  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7 Comic-Con Trailer Opens a New Book

A new story is soon to come a-knocking.

ABC unveiled the latest “Once Upon a Time” Season 7 preview at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, offering a glimpse into the show’s new book. The trailer first visits the past and Henry Mills’s beginnings, and then it swaps out the young character (Jared Gilmore) with the adult version of him. Older Henry (Andrew J. West) immediately gets a surprise when a girl named Lucy (Alison Fernandez) arrives on his doorstep claiming that she’s his daughter and his family needs help.

We don’t know what trouble has befallen them yet, but the trailer does promise a new curse. The story will feature Cinderella (Dania Ramirez), wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine (Gabrielle Anwar), and wicked stepsister Drizella (Adelaide Kane), along with Tiana (Mekia Cox), Alice (Rose Reynolds), and more.

The struggle to reach happily ever after begins again when “Once Upon a Time” returns on Friday, Oct. 6.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7 Premiere Date & Teaser Revealed

ONCE UPON A TIME - ABC’s "Once Upon A Time" stars Andrew J. West as Henry and Dania Ramirez as Cinderella. (ABC/Eike Schroter)“A new book opens this fall” when “Once Upon a Time” returns — and moves to Seattle. (ABC should just go ahead and do a “Grey’s Anatomy” crossover.)

“Once” is now at San Diego Comic-Con, after revealing tons of intel last weekend at Disney’s D23 Expo. Today, Comic-Con attendees got to see the first teaser for OUAT Season 7, which ends with the premiere date: Friday, October 6. Yep, new day. No more Sundays.

ABC has yet to post this promo themselves; instead, it was sneakily shared by a fan, then picked up by SpoilerTV and TVLine:

Co-showrunner Adam Horowitz shared Season 7’s new Seattle-focused look in this pic from San Diego:

More details should be coming out this week, but you can catch up on the new Cinderella, young and adult Henry, and a possible Captain Swan baby, in the D23 news roundup.

The Season 7 premiere is called “Hyperion Heights,” which is also the name of Henry’s new neighborhood in Seattle, and now we know it’ll arrive on Friday, October 6 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7 Premiere May Reveal Captain Swan Baby

Is a mini pirate savior coming to “Once Upon a Time”?

The “Once” team was at Disney’s D23 over the weekend, with co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, and Captain Hook star Colin O’Donoghue talking up Season 7.

It was revealed that adult Henry’s (Andrew J. West) wife/young Lucy’s mother will be a new version of Cinderella, and the Season 7 premiere title “Hyperion Heights” is indeed a new location, the name of the Seattle neighborhood that Henry lives in.

We already learned that young OG Henry Jared Gilmore will return in the premiere to show why he left home. Could that be related to a potential Captain Swan baby? During D23, the showrunners were asked if Henry might have a half-sibling, from the union of his mother Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) and Captain Hook. Kitsis answered:

“We can’t say whether or not [Emma and Hook] have a child, but we can tell you we will answer that question in the beginning of the season.”

O’Donoghue is meant to be back for the whole season, and Morrison is scheduled to return for one episode. Will it be the premiere? That is still unknown.

    However, Horowitz added:

“We meet [Hook] in new circumstances [in Seattle] in the premiere. In the second episode, we really delve into what happened to him.” He added that “there’s a flashback story that explains a lot.”

Kitsis emphasized that this is “a new chapter,” not a reset of the past six years. And fans shouldn’t worry that Hook will move on with a new love interest. “I think that Emma is absolutely Hook’s soulmate, as we saw.” Kitsis said. “The Hook that we all know and love, his eyes are only for Emma.” Horowitz added, “How could he look elsewhere?”

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7 Adds Five New Stars to Cast

16th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball - ArrivalsIt’s out with the old and in with the new for ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” Season 7.

Deadline announced the arrival of two new series regulars and three recurring stars for the 2017-2018 season:

    SERIES REGULARS
    Dania Ramirez (“Devious Maids”)
    Gabrielle Anwar (“Burn Notice”)

    RECURRING
    Adelaide Kane (“Reign”)
    Mekia Cox (“Chicago Med”)
    Rose Reynolds (“Poldark”)

Who run the fairy tale world? Girls! There are no details yet on who they will be playing, but TVLine said that will be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con later this month. Here’s an early guess that Dania Ramirez (pictured at top) plays older Henry’s wife/young Lucy’s mother. Maybe she’s Moana, maybe Lucy is young Moana, maybe no one is Moana. Either way, that’s our guess.

