  • Jon Snow Is Dead, You’ll Be ‘Disappointed’ If You Think He’s Alive (Says Maisie)

Nothing ever stays dead on “Game of Thrones,” and that includes the debate about Jon Snow’s status. Did he die at the end of Season 5? Will he be alive in Season 6, which premieres next spring? The Powers That Be have insisted Jon did die and is dead, but then interviews and set sightings and stuff come up that makes it seem like Kit Harington will live to fight another day.

Now one of his co-stars is weighing in — and she didn’t just give a casual comment, she was definitive about the fate of Jon Snow. He’s dead.

Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) called into “The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show” in the U.K., and mentioned that she’s in the middle of shooting at the moment. Season 6 actually started filming in July, and Maisie said she’s “aware of the other storylines” happening around her as “We’re given the full script at the beginning of the season.” So she knows what happens not only to Arya — who is now blind, leaving Maisie’s own eyes in pain from contact lenses — but to everyone else.

The radio host asked if she finds that, everywhere she goes, people ask if Jon Snow is alive? She answered, “All the time. People are constantly asking me, and the answer is no. I’m very sorry.” But she laughed, so… The host returned to the Jon Snow question several times, at one point saying that Maisie knew the fate of Jon Snow. She said, “Yeah, he’s dead.” He immediately said, “[Jon] is not dead!” and called her a liar. Maisie responded, “I’m not a liar! I’m very sorry. I would know, of all people, after all. I’m the one that has the script.” Later, the host asked her to tap the phone twice if Jon Snow is alive. “I ain’t doing nothing,” she said.

At the end of the talk, the host said he was looking forward to seeing her and Jon Snow back in action in the new season. Maisie laughed and said, “I think you’re going to be a little bit disappointed.”

Hmm. A little bit disappointed? Our theory is that Jon Snow did die, but he won’t stay dead for long. Will we be disappointed or is she just trying to troll us off the scent?

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Actress Asks Peers to Refuse Generic Hot Girlfriend Roles

“Game of Thrones” but also appearing in the new season of “Doctor Who” — talked to the Evening Standard about how women can break out of the “hot girlfriend” box.

There are a lot of roles that come in that are ‘the girlfriend’ or ‘the hot piece’ in a movie or TV series. That’s something I’ve seen first-hand and read all the time. It will say ‘Derek: intelligent, good with kids, funny, really good at this’ and then it will say ‘Sandra: hot in a sort of cute way’ — and that’s all you get. That’s the way your character is described, so going into an audition you are channelling ‘hot’, which isn’t like a person, that’s not who a person is. That’s what I see and that’s what needs to change. I’ve been lucky enough to play a very great female character from a young age, who is a fantastic role model for girls. […] I just hope that if we stop playing those characters, they’ll stop being written.”

At that point in the interview, Maisie paused and laughed, saying, “It’s a very big thing to say for me, on behalf of all the women in this industry.”

It’s true, though! So many casting notices come through with the female character described for her looks with the male character including actual personality traits. Bless Maisie for pointing this out and calling for women to stop taking the roles, since it’s going to take people actually in the industry, especially young actresses in the industry, to force a change. It’s not enough to just sigh and shake your head at “the way it is,” you have to refuse to accept it and hope that other women do the same.

  • ‘Doctor Who’ Trailer Teases Maisie Williams’s ‘Surprising’ Season 9 Role

It looks like “Game of Thrones” star “Doctor Who” character is just as much of a sassy smartass as Arya Stark. But who is she playing in “Doctor Who” Season 9? The new trailer was just released at Comic-Con, with Maisie featured briefly in the end in a mysterious scene with Peter Capaldi.

    The Doctor: “You?”

Maisie’s Character: “What took you so long, old man?”
Now fans are speculating on who this character might be. A younger version of Clara, Susan, River Song, or … Other? Executive producer Steven Moffat didn’t reveal much of anything at Comic-Con, just saying, “It’s going to be surprising what she gets up to.” Back in March, when Maisie’s casting was announced, Steven said, “She is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”

    Here’s the trailer:

“Doctor Who” Season 9 premieres September 19 on BBC America. Do you have a theory on Maisie’s character?

