  • ‘Fuller House’ Renewed for Season 3 With More Episodes

fuller house, season 3, renewed, renewal, more episodes, longer season“Fuller House” is getting even bigger: The Netflix original series has officially been renewed for a third season, and has also received an expanded episode order.

News of the renewal broke just in time for last month’s Christmas holiday, with the “Full House” sequel series announcing the news on its social media accounts. Season two of the show premiered on Netflix on December 9.

Jeff Franklin — the creator of both “Full House” and “Fuller House,” who recently purchased the iconic San Francisco house used for exterior shots of the Tanner/Fuller home on the two series — followed up that announcement with one of his own, revealing on New Year’s Day that instead of the traditional 13 episodes that made up seasons one and two of “Fuller House,” season three would be getting 18 installments. Franklin made things official with a post on Instagram.

Happy New Year! Looking forward to season 3 — 18 episodes — Back to work on Monday!

According to Variety, viewership has actually been down since season two launched, with Symphony Advanced Media (an unofficial chronicler of Netflix viewing data) reporting that the audience for the season two premiere was 67 percent smaller than that of the season one premiere (a 3.32 rating in the coveted 18-49 demo, versus the debut season’s 10.16 rating). Despite those grim numbers (which Netflix has said in the past are inaccurate), the streaming service apparently wants to see more from the Tanner and Fuller clans, and this upped episode order confirms the company’s faith in the series.

No word yet on when season three of “Fuller House” may premiere. According to Fuller, production on the new episodes starts this week.

  • The ‘Fuller House’ New Year’s Countdown Will Let You Celebrate Early with Netflix

There’s no reason to wait till the clock is a handful of ticks away from striking midnight on Dec. 31 to count down to the New Year.

Netflix is again bringing subscribers a selection of special countdowns, and this year, “Fuller House” fans will get one, too. The specials are primarily geared toward children, but they’ll also be entertaining for adults. The beauty is that they’ll be available on demand, so if you can’t stay awake till midnight (no shame) or you won’t be near your TV, you won’t have to miss out.

The countdowns will arrive on Netflix on Dec. 28, so you don’t even have to wait till New Year’s Eve to bust out your party hat, 2017 glasses, and champagne or sparkling cider. This could be the new Netflix and chill. Netflix and New Year, anyone?

  • The ‘Fuller House’ New Kids on the Block Cameo Was ‘A Dream Come True’ for the Cast

There few things more late ’80s/early ’90s than “Full House” and New Kids on the Block, so seeing the two come together in “Fuller House” Season 2 was almost too good to be true — and not just for the sitcom’s fans.

Netflix released a new behind-the-scenes video Tuesday that reveals just how excited the show’s cast was to have the iconic boy band appear in an episode. Everyone looks pumped about it, but the excitement was clearly at peak levels for Andrea Barber (Kimmy) and Candace Cameron Bure (D.J.). It turns out they had been wanting NKOTB on the show for 30 years.

“That was, for Andrea and Candace, something they had always wanted,” says Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) in the video. “It was a dream come true.”

Both Barber and Bure further explain their fandom, revealing that they’ve been going to NKOTB concerts since their “Full House” days. Not surprisingly, they’ve managed to accumulate a ton of the band’s merchandise over the years.

“They outfitted almost the entire concert arena with my shirts,” says Barber. “It’s not crazy, it’s cool.”

Their enthusiasm is obvious in the episode clips shown in the video. In fact, it doesn’t look like it took any acting at all to sing their hearts out to the band’s music.“Fuller House” Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.

  • Watch ‘Fuller House’ Season 2 Break Fourth Wall to Address Olsen Twins

Nope, you don’t got it, dude, and you’re not getting it anytime soon.

Whatever Michelle Tanner’s deal, Netflix’s “Full House” revival acknowledged the absence of the Olsen twins’s character for a second year in a row by once again breaking the fourth wall. This time, though, a direct appeal was made into the camera, during the “Fuller House” Season 2, Episode 6 Thanksgiving dinner.

First, D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure) told the rest of the family, “We miss Michelle. We hope she’ll be with us next year.” Then Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) looked into the camera, addressing the Olsen twins who probably will never watch this, and said, “Come, it’ll be fun!”

Series creator Jeff Franklin told TVLine that Jesse’s line was their way of communicating with the Olsen twins. “We just talk to them through the show. What [Jesse] said was how we all feel. We’d still love to see them come back. Who knows if that’ll ever happen, but we’re all still hopeful.”

They wouldn’t need both twins at this point, just one. Or they could recast the role. Or just make it an annual thing to call out how Michelle Tanner always blows off the family. ‘Cause maybe she just can’t stand them and wants to be left alone? Has anyone considered this? They can be a bit much. Or maybe she’s waiting for her own darker, edgier Netflix spinoff closer to “Jessica Jones” than “Fuller House.”

  • ‘Fuller House’ Season 2: Prepare for More Blasts From the Past, New Drama

“Fuller House” has been more than just a walk down memory lane — it has been a full-on marathon with no end in sight.

