  • Paul Rudd Faces a Trial By Water in This Cool ‘Ant-Man’ Clip

Ant-ManBigger isn’t always better, but in the case of a bathtub full of water, being the size of an ant is a terrifying prospect.

Marvel released a clip from the upcoming “Ant-Man,” and it’s a really cool look at what happens when thief Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) puts on the suit he stole from Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Standing in the bathtub, he activates the suit — and instantly transforms into the size of an ant!

As Scott tries to get his bearings, Pym speaks into his helmet. “The world sure seems different from down here, Scott.” Oh, yes, especially when Scott’s friend turns on the faucet, unleashing a tidal wave of water!

This isn’t a trial by fire; it’s a trial by water! As the first real look at Rudd using the suit, the clip gives us a very tantalizing glimpse at what could potentially be an awesome movie.

    Watch the clip here.

“Ant-Man” opens in theaters July 17.

  • ‘Ant-Man’ Got a Cute New Father’s Day Themed Trailer

Marvel is releasing Paul Rudd‘s “Ant-Man” movie on July 17, and they created a special teaser for Father’s Day, focusing on the character of Scott Lang and his relationship with his daughter Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson). In the trailer we see Scott bond with his little “peanut” and apologize for being late since he was out saving the world. We also see Scott’s ex-wife, Maggie (Judy Greer) tell him, “Be the hero that she already thinks you are.” Sniff.

    Check it out:

The first official trailer was longer and more informative, with shots of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), his daughter Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), and industrialist Darren Cross (Corey Stoll). But this one is really sweet and highlights the awwwww-worthy side of Paul Rudd, who is pretty darn lovable in general.

What do you think of “Ant-Man” so far, based on what you’ve seen?

  • Marvel Shares Major ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Cast and Plot Details

Almost exactly one year from now — on May 6, 2016 — a bunch of people you just saw in “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” will return in “Captain America: Civil War,” along with a few familiar faces from other places, and some total newbies who remain mysterious. For now.

Emily VanCamp, very soon to be a “Revenge” alumnus, is returning to “Captain America” as Agent 13, aka Kate/Sharon Carter. She was briefly in “Winter Soldier” as next door neighbor Kate, assigned to protect the hero. Not sure what she’ll be up to in “Civil War,” but Emily tweeted confirmation about the scoop:

But not too long after that news came out, Marvel Studios announced that the Avengers would return in full for “Civil War.” In a media release, Marvel noted that principal photography had begun in Atlanta, Georgia, but other locations for the third “Captain America” movie will include Germany, Puerto Rico and Iceland. Chris Evans will be joined by Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, Paul Bettany’s Vision, Don Cheadle’s War Machine, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, and Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier.

Plus, after his debut in “Ant-Man” on July 17, 2015, Paul Rudd will make his first appearance alongside the Avengers in “Civil War.”

Marvel also listed the “additional cast,” including VanCamp, but also Chadwick Boseman (“42,” “Get on Up”) as T’Challa/Black Panther, Daniel Brühl (“Inglourious Basterds,” “Bourne Ultimatum”), Frank Grillo (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Warrior”) as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, William Hurt (“A History of Violence,” Marvel’s “The Incredible Hulk”) as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and Martin Freeman (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”). Note, they didn’t say a single thing about Freeman’s character. Those teases!

But we’re not done yet. Here are some early plot details from Marvel:

“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.”

Is Martin Freeman the new and nefarious villain? Guess we’ll have to stay tuned for more details. What do you think of the cast and story intel so far?

  • There’s a Really Awesome ‘Star Wars’ Easter Egg in a Bunch of Marvel Movies

Guardians of the GalaxyOther than crazy-obsessed fan bases and a film distributor in Disney, the Marvel and “Star Wars” universes don’t appear to overlap much. But there is a hidden theme that ties the two together.

As fans well know, Marvel loves planting Easter eggs in its movies, mostly to tease upcoming films or characters. Well, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently revealed to Cinemablend that every Phase II movie also contains a “Star Wars” Easter egg.

“So is this a spoiler for ‘Ant-Man’ … not really. I’m obsessed with ‘Star Wars.’ Who’s not? I’m 40 years old. I’m in the movie business. I went to USC,” Feige said. “I was sort of looking at it, ‘Okay, is Phase Two our ‘Empire Strikes Back?” Not really, but tonally things are a little different. Somebody gets their arm cut off in every Phase Two movie. Every single one.”

    It’s true! To wit:

    • In “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Gamora slices off Groot’s arm.
    • In “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Bucky loses an arm.
    • In “Thor: The Dark World,” Thor seemingly gets his arm cut off by Loki (it was a trick).
    • In “Iron Man,” Tony cuts off Aldrich Killian’s arm.

So, keep your eyes peeled during “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Ant-Man”!

  • Marvel Teases ‘Ant-Man’ With Ant-Sized & Human-Sized Trailers (VIDEO)

We won’t get a full teaser trailer for Marvel’s “Ant-Man” until Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean that the marketing folks at Marvel HQ aren’t going to have some fun with audiences first.

The studio debuted a pair of mini teaser trailers for the flick this weekend in both ant- and human-sized form, with the former clip better suited for a small being’s eyes, and the latter a more normal YouTube-viewable format. When magnified to human-sized, the teaser really comes into focus, featuring short glimpses of Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas all in action as their respective comic alter egos.

Just how the trio all fit together remains to be seen, though we’re expecting a bit more intel from the full teaser, which is due to debut during “Agent Carter” on Tuesday. Check out the clips below, and tune in to ABC tomorrow night for a closer look.
