  • Paul Rudd Joins Jason Reitman’s ‘Ghostbusters’

Paul Rudd Joins Jason Reitman’s ‘Ghostbusters’

    Marvel

If there’s something strange in the neighborhood, who ya gonna call? Ant-Man!

Paul Rudd is joining Jason Reitman’s “Ghostbusters” reboot/sequel, according to Variety.

The “Ant-Man” and “Avengers: Endgame” star will reportedly play a teacher in the movie.

The new “Ghostbusters” is an extension of the original movie, which was directed by Reitman’s father, Ivan Reitman.

Not much is known about the plot, except that it focuses on a single mom (Carrie Coon) and her son (Finn Wolfhard of “Stranger Things”). Sigourney Weaver is returning as Dana Barrett.

“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ at Sundance,” Reitman said. “I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.”

The movie begins production this summer and is slated to open in theaters July 10, 2020.

2019 Oscars Reveal More Presenters, Including ‘Black Panther’ Stars

    Marvel Studios

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is desperately trying to win back some public goodwill, after a disastrous few weeks of poor decision-making surrounding the Oscars telecast. And one way it’s hoping to mend some fences is by inviting a bunch of awesome people to serve as presenters at the ceremony.

This week, the Academy revealed another round of stars who will hand out awards at the Oscars, which will air without a host for the first time in 30 years. It remains to be seen how that choice will affect the broadcast, but at least the banter between presenters should be pretty solid, if this lineup is any indication.

The latest batch of presenters is:

Elsie Fisher, Danai Gurira, Brian Tyree Henry, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Keaton, Helen Mirren, John Mulaney, Tyler Perry, Pharrell Williams, Krysten Ritter, Paul Rudd, and Michelle Yeoh.

They join the previously announced group from round one:

Awkwafina, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Tina Fey, Whoopi Goldberg, Brie Larson, Jennifer Lopez, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Amandla Stenberg, Charlize Theron, Tessa Thompson, and Constance Wu.

    The group from round two:

Javier Bardem, Angela Bassett, Chadwick Boseman, Emilia Clarke, Laura Dern, Samuel L. Jackson, Stephan James, Keegan-Michael Key, KiKi Layne, James McAvoy, Melissa McCarthy, Jason Momoa and Sarah Paulson.

And the previously snubbed — but thankfully finally invited — acting winners from last year:

Allison JanneyFrances McDormand, Gary Oldmanand Sam Rockwell.

The 91st Annual Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 24. The show airs live on ABC.

  • Fourth ‘Avengers’ Title, Trailer, Release Date Revealed

Fourth ‘Avengers’ Title, Trailer, Release Date Revealed

    Marvel Studios

After months of speculation we finally know the title of the fourth “Avengers” film and it turns out … it’s something people predicted ages ago. That’s right, your fourth “Avengers” film is subtitled … “Endgame.” This isn’t a huge surprise, even if you haven’t been scrolling through Reddit discussion threads looking for clues, as the title leaked on cinematographer Trent Opaloch’s official website earlier this year. (Also, it’s something that Doctor Strange says “endgame in “Avengers: Infinity War.” So there’s that.) Marvel Studios sneakily tweeted and posted the trailer on YouTube without the title, so you’d have to watch the moody two-minute piece. So why don’t we just do that now?

    Pretty neat, huh?

Chris Evans’ Captain America crying, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow plotting, Mark Ruffalo‘s Bruce Banner fretting, Robert Downey Jr‘s Iron Man floating and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye um, not being dead! Yay! Also, we love the button with Paul Rudd‘s Scott Lang coming to Avengers HQ volunteering his services (not explained: how he gets out of the quantum realm, which is where we saw him last, adrift, at the end of “Ant-Man and the Wasp”). It’s a pretty perfect teaser and definitely sets things up nicely for the battle ahead (fans, based on leaked set photos, have already speculated about a certain amount of time travel-y business going down). Also the trailer ends on an unexpected word: “April.”

That’s right – the movie’s release date has slightly shifted. Instead of opening on May 3rd, it will now debut on April 26, 2019. (“Avengers: Infinity War” did a similar shuffle.) I think I speak for everyone when I say: the sooner the better. Thanos has a lot to answer for.

  • Paul Rudd and Paul Rudd Costar in New Netflix Comedy Series

Paul Rudd and Paul Rudd Costar in New Netflix Comedy Series

Paul Rudd, I Love You Man
    DreamWorks Pictures

Double your pleasure, double your Rudd!

Finally, someone has granted our wish to clone Paul RuddThe “Ant-Man” hero has signed on for “Living With Yourself,” a new eight-episode comedy for Netflix.

In the new series, Rudd plays “a man struggling with his life who undergoes a novel treatment to become a better person. He then finds he’s been replaced by a new and improved version — revealing that his own worst enemy is himself.” But how could two Paul Rudds ever be bad?

Netflix’s is describing this as a “‘fresh and inventive’ philosophical comedy that asks if people really want to be better.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this project was originally ordered to pilot at IFC last year, although not with Paul Rudd. IFC’s budget was reportedly not quite in line with what the producers envisioned, so Netflix picked it up and here we are.

This won’t be Paul Rudd’s first Netflix series: He co-starred in “Mute,” “The Little Prince,” “Wet Hot American Summer,” and “The Fundamentals of Caring.”

No word yet on when “Living With Yourself” will stream.

  • New ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ TV Spot Wonders Where Scott Lang Was During ‘Infinity War’

If you were wondering where Ant-Man was during the events of “Avengers: Infinity War,” well, you’re not alone. This new TV spot for “Ant-Man and the Wasp” asks that very same question.

