A “Supernatural” family reunion is scheduled.

With the CW series approaching its 300th episode, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is partaking in the milestone celebration. The “Walking Dead” actor is set to reprise his role for an upcoming episode, Deadline reports.

Morgan will again play John Winchester, the father of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles). He has portrayed the character in 12 episodes already, over the course of several seasons. John first appeared in the pilot and he was later killed in Season 2, but his character has still managed to pop in on occasion.

His upcoming return is only a piece of what producers have up their sleeves for the big episode.

“We’re incredibly excited to have Jeffrey back for this milestone episode, and think fans will love what we have planned for his character… and a few other surprise guest stars,” said Executive Producer Andrew Dabb in a statement, per Deadline.

Morgan continues to star as the violent villain Negan on AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” but as Dabb says, his guest spot on “Supernatural” will be a nice treat for fans.

The 300th episode is titled “Lebanon,” and it airs Thursday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Get this man a shield, er, suit!

Jensen Ackles is best known for playing Dean Winchester on The CW’s “Supernatural.” But he also voiced the character of Jason Todd/Red Hood in the animated movie “Batman: Under the Red Hood.”

Ackles just shared a photo next to the Red Hood suit, staging an “awkward” meeting between his two alter egos:

    https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmy9T4Wgrzc/

It was just a cute dual character meet-up, but fans are now hopeful that this could lead to a live-action Jason Todd/Red Hood project for Jensen Ackles.

He is already part of The CW, which has its own huge Arrowverse of DC characters. Jason Todd is a DC character.

So there’s an obvious partnership opportunity there.

    https://twitter.com/JAcklesCrew/status/1032686477145251840

Or he could skip the small screen and go straight to whatever DC/Warner Bros. is ever doing with itself on the big screen. We already have the DC Extended Universe, plus the DC Universe new subscription streaming platform. And there’s some kind of new banner of projects separate from the DCEU where Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie is landing.

Long story short, there are plenty of places a Jason Todd/Red Hood project could land, if anyone wanted to make one.

That said, it looks like the DC Universe is already jumping on that train with “Titans,” with Curran Walters said to be playing Jason Todd/Red Hood in the upcoming streaming show.

THAT said, DC is no stranger to having multiple people play roles on different platforms.

THAT said, Jensen Ackles is 40-years-old, and some fans think he might be too old for this role.

THAT said, Robert Downey Jr. is 53 and he’s still crushing it as Iron Man — which he was cast in 10 years ago when he was in his early 40s. Ryan “Deadpool” Reynolds is 41. Keanu “John Wick” Reeves is 53. Age is just a number, now more than ever.

For now, Jensen Ackles has “Supernatural.” Season 14 premieres October 11 on The CW.

    Supernatural Parody 2 still
    The Hillywood Show/YouTube

The break between “Supernatural” seasons just got more bearable: “The Hillywood Show” got stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki to appear in a video as their respective characters, Dean and Sam Winchester.

Called “Supernatural 2 Parody,” the hilarious video spoofs the long-running CW fantasy series by giving it some “Ghostbusters” flair. It follows the Winchester brothers (played by creator Hilly Hindi and and Osric Chau) as they go about their supernatural business, all while a revamped version of the “Ghostbusters” theme song plays. The lyrics were written by sisters Hilly and Hannah Hindi, who spoof the show to perfection.

The video and its song are plenty catchy on their own, but best of all, fans get to see some special appearances. As mentioned above, Ackles and Padalecki pop in, and they are also joined by their co-star Misha Collins (Castiel). Watch the parody below.

    Who ya gonna call? WINCHESTERS!

  • WB TV Reveals Comic-Con Hall H Slate Featuring ‘Riverdale,’ ‘Castle Rock,’ ‘Supernatural’

“Riverdale” will be temporarily relocating to southern California: Warner Bros. Television revealed its lineup this week for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and the hit CW series is set for its own splashy panel in Hall H.

Though the show — which just wrapped its second season — has had an annual Comic-Con presence since before its January 2017 premiere, this will be the first time it’s featured in the hallowed Hall H at the annual fan event. The panel will include what’s being dubbed as a “special video presentation” (perhaps including footage from the upcoming third season?), as well as a Q&A with the cast and crew.

Other notable standalone events scheduled for Hall H include a presentation and Q&A for long-running sci-fi show “Supernatural,” and the world premiere screening of Hulu’s new J.J. Abrams-produced Stephen King anthology series, “Castle Rock,” which will also be followed by a Q&A. All of the CW superhero shows — including “Supergirl,” “Arrow,” and “The Flash” — are also set to be featured, as is “The Big Bang Theory,” which airs on parent network CBS.

