Jennifer Garner Is Out for Revenge in ‘Peppermint’ Trailer
After spending years crafting a wholesome onscreen persona in family-friendly films, Jennifer Garner is finally returning to her ass-kicking, “Alias”-era roots in the new action flick, “Peppermint.”The film is directed by “Taken” helmer Pierre Morel, and it’s not hard to see the influence: “Peppermint” features Garner’s character, Riley North, seeking revenge after her family is gunned down in front of her (at a carnival, on her daughter’s birthday no less), and the city’s corrupt cops, lawyers, and judges — paid off by the drug cartel behind the hit — fail to charge the assailants.
Riley spends five years off the grid, honing her own particular set of skills while she plots to take down not only the cartel, but those who turned a blind eye to her personal tragedy. (That tragedy also includes a truly terrible post-murder pixie cut, though thankfully that grows out while she’s off getting buff.) She resurfaces on the anniversary of her family’s murder and begins exacting vigilante justice throughout the community, killing bad guys and becoming a local folk hero.
“She’s back,” one detective declares.
They might as well be talking about Garner herself. “Peppermint” looks like the perfect vehicle for the actress’s long-overdue return to the action genre, and could very well be the launch of her own Liam Neeson-style career renaissance. (Neesonaissance? Garnaissance? We’ll work on the name.)
The flick hits theaters on September 7.

Jennifer Garner Shares Set Photo as HBO’s ‘Camping’ Begins Production
The stars of HBO’s upcoming comedy “Camping” are ready to brave the elements.
With production beginning on the series, the cast and crew took to the great outdoors this week. Jennifer Garner posted a set photo on Thursday showing several of the show’s actors gathered in a woodsy area. The group includes cast members David Tennant, Juliette Lewis, Janicza Bravo, Ione Sky, Brett Gelman, Bridget Everett, and Arturo Del Puerto, as well as others.
“Let us commence,” Garner wrote. “The cast of #CampingHBO before we’re sunburned and covered in ticks.”
Garner also tagged Jenni Konner and Lena Dunham in the photo, as the two are the shows co-writers. They are basing their work on the British comedy series of the same name, which had a six-episode run in 2016. Like its predecessor, HBO’s “Camping” will center on a group of friends who take a trip to celebrate a birthday but end up dealing with various personal issues and challenges from Mother Nature.
In the upcoming series, Garner plays Kathryn, the wife of birthday celebrant Walt (Tennant). She is described as “obsessively organized and aggressively controlling,” according to Deadline. Meanwhile, her more mild-mannered sister and self-righteous best friend will be among the couple’s camping companions, making it an interesting trip.
So far, “Camping” doesn’t have a premiere date, but we’re glad to see it moving forward.

Embarrassed Jennifer Garner Wants to Punch Her Own Oscar Meme Face
Jennifer Garner wants to punch herself in the face.
The actress became the subject of a viral meme when she was captured looking as if she’d had a stunning realization while applauding at the Oscars. The very game Garner even poked fun at herself, reposting the meme with some of her own theories on Instagram.
She again addressed the meme on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” telling the host, “I can’t even look at it. It’s too embarrassing.”
DeGeneres noted that nobody else in the audience near her, including actor Chris Messina, seemed upset.
“I have no control over this. What am I doing?” Garner said, indicating her face. “I started getting texts, as you can imagine. People were saying, ‘What were you thinking? What’s happening?’ and I try really hard not to see myself online, but she was a little unavoidable.”
Garner joked, “I want to just punch her in the face! Not really, I don’t, but still.”
DeGeneres asked if the actress had any clue what she’d been thinking. “I wish I did. I wish I had a better story about it,” Garner sighed.
Then again, if we knew, the best meme of 2018 wouldn’t have happened.

