  • First ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ Trailer Has Viewers Asking the Wrong Question

Whodunnit? That’s what many fans are asking after the first star-studded trailer for “Murder on the Orient Express,” but they don’t mean the murder.

Instead, after admiring the cast and mystery set-up, many viewers are wondering who decided Imagine Dragons’s “Believer” was a fitting song choice for an Agatha Christie adaptation set in the early 20th century.

Or, as one put it in Collider‘s comments, “I could care less about who the murderer in the film is, I just want to know the murderer to my ears who thought that this trailer needed Imagine Dragons to catch the viewers attention. Who the f*ck thought that was a good idea?!?”

Ah, mon ami. That is the true mystery. There are also questions about director Kenneth Branagh’s facial hair and strong accent as Hercule Poirot, but that’s just Branagh being Branagh. He’ll chew the scenery the whole time. Just let him have his fun.

But these questions distract from the murder mystery, which — conspiracy! — may have been the whole point. ‘Cause otherwise people might just go and read the book for spoilers, or go back to complaining about Johnny Depp. (Some fans are pleased that he seems to be the movie’s victim, which is problematic on its own.)

Anyway, music aside, the trailer has us hooked. Here it is, complete with handy graphics to let us know who is who:And here’s the synopsis:

What starts out as a lavish train ride through Europe quickly unfolds into one of the most stylish, suspenseful and thrilling mysteries ever told. From the novel by best selling author Agatha Christie, “Murder on the Orient Express” tells the tale of thirteen strangers stranded on a train, where everyone’s a suspect. One man must race against time to solve the puzzle before the murderer strikes again.

The full A-list cast includes Tom Bateman, Kenneth Branagh, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom, Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Marwan Kenzari, Olivia Colman, Lucy Boynton, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Sergei Polunin.

“Murder on the Orient Express” opens in theaters November 10.

  • The 9 Best Movie Trailers of 2017 (So Far)

Our favorite part of going to the movies? The trailers.

Sure, we get to watch them online several days before they hit theaters — but there’s nothing like seeing them on the big screen with a trough full of expensive popcorn in your lap.

If these trailers are any indication, 2017 is poised to be a pretay, pretay big year for movies. Here are the year’s best previews for both movies coming soon to a theater near you and those we’ve already seen/can’t wait to see again.

    9. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” Official TrailerYes, this franchise is very “been there, done that” with audiences after whatever the hell “On Stranger Tides” was. But we’re a sucker for ghost sharks and Javier Bardem doing the villain thing again. (And no, sharks — ghost or otherwise — don’t have snake-like fangs or rib cages. Because science. But we’ll give this movie a pass.)

    8. Atomic Blonde” Trailer 2
Charlize Theron invents new levels of kick-punching violence as her lethal spy turns a stairwell into a UFC octagon in this trailer. Before we watched this preview, “Blonde” had our curiosity. Now, it has our attention — and our money on opening weekend.

    7. “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” Teaser Trailer
You know why this teaser is great. You’ve watched it at least a fabillion times this week already. Now, less reading and more watching it again.

    6. Baby Driver” Trailer 1
This trailer is like a club Stefon would pitch; it has everything — Car chases, a sassy Kevin Spacey, and foot-tappin’ needle drops. We need this movie in our eye holes now. Thankfully, after the film received a great reception at SXSW earlier this year, Sony cut down our wait time and moved the film up from August to June 28.

    5. “War for the Planet of the Apes” Trailer 2
For two a-mah-zing films, the rebooted franchise has been building to an epic showdown between man and ape. This trailer proves that director Matt Reeves is going to deliver on that — and then some. Expect lots of explosions in between Caesar giving you all the feels.

    4. Stephen King’s “IT” Trailer 1Scariest trailer ever? Scariest trailer ever. This trailer for Pennywise’s much-anticipated trip will give you a serious case of day terrors. I mean, just writing about it now, I can’t even — *rocks back and forth in corner.

    3. “It Comes at Night” TrailerWe don’t know what the “It” here is, but we’re pretty sure it would make Stephen King’s murder clown blush. It’s already made us cry four times while writing this.

