  • ‘Roseanne’ Pays Tribute to Actor Glenn Quinn, Who Died at Age 32

    They haven’t forgotten Mark.

The April 10 episode of “Roseanne” revival Season 10 followed Becky Conner (Lecy Goranson) learning she has a slim-to-none chance of getting pregnant. She told sister Darlene (Sara Gilbert) that she and husband Mark (Glenn Quinn) had been trying to get pregnant before he died, and she hasn’t been able to find anyone else as good as him.

The show dedicated the episode to Glenn Quinn, who played Becky’s boyfriend and then husband on the show from 1990 to 1997. (The Irish actor also had a devoted fan base as Doyle from “Angel.”) Glenn died from an accidental heroin overdose in December 2002. He was 32.

Here’s the tribute card the show aired for Glenn:

Michael Fishman (D.J. Conner) also shared a photo and tribute from Glenn Quinn’s gravesite:

“Roseanne” continues to keep Mark on the show in its own way:

Gone far too soon. RIP, Glenn Quinn.

  • ‘Roseanne’ Premiere Sets New Delayed Viewing Record With 25 Million Viewers

The first episode of “Roseanne” Season 10 added 6.59 million more viewers — a record number — in the days after its March 27 premiere. Who were the added viewers? Probably rubberneckers wondering what all of the fuss was about.

The ABC revival launched last Tuesday, earning just over 18 million viewers. Now that the Live+3 numbers are tallied from DVR, On Demand, and other delayed viewing, the number is up to 25.04 million.

According to Deadline, that’s the largest-ever total viewer Live+3 increase, beating the previous record holder, which was also an ABC show — the premiere of “How to Get Away with Murder.” That show had a 5.93 million gain vs. the 6.59 just added by “Roseanne.”

The Live+3 numbers also boosted the premiere 2.1 rating points in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demo, ultimately giving it a hefty 7.3 rating. That’s the best uptick for a comedy premiere, and the best increase for a comedy since a “Big Bang Theory” episode in December 2015.

ABC has already renewed “Roseanne” for Season 11, based on the premiere overnight numbers and — probably — all of the buzz and controversy surrounding the show. President Donald Trump even called Roseanne Barr to congratulate her on the yuge premiere numbers. He may have been assuming those 18 million — now 25 million — viewers were also his voters. (Not true, as shown in many premiere reactions.)

However, just because the premiere was a political talking point doesn’t mean the rest of Season 10 will follow suit. Will “Roseanne” stay strong with viewers as the weeks go on? We shall see.

“Roseanne” continues Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

  • ‘Roseanne’ Revival Renewed By ABC For Season 11

In completely unsurprising news, ABC is renewing the recently revived “Roseanne” for another season, its 11th.

The blue collar comedy debuted to whopping ratings earlier this week. Counting one day of delayed viewing, it drew 21.89 million viewers and an astonishing 6.24 rating among the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic.

“We’re thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes,” said Channing Dungey, ABC Entertainment president, in a statement. “The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We can’t wait to see what the Roseanne team has in store for next year.”

The entire main cast, including Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman, are expected to return. Other familiar faces like Estelle Parsons, Sandra Bernhard, and James Pickens Jr. will make guest appearances.

Sources say Season 11 will have 13 episodes versus this year’s nine.

The success of the “Roseanne” revival is astonishing, especially when viewership has been declining for several years. The premiere was the highest-rated scripted broadcast of the season and the highest-rated sitcom in three years.

  • ‘Roseanne’ Revival Premiere Draws a Strong Reaction From Fans

The Conners returned in full force for Tuesday night’s revival of “Roseanne.”

Season 10 started with back-to-back episodes, earning a massive 18.2 million viewers and a 5.1 rating among adults 18-49.

The premiere quickly joked about and then explained Dan’s (John Goodman) death from the Season 9 finale: Dan finds Roseanne’s unpublished transcript in the garage, and quips, “This would’ve sold like hotcakes if only you hadn’t killed off the most interesting character.”

The revival also established Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) as a Trump supporter with aunt/life coach Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) as a “nasty woman” who wanted to vote for Hillary Clinton until Roseanne put doubts in her mind … so she went with Jill Stein.

