  • ‘Supernatural,’ ‘Scooby-Doo’ Crossover Featurette Teases Dean-Daphne Flirtation

Shakespeare introduced us to star-crossed lovers, and now, centuries later, “Scoobynatural” seems to be giving us a star-crossovered romance.

The CW released a featurette Monday that shows the making of its “Supernatural” and “Scooby-Doo” crossover episode. The video highlights the fascinating and fun challenge of uniting the two very different shows, and in the process, it reveals a new, if temporary, love interest for Dean (Jensen Ackles). Specifically, one of the “Scoobynatural” episode clips shows him putting the moves on a member of the Scooby gang.

The tease comes as “Supernatural” producer Andrew Dabb explains that Dean is worried about how the Winchesters’ presence will impact the innocence of the “Scooby-Doo” characters given the danger he and Sam (Jared Padalecki) routinely face.

“He doesn’t want to corrupt them… except for maybe Daphne,” Dabb quips in the video.

Ackles apparently agrees, and he tells the cameras, “Dean gets very excited.” We then see a clip of Dean introducing himself to her and kissing her hand. Animated sparks fly.

Watch the full featurette below. Talk of Dean and Daphne comes around the 1:40 mark.

The crossover episode should be an entertaining change of pace. If you weren’t already excited, we bet you are now.

    “Supernatural” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

  • ‘Supernatural’ Star Jensen Ackles Teases ‘Something Big’s Coming’

“Supernatural” has big plans for the remainder of Season 13, and after recent comments from Jensen Ackles, we’re at peak curiosity.

The actor opened up to EW about how he’s watched his longtime co-star Jared Padalecki portray not just his onscreen brother, Sam, but also Lucifer, Gadreel, and other characters. Ackles, on the other hand, has only been Dean and the demon version of him. This “makes [his] job easier,” he says, but he hinted that he has a new challenge ahead.

“That is all going to change soon,” he told the publication of playing only Dean.

Ackles added that “something big’s coming,” seemingly hinting that he’ll take on one or possibly even more new characters, too, in future episodes.

That, of course, raises more questions, but we’ll have to wait for answers. In the meantime, Ackles has also had audio commentary recording duty. He shared a photo via Instagram Monday of himself in the studio alongside wife Danneel Ackles, who made her “Supernatural” debut as Sister Jo this season.

In addition to Ackles’s commentary and whatever surprises Season 13 has for us, fans can look forward to the much-anticipated “Scooby-Doo” crossover episode, which debuts March 29.

“Supernatural” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

  • Check Out ‘Supernatural’ Photos of Danneel Ackles’ Debut as Sister Jo

    “Supernatural” Season 13.

“Supernatural” Season 13, Episode 13 sounds pretty unlucky with all of the 13s — not to mention the title of “Devil’s Bargain.” But it will be a lucky day for fans of Jensen and Danneel Ackles, since the spouses will share the screen for her debut as faith healer Sister Jo.

Here’s The CW’s synopsis for the Thursday, Feb. 8 episode:

“Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles), and Castiel (Misha Collins) search for Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) who, meanwhile, strikes an unlikely deal with a local faith healer named Sister Jo (guest star Danneel Ackles). Asmodeus (guest star Jeffrey Vincent Parise) inches closer to finding Jack (Alexander Calvert).”

Entertainment Weekly shared the first look photos, showing Sister Jo working as a faith healer, and also doing something or other with Dean and Sam:

And here’s the “Devil’s Bargain” promo:Danneel has teased some behind-the-scenes photos leading up to her debut on the show:

Danneel and Jensen costarred in the 2007 film “Ten Inch Hero.” They’ve been married since 2010 and have three children together. She’s also known for her years on “One Tree Hill” and “One Life to Live,” along with the “Harold & Kumar” movies.

“Supernatural” Season 13 continues Thursdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.

  • ‘Supernatural’ Casts Jensen Ackles’ Wife Danneel in Her First TV Role in Years

19th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards - Red CarpetWelcome back, Danneel Harris Ackles!

According to “Supernatural” Season 13, starting in Episode 13, “Devil’s Bargain.” Her character, named Sister Jo, is described as “a well-known faith healer whose good works attract the attention of someone very, very bad: Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino).” Intriguing… Wayward Sisters connection, perhaps?

Danneel is known for her years on “One Tree Hill” and “One Life to Live,” along with the “Harold & Kumar” movies.

She’s also known for her marriage to “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester), with whom she starred in the 2007 film “Ten Inch Hero.” They’ve been married since 2010 and have three children together — a daughter born in May 2013 and twins (boy and girl) born in December 2016. That’s probably why Danneel hasn’t been on screen much in the past few years, with only a couple of roles since 2012. (Her most recent roles seem to be a TV movie and a digital short — from “Supernatural” star Misha Collins — both in 2014.)

But now husband and wife are reteaming for lucky “Supernatural” Season 13.

Episode 9, “The Bad Place,” is up next, airing Thursday, December 7 at 8 p.m. on The CW. Danneel’s Episode 13 debut will air in early 2018.

