  • Behold Epic ‘Superhero Selfies’ With ‘X-Men,’ ‘Gambit,’ ‘Deadpool’ Casts

While David Ayer was mocking Marvel over at DC Comics’ “Suicide Squad” Comic-Con panel, the Marvel team took some epic shots of their own at the 20th Century Fox talk.

Check out Chris Hardwick’s photo with the great Stan Lee himself, backed by some familiar faces like Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Channing Tatum, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and more. As Chris noted: “Panel 10 – Hall H, @20thCenturyFoxPanel – I mean this HAS to be some kind of damn record. Most superheroes in one selfie? Casts of Wolverine, X-Men, Deadpool, Gambit, and Fantastic Four PLUS the Generalissimo!!!” You can quibble over whether this is really “selfie” or just a group photo but here’s the shot:

Channing Tatum tweeted his own version of the group photo, sharing his excitement to join the team as Gambit:

And here’s arguably the best shot, from 20th Century Fox:

  • ‘Deadpool’ Trailer Gets Encore at Comic-Con, Then Leaked Online

Comic-Con audiences tend to gush over everything, but they REALLY loved the new “Deadpool” trailer.

Fans have been promised “a hard R” from the Ryan Reynolds superhero movie, and the trailer features plenty of dirty language, a sex scene, action sequences, an avocado reference and … “Shoop.” Yes. According to Variety, the trailer is supposed to premiere online this week, but if you can’t wait, you can watch a bootleg version shot in the theater and leaked by a fan.

The trailer got a standing ovation during the “Deadpool” panel Saturday night, along with chants of “One more time!” So they played it again in an encore. Based on the footage, it looks like the encore version is the one that got leaked.

“Deadpool” is scheduled for release February 12, 2016, so there’s plenty of time for more footage to drop. Are you happy with what you’ve seen so far?

  • Producer Says ‘Deadpool’ Will Be Rated ‘Hard R’: ‘It’s Graphic’

deadpoolThere have been promises before that “Deadpool” will be a different breed of superhero movie, and that includes the film’s rating. Star Ryan Reynolds has said in the past that the flick will be rated R, and now, producer Simon Kinberg is doubling down on that declaration.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, in which he also debuted a new “Deadpool” photo (see below), Kinberg said that audiences would not be disappointed in the colorful, foul-mouthed hero’s onscreen representation.

“‘Deadpool’ is a hard R,” Kinberg told EW. “It’s graphic. Nothing is taboo. You either commit to a truly outrageous boundary-pushing kind of movie or you don’t.”

In fact, the flick is so dark that its director, Tim Miller (making his feature debut), linked it to a surprising source of inspiration.

“I felt ‘Fight Club‘ and Tyler Durden were good corollaries,” Miller told EW. “We are in strip clubs and dive bars and crappy apartments and far away from the shiny X-Men world.”

Check out a new photo from the flick below. “Deadpool” is due in theaters on February 12.

  • ‘Deadpool’ Is Done Filming, Ryan Reynolds Thanks Fans

ENTERTAINMENT-GERMANY-FILM-FESTIVAL-BERLINALEThe production of “Deadpool” has been a lovefest between fans and filmmakers, with titular star Ryan Reynolds leading the charge on social media. Now, with filming wrapped, Reynolds shared yet another note of thanks for the flick’s greatest champions: the fans.

In a post on Twitter last Friday, Reynolds confirmed that filming on “Deadpool” had officially ended, joking that he was “going to eat a samich” now that he didn’t need to stay in tip-top superhero shape. The film “has been a privilege to make,” the actor tweeted. “And we got to make this film because of you.”

Reynolds hasn’t been shy about sharing lots of insider-y looks at the flick with online followers, and his eagerness to recognize the support of fans throughout the process has been much appreciated. The actor isn’t kidding when he said that it was moviegoers who got the ball rolling on the long-gestating flick; Deadpool hadn’t appeared onscreen since his film debut in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” and after that flick’s middling success, it seemed Reynolds’s day in the spotlight would never come.

Thankfully for fans, everything worked out. “Deadpool” is due in theaters on February 12, 2016.