We also saw how the two Beckys would be used together — with original Becky actress Lecy Goranson planning to be a surrogate for Andrea, played by second Becky actress Sarah Chalke.

The most heartwarming storyline was tied to Darlene (Sara Gilbert) moving back home with her two kids after losing her job. One of those kids is her son, Mark (Ames McNamara), who happens to like to dress in girls’ clothing sometimes, which worried Dan enough to give the kid a knife to take to school to fend off bullies.

All in all, it was a topical but still very funny premiere that felt to most fans like old times. However, because there were so many political lightning rods, and Roseanne Ross is a controversial right-wing figure in real life, several people chimed in with criticism:

“Roseanne” Season 10 continues with Episode 3, “Roseanne gets the Chair” on Tuesday, April 3 on ABC. Here’s the synopsis:

“Roseanne’s clash with Darlene over her parenting reaches a breaking point; Dan tries to help Roseanne with her bad knee by getting her an elevator chair.”

  • ‘Roseanne’ Revival Trailer Debuts During Oscars: ‘I Thought You Were Dead!’

Dan Conner: “Why does everybody always think I’m dead?”

The 2018 Oscars aired on ABC, so the network used the opportunity to promote some new trailers. One of those trailers was for the highly anticipated “Roseanne” revival, which premieres Tuesday, March 27.

OG stars Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Michael Fishman (DJ), Lecy Goranson (Becky), and Sarah Chalke are all returning — with a one-episode cameo from Johnny Galecki. (They found a clever way to include both Beckys.)

The trailer cheekily references Dan Conner’s death in the original series run, even more directly than the previous promos.

Watch the trailer: The 2018 “Roseanne” revival will launch with a special hour-long episode at 8 p.m. on March 27. The show will move into its regular half-hour 8 to 8:30 timeslot starting Tuesday, April 3.

  • Roseanne Barr Now Claims Dan Never Died at the End of ‘Roseanne’

ROSEANNE - Iconic comedy series Roseanne returns to The ABC Television Network on Tuesday, March 27, at 8 p.m. EDT, with nine new episodes featuring the complete original cast - Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman and Lecy Goranson. Sarah Chalke, who played the character Becky in later seasons, will also appear in another role. New cast joining the one-of-a-kind Conner family includes Emma Kenney as Harris Conner-Healy, Ames McNamara as Mark Conner-Healy and Jayden Rey as Mary Conner. With fresh stories that tackle todays issues and even more laughs from a brilliant cast and crew that havent missed a beat, audiences old and new will celebrate the homecoming of Americas favorite working-class family. (ABC/Adam Rose)ROSEANNE BARR, JOHN GOODMANRoseanne is still Roseanne, so that hasn’t changed.

“Roseanne” is launching its revival — we can just call it Season 10 — March 27 on ABC. The cast shared new details during the Television Critics Association winter press tour, and ABC shared a bunch of photos from the premiere. (That’s one pic above, see more below.)

During the TCAs, Roseanne Barr insisted that Dan Conner (John Goodman) didn’t actually die in the Season 9 finale/series finale, “Into That Good Night, Part 2,” even though he was said to have died of a heart attack. (One of the first promos for the revival had a little joke on Dan’s return from death.)

TVLine challenged Barr’s assertion that Dan didn’t really die, but she shot back, “I think that you should rewatch it. A lot of the reason that I did that was to add another layer of freshness for people who are going to watch the series over and over.”

In case you’ve forgotten, here’s a summary of the series finale from The Roseanne Wiki:

“In the first half, the family talks about life after winning the lottery. Then Roseanne reflects about her fictional life as a voiceover monologue reveals that the show itself has really been her writing. She says that while the book she was writing was based on her life, she changed what she didn’t like. For instance: in reality, the Conners did not win the lottery; Dan died of a heart attack; Jackie–not Bev–was gay; Mark and Darlene, and Becky and David, were the Conner-Healy couples; and DJ went to college. In the final moments, after looking over her book, she goes upstairs and sits on the couch. The show fades to black and her trademark laugh is heard one last time.”

If they didn’t show it, it didn’t happen?

