  • Jon Snow Is Dead, You’ll Be ‘Disappointed’ If You Think He’s Alive (Says Maisie)

Nothing ever stays dead on “Game of Thrones,” and that includes the debate about Jon Snow’s status. Did he die at the end of Season 5? Will he be alive in Season 6, which premieres next spring? The Powers That Be have insisted Jon did die and is dead, but then interviews and set sightings and stuff come up that makes it seem like Kit Harington will live to fight another day.

Now one of his co-stars is weighing in — and she didn’t just give a casual comment, she was definitive about the fate of Jon Snow. He’s dead.

Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) called into “The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show” in the U.K., and mentioned that she’s in the middle of shooting at the moment. Season 6 actually started filming in July, and Maisie said she’s “aware of the other storylines” happening around her as “We’re given the full script at the beginning of the season.” So she knows what happens not only to Arya — who is now blind, leaving Maisie’s own eyes in pain from contact lenses — but to everyone else.

The radio host asked if she finds that, everywhere she goes, people ask if Jon Snow is alive? She answered, “All the time. People are constantly asking me, and the answer is no. I’m very sorry.” But she laughed, so… The host returned to the Jon Snow question several times, at one point saying that Maisie knew the fate of Jon Snow. She said, “Yeah, he’s dead.” He immediately said, “[Jon] is not dead!” and called her a liar. Maisie responded, “I’m not a liar! I’m very sorry. I would know, of all people, after all. I’m the one that has the script.” Later, the host asked her to tap the phone twice if Jon Snow is alive. “I ain’t doing nothing,” she said.

At the end of the talk, the host said he was looking forward to seeing her and Jon Snow back in action in the new season. Maisie laughed and said, “I think you’re going to be a little bit disappointed.”

Hmm. A little bit disappointed? Our theory is that Jon Snow did die, but he won’t stay dead for long. Will we be disappointed or is she just trying to troll us off the scent?

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Will Feature a ‘Vicious,’ ‘Thuggish’ Fight

Winter is coming and, after that, “Game of Thrones” Season 6 will be showing up in the spring. No one battles like GoT and it sounds like at least one doozy of a fight is headed our way in 2016.

Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) recently talked to The Sunday Times and dropped a little hint about a Season 6 scene she had been shooting in Northern Ireland. Here’s a portion of the story, via Gwendoline-Christie.com:

I’ve been fighting for three whole days, three entire days without ceasing or desisting. Really vicious, vicious, up-close, thuggish fighting.” Who with? “I can’t tell you. I could, but I’d have to maim you.” Who won? “Again, it would be the last thing you ever knew.”

Nice. Three days of shooting a vicious, up-close fight. Brienne was just seen killing (we think) Stannis Baratheon. Who is she fighting this time? Well, we don’t know, but some hints were recently revealed via Watchers on the Wall.

*MAJOR FILMING SPOILERS AHEAD. RUN AWAY IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS!*

Still here? Watchers on the Wall has been sharing daily spoiler updates from set, including one on September 10 about a massive battle being filmed in Northern Ireland. They thought it was for Episode 9, traditionally an action-heavy episode. In this case, the battle apparently includes Northern armies, featuring the Umbers, the Boltons, wildlings and — dun dun dun — Jon Snow! Yes, Kit Harington — who recently dropped hints that he was returning — was seen on location, along with Iwan Rheon, who plays Ramsay Snow Bolton.

Now add Gwendoline talking about Brienne being in a fight scene. All together, it has fans wondering if Brienne is part of this massive battle in the north. Maybe Brienne and Jon Snow fight Ramsay together. Who will have the honor of Ned Stark-ing Roose Bolton’s son? If Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy aren’t there to do it … our vote goes to “Fat Walda” Frey Bolton. But Jon will do too. He can send Sansa’s regards.

  • Watch Katniss Fight Jon Snow in Genius ‘The Hunger Game of Thrones’ Trailer

    You know nothing, President Snow!

