  • Kit Harington Takes Shocking Lie Detector Test About Jon Snow’s Death

Kit Harington Portrait SessionNo one could possibly be looking forward to “Game of Thrones” Season 6 more than Kit Harington so he can stop answering everyone’s constant bloody questions about Jon Snow. Is he dead? Is he really dead? But how dead is he? Is he staying dead? Fans basically stalked Harington through filming for the new season, even more than usual, and pointed out when they saw him on set as evidence that Jon Snow is maybe not SO dead.

Season 6 is starting on April 24, and the cast members, including Harington, are in promotion mode. Harington was just on “The Jonathan Ross Show” and he was asked/forced to do a lie detector test to answer questions on Jon Snow. It wasn’t your typical test, though: Harington had to put his arm in the “Stone of Truth” and if Ross didn’t like Harington’s answer he got an electric shock.

The only acceptable answers were “yes,” “no,” or “I know nothing.”

    Here’s the conversation:

    Here’s a mini transcript:

    Jonathan Ross: “Are you dead?”

Kit Harington: “Yes.” At that point, we hear a buzzing. “It actually gives me a shock!” He said on a scale of 1-10 the shock was a 5, so Ross turned it up and asked the same question. It was still “yes.”

Ross: “Can I see your dead face please?”

Harington does his stone face, dead Jon Snow expression.

Ross: “Is there any nudity in the next series?”

    Harington: “I know nothing.”

Ross: “Are you playing a dead body in the next series.”

    Harington: “Yes.”

Ross: “Do you become a white walker?”

    Harington: “No.”

Ross: “Do you come back as [couldn’t make out the name, someone famous in England, maybe]?”

Harington and the audience laugh. “No.”

But he didn’t say he wouldn’t come back as something other than a dead body. Either way we will see him when HBO premieres “Game of Thrones” Season 6 on Sunday, April 24.

  • ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ Season 4 Promo Spoils Jon Snow’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Fate

inside amy schumer, amy schumer, season 4, promo, game of thrones, jon snowOne of the most beloved shows on cable is returning later next month, and whether you immediately thought of either “Game of Thrones” or “Inside Amy Schumer” will reveal whether or not you will enjoy the semi-spoilery joke at the heart of the new “Schumer” season four promo.

The clip features Amy Schumer in her best “Thrones” garb, riding a horse and proclaiming that she knows what happens to Jon Snow, the character who may or may not have been killed off on the HBO fantasy series. (And if you’re at all a spoiler-phobe concerning “Thrones” news, you may want to stop reading now in case the comedienne’s pronouncement is actually true.)

“No spoilers, but Jon Snow is definitely alive,” Schumer says, “’cause he said no to doing our show.”

We’d say that promising that Kit Harington won’t show up on “Inside” could be considered a spoiler anyway (after his surprisingly hilarious turn in HBO mockumentary “7 Days in Hell,” we think he’d be a perfect fit for the sketch series), but that’s a minor quibble. Hopefully “Thrones” fans don’t read too much into it.

Season four of “Inside Amy Schumer” premieres on Comedy Central on April 21.

  • Emilia Clarke Is Sick of ‘Game of Thrones’ Sexism Complaints

“Game of Thrones” may be one of the most popular shows on television — and has the Emmy hardware to prove it — but it’s not immune to backlash. One complaint that’s gotten a lot of traction lately is that the show is sexist, something that surfaced most recently after last season’s controversial Sansa storyline. Now, star Emilia Clarke — a.k.a. Daenerys Targaryen — has struck back, declaring that the sexism criticism couldn’t be further from the truth.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Clarke discussed what fans can expect in the upcoming sixth season, and, like she’s teased before, the actress promised big things ahead for her character and the rest of Westeros. But when asked to address what critics have been saying about the show’s approach to female characters, Clarke dismissed that talk, explaining to EW that the series is actually a great one for women.

Here’s what the actress told the magazine:

There’s so much controversy. Yet that’s what’s beautiful about ‘Game of Thrones’ – its depiction of women in so many different stages of development. There are women depicted as sexual tools, women who have zero rights, women who are queens but only to a man, and then there are women who are literally unstoppable and as powerful as you can possibly imagine. So it pains me to hear people taking ‘Thrones’ out of context with anti-feminist spin – because you can’t do that about this show. It shows the range that happens to women, and ultimately shows women are not only equal, but have a lot of strength.

Sophie Turner said some similar things during a recent interview, and we’d certainly agree with Clarke that the show features a huge spectrum of women. You can choose sides on the issue yourself when “Thrones” returns for season six on April 24.

  • Tyrion Takes Charge in New ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Photos and Footage

There’s been a lot of talk about Jon Snow’s fate in “Game of Thrones” Season 6, but what about some of our other favorites, like Tyrion Lannister?

HBO has given us a lot to analyze in the past month, from that first major trailer to this new “March Madness Promo” with fresh footage, and a few new photos from Entertainment Weekly.

