  • Kevin Hart’s Snowball Kicks Bunny Butt in New ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ Trailer

As any “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” fan could warn you, you don’t want to mess with a rabbit. They may look cute, but just watch what happens when two guards underestimate Kevin Hart‘s widdle white Snowball in this new character-focused trailer for “The Secret Life of Pets.”

    “Liberated forever! Domesticated never! Yeaaaaah!”

The cat toying with the poop is the best part.

The animated comedy, which hits theaters July 8, also stars the voices of Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, Steve Coogan, Ellie Kemper, Bobby Moynihan, Lake Bell, Hannibal Buress, and Albert Brooks.

The story is set in a Manhattan apartment building, as a terrier named Max (Louis C.K.) sees his life as a favorite pet turned upside down, when his owner brings home a sloppy mongrel named Duke (Eric Stonestreet). But they have to put their differences aside they find out that Snowball the bunny is building an army of abandoned pets to take revenge on all happy-owned pets and their owners.

The first trailer for this movie was adorable and sold us immediately. Since they singled out Snowball in this preview, maybe they’ll launch others for Duke, Max, and the other pets before the summer release.

  • Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey Are ‘Elvis and Nixon’ in Wild Comedy Trailer

“House of Cards,” and now he’s Richard Nixon in “Elvis & Nixon,” a comedy opening this April with Michael Shannon as Elvis Presley.

The first trailer was just released, and even though it’s very tongue-in-cheek it purports to be “the untold true story” behind the December 21, 1970, meeting between the King of Rock ‘n Roll and President Nixon. That meeting resulted in (seriously?) the most requested photograph in the National Archives.

    Here’s the trailer:

Never would’ve imagined Michael Shannon as Elvis, but that guy can do anything. This thing looks like it will either be a comedy classic or a major miss, but it attracted a lot of stars, so it has potential. The cast includes Evan Peters, Colin Hanks, Ashley Benson, Tate Donovan, and Alex Pettyfer. Amazon Studios and Bleecker Street have scheduled the movie for an April 2016 release.

  • Here’s the First ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailer, Plus a New Poster

    Happy Thanksgiving from Marvel, everybody!

Last night, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (which airs on ABC, part of the ABC/Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm family) and chatted about making “Captain America: Civil War,” which comes out this May. But like the wise men for Christmas, they came bearing gifts. First, RDJ revealed the movie’s official one-sheet poster:

Then Chris Evans said he brought the teaser with him, meaning the first official trailer for the movie. They aired the 2.5-minute footage around midnight Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and it’s still trending now, with more than 1,435,000 views in just six hours.

    Here goes:

“Sorry, Tony. You know I wouldn’t do this if I had any other choice. But he’s my friend.”
    “So was I.”

Chills! “Civil War” filmed in Atlanta, and finished production in August, and RJD and Evans said the next movie would be shot in Hotlanta too. Here they are talking about it:

“Captain America: Civil War” will be released on May 6, 2016.

  • ‘The Boy’ Trailer: Lauren Cohan Is the Terrified Nanny of a Creepy Doll

We finally found a friend for “The Walking Dead”) as a nanny stuck taking care of a fake child. Or is he real?

Cohan plays Greta, who takes a job in a remote English village, not realizing at first that the job is to take care of a doll, whom the parents care for like the real boy they lost 20 years ago. You’d think caring for a doll would be pretty low-maintenance, but this kid comes with a list of do’s and don’ts, and when Greta violates the list, some disturbing ish goes down, leading her to believe this boy may be alive.

The doll kind of looks like a young Tom Riddle, so there may be some dark magic at work. Whatever is happening can’t be worth the pay or benefits, and it’s probably going to stop Maggie from ever wanting kids. (Sorry, Glenn.)

    Here’s the trailer:

“The Boy” is currently scheduled for release on January 22, 2016.

  • A-List Bad Cops Do the Dirty in Violent ‘Triple 9’ Red Band Trailer

The streets are sexy, dirty, scary, brutal, and did we mention sexy (that’s for you, Norman Reedus) in the new red band trailer for “Triple 9.”

The code “Triple 9” is used for an officer down. This heist movie, directed by John Hillcoat and starring a dozen Hollywood standouts — including Casey Affleck, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Norman Reedus, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, to name a few — follows a group of corrupt cops and criminals who plan the murder of a police officer to pull off a major heist.

The trailer shows as much sex, violence, bad words, and bare boobs and booty as you’d expect from a crime thriller red band trailer. It starts with Woody Harrelson chiding fellow officer Casey Affleck that his job is not to make a f–king difference, it’s to “out monster the monster and get home at the end of the night.”

Cue a creepy version of “This Little Piggy…” as we see cops vs. civilians, stuff blowing up, and what looks like several Deadpool cosplay characters running around at the end. (Probably not their intention, but still.) The trailer teases, “On these streets, nothing is black and white.”

    Check it out:

    Watch the trailer.

“Triple 9” is scheduled for release on February 19, 2016. February is not known to be an impressive release month for movies, but maybe this will be one of the exceptions. After all, “summer” starts earlier ever year!

