  • ‘The Good Fight’ Renewed For Season 3 By CBS All-Access

“The Good Fight” will keep punching for another season. CBS All-Access has renewed the legal drama for Season 3.

The show, which is currently streaming its second season, stars Christine Baranski as Chicago lawyer Diane Lockhart, the character she originated on CBS’ “The Good Wife.” Cush Jumbo plays associate Lucca Quinn and Rose Leslie is the young lawyer Maia Rendell, whose father’s financial scandal propelled the first season. Audra McDonald, Sarah Steele, Justin Bartha, Michael Boatman, Nyambi Nyambi, and Delroy Lindo also star.

The drama has garnered buzz lately for its focus on President Donald Trump. Season 2’s episode titles, like “Day 408” and the most recent “Day 464,” reflect how many days he’s been in office. Storylines have dealt with potential impeachment and the alleged “pee tape.”

“The Good Fight is a perfect example of what we strive for a CBS All Access original series to be: thought-provoking, boundary-pushing and, most of all, incredibly entertaining,” said original content chief Julie McNamara in a statement. “We can’t wait to see what Robert and Michelle King, their creative team and the incomparable cast will bring to audiences in season three.”

  • ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Season 2 Teaser Provides a Peek at the Enterprise and Crew

What’s old is new again in a new behind-the-scenes teaser for “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 2.

The first season of the CBS All-Access show ended on a major cliffhanger: Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the Discovery crew running into the not-yet-legendary ship Enterprise and her captain, Christopher Pike.

Pike (who will be played by Ansom Mount), of course, is the predecessor of James T. Kirk, who led the ship on the original “Star Trek” series.

“Discovery” is doing its own take on the beloved Enterprise, and the video gives a glimpse at the construction of the bridge. There are also tantalizing images of the original gold, blue, and red uniforms, as well as what appears to be costume materials for new aliens.

But one thing missing from the video is any hint that Spock may be part of Season 2. If canon timing holds, he should be on board. And since Burnham’s adopted father is Spock’s father, Sarek, a meeting between the sort-of siblings should be interesting!

“Star Trek: Discovery” Season 2 does not yet have a release date.

  • Jordan Peele’s ‘Twilight Zone’ Revival Ordered by CBS All-Access

AFI FEST 2017 - Filmmakers' Photo CallJordan Peele is moving to “The Twilight Zone.”

CBS All-Access has officially ordered a revival of the classic sci-fi anthology series from the writer/director of “Get Out,” who will executive-produce along with “X-Men” writer Simon Kinberg and “The Defenders” creator Marco Ramirez.

“Too many times this year it’s felt we were living in a twilight zone, and I can’t think of a better moment to reintroduce it to modern audiences,” Peele said in a statement.

The original “Twilight Zone” was created by Rod Serling, and ran on CBS from 1959 to 1964. Reruns through the years increased its fanbase. Two revivals followed — the first on CBS from 1985 to 1989 and the second, short-lived one on UPN in 2002. There was also a 1983 feature film produced by Steven Spielberg, as well as various games, comic books, and novelizations.

This third revival comes at a time when anthology series are trendy again. In many ways, Netflix’s “Black Mirror,” which debuts its fourth season on December 29, is a descendent of “Twilight Zone.”

It’s unclear how many episodes the new “Twilight Zone” will have, nor when they will stream on CBS All-Access.

The plot of “Star Trek: Discovery,” the new series in the space franchise, has been kept under wraps. But showrunners Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg are finally opening up a bit about the initial storyline that viewers will see when the show debuts on CBS All-Access this fall.

The show centers around Sonequa Martin-Green’s First Officer Michael Burnham, who is the first human to attend the Vulcan Science Academy. She also has a notable mentor in Spock’s father, Sarek (James Frain).

Her life has “been completely planned until she makes a very difficult choice that sends her life on a very different path,” Harberts told Entertainment Weekly. “When we meet her, she’s the First Officer on the Starship Shenzhou [captained by Philippa Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh].

And Burnham’s choice that we’re alluding to is most difficult choice you can make — it affects her, affects Starfleet, affects the Federation, it affects the entire universe. That choice leads her to a different ship, the Discovery [helmed by Captain Lorca, played by Jason Isaacs] and there we begin what Gretchen and I call our ‘second pilot.’”

And since Burnham is the first lead character who isn’t a captain, she’ll provide fans with access to different parts of the ship.

“The advantage to her not being in charge of the bridge right now is we get to tell stories from a very different point of view,” Berg explained. “It’s a fresh feeling because we’re not on the bridge all the time.”

“Star Trek: Discovery” premieres September 24 on CBS with two episodes. Those and all remaining episodes will stream weekly on CBS All-Access.

Each episode will be release once a week, just like “The Good Fight,” rather than the all-at-once Netflix or Amazon model. The first eight episodes will stream this fall, while the second half of the season returns in January.

“Star Trek: Discovery” was initially expected to debut this past January as the first original CBS All-Access series, but it was delayed after the exit of co-creator Bryan Fuller.

The show is set a decade before the original 1966 “Star Trek” series, and features Sonequa Martin-Green as a First Officer on a starship. Michelle Yeoh and Jason Isaacs play starship captains
