“Godzilla: King of the Monsters” is ready for clear eyes, full hearts, and plenty of Eggos.
According to Variety, “Friday Night Lights” alum “Bloodline” star Kyle Chandler will play the father of “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown in the “Godzilla” sequel, which is scheduled for release March 22, 2019.
“Godzilla: King of the Monsters” is the follow-up to Gareth Edwards’s 2014 film “Godzilla,” starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, and Ken Watanabe. Watanabe is reportedly the only star likely to return for “Godzilla 2.” Michael Dougherty (“Krampus”) is directing from a script he co-wrote with Zach Shields. According to Dread Central, filming will begin in Atlanta starting June 19, but stay tuned for official details.
As Variety noted, it was announced in October 2015 that all future “King Kong” and “Godzilla” films would be developed by Legendary and distributed by Warner Bros., starting with “Kong: Skull Island,” which opens March 10. After “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” is released in March 2019, fans can expect “Godzilla vs. Kong” to arrive May 29, 2020.
It’s hard to find a TV character more beloved than Eleven (Stranger Things.”
Even though she’s been through some very crazy “WTF” scenarios, she’s still relatable in her own special way. Here are nine times Eleven gave us life and became one of our favorite fictional spirit animals.
The five young stars of Netflix’s smash hit “Stranger Things” are on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly in a story promising “Your First Look at Season 2.” Fans can probably expect more photos and details to leak in the days before the magazine hits newsstands. For now, we have this cover, and a cute little video with the stars.
It’s a bit hard to read, but you shouldn’t miss this cover quote from co-creator Matt Duffer: “I want people to know that Eleven is back and she’s a major part of the season.” Good to hear! Season 1 ended on an unsure note for Eleven, but we knew she would be back in Season 2 — presumably still hankering for more Eggos.
Here’s the cover, featuring Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Noah Schnapp (Will), and — front and center — Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven).
It’s good to see Will Byers back in the mix, since he was gone for most of Season 1, but we know his problems are not over, even with Season 2 picking up in 1984, about a year after everything happened.
“Stranger Things” Season 2 shared its first teaser during the Super Bowl this past weekend, revealing a Halloween premiere date.
Netflix just shared visual proof of the focus of “Stranger Things” Season 2.
The cast and crew just gathered for the first table read for the new season, which will stream in 2017. It was already revealed that Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven would be returning, but it was further confirmed by her inclusion in the table read, and in a new tweet from the El actress herself:
Yep, we’re literally in the Upside Down already! Prepare to spend a lot of time there.
If you flip the photo (see Netflix/EW image below), you can better see that the table read includes, from left: Sadie Sink (new character Max), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Noah Schnapp (Will), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Joe Keery (Steve), and Dacre Montgomery (Billy, Max’s stepbrother).Season 2 will see the addition of a “tough and confident girl” named Max, who has a complicated history and a “hyper-confident and edgy older stepbrother” named Billy. Matt and Ross Duffer said Season 2 will be “darker” than Season 1 with “a bigger mythology behind what happened.”
Matt further teased, via EW, “We hint at where we might go at the end of the season. Will was living in this Upside Down, this other dimension, for about a week, so the repercussions of that can’t be good. [The] inter-dimensional rift is still very much open, so that also can’t be good.”
That’s a lot of “can’t be good” but it’s already looking good to see the cast back at work (albeit without Winona Ryder or David Harbour… maybe they are just outside the frame?). We’re ready for more Eggos, so bring ’em on!
That sweet “Stranger Things” was Millie Bobby Brown‘s first kiss. And it was awkward. In a new Interview magazine chat, Millie, 12, talked about that first kiss, plus the best advice she has received to date (which came from David Schwimmer, believe it or not).
Apparently Millie and “Dance Moms” star Maddie Ziegler, 14, are BFFs, so Maddie was the one who interviewed Millie in the Q&A. The result was an informal, realistic talk between middle-school-age girls who just happen to be pretty famous.
Millie and Finn were both recently on “The Tonight Show” where they discussed the kiss…
… and Maddie slyly referenced her friend’s reaction in the Interview Q&A:
ZIEGLER: …It was really cute. Oh, what was I gonna say? We were talking about “Stranger Things” being your favorite show because you get to kiss Finn.
BROWN: You’re an evil, evil person. You know that? Are you aware of that, Maddie? Yeah, I did have to kiss Finn. At the end of the day, it’s only acting, and it’s something you have to do, and I would do anything for the show. I cut my hair, I kissed Finn. It was definitely strange. It was, like, my first kiss, so it was kind of weird. But then, like, when I’d done it, I thought, “Wow. It makes sense for the storyline.”
ZIEGLER: It was priceless, like, your reactions. You were like, “Kissing sucks.” And then Finn …
BROWN: Finn reacted quite well and I didn’t. [laughs] I felt really bad afterwards.
ZIEGLER: It was funny because, obviously, boys are attracted to you. Pretty cool.
BROWN: It’s in a strange way. I don’t know if they’re like in love with the character. Like, [they want to brag] “I know the real character, guys.”
ZIEGLER: But you’ve become super close with your cast mates. It’s crazy—you were telling me that you’re literally the only girl, besides Winona [Ryder].
BROWN: I am the only girl, and the boys have their squads. They have their group, and it’s definitely difficult because they’re boys and talk about boy stuff. They talk about girls and video games. I definitely need to talk about normal things a girl would talk about. They’re like my big brothers. They annoy me, but we are very, very close…
Haha. Yes, you keep those boys at a distance.
Millie and her “Stranger Things” co-stars performed at the 2016 Emmys, where David Schwimmer was there with the “People vs. O.J. Simpson” team, and apparently the “Friends” star offered Millie some sage advice.
Here’s that part of the Interview magazine Q&A:
ZIEGLER: I’m curious, what’s the best advice you’ve gotten, and who was it from?
BROWN: I think David Schwimmer honestly, because a lot of people say to me, “Stay grounded, be humble.” I get that a lot, and I’m sure you get that a lot, Maddie. David Schwimmer was just like, “You need to love what you do.” And I think that’s really nice. Just love your work. My family has given me great advice saying, you know, “Don’t work too hard.” And it’s really nice to have someone like that—you know that they love you. It’s nice to have famous people love you.
She said she can’t wait to get back to work on “Stranger Things” Season 2. “It’s like I crave it, and when I get on set—it’s not just that I love what I do—I love meeting new people. The crew, it’s like being around my family, and I know them very well. It’s really nice to go to work every day. It makes so much sense to just love what you do and go to work every day to get to get to work.” Just don’t feel like you have to work when you’re only 12.
Netflix’s “Stranger Things” made stars out of its young cast members, and the standout is Millie Bobby Brown, who played the mysterious superpowers-wielding, buzzcut-wearing Eleven.
The Duffer brothers, who created the ’80s-set drama, wrote in Entertainment Weekly that Brown first balked at getting her head shaved, until they showed her a photograph of Charlize Theron as badass Furiosa in “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
Then, “When the day of the haircut finally arrived, Millie’s mom brought out a camcorder, while her dad ran away with tears in his eyes, unable to watch. It was a pretty dramatic scene. But also very quick. Within 10 minutes we had shaved it all off and slapped a fake ’11’ tattoo on Millie’s wrist. Millie looked at herself in the mirror, gave her best Furiosa scream — and Eleven was born.”
Here’s that video taken by Brown’s father. It is very appropriately set to Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts”:
