  • Animated ‘Addams Family’ Film Reveals Star-Studded Voice Cast, Plot & Release Date

Here’s your first creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky look at the upcoming animated “reimagining” of “The Addams Family.”

MGM released an image of the characters — there they are above! — and details on the voice cast.

    • Oscar Isaac will voice Gomez Addams
    • Charlize Theron is Morticia Addams
    • Chloë Grace Moretz is Wednesday Addams
    • Finn Wolfhard is Pugsley Addams
    • Nick Kroll is Uncle Fester
    • Bette Midler is Grandmama
    • Allison Janney plays the family’s nemesis, Margaux Needler.

The film will be directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, based on a screenplay by Matt Lieberman.

Here’s a statement from Conrad Vernon:

“Greg and I have always been a fan of the Addams Family in past versions, so when we set out to make this movie, we were excited to do something new. With that in mind, I drew from the brilliantly original Charles Addams New Yorker cartoons for the look of the film and decided to tell the story of how Gomez and Morticia meet, find their house and start their family. This unique approach is what drew me in to direct the film. The reimagining also extends to the stellar cast we’ve put together who will each bring their own spin to our film that will appeal to longtime fans of the Addams and introduce them to a new generation.”

So they plan to “tell the story of how Gomez and Morticia meet, find their house and start their family.”

Jonathan Glickman, president of MGM Motion Pictures Group, added:

“Conrad and Greg are masters of animation with the keen ability to create something both kids and their parents will enjoy for different reasons. Adding to that a world class caliber of talent with Oscar, Charlize, Chloë, Finn, Nick, Bette and Allison – we can’t wait to bring their fresh and modern take on The Addams Family to the worldwide audience.”

Here are more details via MGM’s release:

“Based on the famous New Yorker creations of Charles Addams, this animated action-comedy will follow the Addams family whose lives begin to unravel when they face-off against a crafty reality-TV host while also preparing for their extended family to arrive for a major celebration, Addams-style.

Morticia, devilishly devoted to her husband and children, is the pale glue that holds her clan together.

Gomez, debonair, sinister and passionately in love with his wife, is enthusiastic about whatever dreadful scheme he’s cooked up.

Wednesday is a brilliant and sinister teenage girl with long braids and dead-pan wit.

Pugsley, a menacing 10 year old on over-drive, enjoys getting into any kind of dreadful mischief he can find.

Mad Uncle Fester is good natured, merry and likes to create mayhem any way he can.

Grandmama is smitten with her grandchildren who enjoy her cookies shaped like bats and skulls.

Margaux Needler, the reality TV makeover queen, is consumed with a desire for absolute suburban, pastel perfection.”

Do you think this animated film can live up to the standard of the 1964 black-and-white TV show? Or the 1991 live-action movie, with Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia? Or that film’s 1993 sequel?

“The Addams Family” is scheduled for release on October 11, 2019 — just in time for Halloween!

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Star Finn Wolfhard Asks ‘Fans’ to Stop Harassing Friends & Coworkers

Premiere Of Netflix's 'Stranger Things' Season 2 - ArrivalsStrange things are happening to the “Stranger Things” stars.

We’ve been seeing the cast members everywhere lately to promote Season 2 on Netflix. The four boys were just on “The Tonight Show” and then “The Late Late Show” doing goofy bits. They’re popular, and they seem to be having fun. But they are also flooded with attention — and some of it is extreme. Even when the attention is meant to be positive, it can be too needy.

“Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner just reached out to tell people to back off the “Stranger Things” kids — who are 13-16– and stop harassing them for photos or autographs at their hotels, etc.

Finn Wolfhard, 14, was apparently involved in some backlash when he didn’t stop to greet fans waiting outside his hotel. There was also the controversy of a 27-year-old model basically hitting on Wolfhard:

Wolfhard responded to the model’s post, calling it “gross,” but also not seeming to want to talk about it too much. Maybe because it was creepy and invasive:

Wolfhard recently dropped his agent after the agent was accused of sexually assaulting two men when they were teens not much older than himself. These are not fun subjects.

