Sometimes “just being Miley” has unexpected consequences.

With Miley Cyrus in the midst of a divorce from her husband of eight months, Liam Hemsworth, the actress-slash-singer decided to open up on Twitter Thursday about the split, revealing some interesting information about her career in the process. While the main purpose of her tweets was to deny cheating on Hemsworth, she also shared why she was fired from “Hotel Transylvania” in 2012. Cyrus had been set to play Mavis — a role that eventually went to Selena Gomez — and would have done so had it not been for a certain phallic cake, she says.

“I got kicked off hotel [sic] Transylvania for buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it,” Cyrus wrote in one of her tweets.

Sony hasn’t confirmed the news, but a source told THR that the photos did cause studio heavy-hitters to reconsider putting Cyrus in the role. A child star, she had led the Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana” from 2006 to 2011. From there, her image started to become much less family-friendly. Cyrus herself admitted in her tweets that she “was into partying” in her teens and early 20s and caused her fair share of scandals.

For all that she raised eyebrows in the past, though, Cyrus wrote that she has “learned from every experience” in her life and that she’s grown up along the way.

“I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where i [sic] was when I was a younger,” Cyrus added.

And even without “Hotel Transylvania,” the entertainer has continued to do well for herself. Cyrus has released multiple albums since her 2012 firing, and her latest, “She Is Miley Cyrus,” is on the way. Additionally, Cyrus has been a judge on “The Voice,” starred in the miniseries “Crisis in Six Scenes,” had a guest role in “Black Mirror,” and more.

Cyrus is both a Grammy and a Golden Globe Award nominee, so she can have her cake and lick it too.

  • Miley Cyrus Performed as ‘Black Mirror’ Character Ashley O at Glastonbury Festival

    Netflix

Ashley O just keeps coming back.

Miley Cyrus surprised fans at the Glastonbury Festival in  England over the weekend by taking the stage as her “Black Mirror” character. The singer-actress played the pop star in the Series 5 episode “Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too,” and then released a music video she’d filmed for the show. This time, Ashley O made her triumphant return live as Cyrus performed “On a Roll” in the character’s recognizable lavender wig.

BBC Radio 1 shared a clip via Twitter after the fact and highlighted what a fun surprise it was:

Surprise or not, the stunt was fitting. Cyrus’s big break was on the Disney Channel TV series “Hannah Montana,” and she regularly performed as her TV character. By now, she must be used to alter egos and wigs.

The singer had even more in store for Glastonbury attendees. She also brought out her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Lil Nas X to perform “Old Town Road,” as EW reports. What a day for everyone — including Ashley O.

‘Charlie’s Angels’: Miley Cyrus Teases Soundtrack Collab With Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey

    NBC

The anticipation for the first trailer for the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” reboot just got that much higher.

Miley Cyrus teased in a tweet Wednesday that she teamed up with Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey for the movie’s soundtrack. The former “Voice” judge reposted a 14-second video that Sony had unveiled Wednesday to preview the trailer’s release on Thursday, and she wrote, “WE ARE COMING!,” and tagged Grande and Del Rey.

The video indicates that the trailer is “uploading” and shows the franchise’s logo. It notably also includes a snippet of what is presumably the trio’s collaboration. You can’t hear any of their voices on the track, but it sounds promising nonetheless.

Grande got in on the fun with a tweet, too, but she didn’t share as much as Cyrus did. The pop star simply uploaded the video and wrote, “trailer tomorrow,” tagging the “Charlie’s Angels” Twitter account and adding an angel emoji. Del Rey, on the other hand, hasn’t posted the video at the time of this writing.

There’s a lot to look forward to with “Charlie’s Angels.” It’s directed by Elizabeth Banks (“Pitch Perfect”) and stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, Banks, Djimon Hounsou, and Noah Centineo, among others. The reboot is due out Nov. 15.

“Black Mirror” pop star Ashley O is back.

Netflix had a surprise in store for fans after Miley Cyrus guest starred in the Series 5: a full music video starring her pop star character, Ashley O. The episode, “Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too,” features Cyrus as a singer who is unhappy with her image and secretly writes darker music. Her music video is for the song “On a Roll,” a catchy, upbeat pop tune in line with Ashley O’s public persona.

“On a Roll” was briefly a part of Cyrus’s episode, and the video can be now seen in its full glory. Cyrus performs entirely in character, as you’ll see below.

Word of Cyrus’s guest role in “Black Mirror” Season 5 came at the end of last year, prompting the singer-slash-actress to confirm it (but also not) in December. As we know now, she definitely appeared on the show, even traveling to South Africa for the gig.

“Black Mirror” Series 5 premiered earlier in June, so it’s finally all out there, music video included.

    NBC

The contestants of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 11 aren’t the only ones in costume in a new clip. The promo teases Miley Cyrus‘s stint as a guest judge with footage of her disguised as a member of the crew. Her “So Undercover” character would be proud.

Cyrus’s new look gets allows her to go unnoticed among the contestants while they get ready, but she actually ends up spending most of the promo behind a two-way mirror. It’s apparently not something Cyrus has seen before, based on how many times she asks some variation of, “Can they really not see me?” Watch below.

The actress-slash-singer is one of multiple guest judges that will be involved in Season 11. Others include Cara Delevingne, Kandi Burruss, Joel McHale, Lena Waithe, and Adam Rippon. Cyrus has served as a reality TV judge in the past, namely on NBC’s “The Voice.”

    RuPaul‘s Drag Race” Season 11 premieres Thursday, Feb. 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on VH1.

