‘Avengers: Endgame’ Is Already Setting Box Office Records Overseas

Marvel Studios It should come as no surprise that “Avengers: Endgame” is expected to do big business at the box office, after setting off a ticket presale frenzy. And days ahead of its stateside debut, the flick is already over-performing overseas.
Deadline reports that midnight showings have officially started in China (where it’s currently Wednesday in local time), and the ticket presale total for these earliest screenings is an estimated $26.8 million. That’s a solid number for preview screenings in general, but in context of other Chinese opening night debuts, it’s even more staggering: The previous record-holder was “The Fate of the Furious,” which made a comparatively paltry $9.1 million in 2017. (“Infinity War,” meanwhile, made $8.9 million.)
Overall, “Endgame” is expected to perform exceptionally well in China, with current ticket presales totaling $114.5 million. According to Deadline, that’s almost twice what “Infinity War” pulled in last year in presales in the country ($65 million). All told, the film’s five-day opening in China is estimated to rake in $250 million to $280 million.
That sum is expected to contribute to what’s looking to be a history-making weekend at the worldwide box office. “Endgame” is already sparking whispers of a potential $1 billion total opening haul. That may be wishful thinking, but then again, Marvel fans have already broken the internet — who’s to say they can’t break the box office, too?

First (Spoiler-Free) ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Reactions: Everyone Is Crying

Marvel “Avengers: Endgame” held its world premiere last night in Los Angeles, which means there are people out there who’ve seen the 22nd Marvel movie, which is the culmination of over a decade of storytelling.
The Russo brothers, who directed the film, once again asked fans who see it early not to spoil it.
But they can still post spoiler-free reactions. Most are positive, though the prevailing reaction seems to be tears. Even Chris Evans says he cried six times (and to top him, Chris Hemsworth replied he cried more than six times).
Here’s a round-up of what everyone is saying, including Moviefone’s own Drew Taylor:
#AvengersEndgame isn’t just a mind boggling feat of giant, grade-A studio filmmaking but it’s deeply affecting, personal and emotional and might be the high point of not just the MCU but superhero films in general. Wow. pic.twitter.com/N4omEMsUH8

#AvengersEndgame is A LOT. Too much at times. But wow the payoff is huge. Left me proud to have invested over a decade in a franchise that delivers an inspiring exploration of what it means to be family & a hero. (Endgame also now has one of my favorite shots in the entire MCU.)

Imagine the best possible version of #AvengersEndgame and somehow the film still surpasses all expectations. I cried 5-6 times. It’s the most emotional, most epic, MCU film. A tribute to ten years of this universe and holy shit the great fan service in this movie. Soooo good.

#AvengerEndgame is an immensely satisfying payoff, not just to Infinity War but to all the films that came before. This is why the MCU. (And I say this as someone who was not especially enamored of Infinity War, FWIW.) ♥️💙💜

#AvengersEndgame is a masterful epic – a true culmination of 22 films that not only concludes the story, but expands upon it. You’ll learn more about the other movies while this one unfolds. If Infinity War is the brawn, Endgame is the brains. And wow, what an ending! pic.twitter.com/94ttBUQKJ0

‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors Again Ask Fans Not to Spoil the Movie

Walt Disney Studios The countdown is on to the release of the final chapter in the “Avengers” saga, “Avengers: Endgame,” and unfortunately, that means that some spoilers have already started leaking from the film. But the movie’s directors are now pleading directly with fans to help keep the flick’s secrets, and not ruin anything for others.
In a heartfelt open letter shared on social media on Tuesday, the Russo Brothers — a.k.a. co-directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo — did not address any of the leaks directly. But, like they did before the release of last year’s “Infinity War,” they instead appealed directly to fans’ own desire not to have the film ruined for themselves.
https://twitter.com/Russo_Brothers/status/1118219449570455552
Calling MCU devotees “the greatest fans in the world,” the directors detailed the work that went into making the film, and their desire to see fans enjoy it on its own merits. The letter said, in part:
Please know that the two of us, along with everyone involved in Endgame, have worked tirelessly for the last three years with the sole intention of delivering a surprising and emotionally powerful conclusion to the Infinity Saga.
Because so many of you have invested your time, your hearts, and your souls into these stories, we’re once again asking for your help.
When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please don’t spoil it for others, the same way you wouldn’t want it spoiled for you.
The directors ended their letter with the hashtag, #DontSpoilTheEndgame, which has already spiked significantly on Twitter. We expect to see it in even more as the release date looms.
“Avengers: Endgame” is due in theaters on April 26.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ Clip Explains Where Captain Marvel Has Been All This Time