As Marvel previously revealed, the movie takes place before the events of “Infinity War” and after “Captain America: Civil War.” Two years elapsed between those two films, so that explains the lighter, funnier tone of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” (since all those you-know-whats haven’t taken place yet).

And indeed, the shot of Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) towering over a shrunken Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is pretty amusing. The TV spot also has some new footage and a better look at Randall Park’s FBI agent character.

The movie sees Scott and Hope, along with her father Hank Pym, attempting to rescue Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) aka the original Wasp from the Quantum Realm. Many fans are theorizing that the end of the movie coincides with all the you-know-whats at the end of “Infinity War.”

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” opens in theaters July 6.

  • ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Are Having Fun Saving the World in New TV Spot

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” are making a list and checking it twice as they go about saving the world.

A new TV spot for the Marvel movie is definitely a dose of lighthearted air after the downer ending of “Avengers: Infinity War.” As they’ve made clear, “Ant-Man and the Wasp” takes place before the events of “Infinity War,” so all the you-know-whats aren’t hanging over Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) head.

And proving two heads are really better than one, his team-up with Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) looks like it brings out the best in both of them — particularly Scott’s smart-aleck charm.

And though the tone of this movie is a nice escape from all the you-know-whats from “Infinity War,” it also seems likely that the ending of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” will dovetail with current events.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” also stars Michael Douglas, Michael Pena, Laurence Fishburne, and Michelle Pfeiffer, and opens in theaters July 6.

  • ‘The Catcher Was a Spy’ Trailer Sends Paul Rudd Into Nazi Territory

Paul Rudd trades in his Marvel superheroics for actual World War II heroics in the trailer for “The Catcher Was a Spy.”

In the movie, which is based on a true story, Rudd plays the titular catcher, Moe Berg, a former athlete and Ivy League graduate who speaks seven languages. He’s recruited by the U.S. espionage apparatus to go to Italy and track down scientist Werner Heisenberg (Mark Strong) to see how close the Nazis are to developing the atomic bomb — and make sure that the Americans do it first.

It’s a more dramatic turn for Rudd than his work in “Ant-Man” and other Marvel flicks, or comedies like the “Wet Hot American Summer” revival or the “Anchorman” movies. But he’s certainly proved capable of it in the past and he’s surrounded by a great cast, including Jeff Daniels, Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce, and Paul Giamatti.

“The Catcher Was a Spy” opens in theaters June 22.

  • ‘Mean Tweets: Avengers Edition’ Forces ‘Infinity War’ Stars to Face Their Critics

Yet another installment of Jimmy Kimmel’s “Mean Tweets” series has arrived, this time in honor of the release of “Avengers: Infinity War.” And just like every other edition of the long-running viral hit, the stars featured here have some pretty fabulous reactions to the harsh barbs tossed their way by disgruntled social media users.

Despite “Infinity War” scoring some insane box office numbers on its opening weekend — including the biggest first weekend ever, both domestically and worldwide — and continuing its dominance into its second week, there are still some people out there who don’t really care for our Marvel heroes. And boy, do they have zero problems airing their very pointed, oddly specific grievances on Twitter.

Scarlett Johansson, for instance, is compared to celery, while Sebastian Stan apparently looks like a potato. In non-food-related insults, people take cracks at “Black Panther” star Winston Duke’s legs and Elizabeth Olsen’s thumbs, and someone out there really, really has a passionate dislike for “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Dave Bautista.

But to be fair, the Samuel L. Jackson insult featured in the above photo is weirdly kind of accurate. So at least that’s a small win for Twitter trolls everywhere. (They really lose us, however, at the dig at Paul Rudd. Don’t you dare mess with our Crap Bag.)

  • New ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Trailer Proves It Takes Two to Make Things Go Right

It’s double the trouble, double the fun in the new “Ant-Man and the Wasp” trailer.

“Maybe you just need someone watching your back, like a partner,” declares Scott Lang’s daughter. And she’s right. In the sequel to the 2015 Marvel movie, Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) has teamed up with Hope Van Dyne aka the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), and two is definitely better than one.

The trailer definitely has a more light-hearted, jokey tone than most other Marvel films, especially the recent and very gloomy “Avengers: Infinity War.” “Ant-Man and the Wasp” actually take place before “Infinity War,” so it’s not weighed down by the massive events that happen in it.

The story follows Scott and Hope’s attempt to enter the Quantum Realm to rescue her mother, Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer). Of course, their mission is complicated by the fact that Scott is on the run after the events of “Captain America: Civil War.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp” opens in theaters July 6.

  • ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Trailer Tease Asks Where They Were During ‘Infinity War’

Marvel knows its fans probably have a million questions after the emotional rollercoaster that was “Avengers: Infinity War,” and it’s going to answer a big one this week: Why weren’t Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) in the movie?

Of course, that’s probably not the most pressing concern for MCU diehards right now, but it’s still an important query, since we already know that those heroes will be making some key contributions to next year’s “Avengers 4.” And according to a new trailer tease for upcoming “Ant-Man” sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” it looks like we’re going to see exactly what the titular pair were up to while everyone else in the MCU was off fighting Thanos in Wakanda.

The full trailer won’t be dropping until Tuesday, but Marvel also released a new poster for the flick (featuring new cast member Michelle Pfeiffer as Hope/The Wasp’s mother, Janet Van Dyne) to tide over fans until then. It’s hard to believe that another Marvel flick will be coming out so soon, since fans are still riding high after “Infinity War”‘s record-breaking opening weekend, but Marvel is nothing if not productive.

Stay tuned for the new “Ant-Man and the Wasp” trailer tomorrow. The movie hits theaters on July 6.