The main trailer already gave us the line from Tyrion, “You are in the great game now, and the great game is terrifying.” The new promo adds the preceding question, “Are you afraid? You should be.” Who is he talking to? Grey Worm, perhaps?

The main trailer also showed Tyrion descending into a dark space, holding a torch, which hints to a visit to Daenerys Targaryen’s other two dragons. (Those poor dragons; locked away when they didn’t do anything wrong, and their brother is out free, flying around with Mom.) One takeaway from the new promo is a shot of Tyrion seeming to take Dany’s place as acting leader in Meereen, stepping down from her throne to speak to a group, flanked by Grey Worm and Missandei.
We also see Tyrion with Varys in a new photo shared by EW. Here’s the caption that goes with the image shown at top:

“Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Varys (Conleth Hill) on the streets of Meereen. The duo will strive to manage the city using Westeros-style politics to keep it from once again falling into chaos.”

Beyond Tyrion, the new trailer teases the High Sparrow saying (probably to Margaery), “We are sinful creatures. We deserve death. We all do.” We also see a shot of Cersei Lannister looking at something with tears in her eyes, then closing them. Is this before or after she tells Lancel, “I choose violence,” as she does in the main trailer? In EW, Lena Headey teased that Cersei’s walk of shame only “worsened things” and she hasn’t found any humility at all. “It’s fueled her desire for power and her desperation to prove that she’s somebody worth considering.”

Here are some other new images from EW:

  • Sophie Turner Doesn’t Want Sansa to Survive ‘Game of Thrones’

“Game of Thrones” fans still have another month to go before the show returns for its sixth season, and while the epic first trailer has gotten viewers excited about the new episodes, the show’s cast is pretty pumped, too. Emilia Clarke (a.k.a. Daenerys Targaryen) has already promised that season six will be the biggest spectacle in television history, and now, Sophie Turner has also teased some big things ahead — and has made a rather interesting demand for the fate of her character, Sansa Stark.

In an interview with the WSJ Cafe, Turner said that season six would set itself apart from previous seasons because before, characters were spreading out, and now, “everything is kind of coming together, and storylines are intertwining, and people are forming alliances with other characters, and everyone’s kind of coming towards the same goal.”

For Sansa — who, yes, did survive that jump at the end of season five — that means a more assertive role than we’ve seen her play before.

“This season is about her taking charge and being a leader, rather than just being a pawn in someone else’s game,” Turner told WSJ. “So this is a big season for her. She’s really gonna thrive this season.”

As for Sansa’s ultimate fate, Turner admitted that showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss won’t tell her anything, despite the fact that she “constantly pester[s]” them. But she has one very specific request.

“I don’t want to survive,” the actress told WSJ. “I think if you’re on ‘Game of Thrones’ and you don’t have a cool death scene, then what’s the point? I think it would be really disappointing if I got to the end and I was just okay.”

Turner may just get her wish, since she teased that there would be some big shocks in the episodes ahead, on par with season three’s infamous Red Wedding episode.

“‘Game of Thrones’ never disappoints,” she said. ” … This is the best season yet, and it’s really gonna blow people’s minds. Fans are going to be very happy with this season.”

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Trailer Shatters 24-Hour Viewing Record

Well, we know what you have been doing in the past 24 hours: Watching the new “Game of Thrones” Season 6 trailer … again … and again. Fans waited a long time for this one, and it’s paying off for HBO.

According to Entertainment Weekly, HBO confirmed that the new trailer has already broken records, with eight million views on YouTube and 22 million on the official Facebook page within 24 hours. The previous high was the first Season 5 trailer, which had 27 million views on its first day. So 30 million in 24 hours — actually less than 24 hours, since it’s more than 30 million at this point — is very impressive indeed.
There are several reasons for the intense interest in Season 6, including the fate of Jon Snow, but also the many other characters who were left in really bad positions at the end of Season 5. Plus, this is the first time that book readers are kinda/sorta on the same blank page as the TV-only viewers. There are still some scenes ahead from the books, but a lot of pure surprises, too, which is refreshing and scary.

Rewatch the full trailer over here, to add more views to the record-breaking tally, and speculation-lovers can read about the possible Jon Snow-related flashback the trailer teases.

Season 6 starts April 24 on HBO.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Trailer Hints to Major Jon Snow-Related Flashback

The realm rarely rallies on a Tuesday, but the “Game of Thrones” gods smiled on us yesterday with that amazing Season 6 trailer. Fans immediately started analyzing the images, and there was a lot to unpack.

Two shots in particular stood out as different from the others, in that they didn’t seem to fit with any current storylines, and possibly hinted to a much-anticipated flashback….

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead. Major spoilers. Sharp, pointy spoilers*

Eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed that the insignia on that two-sworded guy’s shield in the top photo is the sigil for House Targaryen. We don’t know of any Targaryen armies hanging around lately, and even Daenerys Targaryen doesn’t have that kind of armor. But they did not quite 20 years ago during Robert’s Rebellion.