  • Watch Ben Foster’s Egomaniacal Lance Armstrong in ‘The Program’ Trailer

Did the real Lance Armstrong ever say “I’m Lance Armstrong and I will not be brought down”? Or “I have the money and the power to destroy you”? He may as well just twirl a mustache and cackle.

The fallen racing hero certainly comes off as arrogant in a new trailer for “The Program,” which features the amazing Ben Foster in the lead role. The movie, directed by Stephen Frears (“High Fidelity,” “The Queen”), stars Chris O’Dowd as Irish sports journalist David Walsh, who investigated the too-good-to-be-true story of Lance recovering from cancer only to become superman. Sadly, we now know it was too good to be true and Lance was using performance enhancing drugs, aka he was on “the program,” along with other cyclists.

“Lance Armstrong, handsome young inspirer of millions cannot possibly be a cheat,” Walsh says at one point. “He’s clearly doping and nobody else can see it.” Cue trailer shots of Lance privately doping, but repeating in public, “I am the most tested athlete on the face of the planet. … I have never tested positive for performing enhancing drugs.”

The movie is based on Walsh’s book “Seven Deadly Sins” and co-stars Dustin Hoffman, Lee Pace and Jesse Plemons (“Breaking Bad”). “The Program” showed at the Toronto Film Festival and now we just have to wait to see when it makes its way from limited release to the rest of us.

  • Nicolas Cage’s Son Goes Missing on Halloween in ‘Pay the Ghost’ Trailer

Don’t lose your child on Halloween — or any other day, but apparently 10/31 is just an especially bad time for that kind of thing. Nicolas Cage and Sarah Wayne Callies (aka Lori on “The Walking Dead”) play desperate parents in the horror movie “Pay the Ghost.” The creepy first trailer was just released, along with the tease, “Every Halloween, evil walks among us.” Cue Cage and his son walking together, in costume, at a carnival. Nicolas’ son goes missing for a moment, then returns to ask if his dad paid the ghost. (He’s like an undead collections agent.) Then he goes missing again.

Dad: “All I had to do was protect him. Isn’t that what a father does – protects?”

This launches Cage’s quest to find his own son, plus the other kids who’ve been taken/gone missing on Halloween.

    Here’s the trailer:

Rick Grimes would never let this happen to Carl. Just saying.

“Pay the Ghost” is coming out next week on September 25.

  • Will Smith Takes on the NFL in First ‘Concussion’ Trailer

Are you ready for some football … brain injuries as diagnosed by Will Smith in “Concussion”?

The A-lister plays real-life forensic pathologist and neuropathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu, who discovered chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in the brains of NFL players and fought for the truth to be known. Peter Landesman (“Parkland”) directed “Concussion,” which was produced by Ridley Scott, based on the 2009 GQ article “Game Brain.”

Peter King just shared the movie’s first trailer in his Sports Illustrated column:

“Concussion” opens on Christmas Day, so maybe we can expect Will Smith’s name to come up on Oscar lists, for his portrayal of the Nigeria-born doctor. The movie also stars Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Arliss Howard, Paul Reiser, David Morse, and Albert Brooks.

  • First Trailer for ‘The Witch’ Is Here: Let the Horror Buzz Begin!

If “The Crucible” and “The Village” had an evil, terrifying, but critically-adored baby … it might look something like “The Witch.”

And then that baby might get stolen by a witch, as teased in the horror film’s unsettling first trailer.

“The Witch,” the feature film debut of writer-director Robert Eggers, was a smash at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize and won the Directing Award. It promises to be a hit with the horror set when it arrives in 2016, although we’ll have to wait for a more specific release date.

“The Witch” follows a 1630s colonial New England family who are forced to leave their town due to the parents’ devout religious beliefs. They create a new home on the edge of a wood, but when their newborn son goes missing, religious hysteria takes over, and the family members turn on each other as they unravel.

As Entertainment Weekly noted, director Robert Eggers previously worked as a production designer, costume designer and art director, and you can see the influences in the stunning visuals of the trailer:

  • First ‘Carol’ Trailer Shows Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara Falling in Love

Ah, l’amour. Cate Blanchett plays the rich married title character “Carol,” who falls in love with a 20-year-old department store clerk named Therese (Rooney Mara) in Todd Haynes‘ adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s 1952 romance novel “The Price of Salt.” The dreamy first teaser trailer was just dropped, set to Margaret Whiting’s rendition of “My Foolish Heart.”

    Here’s the trailer:

That song! It just makes us want to float around the room and swoon. Sigh. This story of “love against the odds” has the glamorous backdrop of New York in the 1950s. Director Todd Haynes (“Far From Heaven,” “Mildred Pierce”) already has experience covering gay relationships in this time period, and now he’s showcasing a romantic lesbian affair.

“Carol” also stars Kyle Chandler — as Carol Aird’s husband Harge Aird — along with Sarah Paulson, Jake Lacy, Cory Michael Smith, and Carrie Brownstein. The movie is scheduled for a limited release on November 20, and we may just hear more about it come Oscar time.
