  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Trailer Brings ‘Thriller’ to Hawkins

Two pop culture sensations have come together — “Stranger Things” and “Thriller.”

Netflix’s San Diego Comic-Con presentation on Saturday came with a brand new trailer for Season 2 of its hit sci-fi horror series in which the Michael Jackson song is prominently featured. However, with all the intrigue the preview offers, “Thriller” wasn’t necessary to capture our interest. Not at all.

The footage returns us to Hawkins, Indiana, where arcade games aren’t enough to distract Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) from a lingering darkness. Creepy, bizarre things are happening, and the poor kid is struggling even with the support of his friends Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo). We don’t know what the culprit is yet, of course — that’s what Season 2 is for.

Meanwhile, we don’t see anything of everyone’s favorite waffle lover Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) initially. Don’t worry, though; she pops up at the end, bloody nose and all.

“Stranger Things” Season 2 hits Netflix on Oct. 27.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Gets Release Date, Teaser, Poster

Welcome back to Hawkins! Now, batten down the hatches, because a storm is a-brewing.

Netflix announced the release date for Season 2 of its hit supernatural drama “Stranger Things” — Friday, October 27 … just in time for Halloween.

That’s apt since some spooky stuff is going down in Hawkins, Indiana. The new teaser promises: “1984 only gets stranger.”

Season 2 is set about a year after the events of the first season. Not much is known about the plot, other than that there’s a new evil that “makes the Demagorgon look quaint.” Meanwhile, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) continues to struggle with memories of his abduction to the Upside Down. And there are some new cast members, including Sean Astin as a love interest for Winona Ryder and a couple of new kids in school.

Netflix also released the first poster for Season 2, which depicts a rager of a storm hitting town. Whether it’s literal or metaphorical, we’ll have to wait and find out.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Also Ends on Nail-Biting Cliffhanger

If you finished “Stranger Things” Season 1 with a ton of questions, just wait for the end of Season 2!

The stars of Netflix’s supernatural drama have been very coy with details about the second season, which premieres on Halloween. But Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, teased that the ending will be just as WTF-y as the first.

In Season 2, fans can expect “a good amount of explanation that they’ve been looking for, but also there are some new stories coming in that you’re gonna want to hear about if there is a Season 3,” he told Huffington Post. “Also, we got another cliffhanger in there for ya, so that’s gonna be exciting.”

OK, considering the show is built on suspense, maybe it isn’t too surprising that the season ends on a cliffhanger (and of course, there will be a Season 3).

Not much else is known about Season 2. There will be new faces, including Sean Astin, Will Chase, and Bret Gelman. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is back, in an undetermined way. And evil forces come to play that “make the Demogorgon look quaint in retrospect.”

“Stranger Things” Season 2 begins streaming Oct. 31 on Netflix.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2: Millie Bobby Brown Says We’ll Like the Show Even More

2017 MTV Movie And TV Awards - Press RoomIt might not even seem possible, but “Stranger Things” Season 2 is going to be better than the first — at least that’s what Millie Bobby Brown says.

The actress couldn’t say much about the Netflix series’ upcoming sophomore season when she was interviewed at Sunday’s MTV Movie and TV Awards — where she won Best Actor in a Show for her portrayal of Eleven — but she did share a few clues. Not only did she promise it would be “very good, very funny,” she indicated that there will be big changes, as InStyle reports.

“It’s very dark,” she said. “It’s a lot different from Season 1; you’re going to like it a lot more than Season 1.”

With Netflix being extra secretive this season, she didn’t give away any more information than that, especially not the murky fate of her character.

“You’ve just got to watch it,” she said.

That goes without saying. We need to know definitively what happened to Eleven, not to mention catch up with the rest of the Hawkins gang. Season 2 will deal with fallout from Season 1, picking up a year after where we left off.

Netflix will unveil its newest “Stranger Things” episodes on Halloween.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Adds ‘Nashville’ Star Will Chase

WILL CHASEWill Chase, best known for singing his way into hearts on “Nashville” and “Smash,” is joining the cast of “Stranger Things” Season 2.

TV Line reports that Chase will play Neil Mayfield, the father of a family new to Hawkins, Indiana. It sounds like he’s the dad to tomboy Max (Sadie Sink) and bad boy Billy (Dacre Montgomery), who were announced as part of the Season 2 cast last fall.

They join newcomers Sean Astin as a love interest for Winona Ryder; Paul Reiser as a Department of Energy boss in town to do damage control; Brett Gelman as a conspiracy theorist; and Linnea Berthelsen as an emotionally damaged woman tied to the strange events of last season.

Details of Season 2 are being kept under lock and key, with cast members saying the Netflix drama is being stricter than ever about leaks.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2: Netflix Is Being Even More Secretive Than Last Year

Even birthing one of the “Stranger Things” kids isn’t enough to get you advanced intel on Season 2 anymore.

