  • Netflix’s ‘Mute’ Trailer Takes Alexander Skarsgard, Paul Rudd to the Future

The future is now on Netflix.

The streaming service dropped the first trailer for its upcoming movie, “Mute,” from director Duncan Jones (“Moon,” “Source Code”). The sci-fi project is a labor of love for Jones that has been in the works for over a dozen years.

Alexander Skarsgard stars as a mute bartender searching for his missing girlfriend in the grim, shadowy streets of near-future Berlin. Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux play irreverent U.S. Army surgeons who get involved with his journey, all while pursuing a mission of their own.

Jones has described the story as a “sci-fi ‘Casablanca,’” with noir elements in a “Blade Runner”-like dystopian world. The movie is set in the same universe as the director’s “Moon” and Sam Rockwell makes a cameo as his character from that film.

The project has been in development so long that Jones even called it his “Don Quixote,” referencing Terry Gilliam’s famously doomed attempt at a film adaptation.

“Mute” begins streaming Feb. 23 on Netflix.

  • First ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Trailer Launches Beautiful New Partnership

    Meet the new dynamic duo.

Marvel released the first trailer for “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which brings back Paul Rudd as the thief-turned-tiny-superhero Scott Lang. The sequel teams him up with Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne, who gets a suit of her own.

They’re on the run, after Scott’s defeat along with Captain America’s side in “Civil War.” Her father, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), goes with them, packing up his entire tech company in a tiny cube (a great visual gag). Not only must Scott and Hope evade the authorities, they also use their suits to enter the Quantum Realm to find her mother (Michelle Pfeiffer).

The trailer has the breezy, heist-like tone of the first movie, but adds a screwball romantic comedy vibe that plays off the chemistry between Rudd and Lilly. Also starring are Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, and Laurence Fishburne.

“Ant-Man” and the Wasp” opens in theaters July 6, 2018.

  • ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Suit Up in New Photo

A new photo from the upcoming Marvel sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp” has arrived, and it finally unites our titular duo in all their superhero glory.

The image features Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd in character — and in Lilly’s case, in full costume at last — as Hope Van Dyne and Scott Lang, a.k.a. Wasp and Ant-Man. While we’ve seen Lilly before in part of her suit, this is the first time we’ve seen her fully transformed into her insect-monikered alter ego, and we’re loving all of her outfit’s subtle nods to her winged inspiration. From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes “Ant Man and the Wasp,” a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale,  Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John Kamen, Abby Ryder-Fortson, Randall Park, with Michelle Pfeiffer, with Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Douglas.

Kevin Feige is producing with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Charles Newirth, and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, Paul Rudd, Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari wrote the screenplay. “Ant-Man and the Wasp” hits U.S. theaters on July 6, 2018.

The photo is practically buzzing with anticipation, and we are too, especially considering Lilly’s previous comments about the characters’ adventures in this new chapter. According to the actress, the events of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” will have a major impact on the “Avengers” universe, potentially opening up new timelines for Marvel characters to explore on the big screen for years to come.

Of course, we’ll have to wait for the sequel’s premiere — not to mention the May release of “Avengers: Infinity War” — to know more. “Ant-Man and the Wasp” is due to hit theaters on July 6.

  • Paul Rudd: You’ll See More of Me as ‘Ant-Man’

Moviegoers have yet to experience rom-com staple Paul Rudd as a superhero, but he’s ready to don his “Ant-Man” costume again for the big screen.

“I figured that when you sign up for this that it can exist for more than just one—and in some form,” Rudd tells “Made in Hollywood.”

“I don’t know how or what the story will be, and I was excited by that—I still am, I can’t wait to find out where I go. I have some ideas, but I’m keeping some things to myself.”

In “Ant-Man” Rudd takes on Scott Lang, a former petty thief and father who helps his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, safeguard the Ant-Man technology – which allows its user to shrink in size and gain incredible strength. He can also communicate with ants and other high order insects through a specialized helmet, according to the comic book series.

