Christmas has come early for Arrowverse fans, who have been treated to yet another sneak peek of actress Ruby Rose in costume as Batwoman.

Entertainment Weekly debuted the new image of Rose, taken straight from a scene in the “Flash”-“Arrow”-“Supergirl” three-episode crossover event, “Elseworlds.” And as you can see from her dead-serious expression, Batwoman isn’t messing around.

According to EW, when she’s first introduced, “Batwoman uses her grapple hook and Batarang to stop two inmates from escaping Arkham Asylum, and saves Green Arrow and Cisco in the process.” But while the masked heroine is all business, her alter ego, Kate Kane, is anything but.

“She is more fun because she’s a billionaire, she has ladies that love her. I think, for the most part crossover-wise, she’s swaggy,” Rose explained to EW. “She always knew who she was, but she’s really coming into knowing who she is in the crossover, and with Batwoman as well. It’s not the first time she’s put on the suit.”

That aspect of knowing herself is something with which Rose, an out member of the LGBTQ community, is familiar. The actress has said in the past that the role was deeply significant to her, and told EW that playing Kate/Batwoman has given her a chance to connect with viewers on a more personal level.

“The fact that she is an outwardly gay superhero, which is something growing up I would’ve loved to have seen on my TV, was a big deciding factor as to why I was so passionate about the role,” she says. “This [role] just meant a lot more to me because I could relate in so many ways and, at the same time, felt like this was a job that would give me a purpose every day coming into work beyond just getting to live my dream, which is acting, and would be far more rewarding than anything I’ve done in the past.”

The “Elseworlds” crossover begins on December 9 with “The Flash,” continues on December 10 with “Arrow,” and wraps on December 11 with “Supergirl.” All episodes air on The CW at 8 p.m. EST.

OK, but now “Arrow” fans are pushing to see Stephen Amell in a “Supergirl” suit.

That kind of “Freaky Friday” wish was just one reaction to The CW’s intriguing new “Elseworlds” poster teasing this year’s crossover event — where “Destiny Will Be Rewritten.”

You know the Arrowverse shows (or at least a few of them) have themed crossovers every year. This year, “The Flash,” “Arrow,” and “Supergirl” are holding a three-day event from December 9-11.

The “Elseworlds” special will feature a trip to Gotham City to team up with newcomer Batwoman (Ruby Rose). Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Bitsie Tulloch) will also be there, along with Cassandra Jean Amell as Nora Fries, wife of Batman villain Mr. Freeze.

Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin normally play Oliver Queen/Arrow and Barry Allen/The Flash, but they showed their swapped roles when sharing the crossover poster on social media:

Fans had a lot of reactions to the Flash/Arrow switch — confusion, excitement, pride that they guessed right, and some clever call-backs to past references:

The Arrowverse isn’t just going elsewhere, it’s going “Elseworlds.”

The CW released a new poster for its annual DC crossover event, which will tie together “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Supergirl” over three nights this December. The poster revealed the event’s title: “Elseworlds.”

That’s a nod to a special imprint of titles that took place outside the regular DC universe (like one in which Batman hunted Jack the Ripper in Victorian-era England).

The poster also teased the Bat logo, since the event will take the heroes to Gotham, where they’re introduced to Batwoman (Ruby Rose).Cassandra Jean Amell has also been cast as Nora Fries, the wife of famous Bat-villain Mr. Freeze.

Tyler Hoechlin is also reprising his role as Superman, and fans will get to meet Lois Lane (Bitsie Tulloch). And LaMonica Garrett (“Designated Survivor”) will play Mar Novu aka The Monitor, “an extraterrestrial being of infinite power.” In the comics, Monitors intervened in crises in the Multiverse.

The Arrowverse crossover event will air Sunday, Dec. 9 through Tuesday, Dec. 11,

  • ‘Shadowhunters’ Star Katherine McNamara Joins ‘Arrow’ in ‘Pivotal’ Recurring Role

‘Shadowhunters’ Star Katherine McNamara Joins ‘Arrow’ in ‘Pivotal’ Recurring Role

    Shadowhunters
    Freeform

Shadowhunters” just tied for the most People’s Choice Awards nominations after being canceled by Freeform. And #SaveShadowhunters is still an active hashtag trying to find the show a new home.

Clearly the fandom is still strong.

But it looks like star Katherine McNamara (Clary) has moved on with a new job — on The CW’s “Arrow.”