In an new interview for Emmy magazine, the cast revealed that Netflix is being more careful to avoid leaks compared to the show’s first season. The kids can’t even let their parents or other family members read the scripts.

“It’s a new season, and it’s a lot stricter than last year,” Gaten Matazarro (Dustin) told Emmy.

Apparently, he sent his brother the scripts last year, but that’s not allowed anymore because of concerns over “hacking interference,” as he put it.

We can’t blame the streamer for calling for caution. Netflix is unfortunately very familiar with more than just scripts ending up in the wrong hands; just this week, a “Orange Is the New Black” Season 5 online ahead of its release.

Netflix evidently has some work to do to figure out how to prevent such hacks in the future. “Stranger Things” is due out this fall, and it seems like another show that could be targeted given its large following.

In the meantime, stars Matarazzo, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, and Noah Schnapp are filming in Atlanta, Georgia. We’ll get more of the addicting series when “Stranger Things” Season 2 premieres Oct. 31 on Netflix.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Could Run for Four or Five Seasons

stranger things, season 2, netflix, duffers, ross duffer, matt dufferThe second season of Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things” hasn’t even debuted yet, but that hasn’t stopped its creators from thinking about what lies ahead for the show — and just how long it could run on the streaming service.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Duffers — a.k.a. brothers and co-creators Ross and Matt Duffer — chatted about the future of “Stranger Things,” both in season two and beyond. And according to the duo, they have thought about how many seasons of the show they’d ultimately like to make, telling EW that the sweet spot they’re currently considering is four or five.

Still, the brothers stress that they don’t want to wear out their TV welcome, and will wrap the story when they feel it’s time. They’ll reassess their plan from season to season, they said.

“Everything changes as we move forward so we’ll see,” Ross Duffer told EW.

“I want it to have a really finite ending,” added Matt Duffer. “I don’t want it to be one of those shows that runs out of gas and they lose it because they’re losing interest. You wanna end when you’re on top.”

Fans shouldn’t worry about the show ending anytime soon, though: The Duffers also told EW that season two definitely sets things in motion for future seasons.

“Stranger Things” returns to Netflix for its sophomore outing sometime around Halloween.

  • Watch the ‘Stranger Things’ Kids Go Crazy Over Their Super Bowl TV Spot

Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin and Noah Schnapp Prepare For The 74th Annual Golden Globe AwardsNo one, not even Patriots fans, was more excited than the “Stranger Things” kids during Super Bowl LI.

The big game is always known for its standout ads, and this year, the Netflix series’ Season 2 teaser was a huge highlight, both on social media and for its stars. Actors Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Noah Schnapp (Will), and Finn Wolfhard (Mike) gathered together to watch their show’s ad, and their enthusiastic reaction was priceless. Fortunately, Schnapp was kind enough to share a video of Sunday’s special moment.

As you can see, TV is serious business, even when it’s just a 30-second TV spot, not the game-winning drive in the NFL’s biggest game of the year. The group’s shouts, shushes, and jumps were surprisingly reminiscent of the stadium’s fans. The only things missing were Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), but hopefully they got to share in the love somehow, too.

  • Here’s a First Look at ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Super Bowl Ad

    Something’s strange in the neighborhood!

The first teaser trailer for Netflix’s supernatural hit drama “Stranger Things” will air during the Super Bowl this Sunday. We aren’t expecting to see a whole lot of footage, but Entertainment Weekly has a sneak peek photo that is definitely something to get excited about:

    Stranger Things

Yes, that’s Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Will (Noah Schnapp) dressed as Ghostbusters. Maybe it’s Halloween and the three friends are heading to their school’s Halloween party. But where’s the fourth Ghostbuster, Mike (Finn Wolfhard)?

“Stranger Things” season 2 is set a year after the events of season 1, as the kids, Joyce (Winona Ryder), and Chief Hopper (David Harbour) attempt to lead normal lives again. But of course, the Upside Down is still out there — and the fate of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is still up in the air. Season 2 is expected to stream later this year.

  • Millie Bobby Brown Returning as Eleven in ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2

    Stranger ThingsLeggo her Eggos!

“Stranger Things.” The fate of the superpower-wielding tween was left up in the air at the end of season 1, when she vanished while defeating the monster from the Upside Down.

But in the last scene of the finale Chief Hopper (David Harbour) left a box of Eggo waffles (her favorite food) in a box in the woods, indicating she could still be alive.

While the show confirmed the return of most of the cast, Brown was conspicuously left off the list. And season 2 added two new characters, including a girl named Max who “looks more like a boy than a girl.”

Fear not, though — looks like Eleven will be back in some way. Season 2 picks up a year later, in 1984, and explores the “bigger mythology” of the Upside Down. It is expected to stream on Netflix sometime in 2017.
