This is almost too meta for non-superpowered brains to comprehend. Hugh Jackman, aka Wolverine in Marvel’s “X-Men,” tweeted a video of Ryan Reynolds, in full burned “Deadpool” makeup, doing an impression of Hugh Jackman and pitching the Australian actor for People’s next Sexiest Man Alive.
How wonderfully random! Hugh Jackman is a great choice for Sexiest Man Alive, and tweeting a video of Ryan Reynolds pitching him is a more humble way to campaign than doing his own video. But Hugh should now dress as Wolverine and (somehow?) do a Ryan Reynolds impression to pitch the “Deadpool” star for the same honor. Ryan was already the 2010 cover boy, but Hugh had the title back in 2008, so either one could be a repeat.
Who would you rather see as the next Sexiest Man Alive — Hugh Jackman or Ryan Reynolds? Or would you pick someone else? Or would you rather People just stopped this nonsense altogether?
“I think Deadpool may have been drunk?” guesses one child in this priceless “How Deadpool Spent Halloween” video, posted by Ryan Reynolds. Another kid adds, wistfully, “I really wish we could sew his mouth shut again.” Well, they don’t call him the Merc with a Mouth for nothing!
Ryan dressed as Deadpool for Halloween, which is fitting since he stars in the upcoming “Deadpool” movie, which has been billed as a “hard R.” In keeping with the spirit of that non-kid-friendly superhero movie, here’s Ryan dropping f-bombs at children dressed as “X-Men” characters for Halloween, dissing their stupid superpowers, handing out knives, talkin’ bout sex, and suggesting they start a little f–king crime.
Ry-guy tweeted out the video with the teaser, “Deadpool’s school for not so gifted youngsters.” Here goes:
Classic! Even the video synopsis is genius: “A Deadpool documentary: the behind the scenes video of the making of a photo you may or may not have seen.”
The photo is the one shown above, which Ryan had tweeted out in Nov. 1:
Though it’s far from a done deal just yet — and the first flick still has months to go before its release — the folks at Fox are so high on upcoming film “Deadpool” that plans for a sequel are already in motion.
That’s the word from super producer Simon Kinberg, the man behind the massively popular “X-Men” franchise, who’s also producing “Deadpool.” In an interview with Collider, Kinberg chatted about the long-awaited big screen debut of a standalone movie about the Merc with a Mouth, and how it would set itself apart from its fellow superhero (and mutant) brethren with its dark tone (and yes, R rating).
But the key part of the conversation hinged on “Deadpool 2,” and while Kinberg noted that nothing was set in stone just yet, and conversations about a sequel were simply preliminary at this point, the producer seemed cautiously optimistic that it would indeed come to fruition.
“We certainly are talking about the sequel—we were talking about the sequel while we were making the movie just because when you make a film like this that’s from a serialized source material, you hope that it’s the first of many,” Kinberg told Collider. “But yeah [Fox is] feeling good about it, we’re all feeling really proud of it, so hopefully before it comes out we will be well into the process of figuring out a sequel.”
As for what that sequel entails, Kinberg said that it will most likely include comics character Cable, though he acknowledged that such talk was “genuinely premature,” and could change. Still, it’s good to know that producers have a plan for a potential “Deadpool” franchise, and their hard work and effort will hopefully show in “Deadpool” itself.
The Ryan Reynolds flick hits theaters on February 4, 2016.
That Merc with a Mouth has a sensitive side. “Deadpool” is going to be rated R (a hard R, they say) but star Ryan Reynolds went a little PG-13 on Twitter when sharing a photo in full costume. Here’s Wade Wilson/Deadpool, reading Judy Blume’s classic “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” alongside Brianna Hildebrand as Ellie Phimister, aka Negasonic Teenage Warhead, a mutant telepath who can see into the future:
As Ryan notes, Deadpool is just trying to connect with the young badass — and what better way to understand a girl than through Judy Blume? #truth
This movie is going to be ridiculous, in all the best ways. We’re counting the days until the release on February 12, 2016. Ryan wrapped filming back in May, but we can look forward to (hopefully) more “Deadpool” teases from him on Twitter, plus maybe more previews like that awesome red band trailer.
Adding a dash of Salt-N-Pepa’s “Shoop” to any trailer just gives it that something extra. We suspected as much watching the amazing “Deadpool” trailer and now here’s proof, courtesy of a fan who re-cut “Man of Steel” with more humorous footage that includes the necessary “Shoop.”
Some viewers weren’t too fond of the self-serious, somber tone of Henry Cavill‘s “Man of Steel” and a Youtuber called solyentbrak1 showed that the movie DID have potential to be at little bit more fun in a new trailer made “Deadpool Style,” taking a cue from Ryan Reynolds‘s upcoming R-rated movie.
Here’s the new 2 minute, 27 second trailer:
Are you effin’ stupid?!
Superman isn’t exactly the Merc with a Mouth, so maybe this doesn’t quite fit with the heroic character, but it’s still pretty impressive. Wouldn’t you want to see this movie? Here’s the “Deadpool” read-band trailer, in case you want to compare the two.
“Man of Steel” came out in 2013, and Henry Cavill returns to the role in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which is out March 25, 2016. “Deadpool” will be released February 12, 2016.