So there’s a lot going on. Wolfhard himself weighed in on Twitter, not directly referencing any incident, but suggesting the people he was tweeting about knew who they were:

Many fans thanked him and agreed with him, even as they disagreed with each other on what exactly he was referencing. He wrote “literally acting and doing their job” so that sounds like there are fans out there lashing out at stars for what their characters do. Sometimes fans blur the lines too much and forget that the actors are just people — not their characters, but also not superheroes or ethereal beings outside the realm of Just People Like The Rest Of Us.

Anyway, on a lighter note, here are the four lads in a fun bit with James Corden, forming their own Motown cover band, “The Upside Downs”:“Stranger Things” Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Netflix. Season 3 will show up when it feels like it.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Star Finn Wolfhard’s Zac Efron Impression Is Pretty Great

US-ENTERTAINMENT-TELEVISIONApparently all of the “Stranger Things” boys love “High School Musical.”

The four young lads — Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), and Noah Schnapp (Will) — had a great time together on “The Tonight Show,” shortly after their costar Millie Bobby Brown was a solo guest.

Jimmy Fallon asked if the guys get along in real life. They joked that they hate each other, then Finn shared a story about hanging out Halloween night. They were supposed to watch scary movies, but when Finn showed up, they were watching “High School Musical.”

Gaten said Sadie Sink — who plays new character Max in “Stranger Things” Season 2 — is a big fan of “High School Musical,” and so is his own sister. So when Sadie started singing some “High School Musical” songs on set, that “opened the floodgates” in Gaten’s memory and he found himself knowing every word.

Finn said the whole reason he played basketball is because of Zac Efron‘s character Troy Bolton. So he got up and briefly showed off his impression of Zac Efron’s Troy.

Watch the impression around the 3:15 mark:Then Caleb slightly corrected Finn on how Efron held his head.

    Fans loved it:

You should also watch their Dance Battle:Now we just need a Zac Efron impression of Mike Wheeler…

“Stranger Things 2” is currently streaming on Netflix.

  • 7 Things You Need to Know Before Watching ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2

“Stranger Things” easily ranks among the most popular of Netflix’s many original series, and fans have been waiting more than a year for new episodes to finally hit the streaming service.

Thankfully, Season 2 is finally dropping on Friday, October 27. Here’s everything you need to know to get ready for the show’s return.

    1. It’s Just in Time for HalloweenNot only is the series conveniently returning in time for Halloween, Season 2 will feature a lot of Halloween trappings itself.

Season 2 will pick up in October 1984, roughly a year after the return of Will (Noah Schnapp). Early footage showed the series’ young cast dressed as Ghostbusters, so expect plenty of references to period-appropriate pop culture as everyone gets into the holiday spirit.

    2. Everyone’s Back (Except Barb)All of the major surviving characters from the first season are back, including Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as police chief Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, and Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers.

Unfortunately, that leaves one notable hole in the lineup. Despite becoming a fan-favorite in Season 1, it doesn’t sound like Shannon Purser’s Barb will be cheating death. That’s already led fans to create the #JusticeforBarb hashtag.

But then again, you never know what weird twists might unfold on this series.

    3. There Are Two New CharactersBoth of new additions are played by actors with serious ’80s movie pedigrees. First is Sean Astin‘s Bob Newby, a former classmate of Joyce and Hopper, who now runs the local RadioShack. Do we sense a love triangle forming?

Second is Paul Reiser as Ownes, a Department of Energy representative who is tasked with covering up the strange events that lead us to paying the Upside Down a visit.

    4. There’s a Heavy James Cameron Influence“Stranger Things” proudly wears its influences on its sleeve, with the show owing a huge debt to “E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial” and the works of Stephen King. However, co-creator Matt Duffer said that Season 2 will be pulling from a different source.

