“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” may have been one of the biggest movies of the summer, but that doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been criticism. In fact, Honest Trailers got pretty harsh in the series’ most recent video.

Right from the start, it’s clear that the review isn’t going to pull punches. The narrator opens by saying, “Just when you thought the Jurassic franchise couldn’t get any dumber, a sequel will show anyone still clinging to the corpse of the original: You ain’t seen stupid yet.” That’s not even the most cutting comment in the video. That superlative might go to the line “dumb finds a way,” because not only does it insult the film, it does so with a play on a famous quote from the movies.

    Watch the video below.

While the “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” Honest Trailer is pretty harsh, fans did still turn out for the film in droves. It brought in more than $1.48 billion worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. Say what you will, but that’s an impressive figure.

Another “Jurassic World” sequel is slated to premiere June 11, 2021.

Just like “Deadpool 2” had a lot to live up to after the first film, so did its Honest Trailer, especially considering that Deadpool himself had crashed the parody video.

Well, both managed to do it. The “Deadpool 2” Honest Trailer came out on Tuesday, and it does the Screen Junkies series proud. Not only does it bring back Ryan Reynolds, it offers a fun twist when his snarky superhero character, Deadpool, decides to make an Honest Trailer for Honest Trailers. How fittingly meta.

The original “Deadpool” Honest Trailer ended with the merc with a mouth demanding not to be asked back for the sequel’s video, but he clearly couldn’t resist the chance to plug the recent release of “Deadpool 2” on Blu-ray and digital. Nor, it seems, was he able to resist the urge to mock the web series. He landed funny jabs about recurring tropes, bad puns, and more.

    Watch below.

In case you missed it, “Deadpool 2” is now on Blu-ray and digital.

  • The ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Trailer Can’t Handle How Much Movie the MCU Flick Is… or Thanos’s Hotness

Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers series doesn’t pass up an opportunity to spoof a hit movie, and the time finally came for it to tackle “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Given that there were 19 movies leading up to the superhero flick, there was a lot for the video to deal with — a fact that Screen Junkies didn’t ignore. The narrator almost immediately highlights the film’s scale, calling it it “without a doubt, the most movie Marvel’s ever made.” From there, we get to “look at all that movie,” which includes a rundown of the most important characters.

As you can imagine, it takes a long time to go through all the superheroes, but it’s enjoyable and, of course, funny. It all leads up to a recap of the plot, complete with entertaining nods to the internet’s love for Thanos and the narrator’s take on all of the movie’s deaths.

  • ‘Hook’ Honest Trailer Highlights the Danger of Re-Watching the Film

‘Hook’ Honest Trailer Highlights the Danger of Re-Watching the Film

    Hook still
    TriStar Pictures

Going back and re-watching a movie from your childhood can have surprising consequences, and Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers series warns that revisiting “Hook” might totally change how you feel about the film.

Released in 1991, “Hook” is a classic. Not only does continue the beloved story of Peter Pan, it stars the likes of Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Julia Roberts, and Maggie Smith. The film follows a grown-up version of Peter (Williams) as he returns to Neverland for the first time since childhood. He has forgotten his past and become a workaholic whose family life comes second to his career.

Again, the film is a classic, but the Honest Trailer points out some awkward truths. It’s hard to deny that it’s “a sexually charged violent movie about a midlife crisis that takes two hours to really get going … but, you know, for kids,” as the trailer asserts. We can’t overlook that the Lost Boys’ situation was sad, either.

    Watch the trailer below.

The Honest Trailer makes some good points, but at the same time, it’s hard to shed the nostalgia completely. Rufi-OOO forever.

  • The ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Honest Trailer Mocks Fans by Arguing With Itself

Screen Junkies found an unusual target for its latest Honest Trailers video: fans.

The new video takes on “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” and while it pokes fun at its source material like always, it also ribs the franchise’s very large and very divided fan base. Everything starts out normally, but then the narrator is interrupted by the original Honest Trailer voice, who has a very different opinion. The two disagree constantly, mirroring actual Star Wars fans.

Their assessment becomes complicated, to say the least. While the current voice calls the film “a refreshing update to a predictable formula,” the old voice adds that it “spits in the face of everything you once loved.” To the former, it’s exhilarating, yet the latter finds it insulting.

The two voices banter back and forth throughout the video, but by the end, they find some common ground. It turns out both camps had the same favorite parts and least favorite parts, and they’re equally disinterested in “Solo.” What a lesson in coming together.