Based on that armor, and the shot above that maaaaayyyyy be a young Ned Stark, it looks like we are in for a flashback sequence, most likely resulting in the raid on the Tower of Joy and the revelation of R+L=J.

In the story, Ned and six of his companions (including Howland Reed, father of Meera and Jojen) approached the Tower of Joy to save Ned’s sister, Lyanna Stark, presumed to have been kidnapped by Rhaegar Targaryen. They found her dying, and she made Ned promise something to her before she died.
Well, the overall assumption is that she died after giving birth to the guy we call Jon Snow, who is actually the natural son of Rhaegar and Lyanna (R+L=J). Ned, loyal true Ned, is thought to have promised his dying sister that he would raise Jon as his own, allowing his own honor to be tarnished from the scandal, and leading his wife Catelyn to forever resent Jon Snow.

Why would we get this story now, and how? Maybe we see it through Bran Stark’s visions. Or maybe Meera Reed finds a way to tell Jon his story, if her father told her. Or maybe Melisandre has a decent vision in the flames. Or maybe only we the audience see it and Jon doesn’t find out for a while. Because for heaven’s sake, JON SNOW IS COMING BACK. He is the ice in the book series’s “A Song of Ice and Fire.” This is his destiny, and Ned meant to tell him about his mother when he saw Jon again, but he never got the chance. Season 6 appears to be our chance to learn the truth.

“Game of Thrones” Season 6 premieres Sunday, April 24 on HBO. Keep watching the trailer for more clues.

  • The Full ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Trailer Is Finally Here

After months of Game of Thrones” is finally here, and boy, are there a lot of goodies for fans to savor.

The moody clip (expertly soundtracked by James Vincent McMorrow’s sparse cover of Chris Isaak tune “Wicked Game”) is packed with eye-popping visuals and throat-catching theatrics, including some harrowing speeches promising plenty of drama for the residents of Westeros in the season ahead.

“Everything they’ve taken from us, we’re going to take back, and more,” Jamie, returned from Dorne, promises Cersei as they plot their revenge. Later, Cersei pledges to “choose violence” going forward.

“You’re in the great game now. And the great game is terrifying,” Tyrion warns an unseen foe.

That terror extends to just about every character in the show, who all get brief cameos during the trailer. There’s glimpses of Jon Snow (whose fate is still infuriatingly vague), Bran, Sansa, Arya, The Mountain, Theon Greyjoy, Danerys, Brienne of Tarth, Melisandre, and many, many more. And lest we’ve forgotten the sexier aspects of “GOT,” there’s also a brief look at a lesbian makeout session. It’s good to know that some things never change.

The clip pulls double-duty at being both enticing and confusing, which is really what any good trailer should strive for. There’s still over a month before the new episodes debut, which should be plenty of time to parse the promo for any and every clue it provides.

  • Jon Snow Is in ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6, With a Catch

Jon Snow Game of Thrones“Game of Thrones” fans to accept that Jon Snow is dead and that he’s not starring in season 6 of the HBO drama.

The fate of his character has been the subject of much speculation since last year’s finale, but the actor adamantly told Time Out London that Jon is dead, deal with it.

“Look, I’m not in the show any more. I’m definitely not in the new series,” he said.

Harington has been spotted on set in Northern Ireland, though. There’s a reason for that: “I filmed some scenes of me being dead,” he explained, then joked, “It’s some of my best work.”

Of course, Harington, the show’s producers, and other cast members have all stated in the past that Jon Snow is definitely dead. Somehow, we think that probably won’t stop fans from theorizing on ways the character could still be alive. We’ll find out the truth when “Game of Thrones” season 6 premieres April 24.

  • Spoiler Alert: No ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Screeners Are Coming, for Anyone

Hodor! “Game of Thrones” Season 6 premieres April 24, and we will all have to watch each episode as a TV viewing family. For the first time, HBO has decided not to send out any “Game of Thrones” review copies to press. Last year, they doled out the first four hours to the media and someone effed up, ’cause the content leaked onto BitTorrent before the premiere.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

“We’re not sending out press copies this year, anywhere in the world,” HBO programming president Michael Lombardo told Entertainment Weekly. “There will be no copies for review.” He added that “it’s painful” for showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss when the leaks happen because they’re throwing a surprise party for all of us and someone popped the balloons.

“When you have press copies, inevitably friends ask, ‘Can I see your copy?’” Lombardo added. “There are things that happen. We talked about the upsides and downsides. Some of the press are fans who might be disappointed, but they’ll understand.”

Many fans probably don’t care, ’cause it’s not like they got special treatment to see the episodes in advance, and now we’re all on the same level playing field. Anyone who was unintentionally spoiled last year may be cheering, ’cause the odds of that happening again just went down. However, anyone hoping for early episode leaks is probably out of luck … although they can just go to Watchers on the Wall for casting and filming spoilers.
