  • Jeff Goldblum Dropped More Cryptic ‘Jurassic World’ Comments on ‘Watch What Happens Live’

Jack Johnson says maybe “pretty much always means no,” but with Jeff Goldblum, we hope it means yes.

The Jurassic Park franchise star is reprising his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in the upcoming “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” and he was all kinds of cryptic.

A fan had called in to ask the actor about his comments regarding Laura Dern returning to the franchise, and Goldblum wholeheartedly embraced the word “maybe.”

“Maybe I said too much,” he said. I don’t know for sure. … I can’t divulge anything. But maybe, maybe, maybe she will.”

That’s four maybes total, and we very much hope they add up to a yes. Goldblum kept our hopes up by highlighting that there are already plans for “Jurassic World 3.”

“Some people may or may not be in it,” he said. “That’s all I can say.”

Very interesting. For now, we’ll look forward to seeing the actor in “Fallen Kingdom.” As we’ve seen in trailers and as Goldblum mentioned, Ian will testify in front of the Senate about dinosaurs.

Watch the actor’s many “maybes” below.

“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” opens June 22.

  • ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Clip: Watch a Riff-off Get Aca-Awkward

With “Pitch Perfect 3” comes more of the Bellas and their hilarious musical misadventures.

Universal Pictures released a new clip Sunday, giving fans some delightful aca-awkwardness to kick off the week. The footage shows the Bellas embarking on a USO tour and meeting their fellow musicians. Not surprisingly, the group ends up getting into one of their usual impromptu riff-offs. However, things take a weird turn when Patricia, aka “Fat Amy” (Rebel Wilson), gets too into it. The mishap makes for an entertaining first impression, and better still, it leads into more snippets from the film, including nights out, an explosion, and other mayhem.

In addition to Wilson, we get to see several of her fellow returning co-stars, including Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Hailee Steinfeld, among others. Their characters will have to adjust to life post-college in the series’ final film, and it looks like a swan song to be both excited and sad about.

    Watch the clip below.

“Pitch Perfect 3” hits theaters Dec. 22.

  • Nintendo Planning Another Super Mario Brothers Movie

The Super Mario Brothers could be smashing bricks on the big screen soon.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Nintendo is in talks with Universal and Illumination Entertainment (the shop behind the “Despicable Me” franchise) for an animated movie version of their popular video game series.

Mario and Luigi have appeared on the big screen before, in a 1994 live-action film starring Bob Hoskins. It was a critical and commercial dud, however.

Last year, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima indicated they wanted to try their hand at a movie, and the 2014 Sony email hack revealed that the two companies had been talking. Universal seems a more appropriate partner now, since it is creating a Super Nintendo World theme park in Japan.

With the failure of the live-action movie, it makes sense that Nintendo would choose the animated route. The company has been trying to expand their brand onto the big and small screens, with rumors of a “Legends of Zelda” TV series being developed at Netflix (and which never came to fruition).

  • ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ Trailer Teases Jealousy, Danger, and (Of Course) More Play Time

Expect happily ever after to take a dark turn in “Fifty Shades Freed.”

Paramount Pictures has released the official trailer for the final Fifty Shades film on Monday, telling fans, “Don’t miss the climax.” There is more to the story of Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), and as usual, it involves as much relationship drama as it does play time in the Red Room of Pain. The preview shows that even though the two have said “I do,” they have more than just champagne and roses ahead.

Back to stir up trouble in the trilogy’s conclusion is Christian’s former lover Elena (Kim Basinger), sparking Ana’s jealousy. Meanwhile, Jack (Eric Johnson), Ana’s former boss, also returns to threaten their happiness. This is serious business — the trailer involves a car chase and guns.

    Watch below.

“Fifty Shades Freed” opens in theaters Feb. 9, kicking off Valentine’s Day early.

  • ‘Girls Trip’ Has Best R-Rated Comedy Opening in 2 Years

Moviegoers wanted to get rowdy this weekend — just look the success of “Girls Trip.”

The funny flick exceeded box office expectations this weekend and ultimately had the best opening for an R-rated comedy since 2015. With Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall, and Tiffany Haddish as stars, “Girls Trip” bowed to more than $30.4 million, according to THR. It topped Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck ($30.1 million) and came close to Mark Wahlberg’s “Ted 2” ($33.5 million), both of which opened in 2015.