Watch the funny take on “The Last Jedi” below.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Honest Trailer Points out Weird Similarities to ‘The Hangover’

What does a group of kids from Hawkins, Indiana, have in common with a group of groomsmen visiting Las Vegas? More than you’d think.

Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers series took on “Stranger Things” in its latest video, released Tuesday. Among its many gems is a surprisingly fitting comparison that likens the hit Netflix series to an unexpected film; the narrator describes the show as “the cutest version of ‘The Hangover’ you’ve ever seen.”

It really does work, and the video explains why: Both the movie and the show include a character who goes missing, one missing teeth, one who is “cool and skeptical,” and another who is “a dangerous liability to the group.” The narrator didn’t mention this, but both have a lot of flashing lights, too.

The video brings us through Season 1 with its usual mockery, but it also highlights the things we love about the show, such as the “tight story,” awesome cast, and amped up nostalgia. Watch below.

“Stranger Things” Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.

  • Honest Trailers Points Out That ‘Power Rangers’ Is ‘The Breakfast Club’ With Ninjas

The Honest Trailers narrator likes “Power Rangers” as much as millennials do.

Screen Junkies has released its latest Honest Trailers video, and its latest subject is the recent reboot of the ’90s teen ninja superhero franchise. There is plenty of the usual mocking, but there is a lot of complimentary commentary as well. In fact, the narrator argues that the film warrants a sequel.

What Honest Trailers likes so much about the flick is ironically not the action but the emotional stuff. The video highlights the kids’ problems and how those and the Rangers’ bond are what viewers actually come to care most about.

“if you loved ‘The Breakfast Club’ but wished they all turned into ninjas at the end, then this is the movie for you,” the narrator says.

Another shining moment is when the video postulates that adults “just pulled random edgy traits out of a hat” to come up with the teenage characters personalities. Now that we think about it, that actually wouldn’t surprise us…

    Watch the video below.

  • The ‘Catwoman’ Honest Trailer Is Brutal: ‘This Is a Movie Made for No One’

It’s a good thing Halle Berry has led such a successful career, or we’d feel horrible for her right about now.

Screen Junkies has released its latest video in the Honest Trailers series, and it has virtually nothing good to say about “Catwoman.” To be fair, the narrator asserts that it was a bad era for superhero flicks in general, but the 2004 movie faces some particularly harsh criticism. In fact, the video calls it a “movie made for no one about nothing that never should have existed.”

Beyond the usual look we get at cringe-worthy moments, the video includes footage of Berry’s Razzie Awards acceptance speech that year. Believe it or not, her commentary is even harsher than the Honest Trailers narrator’s is — she calls the flick a “piece of s–t, godawful movie.”

At least DC seems to have done better with the upcoming “Wonder Woman,” based on early reviews.

  • The ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Honest Trailer Is Full of Harry Potter Digressions

The Harry Potter comparisons may never end for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

Screen Junkies released the latest Honest Trailers video, and it is almost as much homage to Harry Potter fandom as it is a critique of the first film in J.K. Rowling’s newest series. Of course, the two are so intertwined that it’s to be expected. As the trailer reminds us, “Fantastic Beasts” is a movie “based on a real fake textbook, based on a fake real textbook, briefly mentioned in two real Harry Potter books.”

Throughout the video, we get to see fun Harry Potter throwbacks, from footage from the movies to what their stars are doing now. The narrator even takes a quick timeout to find his Patronus again on Pottermore. By the end, “Fantastic Beasts” hasn’t been overlooked completely, but Harry Potter does certainly grab some of its spotlight — which is pretty fitting.

    Watch the full video below.

Anyone else want to check out their Patronus again now, too?

  • The ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Honest Trailer Is Here to Remind You About Stockholm Syndrome

Just in time for the arrival of the new “Beauty and the Beast,” Screen Junkies is offering us all a reminder of what this “tale as old as time” is really about: a cruel prince trapped in a beast’s body, holding a girl captive in his castle.

The latest video in the Honest Trailers series debuted Tuesday, and it highlights just how “messed up” the 1991 animated classic is. All that romance you remember from childhood? It obscures the fact that Belle exhibits signs of Stockholm syndrome.

The hilarious trailer goes on to show the ways Disney was able to distract us from all the strangeness, like by including irresistible songs. Of course, since this is an Honest Trailers video, the lyrics aren’t quite the same. Instead, we get to hear new ones that definitely wouldn’t have been allowed in the animated version of the film.

Revisit Belle and the Beast’s story, as told by Honest Trailers, below.

The live-action “Beauty and the Beast” opens in theaters on March 17.