    2. “Thor: Ragnaok” Trailer 1
Thank the gods of Asgard for this movie, and for giving us our new favorite GIF:

    1. “Logan” Trailer 2
One of the best X-Men movies ever gives the franchise arguably its best trailer ever. From the moody use of Kaleo’s “Way Down We Go” on the soundtrack, to the gonna-make-you-teary-eyed VO from Charles Xavier (RIP), this trailer resonates long after the final credits roll.

Watching it again makes you just as excited to see “Logan” for a second time as you were upon first viewing. The best compliment we can give this trailer is that we wish we made it.

  • Stay Out of the Woods: A New ‘Blair Witch’ Trailer Is Here

Blair WitchCancel your camping plans, because a new “Blair Witch” trailer is here to scare you away from the woods.

Released today by Collider, the preview makes the upcoming horror flick look every bit as terrifying as its predecessors, 1999’s “The Blair Witch Project” and 2000’s “Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.” The film follows James (played by James Allen McCune) and a group of fellow college students as they take a trip into Maryland’s Black Hills Forest to see what they can find out about the mysterious disappearance of his sister. There, they get more than they bargained for, and naturally, it is the stuff of nightmares. According to the film’s official synopsis, “the group is visited by a menacing presence,” and “they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.”

The footage is just as eerie as that sounds. A word to the wise? If you ever come upon the entrance to a creepy underground tunnel and you think, “I don’t want to go in there … let’s not go,” go with your gut.'Blair Witch' (2016) Trailer 3

“Blair Witch” stars McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Corbin Reid, and Wes Robinson. The film hits theaters on Sept. 16.

  • Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood Are Bumbling Bad Cops in ‘The Trust’ Trailer

“The Trust” already seems like a perfect buddy cop movie, with the cops — played by Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood — being bored officers who attempt to rob a vault at the back of a grocery store. What could go wrong?

The first trailer and poster were just released, ahead of the movie’s premiere at SXSW. The poster makes it look like a potentially serious thriller, but the trailer strikes a comedic tone — and hopefully the film follows suit, because the comedy of Cage being Crazy Cage and Wood being Innocent Big-Eyed Elijah is already so beautiful. They just work together, especially when they’re not quite working well with others.

Cage plays Jim Stone, with Wood as David Waters. Here’s the synopsis, via Flickering Myth:

“Waters and Stone are two nobody police officers working dull administrative jobs and making extra money selling stolen Civil Service Exams to other officers. When Stone hears a story about a heroin dealer quickly beating his extremely high bail, the two friends set into motion a plan to find the origin of such a large amount of cash. Through diligent police work they follow a trail that leads directly to a custom bank-style vault built into the back room freezer of a small grocery store. They put a plan into motion to rob the vault and split whatever they find inside. But by the time they figure out what the vault contains, it’s already too late to turn back.”

Now that you know “the drill” (that joke will make sense in a minute), here’s the trailer:

    Here’s the full poster:

“The Trust” premieres exclusively on DIRECTV CINEMA, and you can head here to find more information.

  • The ‘Batman v Superman’ Trailers Are Even Better in This Chronological Edit

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” opens one month from today, on March 25. The awesome final trailer came out a couple of weeks ago, and we figured that was going to be it in terms of videos to watch before the big DC showdown. But not so fast. One YouTuber, M1llion, was ambitious enough to create an impressive supercut of all the “Batman v Superman” trailers and clips in possible story order, to try and give fans a chronological look at what’s ahead.

Some fans may have watched the previous trailers and worried that Warner Bros. was giving away the entire story, but we’ve only really seen 10 minutes in a 2 hour, 31 minute film.

    Check out the supercut:

The scene transitions are a little bit choppy, but it’s a good big picture reminder of what’s ahead when makes his debut as Batman vs. ‘s return as the Man of Steel. Oh, and don’t forget Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, who is currently shooting her own movie for release next year.

  • ‘The Light Between Oceans’ Trailer Has Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Heartbreak

“The Light Between Oceans” is a vague title, but it’s one of those dilemma dramas that forces you to ask yourself “What would you do?” when both options would be painful.

Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander — Oscar nominees who are apparently dating in real life, because they’re not perfect enough on their own — star in the film adaptation of M.L. Stedman’s Australian novel. The first trailer was just released, co-starring Rachel Weisz.

The story, set in the early 20th Century, follows married couple Tom (Fassy) and Isabel (Vikander), who live in a remote lighthouse off the Australian coast. One day, a baby girl mysteriously washes ashore in a boat, and they take her in. However, things get complicated years later when they discover the girl was not abandoned or orphaned. Instead, the baby and father were thought to be lost at sea, and the biological mother, Hannah (Weisz), desperately wants her child back. So what would you do? Give the baby back, even though she has been your daughter for years?

    Watch the trailer:

“The Light Between Oceans” is scheduled for release September 2nd, 2016.

  • Emilia Clarke Falls for Paralyzed Sam Claflin in Heartbreaking ‘Me Before You’ Trailer

Khaleesi + Finnick = Please Take Our Money and Pass the Kleenex. “Game of Thrones” queen Emilia Clarke has a new sun and stars in “Hunger Games” hero Sam Claflin, and the first trailer for their romantic drama “Me Before You” already has us swooning.

Emilia Clare plays the sweet and slightly ditzy Louisa Clark, who gets a job taking care of the recently paralyzed and now depressed Will Traynor (Sam Claflin).

It sounds like she’s the classic manic pixie dream girl who brings the guy out of his shell and gives him a reason to live, but there’s more to the story than that. The film is based on the novel by British author Jojo Moyes, who also wrote the screenplay. The all-star cast includes “Doctor Who” alum Jenna Coleman as Katrina Clark, “Game of Thrones” alum Charles Dance as Steven Traynor, Janet McTeer as Camilla Trainor, and Matthew Lewis as Patrick. Brendan Coyle (Mr. Bates on “Downton Abbey”) co-stars as well, as you can see in the trailer:

“Me Before You” is scheduled for release on June 3. Are you ready to volunteer as ticket-buying tribute?

  • First ‘Bourne 5’ Trailer Among Movie Promos Expected at 2016 Super Bowl

Are you ready for your first look at “The Bourne Betrayal”? Or “The Bourne Deception”? Or “The Bourne Something Else Entirely”? Matt Damon‘s return as Jason Bourne is still just being called “Bourne 5,” but the official title and first trailer will supposedly be revealed this Sunday during the 2016 Super Bowl.

That scoop came from author Eric Van Lustbader, who took over the Boune series from Robert Ludlum. The author posted this news on Facebook, then deleted it:

BREAKING NEWS! The first trailer for the new Bourne film will be shown during this year’s Superbowl telecast. At that time I believe you’ll find out the title of the film. (I know it, but I’m sworn to secrecy). So tune in on February 7th to check out all the excitement. I, for one, can’t wait!!!

Not sure why he removed that post, unless he was asked to. Previous to that, he wrote on January 18 that “My new Jason Bourne novel, due out in June will, indeed, be called ‘The Bourne Enigma.’” There are currently 12 books in the Bourne series, and any one of the unused titles could end up the title of “Bourne 5.”

“Bourne” isn’t the only film expected to make good use of the massive TV showcase that is the Super Bowl. The Hollywood Reporter shared a rundown of studios expected to promote upcoming titles.

“Deadpool” will have a major presence, they said, as Ryan Reynolds’s film hits theaters next week. THR said the cast of “Independence Day: Resurgence” — including Liam Hemsworth and Jeff Goldblum — will be at the Super Bowl, and events are planned for that movie, plus “X-Men: Apocalypse” and “Eddie the Eagle.”

THR said Paramount will advertise “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” during the game. Sources told the site Disney may also promote multiple titles, along they didn’t say which ones. The options include “The Jungle Book,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Zootopia,” “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” “Finding Dory,” and “Rogue One.” In addition to giving us at least the “Bourne” title, THR said Universal may also promote “The Huntsman’s Winter War” and “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.”

Basically, keep your eyes open for all kinds of movie trailers, amid the sea of Budweiser ads. And this is your last chance to throw down an official guess for the title of “Bourne 5,” which is meant to follow “Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world.”
