Add fictional crime-fighter to Anna Kendrick‘s resume.

The Academy Award nominee has joined the upcoming crime thriller “Unsound,” Deadline reports. Her character is a New England state trooper who is secretly dealing with hearing loss, not to mention a tough mission. The script was written by Matthew Ross and Christopher Edwards, and Bharat Nalluri (“The Man Who Invented Christmas”) is set to direct.

The story centers on Kendrick’s law enforcement character. She is assigned the most dangerous case of her career: digging into a notorious gang leader’s prison break. Her investigation will uncover a conspiracy, and between that and her ongoing hearing loss, she’ll find her career and life in jeopardy.

Kendrick is an Oscar nominee for 2009’s “Up in the Air.” Since then, she’s starred in a number of high-profile films, including the Pitch Perfect movies and “Trolls.” Additionally, she was one of the leads in “A Simple Favor” and has two movies coming out before the end of the year — “The Day Shall Come” and “Noelle.”

“Unsound” will be produced by ShowKat Production’s Jonathan Shukat, Untapped’s Andrew Corkin, and XYZ’s Aram Terzakian and Nate Bolotin. XYZ and CAA Media Finance are backing the film and will handle sales during the 2019 Toronto Film Festival.

WarnerMedia has ordered one of its first TV series for its upcoming streaming service, and the project reunites Anna Kendrick and Paul Feig.

The two are executive producing a romantic comedy anthology series called “Love Life,” Variety reports. Kendrick will star in the series as well. She previously had a lead role in the 2018 mystery thriller “A Simple Favor,” which Feig directed.

“Love Life” comes from creator Sam Boyd, who is set to direct. WarnerMedia gave the series a 10-episode order, and each will be a half-hour long. As an anthology series, it will have different protagonists each season. The episodes will tell different relationship stories.

Kendrick has never starred in a TV series before. She is best known for her work on the big screen, including in the Twilight movies, the Pitch Perfect series, “A Simple Favor,” and more. Meanwhile, Feig has extensive TV and film experience. He directed “Bridesmaids” and “Ghostbusters,” as well as created the TV series “Freaks and Geeks.” They should again make for a formidable team.

Lionsgate Television and FeigCo Entertainment are producing “Love Life.” Jessie Henderson, Bridget Bedard, and Dan Magnante all join Kendrick and Feig as executive producers.

It has officially been 10 years since “Twilight” came out, and that was apparently long enough for Anna Kendrick to forget about her role in the film.

The actress posted a funny tweet on Monday, Nov. 26, a little more than a week after the film’s 10th anniversary. In it, she admitted that she “just remembered” she was in the movie, meaning that her role in four of the film series’ five parts somehow slipped her mind.

Granted, Kendrick’s character, Jessica Stanley, was relatively small and she has since gone on to much bigger roles. In the series, Jessica befriended Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) early on, but we didn’t see all that much of her once Bella became entangled with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). Still, “Twilight” fans definitely didn’t forget that Kendrick was in the movie. In fact, they were happy to remind her of her work and replied with tweets of their own.

Kendrick’s “Twilight” role might have been temporarily forgettable for her, but she clearly made an impression on fans.

  • ‘A Simple Favor’ Trailer: Blake Lively Is a Gone Girl

    A Simple Favor
    Lionsgate

Blake Lively is ghosting all of us.

Lionsgate released the first full trailer for “A Simple Favor,” which stars Lively as Emily Nelson, an elegant and impossibly cool woman who strikes up a sort-of friendship with fellow mom Stephanie (Anna Kendrick). Emily is mysterious and eccentric — even her husband (Henry Golding) calls her a “beautiful ghost.”

Then, Emily literally ghosts and disappears without a trace after calling Stephanie for the titular favor. Is she dead? Where did she go? Should her husband be a suspect?

The movie is based on Darcey Bell’s mystery thriller of the same name and directed by Paul Feig, who’s going a bit darker than his usual projects. It seems like there will be a lot of twists and turns and revelations, with Linda Cardellini at one point issuing this warning to Stephanie: “She was not a normal person like you or me. I’d never seen such a beautiful girl want to be so invisible.”

“A Simple Favor” opens in theaters September 14.

  • The ‘Trolls’ Sequel Is Called ‘Trolls: World Tour,’ and There’s a New ‘Mysterious Threat’

Your favorite rainbow-haired creatures are coming back in 2020 in the “Trolls” sequel, and the film’s title and plot details have finally been unveiled.