Notably, “Girls Trip” is another example for studios that yes, people will go see female-driven films as well as movies with diverse casts, especially if they are done well. The movie, which centers on long-time friends who head to New Orleans for a crazy weekend, has been getting solid reviews from critics and audiences alike. “Girls Trip” currently has an 88 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes’ “Tomatometer” and a 90 percent audience score.

We’ll see what kind of momentum the film has, but for now, the movie’s opening has already made a strong showing, surpassing its production budget of $19 million. Universal Pictures certainly can’t complain about that.

If you’re ready for raunchy, R-rated fun, “Girls Trip” is in theaters now.

  • Watch Michael Fassbender Track a Chilling Killer in ‘The Snowman’ Trailer

Cold-blooded killer is all too literal of a description in the latest trailer for “The Snowman.”

Universal Studios released the new preview on Wednesday, and it is seriously creepy. The footage shows stars Michael Fassbender and Rebecca Ferguson trying to track down a clever and conniving murderer who is sending cryptic messages to the police as he attacks and kills a series of women.

“He’s been watching us the whole time,” Fassbender’s character says in the trailer. “If we don’t find him, he’s never going to stop.”

There are plenty of scenes that will send chills up your spine, from the police learning that a victim was beheaded to a scene in which Ferguson’s character comes upon a bloody body in a garage. We don’t recommend watching this if you’re home alone or right before bed, that’s for sure.

“The Snowman” is set to hit theaters on Oct. 20, just in time for Halloween’s rash of horror movies.

  • ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel: Colin Trevorrow Shares New ‘Easter Eggs’

While many people were out searching for eggs on Easter, “Jurassic World” co-writer and director Colin Trevorrow had a very different kind on hand.

Trevorrow tweeted out a photo on Sunday of an incubator full of some of the upcoming sequel’s dinosaur eggs. Unfortunately, he didn’t offer any information to go with the image, and the plot of “Jurassic World 2” remains largely under wraps. All we can glean from the picture is that there could be at least seven more dinosaurs on the way, based on the number of eggs shown.

The latest movie in the dinosaur-centric franchise is currently filming, but Trevorrow opted not to return to direct. He did write the script, though, and the movie brings back stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and B. D. Wong, as well as introduces several new characters.

“Jurassic World 2” is expected to hit theaters in 2018.

  • Kevin Hart to Head Back to Class in New Comedy ‘Night School’

The 22nd Annual Critics' Choice Awards - ArrivalsIt seems like Kevin Hart always has another comedy coming out, and that’s certainly true right now.

The busy actor has lined up yet another new project; he’ll star in Universal Pictures’ action-comedy “Night School,” Variety reports. His part hasn’t been revealed yet, but whatever the role, it’s one he’s familiar with. Hart co-wrote the screenplay with Harry Ratchford, Joey Wells, and Matt Kellard. Nick Stoller did some additional work on it as well.

The story centers on a group of adults taking night classes so they can earn their GEDs. They’re described as a group of “misfits,” making the plot a bit reminiscent of the sitcom “Community.” Maybe “Night School” will inspire calls for six seasons after the movie.

The movie joins Hart’s rapidly growing filmography. He starred in four comedies last year alone and has both “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” and “Jumanji” set for 2017, plus 2018’s “Untouchable.” We don’t know when “Night School” will be released yet, but there will be no Hart shortage in the meantime.

  • ‘The Fate of the Furious’ Had to Take New Direction to Continue, Says Vin Diesel

With seven movies to its name already, the Fast & Furious franchise had to find a way to stay fresh with “The Fate of the Furious.”

If you’ve seen any of the trailers so far, you already know the big, not-so-secret bombshell: Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) goes rogue. It’s a development fans couldn’t have expected, but one the team felt was necessary. In fact, in a new featurette on the film, star and producer Diesel calls it “the only way we were really going to be able to continue this story.”

The idea was to take what fans had seen before and do something completely different. As such, Dom goes from loyal family man to betrayer, with the help of the “fiercest villain” yet, Cipher (Charlize Theron). It’s an concept we’re still trying to wrap our mind’s around, comforted only by reassurances from Diesel that the film will “blow people’s minds.”

Watch the featurette below for more insight.

“The Fate of the Furious” opens on April 14.
