  • 9 Reasons ’21 Jump Street’ Is One of Your Favorite Comedies Ever

Not all movie adaptations of TV shows are created equal. Some of them fall flat, but some become instant classics. Case in point: “21 Jump Street.”

We were all a little skeptical about how this show would transfer to the big screen, though it turned out that Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum more than exceeded our comedic expectations.

Here are 9 reasons why “21 Jump Street” still makes us laugh our asses off.

  • Johnny Depp Is the Most Overpaid Actor For Second Straight Year

US-CELEBRITY-CINEMA-PREMIERE-DISNEY-ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLJohnny Depp is having a very bad year. Not only did he go through a contentious divorce from wife Amber Heard (who alleged he had abused her physically and verbally), the actor saw his big-budget movie “Alice Through the Looking Glass” bomb. That’s why he tops Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s most overpaid actors for the second year in a row.

Depp’s last three movies returned just $2.80 for every $1 paid. In addition to “Alice,” the stinker “Mortdecai” dragged down his earnings. At least Depp can look forward to yet another “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie and being part of the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” franchise.

Forbes’ list is dominated by male actors who command eight-figure salaries, but see some of their movies go down like the Titanic at the box office. The only woman on the list is Julia Roberts in ninth place. But since women tend to be paid lower than men in almost all fields, it’s not surprising that more female stars aren’t on the list.

    Here’s the full list:

    • 1. Johnny Depp, returns $2.80 for each $1 paid
    • 2. Will Smith, returns $5 for each $1 paid
    • 3. Channing Tatum, returns $6 for each $1 paid
    • 4. Will Ferrell, returns $6.50 for each $1 paid
    • 5. George Clooney, returns $6.70 for each $1 paid
    • 6. Adam Sandler, returns $7.60 for each $1 paid
    • 7. Mark Wahlberg, returns $9.20 for each $1 paid
    • 8. Leonardo DiCaprio, returns $9.90 for each $1 paid
    • 9. Julia Roberts, returns $10.80 for each $1 paid
    • 10. Bradley Cooper, returns $12.10 for each $1 paid

  • Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan Celebrate ‘Step Up’ 10th Anniversary in the Best Way Possible

step up, channing tatum, jenna dewan, jenna dewan-tatum, 10th anniversaryIt’s hard to believe it’s been 10 whole years since Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan danced their way into Hollywood — and into our hearts — in “Step Up,” the flick that united a hip-hop dancer (Tatum) and a ballerina (Dewan). The actors fell in love both onscreen and off, and are now married with a baby. “Step Up” clearly still means a lot to them, and the couple celebrated the flick’s milestone anniversary this week in the most fitting way possible.

Proving they’ve still got plenty of moves, Tatum and Dewan-Tatum decided to recreate one of the famous lifts from the flick, a complicated maneuver that’s as impressive as it is sexy. It should surprise no one that the pair easily nailed the routine.

    We had to. #stepup10years

A video posted by Jenna Dewan Tatum (@jennaldewan) on

“We had to,” Dewan-Tatum captioned the video.

The actress also shared a sweet throwback snap of the couple on the film’s set back in 2006, reminiscing about how much time has passed since the flick first hit theaters.

“I cannot believe it’s the 10 year anniversary of the release today!!” Dewan-Tatum captioned the cute photo, a sentiment many fans no doubt share. “Ahhhh where does the time go?? Love you all and thanks for all the love all these years.”

We’re eagerly looking forward to the film’s next milestone anniversary for another epic recreation video.

  • Disney Eyes Channing Tatum for Gender-Reversed ‘Splash’ Remake

Premiere Of Universal Pictures' "Hail, Caesar!" - ArrivalsChanning Tatum may soon be making a “Splash.”

Deadline reports that Disney is moving forward on a remake of the 1984 romantic comedy that starred Daryl Hannah as a mermaid and Tom Hanks as a man who falls in love with her. But the remake’s twist would reverse the roles, and the studio is eyeing Tatum to step into Hannah’s shoes (fins?) and Jillian Bell to take over for Hanks. The two actors worked together in “22 Jump Street.”

Original producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are on board, and they’ve Marja Lewis-Ryan (“Liked”) to write the script.

“Splash” saw huge success at the box office, and received an Oscar nomination for its screenplay. It was one of Hanks’ first major film roles and ignited his journey to mega-stardom. The movie also made Hannah a household name.

Gender-reversed remakes are all the rage these days. “Ghostbusters” was a well-received hit, and an all-female version of “Ocean’s Eleven” is in the works.

  • 9 Times Channing Tatum Was So Hot That You Cried

Whether he’s dressed up in a tux, gyrating to Ginuwine, or being the funniest guy in the room, Channing Tatum is undeniably sexy.

