  • The ‘Shrek’ Honest Trailer Points Out ‘Overused Disney Tropes’ We Still Love

Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers series has been taking on its most-requested films, and it finally got around to making a video for “Shrek,” fans’ No. 1 pick.

The video offers a good reminder that no, Disney didn’t make the film. Instead, “Shrek” came from DreamWorks Animation and parodied “all of the overused Disney tropes” by fully embracing them. “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em … while at the same time mercilessly mocking them,” the narrator says.

The video uses solid evidence to point out some of these tropes in action. For example, the narrator calls Shrek, “the reluctant, ugly hero who thinks no one who can love them,” and we see him next to Disney’s Beast and Quasimodo. Fiona, on the other hand, is described as a “no-nonsense princess,” much like Jasmine, Esmeralda, Mulan, and Pocahontas.

  • The ‘Princess Bride’ Honest Trailer Makes Westley and Buttercup’s Love ‘Extra Spicy’

If you’ve been waiting for Honest Trailers to do “The Princess Bride,” Screen Junkies has finally said, “As you wish.”

The latest video in the parody video series has been released, and it’s almost as good as the classic film itself. It celebrates everything that is wonderful about film — also known as “the best sappy swashbuckling medieval love story ever made.” On top of that, it hilariously pokes fun at all the (fantastically) ridiculous parts.

The relationship between Westley (Cary Elwes) and Buttercup (Robin Wright) is at the top of that list. We get to revisit their budding love as the narrator reminds us that it was all based on her making him do chores for her. Then, we get to see things get “extra spicy” when Screen Junkies changes the music in one scene to turn up the heat. You’d be surprised by how much of a difference it makes.

  • Watch Honest Trailers Show Just How Weird ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ Is

The winter holidays are upon us, so now is the time for making-merry. For Screen Junkies, that means pointing out just how bizarre the 1964 Christmas special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” is.

The latest video in the Honest Trailers series takes on the stop-motion animated holiday classic by singing the famous Christmas carol as “if it were honest about what actually happens in the film.” The narrator tries to stop the singers from turning the beloved story into “‘Lord of the Rings’ for kids on acid,” but there’s no stopping them. Through the new version of the song, we revisit Rudolph’s journey into “exile.”

The trailer brings us through the entirety of the hour-long special in about two minutes, but it fits in the highlights — and lowlights. The moral of the story suddenly seems a lot less festive, as seen through the eyes of Honest Trailers. At least the song is still catchy.

  • The Honest Trailers Narrator Cops to Being a ‘Flash’ Fan

The narrator of Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers always has a lot of hilarious criticism, but it turns out the guy actually has a lot of good things to say about “The Flash.”

The web series’ latest video took a look at the CW superhero series, and it led to the narrator announcing — in surprise, mind you — that he’s actually a “Flash” fan. He may say that the show “combines the most ridiculous stuff in the comics with soap opera drama,” but he realizes that even though the series “really shouldn’t work … it somehow ended up being super fun.” And not just because he thinks the cast is super hot.

No Honest Trailer would be complete without a lot of mocking, of course. “The Flash” gets called out for a number of issues, including the fact that Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh), who mentors Barry (Grant Gustin), is “clearly a bad guy.” Best of all, though, may be Honest Trailers’ take on Barry’s relationship with Iris (Candice Patton). They are, as the narrator points out, “basically related,” and Iris has a penchant for making out with Barry’s romantic rival in front of him. Ouch.

Watch the show’s Honest Trailer below.
“The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

  • ‘Finding Nemo’ Honest Trailer Slays With Classic ‘Walking Dead’ Joke

Never thought about it before, but “The Walking Dead” Season 4. Did Pixar crib from the comic, or did the AMC show do a live-action version of the movie? Either way, where is CORAL right now?!

Screen Junkies has outdone itself with the new Honest Trailers video for 2003’s “Finding Nemo,” posted just days before the release of the 2016 sequel, “Finding Dory.”

“Before you catch the sequel that everyone hopes is a little more ‘Toy Story 2’ than ‘Cars 2,’ revisit the film that had to spoil its own ending in its title so audiences could have a shred of hope to hold on to through 90 minutes of tears and torture.”

Just keep swimming over here to see the trailer:
    Never go full Minion!

Poor “mentally handicapped” Dory takes a beating, but the trailer nails pretty much everything about “Taken” “Finding Nemo,” including how fans took all the wrong lessons from it — capturing thousands of their own Nemos, flushing fish down to toilet to “free” them, and even opening Nemo-themed fish restaurants for “complete sociopaths.”

Hopefully fans don’t take similar lessons from “Finding Dory,” which opens June 17.