39th Annual Kennedy Center HonorsAs you know, former “Once” stars Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Emilie de Ravin, Jared S. Gilmore, and Rebecca Mader left at the end of Season 6 (although Morrison is contracted to return for one episode, whenever that may be). Season 7 is meant to still include Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle, and Colin O’Donoghue, along with grown-up Henry (Andrew J. West) and his daughter Lucy (Alison Fernandez).

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7 Premiere Title Revealed, Along With New Location?

ONCE UPON A TIME - "The Bear and the Bow" - In a Camelot flashback, a chance encounter with Merlin, David, Hook and Belle gives Merida new hope in her quest to save her brothers from the usurping clans of DunBroch. Unwilling to leave anything up to fate, Merida brings Belle along on a dangerous journey that culminates with an invaluable lesson in bravery. In Storybrooke, Regina, Mary Margaret and David discover the spell that would allow one of Merlin's chosen to communicate with him, but when Arthur fails to reach the missing sorcerer the heroes grow suspicious. Meanwhile, Emma commands Merida to kill Belle in hopes of forcing Mr. Gold's heroic transformation. With Merida unable to disobey Emma's orders, Gold must find the courage to fight for Belle's life or risk losing her forever, on "Once Upon a Time," SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (ABC/Ed Araquel)COLIN O'DONOGHUE, LANA PARRILLA“Once Upon a Time” will reach new heights in the Season 7 premiere.

Co-showrunner Adam Horowitz shared the first semi-spoiler of the new season on social media, revealing the first episode’s title is “Hyperion Heights”:

    We have a draft! #onceuponatime #titlespoiler #season7begins

A post shared by Adam Horowitz (@adamhorowitzla) on

Sounds like a soap opera town, doesn’t it? Many fans suspect this is the name of a location, perhaps the new home base of the characters. As TVLine wrote:

“My very first impression is that Hyperion Heights will be the name of the new (Seattle-adjacent?) ‘home base’ for the series, seeing as Storybrooke, Maine will no longer be the primary setting. But as for the title’s obvious ‘DNA,’ Hyperion Avenue was the location of Walt Disney Studios prior to 1939, while Hyperion is the name of Disney’s children’s books imprint. Hyperion was also the name of a powerful Greek titan (the ‘God of Watchfulness, Wisdom and the Light’), as well as assorted Marvel comic book characters.”

Fans have also been reacting on Twitter:

FYI, here’s the Hyperion post Horowitz shared a few weeks ago:

A post shared by Adam Horowitz (@adamhorowitzla) on

But, to be honest, fans are spending most of their time commenting on the many cast and story changes for the new season, requesting the return of X or Y, or complaining about the move from Sundays to Fridays. (Don’t forget: Many of your favorites will be back, including the Charmings and Emma, even if just for one episode.)

There will be a lot of changes for Season 7, which will air Fridays at 8 p.m. on ABC this fall, and it remains to be seen how many viewers will stick around to see them play out.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Boss Previews Season 7 With Behind-the-Scenes Photos

This is literally where the magic happens.

“Once Upon a Time” co-creator Adam Horowitz just quit Twitter, but don’t you worry, he’s as active as ever on Instagram, sharing photos from his new office as he and the writers start breaking down the 2017-2018 Season 7.

Now we want to visit that waiting room, just to spend more time with the Charming family. Sigh.

“Once” Season 7 is going to be quite different from previous seasons, with Snow White, Prince Charming, Emma Swan, Zelena, and Belle all leaving as main characters. The story will instead follow older Henry Mills (Andrew J. West) and the daughter he didn’t know he had, named Lucy (Alison Fernandez).

Three main “Once” characters — The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle), and Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) — will be returning “but with new identities in a new city, facing a new curse.” They’ll join Henry and Lucy on “an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, fairy tale characters new and old search for true love, find adventure and once again take sides in the struggle of good against evil, as classic tales are once more twisted and reimagined.”

  • Cross Another ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7 Fan Theory Off the List

One down, nine million more theories to go!