Here are 9 times he was so hot that we pretty much couldn’t keep it together. Try not to drool, guys.

  • Channing Tatum’s ‘Gambit’ Delayed by Rewrites, Production Pushed Again

'Hail, Caesar!' Press Conference - 66th Berlinale International Film FestivalTrouble has been brewing around Channing Tatum’s “X-Men” spinoff “Gambit” for months, and now, the flick has reportedly suffered another setback. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is undergoing a new series of rewrites, which have pushed production back until later this year. That means that “Gambit”‘s planned October 2016 release date has now been canceled completely, and so far no replacement date has been scheduled.

THR reports that “Gambit” director Doug Liman will now direct an entirely different movie during the timeframe he was to shoot the mutant flick, which is now tentatively scheduled to begin production at the end of 2016. “Gambit” is currently in the midst of extensive rewrites, per THR’s report, with Tatum’s producing partner, Reid Carolin, handling scripting duties for this latest pass over the screenplay.

This is just the newest roadblock for “Gambit,” which has had a seemingly never-ending string of problems since studio Fox gave it the official greenlight last year. First, the flick spent months searching for a director (and was reportedly passed on by a bunch of big names, including Darren Aronofsky and Bennett Miller). Then, Rupert Wyatt (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”) signed on, only to drop out of the project a few months later amid reported conflict over creative decisions (and a significantly altered production scheduled). Liman swooped in two months later, but then the planned March 2016 start date — pushed back from November 2015 — was once again delayed.

So things don’t look great at this point for “Gambit,” and with Liman off filming another movie, that will give him even less time to prep for the spinoff’s shoot (though THR says the director “plans on knocking it out with a late spring/early summer shoot before returning to pre-production on ‘Gambit’”). THR also reports that the status of Lea Seydoux, who was to have played the female lead, is also unclear at this point; the potential recasting of a major role could be another obstacle that delays the proceedings. But on the flip side, Ryan Reynolds kept hope alive for seven years before his passion project, “Deadpool,” hit theaters; perhaps Tatum just needs to be patient, and “Gambit” will eventually come together.

Stay tuned. It seems this story is nowhere near close to finished.

  • Channing Tatum Recalls His Worst Audition Ever, for ‘Fast and Furious 3’

You know how “Back to the Future Part II” has an alternate 1985? In an alternate 2006, Channing Tatum had ‘s role in “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.” If only he hadn’t botched that audition! Then again, it’s hard to imagine Chan could be getting better roles than his eclectic mix right now, so maybe it’s all for the best.

Chan was on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday night to promote “Hail, Caesar!” and Jimmy asked about his worst-ever audition. The actor had his story ready:

Channing: “That was ‘Fast and the Furious 3, Tokyo Drift.’ I wanted to go to Tokyo very badly.”

Jimmy asked if it’s a good sign to be picking a film based on where you want to go on vacation, which is a fair point.

Chaning: “I stopped in the middle of the audition. I was like ‘I think we’re done, right? This is terrible.’”

    Jimmy: “Why?”

Channing: “I have no idea. I don’t even know if it was — I blocked it out, mainly, so I don’t remember the specifics. I think it was a combination of me being just bad, not remembering the lines, totally freaked out, I was probably sweating a lot.”

Jimmy: “You know, I have to say, this is a great lesson for kids, because people say, you know, ‘Keep fighting.’ No, just cut bait and give up!”

Channing: “Just get out of there.”

    Jimmy: “That’s what you do.”

Channing: “They didn’t even try to stop me. They were like ‘All right. That’s probably a good idea.”

Oof. That probably happens to actors more often than they like to admit. But things tend to happen for a reason. And based on what Channing has said about “G.I. Joe,” he probably wishes he had been rejected for that role.

  • Who Run the World? Watch Channing Tatum and Beyonce on ‘Lip Sync Battle’

Lip sync BattleWho run the world? Girls. But who run “Lip Sync Battle”? That, without a doubt, has to be Channing Tatum and Beyoncé.

This week’s “Lip Sync Battle” featured a duel between two Tatums — the actor and his wife, Jenna Dewan Tatum. She started the battle with a fierce, sexy, NSFW simulation of his dance to Ginuwine’s “Pony” in “Magic Mike XXL.”

But Channing upped the ante by dressing up as Beyoncé for an all-out performance to Beyonce’s “Who Run the World” — complete with wind effects. The guy has moves, as we’ve all seen, but he was really nailing it. Then, the house really came down when Queen Bey herself came out to join in the fun.

OK, maybe it’s stacking the deck in your favor to bring out Beyonce, but hey, all’s fair in love and “Lip Sync Battle.”