Jennifer Garner Memes Her Own Oscars Realization Moment
Who doesn’t love a hilarious meme? Jennifer Garner certainly does — especially if she’s in it.
The actress became the subject of a viral meme Sunday night during the Oscars ceremony. She was seen clapping and then suddenly seemed to come to a stunning realization.
Fans added to the meme with their own theories, ranging from leaving a straight iron on to forgetting to thaw chicken. There were digs at Garner’s ex-husband, Ben Affleck, too, with one tweet proposing the realization was that Michael Keaton was the best Batman.
And now, Garner has weighed in on the meme herself, posting a few theories on her Instagram Story.

“Congrats to Shape of Water … maybe I should date a fish?” she jokes at one point. Another one pokes fun at her line of Capital One credit card commercials. “Hey Jimmy Kimmel, what’s in your wallet? Wait, where is my wallet?”

New HBO Series From Lena Dunham to Star Jennifer Garner
With “Girls” behind us, the acclaimed HBO series’ creators, Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner, have been working on their next project for the premium network, and we now know that it will star Jennifer Garner.
After mostly making movies following her starring role in the action TV series “Alias,” Garner is ready to return to the small screen. She’ll play the lead role in the upcoming HBO show “Camping,” Variety reports. Set for eight episode, the plot is based on the U.K. series of the same name and centers on a birthday weekend gone seriously awry. Garner will portray Kathryn, a control freak.
“We love Jennifer’s restraint and comedic timing, and we can’t wait for the warmth and intelligence she’ll bring to our central character, Kathryn,” Dunham and Konner said of Garner. “It’s truly a dream to have her first on our call sheet. Now we just have to write her some stunts.”
The series premiere date has not yet been announced, but we’re definitely curious to see how Dunham and Konner follow up “Girls.” Garner’s casting makes the project all the more intriguing.

Ben Affleck Dating ‘Saturday Night Live’ Producer Lindsay Shookus: Report
Ben Affleck is moving on from his divorce. Three months after Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner officially filed for divorce, he is dating “Saturday Night Live” producer Lindsay Shookus, according to E! News.
The couple was photographed going to dinner in L.A. and sources said they saw Sam Mendes’ play “Ferryman” in London last week. A source told People that they’ve known each other for years.
“It’s more than a summer fling. They are having fun and care for each other,” a source told E!. “It’s early and they are taking it slow.”
Shookus has worked at “SNL” since 2002 and also served as a producer on Tina Fey’s “30 Rock.” She was previously married to “SNL” colleague Kevin Miller, with whom she has a child.
Oscar-winning writer/director/actor Affleck separated from Garner in 2015, and they have made a public display of friendly co-parenting their three children. The family recently went on a trip to the Bahamas.

’13 Going on 30′ to Become a Broadway Musical
First “Mean Girls” got the official green light to head to the stage, and now, fellow 2004 comedy “13 Going on 30” is also set to become a musical.Deadline reports that the Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo-starring rom-com will get a Broadway adaptation, produced by industry veterans Andy Fickman (“Heathers: The Musical,” “Reefer Madness: The Musical”), Dean Stolber (the musical versions of “Legally Blonde” and “Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert”), and Todd Garner (who produced the “13 Going on 30” movie). Fickman will direct the show, from a book by the film’s screenwriters, Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa.
Music and lyrics will be penned by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner (who previously collaborated on Broadway musical “First Date”). And according to Deadline, there’s been discussion about licensing some ’80s hits that appear in the flick (including “Thriller” and “Love Is a Battlefield,” which anchor some memorable scenes) alongside writing original tunes.
“13 Going on 30” followed the adventures of Jenna (Garner), who begins the film as an awkward 13-year-old who yearns to be glamorous and popular. Thanks to some magic dust, her wish to become “thirty, flirty, and thriving” comes true, and she’s suddenly transported into the adult world (and an adult body), where she’s a high-powered magazine editor. She soon learns, though, that she gave up her childhood BFF Matt (Ruffalo) for a chance to join an exclusive clique.
The film is anchored by Garner’s energetic, effervescent performance, and whoever lands the role of Jenna will have some big shoes to fill. But as Fickman explains to Deadline, the movie “has all the elements of a great musical: comedy, romance, an empowering message — and a touch of magic.” So it seems the project will certainly make a natural fit for the Great White Way. Stay tuned to see how this one progresses.