According to TVLine, McNamara will join “Arrow” during the first half of Season 7 in the “pivotal” recurring role of Maya. Maya is described as “a scrappy street fighter and thief from Star City.” She was also compared to “Buffy the Superhero Slayer.” It’s not clear if she’d be part of the 2018 Arrowverse crossover coming in December, but it’s certainly possible.

So that’s Katherine McNamara’s first post-“Shadowhunters” gig — although “Shadowhunters” hasn’t finished airing its final episodes. Freeform is holding onto the final 12 episodes for Spring 2019, including “an epic two-episode special finale.”

If this “Arrow” role only lasts for a season, or ends up becoming a smaller role, it’s possible she could still return to “Shadowhunters” if it finds life somewhere else. After all, if a fandom is passionate enough to push their show to five PCA nominations — tied with “Grey’s Anatomy” — and four of those were write-in votes, shouldn’t someone want to be that fandom’s savior?

The CW’s annual Arrowverse crossover event just got faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive!

“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse. This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and amazing addition to our universe of DC characters,” said “Supergirl” executive producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner.

Hoechlin will appear on all three nights of the DC Comics crossover, which kicks off with a special screening of “The Flash” on Sunday, Dec. 9, continues with “Arrow” on Dec. 10, and concludes with “Supergirl” on Dec. 11.

This year’s crossover also introduces Kate Kane aka Batwoman, a lesbian superhero played by Ruby Rose.

    • “The Flash”

    • “Arrow”
The “Arrow” panel confirmed that the Longbow Hunters will be introduced in Season 7. According to EW, the Longbow Hunters are a legendary group of assassins Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) recruits to get back at Team Arrow. The three assassins are Red Dart (Holly Elissa), “a ruthless and precise killer”; Kodiak (Michael Jonsson) “a beast of a man with brute force”; and Silencer (Miranda Edwards), a master of stealth. Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), Derek Sampson (Cody Runnels), and Danny “Brick” Brickwell (Vinnie Jones) all returning this season as well. “Arrow” returns Monday, Oct. 15.

  • Fans React to Batwoman & Gotham City Joining Arrowverse in 2018 Crossover

The CW held its upfront presentation today, and teased the annual Arrowverse crossover event.

“Arrow” star Stephen Amell shared the big news himself:

“We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’ll be doing another crossover event this fall on the CW, and we’ll be introducing a new character. For the very first time appearing, we’ll be fighting alongside Batwoman, which is terrific. The crossover is going to make it to air in December. I need to leave right now and start filming it.”

The CW boss Mark Pedowitz confirmed that they’re “adding the city of Gotham into the Arrowverse,” describing the crossover as “another full-throttled, action-packed event.”

The DC Comics character of Batwoman, aka Kate Kane, was reimagined in New 52. Kate happens to be a Jewish lesbian, which has a lot of fans excited (or wary) for more on-screen representation.

This will be the first time we’re seeing Gotham in the Arrowverse, after its existence was teased a few times — including when Oliver Queen name-droped Bruce Wayne. This will also be the first time any screen has shown Batwoman, Pedowitz noted.

Fans have strong hopes and fears for The CW’s take on Batwoman:

The crossover will air in December, and we’ll be hearing a lot more about it — including casting — in the months to come.

Meanwhile, The CW just revealed its fall 2018-2019 schedule, moving “Supergirl” to Sundays and “Arrow” to Mondays.

  • ‘Arrow’ Just Lost Another Original Character Before Season 7

It’s the end of an era.

“Arrow” just lost another original character, after Willa Holland’s departure as Oliver’s younger sister Thea earlier in Season 6.

Actor Paul Blackthorne (Quentin Lance) won’t be returning for “Arrow” Season 7. It’s not clear how the current mayor will be written out, but there are only a few episodes left in Season 6 to find out.

“Arrow” airs Thursdays on The CW, and the remaining episodes this season include Episode 21 on May 3, Episode 22 on May 10, and the Season 6 finale, Episode 23, called “Life Sentence,” airing May 17.

Quentin Lance has been an original character on “Arrow” since the pilot. So now, THR reports, star Stephen Amell (Oliver/Arrow) and David Ramsey (Diggle/Spartan) are the only original series regulars still remaining from the pilot.

Even though some fans feel like things are coming to an end — with two original characters leaving this season — The CW already renewed “Arrow” for Season 7. There will be changes behind-the-scenes as well, with co-showrunners Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle stepping down, and Beth Schwartz promoted as showrunner.

At least Colton Haynes is making his big return as a series regular in Season 7. That’s good news, right?

“Arrow” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