“Once Upon a Time” fans are always looking for connections, to guess what new Disney, fairy tale, or other fictional characters might be coming to the show next. After the Season 6 finale, many fans thought Moana might be introduced in Season 7 — and for the record, we’re still on board with that theory. However, every so often someone wonders if the show will bring in characters from “The Chronicles of Narnia,” and when the Season 6 finale introduced adult Henry’s daughter as Lucy, some fans wondered if that was ABC’s version of young Lucy Pevensie of the Narnia series.

It’s not a bad theory. But it got shot down in TVLine‘s Ask Ausiello spoilers:

Question: I loved the Once Upon a Time season finale. Could they be doing Narnia next season? If not, I’m surprised by the name Lucy. But I could totally be reading too much into it. —David

Ausiello: Looks like you answered your own question at the end there, David. Matt Mitovich asked the Once creators if there is anything to be gleaned from the naming of Henry’s daughter, and they came back with a decisive “no.”

Yeah, that might’ve been a reach, but it’s telling that the showrunners gave a solid “no” answer, when they did not give a decisive “no” to the Moana theory. Instead, when a fan asked Entertainment Weekly about Lucy’s mother as Moana, co-showrunner Adam Horowitz dodged in his answer, deflecting that the portal doors weren’t necessarily meant to be seen as clues, they were “more of a symbolic thing” to show the large scale of the universe. But he didn’t say “no.”

When Season 7 premieres, three OG characters — The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle), and Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) — are said to “return but with new identities in a new city, facing a new curse.” They’ll join forces with a grown-up Henry Mills and his daughter Lucy on “an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, fairy tale characters new and old search for true love, find adventure and once again take sides in the struggle of good against evil, as classic tales are once more twisted and reimagined.”

  • 11 Reasons Charming & Snow Will Always Give Us All the Feels on ‘OUAT’

Snow White and Prince Charming (aka Mary Margaret Blanchard and David Nolan) are the real reason the heart eyes emoji exists. It doesn’t hurt that the actors who portray them on “Once Upon a Time,” Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas, are married in real life.

These two haven’t always had it easy, but they’ve stuck with each other through it all and we’re crying now just think about it.

Here are the 11 reasons we get all choked up anytime we think about their fairytale love.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 7: Showrunner Reacts to Moana Theory

Are you confident that Moana will be Lucy’s mother/Henry’s love interest in “Once Upon a Time” Season 7? Well, one of the showrunners has a message for you.

Many fans ended up on the same Moana page after the Season 6 finale, figuring the epic love story ahead between Henry and Lucy’s mother will be with Henry and Disney’s Moana. But here’s what one of the showrunners told Entertainment Weekly in response to a fan:

As soon as I saw the Polynesian mask on the portal door in the hat during the Once Upon a Time finale, I knew right away that Lucy’s mother will most likely be Moana. — Roger
Not so fast. “To examine those doors as clues to what Season 7 would be is not necessarily what they were there for,” EP Adam Horowitz says. “It’s more of a symbolic thing that’s telling us how big our universe is and that there are many places left to be explored.” So, it’s probably unlikely, but never lose hope!

But why “probably unlikely”? Horowitz never said it was unlikely, just that the doors weren’t necessarily intended as clues. It sounded more like the kind of deflection you use if you don’t want to outright confirm or deny something.

Speaking of confirming and denying, it’s confirmed that three main “Once” characters are returning as regulars for Season 7, but it sounds like they will also be changed — as in, with “new identities.”

Here’s what ABC said about Season 7 at upfronts:

After six seasons, the residents of the Enchanted Forest face their greatest challenge yet as The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) join forces with a grown-up Henry Mills and his daughter Lucy on an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, fairy tale characters new and old search for true love, find adventure and once again take sides in the struggle of good against evil, as classic tales are once more twisted and reimagined.

Afterward, according to TVLine, ABC boss Channing Dungey talked more about the “reboot” of Season 7, saying Hook, the Evil Queen and Rumplestiltskin “return but with new identities in a new city, facing a new curse.”

New identities? Lana Parrilla addressed that in a video Q&A with Gold Derby, saying, “I do know that we’re playing sort of different characters,” but she had no further details. “It’s all unknown.”

As a fan in the TVLine comments reacted, “What is meant by sort of different characters. does that mean new characters period or just that they are sort of different cause its the new names and ways they behave due to new curse?” TVLine’s Matt Webb Mitovich replied, “Well, that’s the $1 million question. And probably no new info until Comic-Con. So everyone should just sit tight!”
