  • ‘Stranger Things’ Brings Together 2 Departed Characters to Rewatch Their Death Scenes

There were some sad deaths in “Stranger Things” Season 2, and Netflix clearly knows we’re not totally over them yet.

The streamer released a video Thursday called “A Stranger Things Reunion” that gives a happy ending to two former cast members in a unique way. It features Sean Astin, who played the heroic Bob Newby, and Mews the cat, both of whom were brutally killed by Demodogs in Season 2. The video answers the question “where are they now?” and offers reassurance in a tongue-in-cheek way that they’re doing fine. To be honest, the healing might be more for us than it is for them.

As you can see, there is life after being killed off of “Stranger Things”: Netflix will bring you back every once in a while to give fans more of what they want — and to help promote the show.

“Stranger Things” Season 3 is currently in production, and new episodes are expected to hit Netflix in 2019.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Star David Harbour Had a Serious Concern About Season 2

One of the most beautiful parts of “Stranger Things” Season 2 could have been read as creepy, and perhaps no one is happier than David Harbour that it wasn’t.

The actor was worried about a particular story line — that of his character, Hopper, becoming a father figure to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). With the first episode, “MADMAX,” revealing that the two were living alone in a cabin in the woods together, he wasn’t sure how the audience would respond. As he recently told EW, the possible “serial killer vibes” concerned him.

“I was terrified that the audience’s takeaway would be that this was either sexualized in some way or that it was in some way dangerous,” he said.

While we see his point given that we live in a world where that is sadly a valid concern, their case is decidedly not creepy. In “Stranger Things,” Hopper and Eleven form a familial bond and genuinely come to care about one another. The most harmful thing Hopper does is try to take away Eleven’s Eggo waffles. Not only is their relationship not worrisome, it is touching; the two become a family after having both lost theirs. Fans saw that and appreciated it.

“I was very, very proud and overwhelmed by the response of people just getting that Hopper is a good guy and that he does really love her and care about her and is worried about her and that that relationship really resonated on a father-daughter level,” Harbour said.

Granted, Hopper and Eleven had their growing pains as they adjusted to living together, but hopefully they’ll have an easier time of it in Season 3. So far, Netflix has not announced a premiere date, but the show is expected to return in 2019.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Already Has Huge Viewership, According to Nielsen Data

Well done, “Stranger Things” fans: Thanks to you, Season 2’s early viewership is already impressive.

Yes, “Stranger Things” seems to have done it again. Nielsen released numbers on Thursday showing that Season 2 got off to an excellent start in its first three days, starting with its Oct. 27 premiere. Not surprisingly, the figures are as strong as Eleven’s telekinetic abilities.

The data finds that more than 15.8 million people watched the first episode within the first three days, and the episodes averaged more than 4 million viewers each over the same time period, according to Variety. On top of that, there was a lot of binge-watching; 361,000 finished the entire nine-episode season in the first 24 hours.

That said, it’s important to know that Netflix hasn’t put much stock in Nielsen’s streaming numbers in the past. When Nielsen announced in mid-October that it would track viewership for TV episodes streaming on Netflix, the streamer described the data as “not even close” and “not accurate,” according to Variety. That makes it hard to say how much weight we should give the “Stranger Things” numbers.

Whatever the exact numbers may be, though, Season 2 has gotten quite a reaction so far — just look at any social media site.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Best New Character Erica Getting Bigger Role in Season 3

All of the new characters on Netflix’s “Stranger Things 2” had their shining moments, but let’s be real — the best of them was, without a doubt, Erica.

Lucas’s little sister, played by Priah Ferguson, stole every scene she was in. Whether she was teasing Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) for being a nerd or unceremoniously hanging up the walkie talkie on Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Erica brought the sass hard and we are here for it.

She was such a standout that the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, plan to expand her role in Season 3.

“It was going to be a throwaway part,” Matt Duffer told Vulture. “This girl came in from Georgia and just killed it, and then she killed it on set. I was thinking, ‘Maybe she just nailed the audition,’ but it was every day. We were dying.”

He added, “Any excuse we had to get Erica in there, we’d write her in.”

And fans can expect to see a lot of lil sis.

“There will definitely be more Erica in Season 3,” Ross Duffer told Yahoo.

    Added Matt Duffer, “I thought she’s very GIF-able, if that’s a word.”

    She’ll make it a word:

  • ‘Stranger Things 2’ Is Getting an After Show Called ‘Beyond Stranger Things’

“Stranger Things” is the latest buzzy series to launch an after show, with Netflix announcing that a companion series will premiere on the streaming service in conjunction with the second season of the ’80s-set horror-drama.

“Beyond Stranger Things” is also set to debut on the same day as “Stranger Things 2,” October 27, and features a roundtable discussion of each of the season’s seven episodes, hosted by comedian and avowed “Stranger Things” superfan Jim Rash. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Beyond” will “explore the inspiration for the series, tell behind-the-scenes stories and analyze every aspect of the second season, including answering all burning questions.”

