  • Tina Fey Laments Her Daughters’ Hilarious Reactions to Her Work on ‘Late Night’

Tina Fey‘s toughest critics might just be her daughters.

The comedian chatted with “Late Night” the evening after Meyers’s second son was born (in his apartment’s lobby, no less), and she did her best to prepare him for some of the trials of parenthood he hasn’t yet faced. Specifically, she detailed what it’s like sharing your work with them as they get older. For Fey, this has led to some undesirable but hilarious outcomes.

The actress and her husband, composer Jeff Richmond, have two daughters, Alice and Penelope, who are 12 and 6, respectively. With Alice proving to be a comedy lover, Fey hoped that she could get her eldest into the NBC sitcom she created and starred in, “30 Rock.” Unfortunately, when Alice gave it a go, she came back with the criticism that it is “too weird.” To add insult to injury, she loved “Parks and Recreation,” which stars Fey’s close friend Amy Poehler.

Fey hasn’t tried to push “30 Rock” on Penelope yet, but her youngest did get to sit in on rehearsals while the “Mean Girls” musical was being made. Unfortunately, she didn’t quite understand the spirit of the story. Instead of learning how to not be like the Plastics, Fey says, Penelope started playing “Mean Girls” at school and wanting to yell at people as Regina.

Watch Fey recount the entertaining stories below.

“Late Night with Seth Meyers” airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

  • Seth Meyers Reveals Wife Gave Birth in a Lobby on ‘Late Night’

Late Night with Seth Meyers - Season 5Seth Meyers and his wife, Alexi Ashe, welcomed their second child in dramatic fashion, as the host revealed on “Late Night.” Ashe gave birth Sunday to a baby boy, Axel Strahl— in the lobby of the couple’s apartment building!

As Meyers recounted on his show last night, little Axel (who joins big brother Ashe Olson) was rarin’ to greet the world and couldn’t wait until mom and dad got to the hospital.

“I called 911 and over the course of a minute conversation, I said, ‘We’re about to have a baby — we’re having a baby — we had a baby,’ ” Meyers said.

The New York City police arrived just after the baby did and cut the cord. Meyers thanked them and his neighbors, who had warmed up towels in a dryer to keep Axel warm.

Meyers got tears in his eyes talking about his wife, then joked, “I’m getting choked up thinking about how brave I was.”

The host also shared a photo of his wife and new baby on the ground, with an EMT holding an oxygen mask over Ashe.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Vet Rose Leslie Relives Kit Harington’s ‘Horrid’ Prank

Rose Leslie found love with her former “Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington, but she also found sheer terror.

When the “Good Fight” star was a guest on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” recently, she had to relive a “big, scary” April Fools prank that her fiancé pulled last year. Even now, it doesn’t sound like she has gotten over it. When Meyers brought up the story, she described it as “horrible” and “horrid” multiple times each, not to mention referred to Harington as a “bastard.” We don’t blame her for being traumatized. The actor had put a faux severed head with his face in their refrigerator for her to find.

Leslie recapped the experience to Meyers and indicated that she was totally unsuspecting as she opened the fridge to “this terrifying head.” Worse, it wasn’t clear to her right away that it was him, so she couldn’t immediately tell that it was fake.

“I don’t necessarily recognize that it’s him,” she told Meyers of what was going through her mind, “but I just know that somebody is bloodied … in my fridge.”

Watch Leslie discuss the prank, starting at 4:05 below.

Harington, for his part, doesn’t seem overly repentant. When he appeared on “The Jonathan Ross Show” in October, he laughed as he watched the footage of poor Leslie discovering the head and then erupting into screams and tears. Watch the prank video below.

Seriously, poor Leslie. That said, kudos to Harington for his diabolical creativity.

“Late Night with Seth Meyers” airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. ET/PT on NBC.

  • Kelly Clarkson on Her Viral Encounter With Meryl Streep: ‘She Totally Thinks I’m a Freak’

Kelly Clarkson‘s love for Meryl Streep is the gift that keeps on giving — although, the legendary actress may not agree.

While visiting “Late Night With Seth Meyers” on Tuesday, Clarkson and Meyers discussed her adorable reaction to meeting her idol at the 2018 Golden Globes. It was a memorable one — so much so that it went viral. Cameras were rolling as it happened, and to say that the “Voice” judge was excited would be an understatement. Clarkson became the definition of a fangirl, much to the delight of viewers and hordes of people across the internet.

Looking back almost two months after the fact, Clarkson gamely told Meyers that Streep was “probably scared.”

“It’s so embarrassing to watch yourself be an idiot,” she said.

Luckily, that didn’t stop the Grammy-winning singer from hilariously reenacting how she approached Streep, and then the actress’s subsequent reaction. As Clarkson tells it, Streep tried to redirect her enthusiasm toward the group of people she was standing with.

“She totally thinks I’m a freak,” Clarkson added.

Watch the conversation below, starting at 2:43.

“Late Night With Seth Meyers” airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. ET/PT on NBC.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Star Joe Keery Shares His ’80s Jeans Woes: ‘It’s Like You’re Wearing a Baseball Glove’

We all have workplace challenges, but Joe Keery‘s are a little unique.

The “Stranger Things” star visited “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” where he had some stories to share about what it’s like playing bat-wielding babysitter extraordinaire Steve Harrington. One of the struggles, it turns out, is the tight ’80s jeans. Keery admitted he was not prepared for those.

“They don’t tell you that when they cast you,” the actor told Meyers, “about the jeans and how tight they will make them.”

Since Meyers has spent some time in ’80s jeans himself, he commiserated, drawing a comparison between them and corsets in the Jane Austen era. Keery didn’t take it quite that far, but he did say his “Stranger Things” jeans had no stretch at all.

