  • ‘GLOW’ Season 3 Trailer Teases Bright Lights (and Dark Side) of Headlining in Las Vegas

‘GLOW’ Season 3 Trailer Teases Bright Lights (and Dark Side) of Headlining in Las Vegas

    Netflix

A prime headlining spot on the Las Vegas Strip — it’s everything the ladies of “GLOW” wanted. But is it even enough?

Netflix released the trailer for Season 3 of the dramedy, which finds the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling in Vegas  where they are headliners at the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino.

Ruth (Alison Brie) is happy to have job and a boyfriend — but something is still missing. And she seems to be wrestling outside the ring with feelings for coach/director Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron). Meanwhile, Debbie (Betty Gilpin) continues to fight her corner as a producer but feels tremendous guilt for leaving behind her son.

As their residency wears on, the cast find themselves struggling with their own identities both in and outside of the ring.

The trailer provides the first footage of Geena Davis as a former showgirl, now the Fan-tan’s entertainment director.

“This season feels unlike anything we’ve shot before and we really embrace all the things that are Vegas, you know? Kind of the danger, the excitement, the sex, the raciness,” Brie told Entertainment Weekly. “I think there’s a lot of debauchery in season 3.”

All 10 episodes of “GLOW” Season 3 debut August 9 on Netflix.

“Glow” is welcoming Geena Davis into the ring.

The cast of the Netflix dramedy is adding the Academy Award winner in Season 3 as Sandy Devereaux St. Clair, a former showgirl turned entertainment director of the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino.

Season 3 follows the GLOW ladies as they leave L.A. for the bright lights of the Las Vegas strip, where they are headliners at the Fan-Tan. Ruth (Alison Brie) is still the group’s optimistic cheerleader, but her passion for the show begins to take a backseat to her growingly complicated personal life.

Meanwhile, Debbie (Betty Gilpin) continues to fight her corner as a producer but feels tremendous guilt for leaving behind her son. As their residency wears on, the cast find themselves struggling with their own identities both in and outside of the ring.

In recent years, Davis has moved into TV acting, appearing on “Grey’s Anatomy” and voicing Huntara in “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.” She will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at next year’s Oscars.

Netflix released several sneak peek images from the third season. Davis’s casting announcement also came with a photo of the actress sporting some serious ’80s hair and clothing (see the full pic below).

Breeda Wool is adding some “GLOW” to her life.

The actress has landed a recurring role in Season 3 of the Netflix series, Deadline reports. The gig will put her among the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling as a former showgirl and dancer, trying to provide for her daughter.

The series centers on a ragtag group of women and a washed-up director who put together a wrestling show. It starts off as a TV series, but after the events of Season 2, they’re taking it to Las Vegas. That’s where Wool’s character lives and works. We’re guessing Sin City will bring all kinds of new highs and lows for the ladies and their careers.

Wool is thrilled to be on the show. After the news broke, she tweeted that “watching and working on [‘GLOW’] makes [her] so happy.”

The cast includes Alison Brie (Ruth), Betty Gilpin (Debbie), and Marc Maron, among others. The show was created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, and inspired by an actual ’80s professional wrestling circuit called the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

Netflix Renews ‘GLOW’ for Season 3

    Netflixison

The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling will be back in the ring again soon: Netflix has renewed “GLOW” for a third season.

The streaming service announced the exciting news on social media on Monday, sharing a video montage revealing the renewal.

Season two of “GLOW,” which debuted earlier this summer, ended with the titular ladies set to take their show on the road to Las Vegas, and the video indicates that season three will indeed follow through on that tease. Aside from the Sin City setting, additional details about season three — including a release date — are being kept under wraps for now, though Variety reports that the series has been picked up for 10 additional episodes.

“GLOW” has been shining brightly for Netflix since its debut in 2017. Season one of the show just picked up a bunch of Emmy nominations, and we’d expect season two to do the same next year.

The series is inspired by the real-life “GLOW” professional wrestling promotion from the ’80s, and is a fictionalized retelling of how the fierce group of women came together. The winning cast includes Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Marc MaronSydelle Noel, Britney Young, Britt Baron, Kate Nash, Gayle Rankin, Kia Stevens, and Jackie Tohn.

  • ‘GLOW’ Season 2 Trailer Kicks Off a New Round With Big Challenges and More ’80s Flair

It’s almost time for another round of “GLOW.”

The hit Netflix series inspired by the ’80s TV show “Gorgeous Ladies of Women’s Wrestling” is coming back, and the streaming service has given us a better idea of what to expect. Ahead of Season 2’s June 29 premiere, Netflix unveiled a new trailer; the preview teases more challenges for the show within the show, ranging from ongoing tension between the characters to a #MeToo situation.

“GLOW” Season 1 introduced a misfit group of women tasked with putting together a wrestling show. It didn’t go smoothly, and it looks like many of the problems they faced before will resurface in Season 2. Among them are issues of racism in entertainment, balancing work and motherhood, and being taken seriously as a female professional. The issues are heavy, but from what we’ve seen so far, they’ll be handled with wit.

Watch the preview below. Warning: It’s NSFW.

“GLOW” Season 2 hits Netflix June 29.

  • ‘GLOW’ Season 2 Features ‘Way Bigger Moves,’ Says Betty Gilpin

The Gorgeous Ladies of Women’s Wrestling are ready to bring us even wilder matches.

As Netflix gears up for “GLOW” Season 2, the cast has been teasing what’s to come when the series returns. One thing we can expect, according to star Betty Gilpin, is more impressive work on the mats. She teased more complicated stunts while speaking to Variety during Netflix’s NYSee event on Wednesday.

“We’re doing way bigger moves this season,” she said. “I, in particular, do a huge amount of wrestling in Season 2, and my joints and muscles and ligaments are squeaking and singing like an old, old woman.”

Gilpin already did a fair amount of wrestling in Season 1. As Debbie Eagan, she was the friend-turned-rival of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), and she ended up creating the Liberty Belle character after her anger about a situation got her involved with the wrestling show within the Netflix show. However, “GLOW” was “holding back” during its first season, according to Carly Mensch, one of the show’s executive producers.

“I think we were holding back a lot in Season 1, but we kind of knew we had more exciting things planned,” she told Variety. “It’s kind of like we were holding cards behind our back and now we get to play them.”

We’ll see how far they take it when “GLOW” Season 2 hits Netflix on June 29.

  • ‘GLOW’ Season 2 Gets Release Date & Retro Fabulous ‘Flashdance’ Teaser

The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling are heading back in the ring!

Netflix just shared the release date and plot details for “GLOW” Season 2.

But they didn’t just post the Season 2 date, which is Friday, June 29. The streamer also shared a 1-minute, 41-second date announcement dance teaser set to “Maniac,” the song from the 1983 movie “Flashdance.”We missed those maniacs!

Here are details on the second season:

“Season 2 follows the women of GLOW as they become local celebrities, confronting the good, the bad, and the ugly realities of their newfound fame. As Ruth (Alison Brie) and Debbie (Betty Gilpin) settle into the day-to-day of making a season of TV together, they confront lingering issues at the heart of their friendship. Sam (Marc Maron) is still Sam, but now he has a teenage daughter living with him and twenty episodes to churn out. The wrestling is harder, the stakes are higher, and the hair is even bigger.”

In addition to Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Marc Maron, the Netflix comedy also stars Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, Jackie Tohn, Kate Nash, Britt Baron, Rich Sommer, Chris Lowell, Gayle Rankin, Kia Stevens, Sunita Mani, Ellen Wong, Marianna Palka, and more.