It was only a matter of time before the Internet produced a soul brave, funny, and skilled enough to combine the two Snows of “Game of Thrones” — and that time is now. Enter David Elmaleh, whose spoof trailer “The Hunger Game of Thrones: Jon Snow Must Die” is the best thing you’ll see this week.

It’s perfect. It fits so well, you’d think “Hunger Games” writer Suzanne Collins and “Game of Thrones” series author George R.R. Martin planned for this mashup the entire time. In the 1-minute, 22-second trailer, the synopsis teases, “Katniss Everdeen faces off against President Snow…Jon Snow.” We hear Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss whisper, “Nothing good is safe while Snow’s alive” while Kit Harington’s HBO Snow is shown in his icy terrain. The battle and speech shots really do seem to belong together, and it was a brilliant touch to include Gwendoline Christie, who stars in both “Game of Thrones” and “The Hunger Games.”

    Here it is:

Genius. Where is this movie in real life? We need it. The only flaw is that it maligns poor Jon Snow, who doesn’t deserve all the attacks he’s already getting on his own show. If only Ygritte were still alive to stand up for Jon — but Katniss killed her in bow vs. bow combat. Damn you, Everdeen, have you no heart?!

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6: Jon Snow Actor Returns to Filming Location

Never mind “Game of Thrones” Season 6 starts filming this week, and Kit — who is being stalked for Jon Snow spoilers, bless him — was once again spotted on a flight to Belfast, Northern Ireland, a key location for GoT production. One of the site’s readers, who was on the flight from London to Belfast, spotted both Kit and Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H’ghar).

It would be one thing if this was the only time Kit was seen. Then maybe you could argue that he was returning to film a dead body scene, ala Charles Dance for Tywin Lannister. But, as they noted, he’s had a few visits to Belfast in the past couple of months for pre-production.

So the running Jon Snow theory still seems to be that he’ll be brought back from the dead by Melisandre, who is now at The Wall. She sees something in him and … well, you know. His story needs to go on. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle it, though, assuming it’s right. He can’t very well go back to being Lord Commander, so once he’s … undead … what will he do?

In related-ish news, Irish actor Eddie Jackson is said to have booked a mystery role on GoT, heading to Belfast this week and Spain in October. If you’re sick of the Jon Snow rumors/sightings, maybe new Season 6 casting intel and speculation (Iron Islands? Rickon? Flashbacks?) is more interesting.

  • Kit Harington Joins ‘Game of Thrones’ Co-Star in New Movie, Replacing Robert Pattinson

Full potential spoiler disclosure: We do not believe Jon Snow’s watch has ended on “Game of Thrones” but he did get stabbed in the Season 5 finale, so we’re rolling with his official death announcement for the moment. But Melisandre better revive him. Speaking of Jon and Mel, though, GoT co-stars Kit Harington (Jon) and Carice van Houten (Melisandre) will reunite in the new movie “Brimstone.” Kit was just announced as joining the cast of Martin Koolhoven’s movie, which also stars Dakota Fanning and Guy Pearce.
According to Deadline, Dakota stars as Liz, who is on the run from Guy’s diabolical Preacher. Principle production has already begun and it’s shooting on location in Romania, Spain and Germany. E! said Kit will play an outlaw, replacing Robert Pattinson in the role, with Dakota replacing Mia Wasikowska.

No word yet on when that will be released, but you may have noticed that Kit also shot a hilarious-looking tennis mockumentary called “7 Days in Hell.” That co-stars Andy Samberg and it’ll debut on HBO on July 11. Here’s that trailer:

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6: Jon Snow Is Really Dead, But Will He STAY Dead?

Warning: Spoilers ahead from the “Game of Thrones” Season 5 finale and “A Song of Ice and Fire” books.

UPDATE: The Season 6 premiere has been given the title “The Red Woman,” with “Jon Snow is dead” right in HBO’s synopsis. It sounds like Melisandre is going to revive him, no? Or is the title in reference to someone else and we are being misled?