Marvel New girl is stepping up the “Avengers” game.
Marvel debuted a clip from “Avengers: Endgame” on “Good Morning America.” We’ve seen snippets of the footage in trailers, but the scene shows Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) meeting with the remaining Avengers to discuss how to defeat Thanos. After all, he’s still got the Infinity Stones.
“So, let’s get them. Use them to bring everyone back,” Carol says nonchalantly.
“We owe it to everyone not in this room to try.” Watch a brand new clip from Marvel Studios’ #AvengersEndgame, in theaters April 26. Get tickets now: https://t.co/93jQYXAc6I pic.twitter.com/BgueHNOQqP
— Avengers (@Avengers) April 8, 2019
Bruce Banner aka The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) is incredulous. “Just like that?” Why would this fight with Thanos turn out differently than the last one?
“Because before, you didn’t have me,” Captain Marvel notes confidently.
And when Rhodes (Don Cheadle) questions where “new girl” has been all this time, she informs him there’s a whole universe out there and she’s kinda been busy saving it.
“Avengers: Endgame” opens in theaters April 26.

New ‘Avengers’ Trailer Unites the Whole (Remaining) Team to Kick Thanos’ Ass

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures “You trust me?” Iron Man asks Captain America in a new special look trailer for “Avengers: Endgame.” Hell yeah, we do!
And if anybody can kick Thanos’ ass and avenge all the heroes he snapped out of existence, it’s two broken-up bromantic buddies. With some help from the very first Avenger, Captain Marvel.
The new trailer features a few glimpses of footage we haven’t seen before including that moment of making peace between Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).
We also see the Avengers (or what’s left of them) assembled, in a conference room and it what appears to be the Guardians of the Galaxy space ship. There’s also a sweet reunion hug between Tony and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow).
And the trailer gives a look at the confrontation with Thanos (Josh Brolin).”“You could not live with your own failure,” the uber-villain says. “Where did that bring you? Back to me.”
“Avengers: Endgame” opens in theaters April 26.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ Character Posters Promise to Avenge the Fallen

Marvel Time to avenge the fallen.
“Avengers: Endgame” is making that promise in a series of character posters released on social media with just over a month to go before the Marvel movie’s release on April2 6.
The posters include heroes who survived Thanos’ decimation of the universe — and those who didn’t. The ones who survived are in full color, and the ones who did not are in black and white.
Here’s Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), who survived:

And here’s Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), who did not:

There’s Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), who we just met in her own blockbuster standalone movie and is set to join the Avengers:

More surviving heroes, with a couple of surprising standouts (Benedict Wong and Tessa Thompson’s characters Wong and Valkyrie are ALIVE):

New ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Trailer & Poster Bring in Captain Marvel to Save the Day

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures The Avengers are broken in the new trailer for “Endgame” — but they’ll do whatever it takes to avenge the fallen. And luckily, they’ve now got Captain Marvel on their side.
After Thanos wiped out half of the living, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is adrift in space. Captain America (Chris Evans) is depressed. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is somber. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) mourns his father. They run into Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), who looks suicidal.
And then comes a ray of hope in the form of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). As we’ve seen in her standalone blockbuster movie, she is hella powerful — a super superhero. And this is one hero who knows how to do “whatever it takes.”
There’s not much new footage from the movie that we haven’t seen already, though we do get a glimpse of the Avengers’ new uniforms (and Hawkeye’s mohawk haircut!). And it’s great to get at least a taste of how Carol will fit in, as we only saw her briefly interact with Black Widow and Cap in the mid-credits scene of “Captain Marvel.”
“Avengers: Endgame” opens in theaters April 26.

Tom Holland, Russo Brothers Reteaming for Opioid Drama ‘Cherry’

Marvel Studios The “Avengers” may be disassembling soon but Tom Holland and the Russo brothers will still be on the same team.
The “Spider-Man” star — who appeared in the Russos’ “Avengers: Infinity War” and the upcoming “Endgame” — is in talks to star in their next project, the dark drama “Cherry,” according to Variety.
It would be the Anthony and Joe Russo’s first non-Marvel film since 2006’s “You, Me, and Dupree.” Their first film was 2002’s “Welcome to Collinwood.”
Based on Nico Walker’s autobiographical novel, “Cherry” tells the story of a former Army medic who returns from Iraq with extreme undiagnosed PTSD, falls into opioid addiction and begins robbing banks.
Walker was convicted in 2011 and is scheduled to be released in 2020. He wrote the book in prison on a typewriter over the course of several years.
Holland next stars in “Endgame” on April 26, then “Spider-Man: Far From Home” on July 5.
