  • New ‘Halloween’ Trailer Goes Back to the Beginning

    Universal

The latest trailer for the eagerly anticipated “Halloween” sequel presents the gruesome events of 1963 in Haddonfield, Illinois as a true-crime news story… followed by the even more shocking killings in 1978.

We see footage of news clippings, the murder house, a blurred-out-photo of 6-year-old Michael Myers, as well the sole survivor, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis ).

The trailer then segues into footage from the present day, in which a now grey-haired Laurie most stop her maniacal brother from his latest killing spree.

Several lucky people have already seen the David Gordon Green film, which debuted to nearly universal acclaim at the Toronto International Film Fest. It opens nationwide October 19.

And, even more Michael Myers mayhem: John Carpenter’s original 1978 slasher will be back in theaters on September 27.

    Blumhouse

Jamie Lee Curtis, the original Scream Queen, is back. And so is The Shape that’s haunted her for 40 years — Michael Myers.

Director David Gordon Green‘s “Halloween” picks up where John Carpenter’s 1978 original left off, with Curtis’ Laurie Strode now a grandmother suffering from the type of emotional trauma one would expect after having survived Michael’s killing spree.

But this older, extreme-survivalist version of Laurie is not a victim, and she’s much more than just a survivor, too, especially in how she turns the tables on Michael in the film’s nail-biter climax. This very timely and emotionally-charged take on the Strode character was not lost on either the star who plays her or on the film’s crew.

Moviefone recently sat down with Curtis, director Green, and producer Jason Blum (the head of Hollywood’s Horror Industrial Complex, Blumhouse) for an all-timer of an Unscripted, where Curtis revealed her favorite behind-the-scenes moment as she brought her iconic character back to the big screen.  Watch it below:

“Halloween” slashes into theaters Oct. 19.

    Universal Pictures

A new poster for the upcoming “Halloween” sequel features star Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her famous role — and staring down the infamous Michael Myers.

The striking one-sheet, shared by Curtis on social media on Tuesday, is simple but powerful, with Laurie Strode (Curtis) front and center, and her nemesis (playing by Nick Castle, also reprising his role from the first film) lurking ominously in the background.

    Universal Pictures

“Face your fate” declares the tagline at the bottom of the poster. Wearing a look of determination, it appears as if Laurie is gearing up to do exactly that.

“Halloween” is a direct follow-up to John Carpenter‘s 1978 original, with director David Gordon Green stepping in to help Curtis give closure to her iconic role (and ignore the many, many sequels that have been released in between). This time around, an adult Laurie must protect her family (including Judy Greer as her daughter and Andi Matichak as her granddaughter) from the return of Michael, who presence has loomed large throughout her life.

A new trailer for the flick is also set to drop tomorrow. Until then, enjoy this haunting image (and maybe leave the light on when you go to sleep tonight).

“Halloween” hits theaters on October 19.