And according to THR, Netflix is warning fans not to start watching “Beyond” until after they finish streaming the entirety of season two.

Here’s a short teaser for the after show, featuring a clip from its first episode:

Each episode will feature multiple guests, some of them surprises, though most will consist of the “Stranger Things” cast and crew. Announced guests so far include brothers and co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer; executive producer Shawn Levy; and stars Sean Astin, Linnea Berthelsen, Millie Bobby Brown, Natalia Dyer, Brett Gelman, David Harbour, Randy Havens (the teacher), Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Dacre Montgomery, Paul Reiser, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and Finn Wolfhard.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Clip Reveals Part of Eleven’s Journey

Stranger ThingsThe fate of Eleven has gotten some much needed clarity.

With “Stranger Things” Season 2 due out in less than two weeks, Netflix has continued to reveal new information about what lies ahead for our favorite kids from Hawkins, Indiana. The latest tidbit came in a clip released Monday at MCM Comic Con. If you don’t want any spoilers, stop reading now.

Thanks to Season 2’s trailers, we know Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) will find her way out of the Upside Down and back to Hawkins, Indiana. Now, we also know how she’ll escape the eerie world where we last saw her. The new scene shows her finding a way out of the Upside Down in the school hallway. With the help of her powers, she is able to break on through to the other side.

There is nothing like the promise of Eggo waffles as an incentive, is there?

We can’t wait to see where else the show will take Eleven and the others when the story continues. “Stranger Things” Season 2 is available on Netflix starting Oct. 27.

  • Six New ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Episode Titles Have Been Revealed

Put on your thinking cap, because there are new “Stranger Things” Season 2 clues to try to solve.

Netflix dropped a teaser on Monday that reveals the titles of six of the nine upcoming episodes. Most of them are different from the ones you may remember being released by the streamer in late August. After unveiling the episode titles, the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, decided to do some renaming.

What they came up with are the following titles, presumably in episode order: “Madmax”; “Trick or Treat Freak”; “The Pollywog”; “Will the Wise”; “Dig Dug”; and “The Spy.” So far, the titles for the final three episodes of the season remain under wraps.

Of the episodes we do have titles for, there is limited overlap with the previously released titles. While the Season 2 premiere, “Madmax,” retains the same name, there is only one other title that is reused: “The Pollywog.” Interestingly, Netflix previously listed that episode sixth instead of third in the earlier video, making it unclear if the title is being used for a different episode, or if Netflix was being tricky by initially revealing episode titles out of order.

The original list, in the order they appeared, was: “Madmax”; “The Boy Who Came Back to Life”; “The Pumpkin Patch”; “The Palace”; “The Storm”; “The Pollywog”; “The Secret Cabin”; “The Brain”; and “The Lost Brother.”

We don’t have to wait long to get all of our answers. “Stranger Things” Season 2 premieres Oct. 27 on Netflix.

  • New ‘Stranger Things’ Video Game Will Tide You Over Till Season 2 Premieres

If you’re at a loss for how to pass the time until “Stranger Things” Season 2 premieres, fret no more, because Netflix has you covered.

The company has come up with the perfect way for fans of the series to get their fix in between seasons. Along with BonusXP, Inc., a game-development studio, Netflix launched “Stranger Things: The Game.” The ’80s-inspired video game is now available for free download on Apple and Android mobile devices through the Apple App Store and Google Play, respectively.

The game lets fans see another version of the fictional Hawkins, Indiana, where the show is set, plus explore it and the surrounding areas. Players take on a variety of puzzles, using the unique abilities of the main characters to solve them. Along the way, there are Eggos and Gnomes to be collected.

From what we’ve seen in the game’s trailer, it looks like a lot of fun.

We know what we’ll be doing between now and Season 2’s Oct. 27 premiere.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Is ‘Hopped up,’ Says Finn Wolfhard

The Hollywood Reporter And SAG-AFTRA Inaugural Emmy Nominees Night Presented By American Airlines, Breguet, And Dacor - Red Carp“Stranger Things” is only getting bigger and better in Season 2.

With the show set to return just in time for Halloween, the cast and crew have been hyping what we’re all hoping will be another amazing season. Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, had a particularly intriguing way of describing the quality of the upcoming episodes.

“It’s ‘Stranger Things’ but just sorta hopped up a little,” he told EW. “It’s almost like Season 1 was drinking a Coke and Season 2 they drank a Red Bull.”

That sounds intense — but in a good way. Season 2 is going to have some heavy stuff to deal with, after all. The series will show the aftermath of Season 1’s dramatic events, including Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) being abducted and stuck in the Upside Down. There will also been new characters involved and another scary monster.

The Duffer brothers, the creators of “Stranger Things,” are aware of how serious and “rabid” their fans are, and they are determined to give them a season they’ll love.

“We want people to argue about what season is better,” Matt told EW. “I want the debate. I want the ‘Toy Story’ debate!”

We want that just as much as they do, and we’ll see if they get it when “Stranger Things” Season 2 hits Netflix on Oct. 27.