“Trolls 2” is actually called “Trolls World Tour,” and it brings a whole new “mysterious threat” to Poppy, Branch, and their friends. DreamWorks shared the news on Twitter, posting a movie poster with the official movie title and release date.

DreamWorks also shared a synopsis for the film, which reveals that the sequel will pick up after the events of the first. Apparently, the “glitter and happiness in Troll Town” is soon to be interrupted; the plot summary teases an upcoming conflict and more musical adventures. It reads (via SlashFilm):

Continuing where the first film left off, it’s all glitter and happiness in Troll Town until Queen Poppy and Branch make a surprising discovery — there are other Troll worlds beyond their own, each defined by a different genre of music. When a mysterious threat puts all the Trolls across the land in danger, Poppy, Branch, and their band of friends must embark on an epic quest through unfamiliar terrain to do the impossible: create harmony among the diverse Trolls to unite them against certain doom.

We’re excited to see Poppy, Branch, and the gang return for song-filled fun. Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake will again voice the lead characters, setting fans up for more catchy tunes.

  • Is ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Really the Last Film? ‘It’s Not Up to Us,’ Says Anna Kendrick

The Barden Bellas are going out on a high note in “Pitch Perfect 3,” but is it really the end? Not everyone is ready to say goodbye.

“Today” show on Monday, and when host Hoda Kobt asked about the comedy-musical film series ending, the actress seemed unwilling to close that chapter of her life.

“I mean, you know, it’s not up to us,” she said of the series’ future. “If it were up to us, it would be like, 4, 5, 6, 7.”

Although Kendrick and her co-stars sound willing to do more of the films, like she said, it’s not up to them. The film has been billed as a farewell all along, and the cast and crew have been “treating it like the ending,” according to Kendrick. For her, that meant filming the end of the film was “so emotional.” In fact, they were all so “in [their] feelings” during the final scene that director Elizabeth Banks had to tell them to lighten up and “send out the audience on a high.”

Of course, many projects don’t truly end these days, and Kendrick alluded to the possibility of a return at some point in the future.

“We wanted to make it a satisfying ending, if it is the ending. … Hopefully, we will get to work together again someday,” she said.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see it. Until then, watch the interview below.

“Pitch Perfect 3” hits theaters Dec. 22.

  • ‘Trolls 2’ Is Coming in 2020, Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick to Return

trolls, trolls 2, poppy, branch, justin timberlake, anna kendrickAs Justin Timberlake’s Oscar-nominated earworm declared, you can’t stop the feeling, and apparently, you can’t stop the “Trolls” franchise, either: The series will continue with “Trolls 2,” which studio DreamWorks officially announced on Tuesday.

In a Twitter post, DreamWorks revealed that the sequel to the hit 2016 animated flick about the lovable dolls with wacky hair is due out on April 10, 2020, and it will feature the return of the first film’s two biggest stars. Justin Timberlake is set to reprise his role as Branch, while Anna Kendrick will be back as Poppy.

No additional intel about the follow-up has been revealed just yet, though we imagine that Timberlake will once again be contributing some original music to the flick. The singer-actor was nominated for an Academy Award this year for the tune “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” which he performed to open the now-infamous ceremony. (A performance that included a reunion with his onetime “Mickey Mouse Club” costar, Ryan Gosling.)

Also unclear right now is just how many other original stars will also return. In addition to Timberlake and Kendrick, the flick’s starry voice cast also included Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Russell Brand, Zooey Deschanel, Jeffrey Tambor,Christine Baranski, James Corden, and Gwen Stefani.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

While the “Pitch Perfect” series became an unlikely hit after bowing in 2012 — the 2015 sequel, “Pitch Perfect 2,” went on to gross more than double the first film’s haul, making a third flick a no-brainer — it’s had a bit of a bumpy ride lately. First, “PP2” helmer Elizabeth Banks was set to return to the director’s chair, but a release date change caused some scheduling issues, and Banks eventually bailed on the job. Then, after a production delay caused by Banks’s departure, the release date changed again. Director Trish Sie (“Step Up: All In“) eventually took over directing duties in September, putting the flick back on track.

With Sie in place and the cast assembled, it looks like it’s finally full steam ahead for “PP3.” We’re aca-excited to see what’s in store for the Bellas this time around.

“Pitch Perfect 3” opens on December 22.