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Maisie Williams’s Favorite Arya Scene Ever Is Coming

Arya Stark was not in the “Game of Thrones” Season 5 premiere at all, but this Sunday, April 19’s Episode 2 is titled “The House of Black and White,” and that’s where we’ll see Arya again.

Actress Maisie Williams teased some details of Arya’s return to Entertainment Weekly, but we shouldn’t expect to see it all in Episode 2. Arya isn’t just back for one episode, this is just where her strange new journey begins. No spoilers here, but part of that journey includes a new look…

“We did a scene where Arya throws away her old clothes,” Maisie said. “That was such a release. It was like, no acting required. It was totally like a next chapter. It was emotional, and so far it’s been absolutely my favorite scene to do. You’ve never seen Arya looking like this, and the way I’m shot is different too. It’s a breath of fresh air. It’s the first time I’ve smiled in Game of Thrones since episode 1, being fed pigeon pie. I’m really looking forward to people seeing me in a new light.”

Both Stark girls are transforming this season — Sansa now has dark hair for her own strange journey with Petyr Baelish, and we’ll have to wait and see what happens next for Arya. Maisie teased that Arya is “not treated amazingly” in her new home, but if anyone knows how to survive a brutal new world, it’s this girl. Just stick ’em with the pointy end!

  • Best of Late Night TV: Maisie Williams Shares ‘Game of Thrones’ Arya Clip, Kevin Hart Disses Will Ferrell (VIDEO)

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

“Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) was on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday night, and one of her videos included a clip from Season 5, which starts in just a couple of weeks on HBO. Maisie started playing Arya when she was 12, which is too young to watch the show, but she watched it with her whole family. They had to get her gran drunk when the boob scenes came on! She trained herself to sword-fight left-handed, since that’s how Arya was written and that’s what the fans expected. She admitted she hasn’t read the GoT books (“A Song of Ice and Fire”), though. The second video shares the GoT clip with Arya in Braavos. Kevin Hart was on “Conan” and shared his disastrous “SNL” audition. He was rejected from the show after doing an impression of somebody nobody knew; it lasted about two seconds, and he acted like it was awesome. Kevin also talked about working with Will Ferrell, who is in the top two of the people he’s ever worked with. Will is a great guy – “cheap as hell, though” and has never spent a penny. He’s still using the first BlackBerry they ever made, it’s taped up and looks like a dog ate it. Will is also one of the worst dressers he’s ever met. Poor Will! Kevin loves to spend money on clothes but gets offended if people don’t notice that his clothes are expensive. Haha. Elizabeth Banks – she’s hilarious – was on “The Tonight Show” and arranged a marriage between her sons and Jimmy Fallon’s daughters. She also talked about FaceTiming with her kids. Jimmy also shared “Freestylin’ with The Roots: Spring Edition.” Ben Stiller was on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” to talk about his new movie “While We’re Young.” One of the Beastie Boys is in the movie and Ben performed live with the Beastie Boys a few years ago. It was the most nervous he’s ever been. He’s a huge fan. Seth quizzed Ben on Beastie Boys lyrics. Ben also talked about the long-awaited sequel to “Zoolander” and taking tennis lessons in Rome. Elisha Cuthbert was on “Late Night” and shared her craziest “24” fan story – about a pregnant fan who pushed her first birth back so she could watch the show. Bill O’Reilly was on David Letterman’s “Late Show” and talked about Brian Williams and accusations of false claims. He boiled it down to America’s beloved sport, “Let’s Destroy the Famous Person.” He thinks Brian will come back. What Bill does is very different from what Brian does – editorial vs. hard news – but Dave said trust is at the heart of both viewpoints. Bill also discussed Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton.
