  • Watch History Come Alive in Our Exclusive ‘Selma’ Featurette (VIDEO)

This weekend “Selma,” a film centered on the 1965 voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery led by Martin Luther King Jr. (played by David Oyelowo), finally opens nationwide, and you should be very excited indeed. This is one of the very best films of the year, a historical eye-opener that is also a profound character study and as much a reflection on race relations in 2015 as it is in 1965 (sadly). And if you needed another reason to get excited about seeing “Selma,” well why don’t you check out our exclusive featurette?

Time and time again in the two-minute montage, which features footage from the film as well as behind-the-scenes interviews with cast members and creative principles (including the film’s dazzling director, Ava DuVernay), the point is reiterated that “Selma” isn’t a movie about Martin Luther King Jr. the legendary civil rights leader, it’s about Martin Luther King, Jr. the man. And it’s true — the movie is beautiful and nuanced and will rip your heart out, especially given the recent racial unrest in our country.

But this makes the film seem oppressively bleak and heavy; it’s not. “This is the story we’ve never seen before,” Oyelowo says in the featurette. And he’s right. This isn’t some history lesson, and not just because the MLK Jr. estate, notoriously controlling when it comes to representations of the slain civil rights leader, didn’t let the production use any of his actual words (meaning that the filmmakers had to come up with speeches and dialogue that sounded like he’d say it but weren’t actually his). This is a living, breathing, fully realized dramatization and an absolute must-see. So, after you watch the featurette, buy your tickets for this weekend right here on Moviefone. • ‘Jurassic Parks and Recreation’ Is the Chris Pratt Mash-Up You’ve Been Waiting For (VIDEO)

    Jurassic Parks and Recreation
Chris Pratt has transformed himself from the affable Andy Dwyer on “Parks and Recreation” into a bona fide action star, thanks to high-profile turns in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and this summer’s upcoming “Jurassic World.” Now, one enterprising YouTuber has combined those elements into one awesome mash-up trailer.

“Jurassic Parks and Recreation” offers audiences a chance to see Andy Dwyer transferred from Pawnee, Indiana to Isla Nublar, where he works for the recently-opened Jurassic World. Unfortunately for Andy, his laidback approach to life doesn’t really work well when there’s a dangerous hybrid dinosaur on the loose, leading to some awkward moments — and comedy gold.

Check out the mash-up (which uses the “Jurassic World” trailer as a frame in which clips from “Parks and Recreation” are inserted) below, and try not to be too disappointed that the real movie probably won’t feature any of Andy’s hijinks. Could someone send this to director Colin Trevorrow and see if he’d be willing to re-cut the film?

  • ‘Good Kill’ Trailer: Ethan Hawke Fights With Drones

Good KillMachines are taking over every aspect of our lives – including war. Battles these days are fought from thousands of miles away, and guns have been replaced by computers. Many soldiers’ lives are saved, but at what cost?

That’s the question posed in the trailer for “Good Kill,” which stars Ethan Hawke as a former fighter pilot who now flies drones. He can obliterate enemies from the comfort of his trailer in Las Vegas, then go home to his beautiful house, beautiful wife (January Jones), and beautiful kids.

But Hawke wrestles with the moral implications of what he’s doing. “Don’t ask me if it’s a just war. That’s not up to us. To us, it’s just war,” his boss (Bruce Greenwood) shrugs.

“Good Kill” screened at the Venice and Toronto film festivals, and will open in theaters sometime in 2015.

  • Marvel Teases ‘Ant-Man’ With Ant-Sized & Human-Sized Trailers (VIDEO)

We won’t get a full teaser trailer for Marvel’s “Ant-Man” until Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean that the marketing folks at Marvel HQ aren’t going to have some fun with audiences first.

The studio debuted a pair of mini teaser trailers for the flick this weekend in both ant- and human-sized form, with the former clip better suited for a small being’s eyes, and the latter a more normal YouTube-viewable format. When magnified to human-sized, the teaser really comes into focus, featuring short glimpses of Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas all in action as their respective comic alter egos.

Just how the trio all fit together remains to be seen, though we’re expecting a bit more intel from the full teaser, which is due to debut during “Agent Carter” on Tuesday. Check out the clips below, and tune in to ABC tomorrow night for a closer look.