“With great power comes great irresponsibility” is an apt tagline for Ryan Reynolds as the star in Marvel’s anti-hero flick “Deadpool.”
The trailer for the actioner made its debut Tuesday and sees Hollywood’s second most-handsome goofball (Chris Pratt takes the top prize) in the titular role as ailing Special Forces operative Wade Wilson, who undergoes a life-saving medical experiment that leaves him with incredible new abilities and a new lease on life with accelerated healing powers.
Taking on a new identity as Deadpool — clad in a red suit and mask — he goes on a mission seeking revenge against his enemy.
But his new supernatural gifts has its drawbacks.
“Oh, god, you are hard to look at,” co-star T.J. Miller says to Reynolds, whose beautiful face is now disfigured following the procedure. “You look like the topographical map of Utah.”
Reynolds made his first appearance as Deadpool in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” but his character did not show off his tongue-in-cheek sensibilities as he does in his full-length feature in which he says things like, “I’m so turned on right now” after firing off bullets through henchmen.
“Deadpool,” co-starring Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand hits theaters February 2016.
If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.
By now, you may have seen the “Conan” Tuesday night. Ryan Reynolds was the night’s big guest and the whole show went TV-MA for the R-rated movie trailer. Conan said it was the first time ever in the history of the show for them to get that rating. The benefits of cable! “In other words, ladies and gentleman, tonight we can really f–king cut loose.” (That had to be bleeped, though.) Andy Richter also openly gave Conan the finger instead of secretly giving it under his desk, like he normally does.
Did you know that Deadpool saved Conan’s life? Watch that play out in the (hilarious) video below, which features panda tears and Conan’s bony lack of a rear-end. (“Where’s your ass?!” “It’s not my fault!” “Medic!”) Mr. Blake Lively had a lot to say during his “Conan” visit. He talked about being a father and how he was kind of a smartass to his own dad, taking a pic of his own penis with his dad’s camera. (!) Ryan said his father used to take hundreds of photos of dumb things and e-mail them (using dial-up) to everyone. So one time, when Ryan was about 18, he grabbed the camera and went into the bathroom and took a dick pic. He just wanted to see if his dad would see and edit the photo before it went out. But nope — it went out to everyone.
Speaking of TV-MA, Gordon Ramsay, Matilda Ramsay, Josh Charles, and Milky Chance were on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and James said the last time Gordon was a guest, it was the most bleeped show they’d ever had. It had 27 bleeps, 19 of which were from Gordon. So Gordon and Josh both swore even more, and James proudly showed off the Idiot Sandwich meme that went viral after Gordon’s chef sketch with Julie Chen.
Here’s a must-see: “The Office” alum Craig Robinson performed a song called “Chocolate Muffins” on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” as part of the promotion for his new show “Mr. Robinson.” “Damn, girl, it’s getting hot in here from all this pre-heating…”
Kate Mara was on “The Tonight Show” — she seemed a bit nervous — and told Jimmy Fallon she found out she was cast in “Fantastic Four” via Twitter. So sometimes Twitter can be helpful! There’s a clip from the movie in the video below. She also suggested anyone who hasn’t seen “House of Cards” yet should just leave and go watch it. True.
The legend that is Don Rickles was on “The Tonight Show” and heckled Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. He just had a few backhanded compliments and constructive criticism.
After making a very R-rated splash at Comic-Con this year, Ryan Reynolds debuted the new red band trailer for “Deadpool” on “Conan” Tuesday and it is everything fans could want.
Marvel’s “Merc With the Mouth” is full of his trademark quips in the new trailer, which centers on Wade Wilson (Reynolds) being turned into a deadly weapon and forced to go all hack and slash on the bad guys that created him when they come calling. Lots of punching, shooting and (especially) stabbing ensues.
The red-band is slightly different from the footage screened at Comic-Con in July; some of the racier dialogue has been omitted (bummer), but more action-y goodness has been added (yea!).
Morena Baccarin (“Firefly”) plays Wilson’s love interest, Vanessa, better known to comic book fans as Copycat. “Silicon Valley’s” T.J. Miller and Gina Carano (“Fast Six“) also star.
The green-band trailer for the film will screen ahead of “Fantastic Four” this weekend.
It’s no secret that the first “Deadpool” red-band trailer drops tomorrow, but that’s not stopping the Merc With a Mouth from making damn sure you know it’s coming. Watch and enjoy the foul-mouthed glee with which the message is delivered. If Tuesday’s trailer is anything like what we saw at Comic-Con, we’re all in for an expletive-laden treat.
Get ready for more Ryan Reynolds sword-punching the bad guys.
The “Deadpool” star is set to reveal the new red-band trailer for the movie Tuesday, August 4, on “Conan.” The trailer is expected to be online soon after its television debut.
The green-band version of the trailer will screen before prints of “Fantastic Four” on August 7.
Marvel’s “Merc With the Mouth” made fans brainsplode at Comic-Con earlier this month, as Reynolds and director Tim Miller revealed our first good look at Wade Wilson’s solo film — which was packed with laugh-out-loud quips and fist-pumping action beats.
This red-band trailer can’t get into our eyeballs fast enough.
“Deadpool” hits theaters February 12, 2016.