Duffer revealed to Entertainment Weekly that this season will draw inspiration from James Cameron‘s films, both in terms of their general appeal and Cameron’s willingness to differentiate his sequels from the originals.

    5. Say ‘Hello’ to Hopper’s DaughterWhile much of the focus in Season 1 centered around the search for Will, the series also explored Hopper’s lingering trauma as a father grieving for his dead daughter. Expect that to become an even bigger focus in this new season.

“Hopper’s daughter will be the primary focus of Season 2, but not in the way that you think it will be,” Harbour told TV Guide. “Hopper’s understanding of that relationship — and Hopper’s understanding of being a father — and of being a man grows deeper and deeper in Season 2, and we get a lot of time to explore what that is, but it won’t be in the literal way that you think it is.”

    6. The Upside Down Is Back (Duh)Don’t think that just because Will is back, he and his friends are done with the twisted realm that is the Upside Down.

The gang will continue to explore the mysteries of that realm and face a new foe that will “make that Demogorgon look quaint.” Co-creator Ross Duffer also teased that the season will open on a very disturbing note, so get ready for a dark road ahead.

    7. There Are More Seasons PlannedUnsurprisingly, Netflix plans to continue making this show a major part of its TV arsenal. Expect plenty more of the series after Season 2 wraps. At first, the Duffer brothers indicated that they had a four-season road map for the series, but now it sounds as though they may be planning a fifth season, too.

That’s a good thing, because fans won’t be getting much closure for the next round of episodes. The show will end on another big cliffhanger this year. Hopefully, the wait for Season 3 won’t be quite as long.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ & ‘IT’ Star Finn Wolfhard Dumps Agent Accused of Sexual Assault

The Hollywood Reporter And SAG-AFTRA Inaugural Emmy Nominees Night Presented By American Airlines, Breguet, And Dacor - Red CarpFinn Wolfhard shot to fame thanks to two horror projects, but he’s not playing around when it comes to real-life horrors.

Wolfhard — who plays Mike Wheeler in the Netflix series “Stranger Things,” and RIchie Tozier in the hit movie “IT” — just left his agent and agency. According to TheWrap, Wolfhard was Tyler Grasham’s biggest client, but the actor is no longer signed with him or the Agency for the Performing Arts. A source close to Wolfhard told Deadline the 14-year-old star left Grasham because of the sexual assault allegations against him.

Two men recently came forward alleging the APA agent sexually assaulted them. Former actor Blaise Godbe Lipman, now 28, accused Grasham of plying him with alcohol and sexually assaulting him when he was a teenager. After that, Lucas Ozarowski, now a 27-year-old film and TV editor, told Deadline the same thing happened to him. An agency spokesperson told outlets, “APA takes these allegations extremely seriously and is investigating this matter.”

Meanwhile, Wolfhard is now promoting “Stranger Things” Season 2, which premieres on Netflix next Friday, Oct. 27.

  • Meet the Kids from Stephen King’s It

What’s it really like working with a demonic clown. The young actors in Stephen King’s “It” got up close and personal with Pennywise, leaving them with the same thrills and chills on set as audiences will experience in theaters, plus the excitement of appearing in what may be one of the biggest movies of the years.

“It was an awesome, traumatizing experience,” Chosen Jacobs tells Made in Hollywood reporter Patrick Stinson.

To ensure maximum shock value, the kids went a month filming together before they ever saw Bill Skarsgard in clown regalia.

“He was kind of hidden from us,” says Jaeden Lieberher. “We didn’t know what he was going to look like. We didn’t know how he was going to act at all. (When) we finally had a scene with him. It was very scary.”

“It was very scary,” agrees Dylan Grazer.

Well, maybe not all the time, says Sophia Lillis, who at first couldn’t get past how tall the clown was. “Him trying to get through the door was kind of funny,” he says.

Plus, she struggled with the juxtaposition of the friendly Skarsgard with his creepy character.

“He’s a very nice person in general,” she says. “So talking to me with that clown makeup and clown costume on, trying to kill me, it’s unsettling.”