The full schedule of WB TV’s Comic-Con 2018 panels and presentations can be found here. The event runs from July 18 through July 22.

  • Why The CW Passed on ‘Supernatural’ Spinoff in Favor of ‘The Originals’ Spinoff

The CW just released The Originals” spinoff “Legacies” after “Supernatural” on Thursdays.

Some “Supernatural” fans are taking that as a slap in the face, since their The Vampire Diaries” has had two spinoffs in play — “The Originals” and now “Legacies.”

“Wayward Sisters” aired a backdoor pilot in January, and fans seemed to like it. But the network felt differently. The CW chief Mark Pedowitz was asked about not picking up “Wayward Sisters,” and here’s what he told reporters (via Deadline):

“We had really great material this year. We’re really exited about the five series we did pick up. We are big fans of the characters and the women who played the characters in the series, but we did not feel creatively the show is where we wanted it to be. We felt we had a better shot with ‘Legacies.’”

(Side note: Why did the two spinoffs have to compete? Why not find places for both in the schedule to at least give them a shot? They’re giving a “Charmed” reboot a shot, but not “Wayward Sisters”? Anyway…)

Pedowitz also said, Deadline added, that The CW executives are “big fans” of the “Wayward” actresses “and hope they continue on…guest starring on ‘Supernatural.’” They just won’t be on “Wayward” because he “did not feel it was where it needed to be to go forward with it this year.”

“Wayward Sisters” co-creator Andrew Dabb reacted last week to the bad news:

“CW has chosen to pass on ‘Wayward Sisters.’ We love these characters, and have spent almost two years trying to make this show a reality on the network… but there are some fights, sometimes, you can’t win.”

    Sad news for “Wayward Sisters.”

But good news for fans of “The Originals,” which is ending this year after five seasons. Now fans have more to look forward to. Here are details on Hope’s new spinoff:

    LEGACIES:

For the last decade, the iconic heroes and villains of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals have captivated audiences worldwide. They left an enduring legacy of love and family in their wake, which continues in LEGACIES, a thrilling new drama that tells the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.

It’s here that Klaus Mikaelson’s daughter, 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson; Alaric Saltzman’s twins, Lizzie and Josie Saltzman; and other young adults — including political scion MG and the mysterious Landon Kirby — come of age in the most unconventional way possible, nurtured to be their best selves…in spite of their worst impulses. Will these young witches, vampires and werewolves become the heroes they want to be — or the villains they were born to be? As they fight to protect their secret, their town of Mystic Falls and eventually the world, they will have to rely on ancient folklore and tales to learn how to battle their far-reaching enemies.

LEGACIES stars Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, Quincy Fouse and Aria Shaghasemi, with Matt Davis. LEGACIES is from Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios in association with My So-Called Company, with executive producers Julie Plec (“The Vampire Diaries”), Brett Matthews (“The Vampire Diaries”), Leslie Morgenstein (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Pretty Little Liars”) and Gina Girolamo (“The Originals”).

  • The CW Renews 10 Series Including ‘Riverdale,’ ‘Jane the Virgin,’ ‘Supernatural’

Looks like The CW was feeling generous this week: The network renewed 10 of its series for additional seasons.

The buzziest of the bunch is “Riverdale,” the modern-day twist on the “Archie” comic series, which will be back for season three in the fall. And there’s good news for some shows that were on the bubble, too: “Jane the Virgin” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” also made the renewal cut, despite dismal ratings.

Both “Jane” (which will be back for season five) and “CXG” (which will be back for season four) are likely to end their runs after those episodes, since producers had previously discussed having those specific number of seasons in mind when planning out their shows’ respective story arcs. Plus, “JtV” star Gina Rodriguez already spilled the beans about her series’s impending end.

Not likely to end anytime soon, though? The CW’s lineup of DC superhero series, which are all returning for the 2018-2019 season. And the Winchester brothers are proving that “Grey’s Anatomy” isn’t the only TV drama that can hang around for over a decade: “Supernatural” has been picked up for a 14th season.

The full list of renewed shows includes: “Arrow” (Season 7), “Black Lightning” (Season 2), “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” (Season 4), “Dynasty” (Season 2), “Legends of Tomorrow” (Season 4), “The Flash” (Season 5), “Jane the Virgin” (Season 5), “Riverdale” (Season 3), “Supergirl” (Season 4), and “Supernatural” (Season 14 ).

The flurry of renewals comes as The CW amps up its original programming, expanding into Sunday nights. No word yet on the fate of the just-moved freshman series “Life Sentence,” though with so much time to fill, the network may yet wind up throwing that show another season, too. Stay tuned.
