arc continuing into 2018. She’s not just returning as Zelena; her cursed identity is a bubbly spin instructor named Kelly. Classic!

We’ll meet Kelly in OUAT Season 7, Episode 10, “The Eighth Witch,” airing tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 15) on ABC.

Entertainment Weekly shared a great sneak peek scene introducing Kelly:

Rebecca Mader talked to EW about Zelena’s cursed identity:

“It’s hilarious. When Adam [Horowitz] and Eddy [Kitsis] first pitched it to me, I think I bent over laughing, because it’s so the antithesis of Zelena, who just wants to punch everyone in the face and have a glass of whiskey. My cursed character is the complete opposite. She’s super duper healthy and just adorable. It’s really funny. When you find my character, I’m in San Francisco, and I’m actually a spinning instructor, which is classic, because Zelena was never going to the gym ever. Why would you when you’re that powerful? Like, ‘I’m five pounds thinner,’ and then it happens. She has no idea who she is or what she’s capable of. There’s a lot of comedy in it.”

    Wicked funny always wins!

It’ll be great to have Mader back, especially when it was initially announced that she would not be returning for this semi-rebooted season.

“Once Upon a Time” Season 7’s final episode of 2017 airs this Friday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Adds ‘The Originals’ Alum as Lawyer (and Love Interest) Nick

HBO's 'True Blood' Panel - Comic-Con International 2014But is he also Flynn Rider?

“The Originals,” vampire James Kent on “True Blood,” and Ethan Lovett on “General Hospital” — will continue his fantasy heartthrob status on “Once Upon a Time.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the ABC show has cast Parsons in the recurring role of Nick, and he’ll first arrive in “Once” Season 7, Episode 8, airing Friday, Nov. 17.

Nick is described as “a confident and charismatic slacker-turned-successful-lawyer. He’s polished, but not stuffy or smarmy. A natural guy’s guy, Nick has an instant likability and always says the right thing.”

EW added that Nick is rumored to be playing the love interest of one of the other characters. So fans are obviously wondering which character. Some are also wondering if he might be the “Once” version of “Tangled” character Flynn Rider. Just because … why not?

Earlier this week, it was revealed that “Once” is also adding “Riverdale” star Tiera Skovbye as Robin, grown-up daughter of Zelena and Robin Hood. She, too, is meant to play a love interest. Are the two castings related? She is said to be arriving in Episode 10, the winter finale, just a couple of episodes after Nick.

“Once Upon a Time” airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

  • ‘Riverdale’ Star Lands Key Role on ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7

Tiera Skovbye is going from Polly Cooper on “Riverdale” to the older version of a familiar character on “Once Upon a Time.”

According to TVLine, Skovbye has been cast as Robin — the now grown daughter of Zelena and Robin Hood — on “Once Upon a Time” Season 7. She’s expected to debut in Episode 10, which is also the winter finale of the ABC show. According to executive producer Adam Horowitz, the Episode 10 title is “The Eighth Witch.”

TVLine said Robin is described as “a strong-willed good girl turned rebel who is struggling to define her identity. As the daughter of powerful parents, she can never seem to escape their shadows, which drives her crazy. Tired of towing the line, Robin is ready to break out into the world and find her own adventure.”

TVLine added that Robin will also be someone’s love interest this year, although they didn’t reveal the someone. Rebecca Mader is set to return as Zelena for several episodes this year, after she was initially not expected to be part of this “reboot” season.

This will be a recurring role for Skovbye, who also has the recurring role of Betty Cooper’s sister Polly on The CW’s “Riverdale.” Since the two shows seem to film in the same area, she can probably do both without worrying too much for Polly. But you never know.

“Riverdale” Season 2 is currently airing Wednesdays on The CW, “Once Upon a Time” Season 7 airs Fridays on ABC.

  • Goodbye, Emma Swan: Jennifer Morrison Shows Off New Short Red Hair

ONCE UPON A TIME - "An Untold Story" In the second hour, with the possibility of magic being destroyed and the fate of Storybrooke hanging in the balance, it's a race for Emma and Regina to track down Henry before Gold can find him first. Regina continues to struggle with her frustrations over her former evil-self and, elsewhere, Snow, David, Hook and Zelena are imprisoned and must contend with very two very disturbed individuals that may give Gold a run for his money. The season finale of "Once Upon a Time" airs SUNDAY, MAY 15 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/Eike Schroter)JARED GILMORE, JENNIFER MORRISON“Once Upon a Time,” actress Jennifer Morrison had long blonde hair like Sleeping Beauty, but now she’s more of a fiesty ginger like Ariel.

Last week, Morrison’s final “Once” episode as Emma Swan aired on ABC. She shared some memory lane photos to honor her character, but now she’s clearly moving on, showing off a brand new look to mark her fresh start.

Fans are loving Morrison’s bold and beautiful new style. This is not the first time she’s changed looks. Before “Once Upon a Time,” Morrison was well known for “House,” which gave her Dr. Allison Cameron several different hair colors from blonde and mousy brown to a dark brown.

Somehow, “Once Upon a Time” is continuing on without her, Friday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC.
