  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Casts Tiger Lily as Captain Hook Adversary

Tiger Lily won’t be a wilting flower on “Once Upon a Time.”

The fairy tale drama has cast Native American actress Sara Tomko to play the “Peter Pan” character for at least two episodes, Entertainment Weekly reports.

In the “Peter Pan” tales, Tiger Lily is part of the Piccaninny tribe living in Neverland. She falls for Peter and gets kidnapped by Captain Hook. In “OUAT,” she’ll come back into Hook’s (Colin O’Donoghue) orbit and perhaps cause trouble for the pirate.

“As Captain Hook continues on his path to redemption, his dark past is never far away,” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis told EW. “He’s left a long line of adversaries and Tiger Lily is the latest to return and complicate his efforts to leave that past behind.”

“Once Upon a Time” returns with new episodes Sunday, March 5.

  • Ariel Is Returning to ‘Once Upon a Time’ to Team With Princess Jasmine

once upon a time, ariel, the little mermaid, joanna garcia, princess jasmineA beloved Disney princess is returning to ABC’s fairy tale series “Once Upon a Time,” with JoAnna Garcia Swisher set to reprise her role as Ariel.

Entertainment Weekly has the scoop that Garcia Swisher will be back for the first time in two seasons, and this time around, she’ll get to team up with another iconic Disney princess. Here’s the breakdown of her return, per EW:

An ally of Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin), the titular character from The Little Mermaid was last seen helping Ursula (Merrin Dungey) get her happy ending by reuniting the sea witch with her father, Poseidon (Ernie Hudson), in season 4.

However, when Ariel pops back up for at least one episode, she’ll be interacting with some very different characters. “Ariel returns and meets Princess Jasmine [Karen David] as they join Hook [Colin O’Donoghue] on an adventure as he and Emma [Jennifer Morrison] face a daunting challenge that requires a big time princess team-up,” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis tell EW.

Garcia Swisher was especially excited about the prospect of working alongside David/Jasmine, writing on Twitter that she was in “princess heaven.” David responded in kind, sending love to Garcia Swisher and using the hashtag #GirlPower to express her excitement about the upcoming storyline.

As EW’s report noted, Garcia Swisher will be back “for at least one episode,” so it’s likely she could be sticking around for a lot longer than that. “Once Upon a Time” fans will find out for themselves when the show returns from its winter hiatus sometime in March.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’: The Evil Queen Doesn’t Forgive and More Season 6 Hints

ABC's "Once Upon a Time" - Season SixIf you were expecting life in Storybrooke to be more peaceful come “Once Upon a Time” Season 6, the first few episodes should have quickly quashed that notion.

The latest season of the fairy tale series has already brought twists and turns, and we expect many more to come. “Once Upon a Time” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis recently opened up to Entertainment Weekly about the drama in store, and let’s just say trouble is looming.

*Be warned: There are spoilers ahead.*

Now that it’s clear that Storybrooke’s residents still have to contend with the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), fans are wondering just what that means for her other side, Regina. When asked if Regina’s failure to kill her means the Evil Queen is immortal, Horowitz and Kitsis offered a complicated answer; instead of giving a yes or no, they shared that the issue will come up.

“We will explore the various reasons for mortality, or lack of mortality, for both the Evil Queen and Regina,” Horowitz told EW.

Whether or not she’s immortal, the Evil Queen is definitely angry.

“One thing I will say about the Evil Queen — and she, I think, is going to say this — is one thing she doesn’t have is forgiveness,” Kitsis said. “She doesn’t forgive, so she’s not just upset about [Daniel’s death], she’s upset about everything.”

That anger may make her scarier than ever. Her plotting this season has already been diabolical, like encouraging Zelena (Rebecca Mader) to go after her half-sister. Regina will have to deal with whatever threat they pose while grieving her lost love. And sadly, there could be more death to come.

“It’s always a possibility,” Kitsis told EW. “Every season there’s death. People die. Emma’s fated to die. That’s part of the show.”

The tale continues Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Is Bringing Back Robin Hood

Once Upon a TimeMagic can fix anything on “Once Upon a Time” — perhaps even death! The fairy tale drama is bringing back a fan favorite character who perished last season.

Sean Maguire will reprise his role as Robin Hood in multiple episodes of season 6, creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

“We’re thrilled to have Sean back for this story arc and are excited for the audience to see what we have planned, which in the wake of his character’s heartbreaking demise, is something we hope is unexpected and surprising.”

Very unexpected, since Robin tragically died saving his true love, Regina (Lana Parrilla), from the blast of an Olympian crystal wielded by Hades. Hades had said that death by crystal meant no afterlife or Underworld, but in last week’s premiere, Regina’s son Henry (Jared S. Gilmore) gave her hope by suggesting Hades had lied.

It’s unclear if Robin’s appearance on the show will be a flashback, or some kind of vision. Regina and the heroes won’t be rescuing him from the Underworld, though, as Kitsis said, “We’re not going to the Underworld this year, so I can tell you that a lot of this year is about Regina dealing with loss and moving on, because I think Regina has the most unfair luck of anybody, but that’s what makes her Regina.”

  • ‘Once Upon a Time’ Teases ‘Exciting’ Format Change for Season 6

Instead of crushing hearts, “Once Upon a Time” is hoping to win a few back in Season 6.

Once upon a time, the ABC show decided to split its season into two distinct storylines — like Dark Swan and the Underworld with Hades in Season 5. But showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kisis just revealed to Entertainment Weekly that they are going back to basics for the 2016-2017 season, which premieres this fall.

Kitsis: “This season is going to be different from past because it’s not going to be Hyde comes to town, we fight with him for 10 episodes, and then in the winter finale, he dies and we move on. We are changing around what we’re doing this year and going back to that Season 1 mentality of small town stories and smaller arcs.”

Horowitz: “We’re also planning a 22-episode story as opposed to breaking it up into two halves this year. It’s been really exciting and fun.”

That is good to hear, especially since they emphasized that Season 6 would allow them to turn “inward” on a lot of the characters we’ve been following for five seasons. Core OUAT fans have been loyal to the show since Season 1, but overall viewers have been dropping steadily — from around 11 million in the first season, down to 10, then 9, 8, and an average of just over 6 million total viewers for Season 5.

Anything that suggests going Old School, with more time spent with our OGs in Storybrooke, is probably the right way to go, and most of the early reactions to this format “change” have been cautiously optimistic.

Are you looking forward to a full-season story, with smaller arcs, or do you worry that it might mean 22 episodes of a storyline you don’t want to follow?