“It’s like you’re wearing a baseball glove,” he said.

The two also got to cover his much-discussed hair, the weeks he spent training because he was told Steve would be a swimmer, and more. Watch the interview below.

“Stranger Things” Season 2 is available on Netflix now, and “Late Night With Seth Meyers” airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. ET/PT on NBC.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’: Gwendoline Christie Wasn’t Prepared for Tormund’s Laser Eyes of Love

A favorite “Game of Thrones” ship is even more intense than it looks.

Season 7 really “Late Night with Seth Meyers” that Hivju continues using his potent stare on her even after the cameras stop rolling.

“He likes to continue being in character even off set,” Christie told Meyers of her co-star.

She described his behavior as “terrifying,” and pulled out a hilarious anecdote as proof. It seems even the simplest of activities, like eating a sandwich, can become seductive moves when Hivju does them.

“He will start, you know, chewing a sandwich wildly at me. … Really kind of making love to that sandwich as he eyeballs me,” she said. “So strong. Eyes like lasers boring right in.”

Those laser eyes present a unique challenge, because it is hard for her not to laugh. The classically trained actress admits it is “possibly the one time” that she can’t help but “dissolve.” The problem, she revealed, is that she wasn’t prepared for Hivju’s lustful gaze, least of all its intensity.

“No one told me that this was going to happen,” she said of the improvised look that kicked off their budding romance. “I was not expecting the power, the magnitude of … intense sexual intention to pour out of a man’s eyes and cover me.”

We just hope we’ll get to see more of it in Season 8.

    Watch Christie’s hysterical descriptions below.

“Late Night with Seth Meyer” airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. ET/PT on NBC.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Surprises Leslie Jones to Watch Episode 4 Together & It’s Gold

This is pretty funny even if you don’t watch “Game of Thrones” at all.

“Late Night” host Seth Meyers shared another “Game of Jones” episode last night, watching “Game of Thrones” Season 7, Episode 4, “The Spoils of War,” alongside actress and former “Saturday Night Live” comic Leslie Jones. They did one of these last year, but this time the video included a wonderful surprise visit from one of the GoT stars.

Their commentary — especially Leslie’s — is hilarious, especially since they watch very differently. The way Leslie watches and analyzes the show, and reacts to big moments like Drogon swooping in? Magic. Seth didn’t even know you should watch the opening credits to see the different locations. #casual

At one point, during a Varys scene at Dragonstone, Seth asked Leslie for her take on Dany’s adviser. Leslie said Varys is like that girlfriend you can’t tell if she’s really your friend or not, ’cause behind your back she’ll talk all kinds of sh*t. So Leslie was glad when Dany made it clear to Varys that if he had a problem with her, he had to say it to her face.

Cue the actual Varys walking in — Conleth Hill, dressed in Varys garb. Leslie was ecstatic and hugged him, but proceeded to talk to him as Varys and challenged him on his shifty ways. Conleth responded in his own Northern Irish lilt, standing up for Theon — or Theron to Leslie, with Seth arguing that he was given the “r” when he lost his penis — because eunuchs stick together.

Watch the 9 minute video:“Game of Thrones” Season 7 continues with Episode 5, “Eastwatch,” on Sunday, August 13 at 9 p.m. on HBO. Check out the new photos, and the promo.

  • Even ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Star Alexis Bledel Finds the Show Hard to Watch

ENTERTAINMENT-US-TCA-HULU“The Handmaid’s Tale” is the darling of Hulu right now, but that doesn’t mean the dystopian drama series is easy to watch.

Even Seth Meyers’s “Late Night” and revealed that she has to take breaks between episodes and watch something else.

“I have a really hard time watching it,” she said. “I feel very tortured at the end of an episode.”

Fortunately, she didn’t find filming the adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name to be quite so intense. In fact, Bledel couldn’t say enough about how much she enjoyed shooting her scenes and working with her cast mates.

“It didn’t feel the way it feels to watch it,” she told Meyers. “Filming it was an incredible creative experience. It was just so satisfying and lovely.”

That is good news, because her role is expanding in the show’s sophomore season; Bledel has been promoted to series regular, so we’ll be seeing more of her face — at least the part that isn’t covered.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 2 is set to premiere in 2018.

  • Watch Jake Gyllenhaal FaceTime Ryan Reynolds During ‘Late Night’ to Prove They’re Friends

Seth Meyers is the only loser in this story, since he missed the whole thing play out. “Late Night” talking more about his bromance with co-star Ryan Reynolds.

Seth Meyers called the two yin and yang, surprised that they got along so well in real life. Gyllenhaal said he knew Reynolds in passing beforehand, but didn’t really get to know him until they started shooting. “He’s just a great dude.” Meyers asked if they’re really friends. Gyllenhaal quipped, “No. I mean I don’t know him, I’ve never really spoken to him.” Meyers asked if he could get Reynolds on the phone. Gyllenhaal said yes, and whipped out his phone in an attempt to FaceTime him.

    It did not work.

The phone just rang and rang with no answer. You can just picture Reynolds on the other end, offering a deep sigh and an eyeroll to the heavens. Not this guy again.

Meyers said Gyllenhaal didn’t really know Ryan Reynolds. Gyllenhaal swore he did, and said he’d try again while Meyers did something else. So they tried again.

    It did not work. Again.

The phone rang and rang. However, when they went to a commercial break, and Meyers went backstage to deal with a microphone issue, Ryan Reynolds actually called back. So Gyllenhaal stole Meyers’s desk and chatted with Reynolds while the actor was out pushing his kids in a stroller.

That part happens at the 3:10 mark:At least JGyll got to prove he’s friends with Ry-guy! Although, if you watched their classic junket interview, you already knew that.