  • There’s a New ‘Supernatural’ Spinoff in the Works, and Fans Already Love It

Supernatural --"The Future" -- SN1219a_0318.jpg -- Pictured (L-R): Jensen Ackles as Dean and Jared Padalecki as Sam -- Photo: Robert Falconer/The CW -- © 2017 The CW Network, LLC. All Rights Reserved“Supernatural” is trying again for a spinoff, and this one sounds perfect.

According to Deadline, “Supernatural” Season 13 will air a backdoor pilot for The CW’s new series, called “Wayward Sisters,” following “Supernatural” Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and a group of troubled young women, all orphaned by supernatural tragedy.

“Under Mills’ training and protection, the women will emerge as a supreme monster-fighting force. Unlike the original series, which centers on a biological brothers, Wayward Sisters is about a sisterhood of girls in a foster family.”

Deadline added that “Wayward Sisters” is expected to bring over other characters from “Supernatural” (including *possibly* Claire Novak, Alex Jones, and Sheriff Donna Hanscum) as well as introduce newbies.

    As the site continued:

“Jody, Claire, Alex and Donna have been the dream quartet of characters of a spinoff fans had been rallying for, dubbed Wayward Daughters. Named in part after the title of the Kansas song that opens every Supernatural finale, Carry On Wayward Son, the Wayward Daughters spinoff idea was the result of a grassroots fan effort that started two years ago, soon after Bloodlines, the first proposed Supernatural spinoff, did not go forward.”

Yes, and that may be the difference. “Bloodlines” was also introduced as a backdoor pilot, airing in Season 9, but that series never got beyond the pilot, and only featured new characters that viewers didn’t know or care about. This is seen as a response to fans calling for a spinoff around actual core characters.

So far, commenting fans — at TVLine, especially — seem to be very supportive of this spinoff idea. Now don’t mess it up!

“Supernatural” Season 13 premieres October 12 on The CW.

  • ‘Supernatural’ Star Mark Sheppard Confirms Departure: ‘Time for Something New’

Comic-Con International 2016 - 'Supernatural' Special Video Presentation And Q&ADeaths on “Supernatural” aren’t always permanent, but at least one of the characters killed off in the brutal Season 12 finale might be gone forever.

Less than a week after fans saw Mark Sheppard‘s character, Crowley, sacrifice his life, the now-former series regular posted a goodbye message. In an Instagram post Tuesday, he thanked his “Supernatural” family “for the ride” and said it was “time for something new.” Cue the tears.

All in all, his tone was somber, making fans all the more sad to see him go, if the post’s comments are any indication. “Supernatural” loyalists were quick to let the actor know that they’d miss him, wish him the best, and thank him for his work over the years. Sheppard had been a series regular since Season 10, but his time on the show dates back to Season 5, when Crowley was introduced as a recurring character.

While there is always hope that Sheppard could return in some capacity, fans will have to get used to the series without him in the meantime. The show will go on when Season 13 premieres this fall.

  • ‘Supernatural’ Fans Are Not Happy After That Brutal Finale

Fans are pissed after the Season 12 finale of “Supernatural” and they’re not holding back. Many took to Twitter, with some threatening to quit watching the CW show.

[SPOILERS! Do not read if you haven’t watched the episode yet!]

The last thing fans wanted to see was favorite Castiel (Misha Collins) being killed off in a battle with Satan. Especially as Collins was celebrating his 100th episode as the trench-coated angel. And he might not be quite as popular, but many will miss Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard), who went out with a heroic self-sacrifice. Also getting offed: recurring character Rowena (Ruth Connell).

Of course, being “dead” on this show is often temporary. Both Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have been to heaven and hell. And Bobby (Jim Beaver) hung out as a ghost after his death. So that definitely leaves the door open for any or all to return.

    Still, fans were flipping out:

Is Castiel really gone for good? Collins’s nostalgic tweet looking back on the best moments of his character seems kind of … final.

Then again, Castiel has come back from being killed by Lucifer before. Collins described the gory Season 5 death as “his favorite” to Cinema Blend.

  • ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Scooby-Doo’ Crossover? Yes Please!

SupernaturalRut-row! Dean and Sam Winchester are getting animated for a crossover ep with mystery-solving pooch Scooby-Doo.

“Supernatural” stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki announced the special episode at the CW upfronts in New York City, Deadline reports.

The crossover will air next year as part of the show’s 13th season. We imagine it will include ghosts that turn out to be land-grabbing neighbors, the team splitting up and lots of midnight snacking. Which actually sounds like a regular episode of “Supernatural.” Jinkies!

What else can we expect from next season? The CW’s official synopsis: “In the show’s twelfth season, the Winchesters were reunited with their long-dead mother, and joined forces with the British arm of the Men of Letters. But things turned from bad to worse, with the return of Lucifer and the surprising revelation that the Devil is expecting a child. Now, Sam and Dean find themselves facing a creature of almost unimaginable power… one that could save the world… or destroy it.”

Oh, saving the world. Just another Thursday night for the Winchesters.