In other news, Roseanne confirmed that her character will be a Donald Trump supporter, as she is in real life. Executive producer Bruce Helford said the show will address the various political views within the family “in a very honest way and a very real way.”

Sara Gilbert (Darlene Conner) added, “It was a great opportunity to have a family that can be divided by politics, but still is filled with love. And what a great thing to bring into this country right now.” It was previously revealed that Darlene’s son Mark (Ames McNamara) will be a gender nonconforming character who wears traditionally feminine clothes but does not identify as transgender or gay.

We already know that the show found a clever way to include both of the stars who played Becky during the original run…ROSEANNE - Iconic comedy series Roseanne returns to The ABC Television Network on Tuesday, March 27, at 8 p.m. EDT, with nine new episodes featuring the complete original cast - Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman and Lecy Goranson. Also, if you’re wondering about youngest child Jerry Garcia Conner, Barr said they do mention him in the first episode. “He’s on a fishing boat in Alaska… We had so many stories to tell over the arc of these nine episodes.”

  • New ‘Roseanne’ Revival Promo Has a Sly Joke About Dan’s Post-Death Return

What is dead may never die! Wait. Wrong show?

“Roseanne” is coming back to ABC starting March 27, and John Goodman is returning as Dan Conner … despite Dan dying in the original series finale. No matter. He’s now alive and well enough to yell at the TV while watching sports, as shown in a series of new promos.

One of the promos features Roseanne Conner (Roseanne Barr) seeming to address the dead elephant in the room through a sports-related joke. Dan and Becky (Lecy Goranson) are shown watching a Bulls basketball game, and Roseanne asks how it’s going. Becky says “It’s dope,” but Dan says he still thinks the Bulls of ’96 and ’97 would’ve beat these guys any day. Here’s Roseanne’s response:

“You can’t live in the past, Dan. When things are gone, they’re gone forever.”

Haha. Not true for Dan, and not true for the show.

Here are the two other new promos, including one with Sara Gilbert as Darlene:ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey previously said, of Dan returning from the dead, “I don’t want to talk too specifically, but I wouldn’t say we’ll ignore the events of the finale. Dan is definitely still alive.”

In terms of having two Beckys — one original, and then recast — the show found a clever way to include both Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke. Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman, Estelle Parsons, Sandra Bernhard, and Johnny Galecki are also returning.

The 2018 “Roseanne” revival will launch with a special hour-long episode at 8 p.m. on March 27. The show will move into its regular half-hour 8 to 8:30 timeslot starting Tuesday, April 3.

  • Here’s How the ‘Roseanne’ Revival Will Include Both Actresses Who Played Becky

ROSEANNE The “Roseanne” revival is bringing back both actresses who played Becky, but don’t worry, it will all work out.

The role was originally filled by Lecy Goranson in Seasons 1-5, but then she and Sarah Chalke took turns playing the role in later years, alternating seasons for the sitcom’s final four years. With Goranson playing Becky in the revival, though, Chalke was left without a part — at least for a while. The show’s producers didn’t want to leave her out, so they found a way to make it work.

Chalke is taking on an entirely new role, as she explained during an interview with EW. She’ll play a woman named Andrea who hires Becky to be her surrogate, causing a stir in the family. It’s a “fun part to play,” according to Chalke.

“I love the part!” she said.

Chalke was also excited about the revival in general, and she says it’s “so funny” and has “unbelievable” writing. On top of that, she finds the timing perfect.

“I think it’s exactly what is needed right now,” she said. “Right now when the country is so divided, I really think it’s a show that brings people together.”

Well, if they can figure out how to include two Beckys, maybe we can all figure out how to work out our differences, too.

“Roseanne” premieres with an hour-long episode on March 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

  • ‘Roseanne’ Revival Gets Premiere Date, New Promo

Set your DVRs: The revival of “Roseanne” premieres with a special hour-long episode on March 27, 2018, ABC announced today.

After that, the show will air in its regular time slot of 8:00-8:30 p.m., beginning Tuesday, April 3. Production on the revival’s nine episodes is slated to wrap today, ABC announced.

The network also released a short promo which promises “New episodes, same couch, same cast, same laugh,” as we hear Roseanne’s distinctive chuckle.