The nostalgic journey will continue in the “Full House” sequel series’ sophomore season. Jeff Franklin, the creator of both sitcoms, recently opened up to Variety about what we have to look forward to in the upcoming batch of episodes. Not surprisingly, there’s a lot to like, including the return of more familiar faces and a visit from an iconic ’80s boy band.

*If you don’t want any spoilers, you should stop reading now.*

While the Olsen twins opted out of Season 2, just like they did the first season, there will be plenty of other fun guest stars to keep us entertained in their stead. For example, New Kids on the Block, Candace Cameron Bure and Andrea Barber‘s favorite band from their teen years, will appear in an episode. Franklin fittingly described the band as “the Beach Boys of ‘Fuller House.’”

On top of that, old friends and classmates will return. “We will see some fun faces from the past,” Franklin said. “Gia will make an appearance — Stephanie’s trouble-making friend from her childhood, she’s coming back.”

There’s also going to be an entire high school reunion episode. Franklin revealed that we will see teen mom Kathy Santoni return, as well as two more of D.J.’s old flames: guitarist Viper and rich-kid Nelson. It should be quite the gathering.

Meanwhile, the ladies of the Fuller house, D.J. (Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Kimmy (Barber), will have new drama to deal with. D.J. will have to face the fact that both of her love interests have given up on waiting for her, sparks will fly between Stephanie and a Gibbler, and Kimmy will see how things go with her ex. The house will be as chaotic as ever when Season 2 hits Netflix on Dec. 9.

  • The ‘Full House’ Creator Bought the Tanners’ San Francisco House, May Use It for ‘Fuller House’

In what’s probably the most perfect pairing of a house and buyer in recent memory, it was just revealed that “Full House” creator Jeff Franklin has purchased the iconic San Francisco home that stood in for the exterior of the Tanners’ house on the sitcom.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Franklin revealed that he snapped up the listing for about $4 million in a deal that closed this fall. The 1883 Victorian, located in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood, had recently gone on the market as a rental.

Franklin visited San Francisco earlier this year, according to his Twitter feed, and apparently fell in love with the property all over again.

“The house came on the market and really, I just thought, I have to buy this house,” Franklin told THR. “I’m so sentimental about the house. It’s great to have the house in our Full House family and be able to preserve it for the fans. … Seriously, I love owning this house.”

The producer, who also oversees Netflix’s “Full House” sequel series “Fuller House,” also revealed that he plans on transforming the inside of the home — which looks nothing like the Tanner/Fuller residence in real life — to more closely resemble what fans see on television, and perhaps one day even filming “Fuller House” scenes there. He’s already repainted the exterior — which had undergone several color makeovers since the ’90s heyday of “Full House” — and most importantly, replaced its most recent seafoam green door with the show’s familiar red door.

Franklin is waiting on Netflix to hear if “Fuller House” has been renewed, but regardless of whether or not he’ll get to involve the cast in his new purchase (he’s got big plans for “Full House”‘s 30th anniversary in 2017), he’s happy to have it for fans’ sake.

“There are probably 250 fans per day that show up and take a picture in front of it,” Franklin told the trade. “It will be a lot more fun for the fans because now the house will look like the Tanners really live there. It’s a gift to the fans but it’s also fun for me to own it.”

  • ‘Fuller House’ Season 2: Jodie Sweetin Talks Stephanie’s Love Life and Music

Teen Choice Awards 2016 - ArrivalsWe don’t have to wait for “Fuller House” Season 2 to hit Netflix to learn all of its secrets — Jodie Sweetin recently spilled some key information. How not rude.

The actress will be back as Stephanie Tanner (aka the other D.J. Tanner) in the second season of the “Full House” sequel series, and it sounds like there’s a lot in store for the free-spirited sister. In fact, Sweetin promised “some really crazy storylines” during an interview with Parade.

First, Stephanie will be getting a little more love in her life. This won’t come as a shock if you’ve seen the Season 2 trailer — it showed her cozying up with a surprising, yet hilariously fitting new man.

“She gets a love interest,” Sweetin told Parade. “I think the fans are really going to love who it winds up being.”

Based on the trailer, her bet seems like a safe one. The guy in question is — wait for it — a Gibbler. Yes, as in related to Kimmy (Andrea Barber), the longtime target of Stephanie’s snarky comments and now housemate. And he’s no distant cousin, either. Stephanie’s love interest, Jimmy (Adam Hagenbuch), is Kimmy’s similarly quirky brother.

On top of the developments in her love life in the upcoming season, Stephanie will have her music career to keep her busy, too. Sweetin teased that her character will do “a lot of fun stuff with that.” She revealed that she has been exercising her creativity, and she even worked on a song with Juan Pablo Di Pace, who plays Fernando.

Clearly, there’s a lot to look forward to when the “Fuller House” shenanigans continue. Season 2 hits Netflix on Dec. 9.

On Monday, the official “Fuller House” social media accounts debuted five new images from the upcoming season, featuring the cast celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. And it looks like the sophomore outing will be just as wacky — and sentimental — as the first season.