  • Ryan Reynolds Uninjured Following Hit-and-Run Near ‘Deadpool’ Set

'Woman in Gold' Photocall - 65th Berlinale International Film Festival
Ryan Reynolds was hit by a car last Friday in a hotel parking lot, but was uninjured in the hit-and-run incident.

CTV News reports that the actor, who is in Vancouver shooting “X-Men” spinoff “Deadpool,” was leaving the parking lot Friday evening when he was struck by an unidentified car, which then fled the scene. Local law enforcement officials believe the driver may have been a member of the paparazzi, and “have an idea” of the man’s identity.

Reynolds’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed details of the accident to local media.

“While walking, Ryan was struck by a paparazzi driving a car through an underground parking garage,” Slone told CTV. “The man fled the scene. Ryan is okay.”

Reynolds declined to speak to the media about the incident, and was back at work on “Deadpool” on Saturday, tweeting out photos from the set. He also joked on Twitter that he would only answer questions if a Canadian broadcast network resurrected one of his favorite series.

Local authorities are still investigating the incident. “Because Reynolds was not injured, police said they would have to speak to him to determine whether to proceed with any charges,” CTV reports.

  • Morena Baccarin Joins ‘Deadpool’ As Copycat

    Morena Baccarin
Press releases are so early ’00s, y’all. Making announcements on social media are where it’s at these days. The latest reveal is Morena Baccarin’s role as Vanessa in “Deadpool,” which can be gleaned from the pic she tweeted Thursday evening of her director’s chair with her name and her character’s name across the back.

The comic’s creator Rob Liefeld posted a similar photo with the comment, “From Morena Baccarin/Vanessa ‘Let’s do this!’ #Deadpool 1st appearance Vanessa is New Mutants #98.” As comic book fans have pointed out, this is a reference to the first time Vanessa Carlysle appeared in the series; Vanessa is a mutant with shape-shifting powers known as Copycat, as well as Deadpool’s love interest.

Ryan Reynolds posted a similar snap Thursday evening as well. T.J. Miller beat them both to the punch by tweeting a pic from the Vancouver set on Wednesday, along with the text “Weasel in the house.” Look like this chimichanga stand is open for business!

  • Ryan Reynolds Teases ‘Deadpool’ Release With Mask Prototype (PHOTO)

'Woman in Gold' Photocall - 65th Berlinale International Film Festival
The movie’s release is still a year away, but Ryan Reynolds is giving social media-savvy fans an early look at his “Deadpool” costume with a sneak peek at a prototype.

Reynolds posted a photo on Twitter of himself surrounded by plans and pieces of fabric, including what appear to be the gloves and mask that he’ll don as the titular superhero. But the actor didn’t give too much away, tinting the photo in a sepia tone and cheekily suggesting that maybe the mask will be pink instead of its signature red and black.

The actor also reminded fans that the film’s release date is closing in, and is now only a year away. And while Reynolds cautioned that “it’s early” in the process, that’s no doubt not going to stop fans from freaking out about this early look at the character’s garb.

So far, Reynolds is the only confirmed star, though actors including T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein, Morena Baccarin, and Taylor Schilling are all reportedly in the mix for roles. “Deadpool” is slated to open on February 12, 2016.

  • ‘Deadpool’ Casting Continues With T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein

Marvel’s movie about the weirdo anti-hero known as Deadpool has been doing the limbo for quite some time. Now that Ryan Reynolds is officially attached (finally!), things are coming together in a most promising way. They’ve even begun casting!

T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein are in “early talks” for unknown roles in “Deadpool,” although it’s thought that Skrein is in line for a bad guy role and Miller for something on the lighter side. That makes sense given Miller’s previous roles on HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” and in movies like “Big Hero 6,” “How to Train Your Dragon” and its sequel, as well as “She’s Out of My League.” Skrein is probably most well known for his role as Daario Naharis on “Game of Thrones,” a role he left to star in an upcoming “Transporter” movie – a move that frankly boggles the mind, because tons of “GoT” actors manage to juggle movies, plays, and other projects when winter isn’t coming, but hey, maybe he’s allergic to dragons.

“Deadpool,” which will be directed by Tim Miller, will hit theaters February 12, 2016.