The Powers That Be are trying to drive it home that Jon Snow is really dead after that Season 5 finale end scene. Kit Harington and one of the showrunners, David Weiss, told Entertainment Weekly in separate interviews that (David’s words) “Dead is dead” and (Kit’s words) “I’ve been told I’m dead. I’m dead. I’m not coming back next season. So that’s all I can tell you, really.” David added, “We would hope that after seeing the scene and the way it’s shot that the answer to that will be unambiguous in the minds of the people watching it. It should be pretty clear what happens in by the time you’re done seeing that scene. It’s not an, ‘Oh what just happened scene?’”

And yet it definitely is a ‘what just happened?’ scene — or at least a ‘what might happen next?’ scene. Author George R.R. Martin wrote a version of that scene toward the end of “A Dance with Dragons,” the most recently published book (which was still years ago), and he previously told Entertainment Weekly of Jon Snow, “Oh, you think he’s dead, do you? My readers should know better than to take anything as gospel.” He later added, “If there’s one thing we know in A Song of Ice and Fire is that death is not necessarily permanent.”
If Jon is indeed revived — and does anyone really think he’ll stay dead, even with the TV show changing so many elements of the book? — will he have different recoveries on TV than in the next book, “The Winds of Winter”? In “Dance with Dragons,” Jon called out to Ghost as he was dying, as if he might warg into Ghost. On TV, we didn’t see or hear about Ghost, but Melisandre just returned to The Wall, and they’ve made it very clear that she sees something special about Jon. She may know what Jon doesn’t know, and that fans only suspect at this point, that he might have some king’s blood in him as well. He has a major part to play in the war to come.

What if Mel does what Thoros of Myr did for Beric Dondarrion and brings Jon back from the dead? That seems to be the running theory at this point, especially since there’s really nothing else for Melisandre to be doing, and there had to be a reason for all that Mel/Jon foreshadowing. Plus, Melisandre met with the Brotherhood Without Banners back in Season 3, and picked up some revival tips from Thoros. And Jon still needs to learn about his parents. He needs to meet Dany Targaryen. He needs to be one of the three heads of the dragon. It is known. Or suspected, anyway.

We’ll have to wait for the next book, “The Winds of Winter,” and next year’s “Game of Thrones” Season 6 for answers on how both the book and TV show tackle Jon Snow’s fate.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’: Lonely Jon Snow Hits ‘Lowest Place’ in Season 5

Poor Jon Snow. He’s constantly told he knows nothing, and even though he was just elected Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch in “Game of Thrones” Season 5, he literally won by one vote and was immediately defied in his first executive order. Yeah, Melisandre seems into him (he does know how to attract aggressive gingers), but it’s lonely at the top. Jon Snow’s dream was to be Jon Stark, then maybe First Ranger like his uncle Benjen, not Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, separating him from his friends even as more enemies approach.

Kit Harington discussed Jon’s journey in a new interview with The Daily Beast, and shared a sad and rather frightening tease about Jon’s Season 5 future:

Where he is this season is he’s acutely aware of imminent danger – which is all around him. He’s not wrapped up too much in trying to get over Ygritte, but at the same time he’s in a place of severe loneliness. As he climbs the rungs of becoming a commander and leading other men, he starts to realize how isolated it makes him, and there’s a point at the end of the season where we see that very clearly. It’s the lowest place he’s ever been, and that’s going to push him to do quite extreme things in the future.”

All together now: “Awwww.” What extreme action will he take and what will be his lowest point? Book readers may think they have an idea, but we’ve seen so far this season that when it comes to predicting how The Powers That Be will change the storylines, well, we know nothing.

  • Here’s an ‘Epic’ Spoiler for ‘Game of Thrones’ Fans Bored With ‘Slow’ Season 5

Bored with “Game of Thrones” Season 5’s first two episodes? You know nothing! For the record, we’re loving Season 5 so far, but we’ve noticed the comments out there from fans impatient for a little less conversation and a little more action.