Miley Cyrus Sort of Confirmed She’ll Guest Star in ‘Black Mirror’ Season 5

    Miley Cyrus on The Voice
    NBC

“Black Mirror” is full of mystery, and so is potential guest star Miley Cyrus.

The singer-slash-actress recently addressed the recent rumors that she has a guest spot in the fifth season of the Netflix sci-fi series, and she wasn’t exactly straightforward in her answer. As guest on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” on Wednesday, Dec. 12, she both confirmed and denied that she confirmed her involvement, per THR.

Cryus’s older sister, Brandi, mentioned the “Black Mirror” gig in a podcast episode Tuesday, as EW reports. She was talking about how they’d both traveled to South Africa and said that Cyrus was there for a role. When talking to Stern, the “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” singer did open up about the work that she did, but she was reluctant to outright confirm it because she wasn’t sure if she was allowed to.

“If you guess it, then I will shake my head ‘yes,’ or ‘no,’” Cyrus told Stern, per THR.

She did indeed nod her head yes, according to Stern, but Cyrus pointed out that she hadn’t said the show’s name. Still, she revealed that her character has “lot of different sides,” which definitely sounds about right for “Black Mirror.” She added that she left “feeling really proud” of her work, which she noted was unusual.

The actress, who gained fame as a preteen on the Disney Channel TV series “Hannah Montana” and has done a variety of films since, has been more focused on music than acting in recent years. Her most recent major acting role on a TV show was in the 2016 Amazon Studios miniseries “Crisis in Six Scenes.” She has, however, been a judge on NBC’s reality singing competition show “The Voice” in recent years.

Netflix declined to comment on Cyrus’s guest role, but we expect to learn more about it in the coming months.

  • Jason Momoa, Matt Damon to Host ‘SNL’ in December

Jason Momoa, Matt Damon to Host ‘SNL’ in December

    Warner Bros. Pictures

“Saturday Night Live” has revealed its final two hosts for 2018, with a superhero and a superstar set to take the stage.

The show announced on its official Twitter page that Jason Momoa and Matt Damon would be hosting in December, following the previously announced Claire Foy on December 1.

Momoa will be making his “SNL” hosting debut on December 8, alongside musical guests Mumford & Sons. He’ll no doubt be promoting his forthcoming feature “Aquaman,” a little DCEU movie that we may have mentioned here once or twice. Perhaps you’ve heard of it?

Damon, meanwhile, played Supreme Court nominee (and eventual justice) Brett Kavanaugh in the season 44 premiere episode, in a hilarious cold open that parodied Kavanaugh’s erratic Senate confirmation hearing. It doesn’t appear as if Damon has any specific project to promote with his hosting gig on December 15, though we wouldn’t mind a return of his Kavanaugh impression. And as the last emcee of the year, we expect Damon to provide plenty of holiday cheer.

The musical guests for Damon’s episode are Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus, who have both appeared on “SNL” numerous times before. We wouldn’t be surprised to see them be featured in a sketch or two themselves during the episode.

  • Jimmy Fallon’s Mother Died a Day After He Canceled ‘Tonight Show’ Taping to Be With Her

“The Tonight Show” will remain canceled all week as Jimmy Fallon mourns his mom, Gloria.

Fallon, 43, had canceled the Friday show due to “a private Fallon family matter” that turned out to be his mother Gloria’s illness. She died Saturday at age 68.

Fallon’s rep shared a statement with outlets:

“Jimmy Fallon’s mother, Gloria, died peacefully on Saturday. Jimmy was at his mother’s bedside, along with her loved ones, when she passed away at NYU Langone Medical Center in NYC. Our prayers go out to Jimmy and his family as they go through this tough time.”

The network also shared a statement:

“On behalf of everyone at NBC, we extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy and all his family at this time of enormous loss. Our hearts go out to Jimmy and everyone else whose lives were so touched by Gloria Fallon’s love, kindness and support.”

“The Tonight Show” will air repeats through Friday, Nov. 10. Previously announced guests for this week had included Adam Levine, Sam Rockwell, Will Ferrell, Sam Smith, Mark Wahlberg, Gina Rodriguez, Ice-T, and Tiffany Haddish.

Miley Cyrus recently had a one-week residency on “The Tonight Show” and reached out with condolences to Fallon:

Rest in peace and love, Mama Fallon.

  • ‘Saturday Night Live’ Host Larry David Blows Off Miley Cyrus in New Promo

Larry David can be pretty rude. Prettyyyyy, prettyyyy, prettyyyyy rude.

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star is hosting “Saturday Night Live” this week, November 4, with Miley Cyrus as musical guest. Since Miley has hosted herself, we can probably expect her to be in at least one sketch, the way she costars in the new SNL promo with Larry.

The clip is vintage Larry David. He runs into Miley on the way to the SNL studio, and refuses to ride in the same elevator with her because he prefers to ride alone.

Larry: “I like a private ride.”

    Miley: “Whatever, Larry.”

Larry: “Who gets an elevator all to themselves? It’s a fantastic thing.”

    Miley: “‘Private ride?’”

    This should be good.

SNL later shared another series of promos, with Larry, Miley, and cast member Beck Bennett:Larry David has made several appearances on SNL in the past couple of years, thanks to his spot-on Bernie Sanders impression, but he’s only hosted once before, in February 2016.

Fun fact, Larry David also had a cameo on Miley Cyrus’ Disney show, “Hannah Montana”: “Saturday Night Live” airs Saturdays at 11:29 p.m. on NBC.