With so much buzz about “Ant-Man,” it’s likely that Rudd continue with the character in a three-picture deal, as well as have appearances in cursory Marvel universe films.

Following “Ant-Man’s” release, he will reprise the character in “Captain America: Civil War,” in theaters May 2016.

Also starring Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, and Tip “T.I.” Harris, the comedy-action movie hit theaters July 17. Watch the trailer below:

  • ‘Ant-Man’ Star T.I. Calls Wolverine the Best Superhero

Ant-Man can shrink to the size of a real-life ant and just like the insect that bares his namesake, he can utilize its ability to lift more than 5,000 times its own weight.

And while those skills are impressive to many, it fails to impress T.I., who stars as Dave opposite Paul Rudd as the titular hero in “Ant-Man.”

Speaking to Made in Hollywood alongside his co-stars Michael Pena and David Dastmalchian, the rapper-actor reveals why “X-Men’s” immortal, metallic-claw wielding Wolverine is his favorite Marvel universe hero.

“Because he travels through different time periods and he has so many different loves of his life,” T.I. says, eliciting laughs from Pena and Dastmalchian. “In different generations he falls in love with different people.”

He adds: “I guess the claws are cool.”

The action-comedy co-stars Michael Douglas, who serves as Rudd’s character’s mentor, and Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll and Bobby Cannavale, opened July 17.

  • Paul Rudd: ‘I’m Not Heroic, Strong or a Good Actor’

“Nerdicity” isn’t an actual word, but if it were, Paul Rudd’s face would be next to it in the dictionary. In his long distinguished career, Rudd has been in a lot of movies, but, according to Jon Stewart, he is now the “pinnacle of nerdicity,” thanks to his role in “Ant-Man.”

“It is, it is the pinnacle,” Rudd told the host of “The Daily Show,” referring to his newfound superhero status. “I can’t believe that I’m here. I can’t believe that I’m in the world, that I’m in the Marvel universe.”

As unlikely as Ant-Man is a superhero, Rudd is equally as unlikely a champion worthy of fighting evil.

The affable actor joked that he is not “heroic,” “strong,” or interested in “saving the world.” In fact, he said that he’s “not even close” to being a good actor.

Kidding aside, though, Rudd did have a small sentimental moment for the outgoing TV host.

“You know what I’m gonna miss? Everything, like all of these people. It is the truth,” he said. “It is always a grind, you know. You have to promote, you do all of these shows. Every time with you, Jon, it’s different. Everybody feels the same.”

Stewart claimed that his show is different because he doesn’t actually prepare for interviews, something he apparently has in common with his guest.

    Rudd’s retort: “That’s why we’re a perfect match.”

  • Why Paul Rudd Loves Playing a Lesser-Known Superhero

He may not have the same name recognition as that other bug-turned-hero like Spider-Man.

But in Paul Rudd’s first foray as a masked do-gooder, he couldn’t be happier playing a character who is unfamiliar to most many moviegoers. The way the 46-year-old sees it, it is Ant-Man’s incredible superpowers that set him apart from his peers in the Marvel universe—and his skills will be enough to win over fans.

“I like the idea of playing a character that might not be so well known,” Rudd tells “Made in Hollywood.” “When you really think about Ant-Man and what he can do, it’s incredible—you’re invisible.”

In “Ant-Man,” radical new technology allows the user of a special suit to shrink to the size of an ant and balloon back to human size while its wearer harnesses super strength. As if that isn’t enough, the wardrobe’s helmet allows its user to communicate with ants and other higher order insects.

Rudd added: “Think about going anywhere, doing anything, seeing anything you want. Also, being able to control ants — they’re everywhere.”

The action-comedy co-stars Michael Douglas, who serves as Rudd’s character’s mentor, and Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, and Tip “T.I.” Harris, in theaters July 17.