One of those fans wrote to E! News, complaining that GoT has “been slow” in the first two episodes, asking if the action is going to pick up soon. E! asked Kit Harington (Jon Snow) for an action answer, and he told them, “There is one really big battle coming up. There is one really epic battle. There’s some other good fights and some good action, too, towards the end of the season. It’s definitely one to watch.”

Try not to focus on that “towards the end of the season” part, since that’s not the only time when there will be blood. But it’s a good note to keep in mind and pass along to any action-thirsty friends. Will Jon Snow be part of that “epic battle”? Go ahead and re-watch Season 5’s trailer below if you want more hints to the big action ahead. There is a certain scene where Jon (now Lord Commander Snow) shouts “With me!” so … that’s a yes on Jon being part of a battle.

  • Best of Late Night TV: Jon Snow Knows Nothing at Seth’s NYC Dinner Party, Charades With Kat Dennings (VIDEO)

If you’re like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered. Here’s the best of what happened last night on late night.

How would Jon Snow behave at a dinner party? Watch and see. “Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington was on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” Monday night, so Seth set up an SNL-style sketch called “Seth brings Jon Snow to a dinner party.” In the 5-minute video, you see Seth with his NYC friends, then Jon in full Night’s Watch attire. Turns out, he knows nothing about being a good dinner party guest. Or maybe it’s everyone else who has it wrong. After all, winter is always coming. Eventually. If only Seth had invited Debbie Downer, she and Jon would really hit it off. Stay to the end, it’s really hilarious.

Kit also talked, as himself, about GoT. He said he only read his own scenes for the new season. He usually reads the whole script but this time he wants to see what the hype is about. Kat Dennings, Michael Douglas, and Jon Cryer played charades with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.” Jimmy and Kat were partners against Jon and Michael. (Side note: How do we feel about Jon’s shaved head?) In his own interview, Michael talked about how he had “a little mess” on his pants before his first appearance on Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” 44 years ago. He was so nervous backstage and had a little pit stop before going out to talk to Carson. When he came out, he was told about his visible whatnot downstairs, so someone had to blow-dry his crotch before he went out. Backstage, Kat shared her worst audition story. She tested for a movie that later won Oscars. She auditioned for the daughter role and she had to hysterically cry in her father’s arms. But the actor playing her father stayed across the room the whole time and she had to pretend to be restrained. That famous actor was later fired from the role, but Kat didn’t get the daughter part. On “The Late Late Show,” Jordana Brewster, Dave Grohl, and Rainn Wilson talked to James Corden about their Easters and various bands. They also did sketches of Jonathan, a nude older model. Just go with it.
“Mike & Molly” star Billy Gardell was on “Conan,” and he said when he learned he got the TV show job he was doing stand-up comedy in the basement of a strip club with only $7.18 to his name. “Barely Famous” stars Erin and Sara Foster were also on “Conan” talking about disastrous dates and passive-aggressive parking tickets.

  • Kit Harington Describes ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 5 in One Word

21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - ArrivalsExcitement is building for “Game of Thrones” Season 5, which starts not soon enough April 12, 2015 on HBO.

Kit Harington supported the show at the SAG Awards on Sunday, January 25 in L.A., and on the red carpet he talked to E! News about the upcoming GoT season. How would he describe it? Jon Snow’s alter ego went with one word: “Lavish.”

Why lavish? In past years, Kit said, they as a show have been told they can’t afford certain things. This year, if they asked, “Can we afford that?” the answer has been, “Yes.”

“They’re throwing money at it,” Kit said, adding that it makes sense since it’s Season 5 and they’re coming toward the real crux of the story. He also noted that there will be “huge action sequences” this season, leaving the audience “wanting more.”

Sounds pretty good so far! Some of that “lavish” production may be tied to GoT visiting new locations – including Dorne – plus that important Cersei scene that was rumored to cost six figures alone.
