Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones” fan’s list of favorite characters. Whether it’s through his actions (he treated you right, Sansa!) or his words (ya burnt, everyone!), Tyrion has secured a place in our hearts forever.
So, while we pray to The Seven (and George R.R. Martin) to spare his life for seasons to come, let’s take a look at Tyrion Lannister’s best quotes, quips, memes, and more.
Tyrion Lannister is always in some kind of trouble, but he’s “still going strong” on “Game of Thrones.” Most of the Starks and Baratheons cannot say the same. (Sansa Stark is alive, but it’s hard to argue that she’s going strong right about now.) Peter Dinklage mocked the dead guys of Westeros in a new video clip to promote Red Nose Day.
Chris Martin’s Coldplay teamed up with the “Game of Thrones” cast to produce “Game of Thrones: The Musical,” which will air as part of the televised Red Nose Day celebration this Thursday, May 21 at 8 p.m. on NBC. Red Nose Day is fundraiser for children’s charities and donations will be accepted during the live telecast, which will feature a ton of celebrities — including (via People), Will Ferrell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Jack Black, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams and more.
In this clip, Peter Dinklage sings, in part: “Remember Ned Stark? He was a lot of fun, but he didn’t make it past Season 1. Robert Baratheon was part of that crew, but he never made it to Season 2. The King of the North was cool, you said, another favorite that ended up dead. You thought that Joffrey had to survive? He ain’t in the credits for Season 5.” Haha. Some people’s parts aren’t very long, he adds later, “but not me — I’m still going strong.” And we’re glad for it! By the way, the real Tyrion would’ve made a nice jape off that “parts aren’t very long” lyric.
Check out the musical clip below, watch the special on Thursday, and don’t forget to watch GOT this Sunday to find out what happens to Tyrion. He’s not actually going that strong on Season 5 since — spoiler alert if you’re not caught up! — he and Ser Jorah Mormont just got abducted by slavers…
Peter Dinklage, aka Tyrion Lannister on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” was on “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” Tuesday night, and of course they talked about Season 5, which starts this Sunday, April 12.
Jon Stewart noted that there are a lot of book-to-screen changes this season. He asked if George R.R. Martin, who writes the book series upon which “GoT” is based, ever comes on set and says “No!” to this or that. Peter said, “He used to. He’s busy lately. He’s writing those books.” The audience laughed a bit and Peter turned to them with a shrug. “Right?” He added, “My heart goes out to poor George because, boy oh boy, they’re hard on him, the fans. I mean, it’s lovely because they want those books, but they gotta ease up.” Jon and Peter discussed the difficulty of writing such a long, complex series. Fans do understand why it’s taking so long, but it’s still hard to wait.
GRRM said he would be skipping several upcoming events, including San Diego Comic-Con, to focus on other commitments — like finishing the next book, “The Winds of Winter.” Watch Peter’s full “Daily Show” clip to see a glimpse of the Season 5 premiere, and hear more of his interesting fan experiences.
Remember when time capsules were all the rage? The ’80s were weird! In “Pixels,” some geniuses decided to drop their favorite arcade games into a time capsule that was launched into space. Unfortunately, the aliens that encountered the capsule misinterpreted things and assumed this was just the beginning of an intergalactic war. So, they turned Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and other beloved characters into giant weapons that attack and pixelate whatever comes across their path.
Who’re you gonna call? Well, if you’re the President, you give your old crew from the arcade a call to help fight the baddies. Kevin James plays the prez, and Adam Sandler co-stars as his best friend and ace gamer. They recruit their old arcade enemies, played by Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage, and enlist a weapons expert played by Michelle Monaghan to help them save the world from Pac-Man’s bottomless hunger.
