  • New ‘Minions’ Trailer: Going to Work For Scarlet Overkill

MinionsIf you’re a minion looking for a new evil overlord, where would you go to find one? Orlando, of course!

Another new trailer is out for “Minions,” which is just as cute as the first one and the Super Bowl spot. Seriously, watching these adorable creatures try to be bad is just, well, adorable.

This second, full-length trailer lays out the story: Kevin, Bob, and Stu hitch a ride to Orlando for Villain Con, the world’s biggest gathering of evildoers. At first, they find their evil talents aren’t exactly inspiring potential employers – as one snarks, “That’s not evil or a talent” – until they meet Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock). She is exactly the kind of monster they’ve been waiting for, but are they the kind of minions who will help her … or (accidentally) bring her down?

“Minions” brings its cute to theaters July 10.

  • ‘Terminator: Genisys’ Super Bowl Trailer Features Arnold & Action Galore (VIDEO)

    Terminator: Genisys
A new TV spot for “Terminator: Genisys” is fast-paced, action-packed, and chock full of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The short clip features Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) directing the original Terminator (Schwarzenegger) to arm himself, and also has a shot of Schwarzenegger’s memorable (naked) entrance from the first flick. There’s also a school bus flipping over, and a few brief glimpses of the new bad guy, who takes a cue from “Terminator 2” and emerges from some flames.

It all goes by pretty quickly, though judging by all the callbacks to the original series, we’re guessing “Genisys” is more about fan service than plot. Catch the clip below, and see it debut on the airwaves during the Super Bowl on February 1.

“Terminator: Genisys” is due in theaters on July 1.

  • ‘Insurgent’ Super Bowl Trailer: Shailene Woodley Takes on Kate Winslet (VIDEO)

    Insurgent
MTV has debuted a new trailer for “Insurgent” that features heroine Tris (Shailene Woodley) attempting to break free from the clutches of Jeanine (Kate Winslet).

Unfortunately for Tris, her prison appears to be all in her head, and when she lunges at her captor, everything around her (literally) shatters and she’s thrown into the void. A neat visual, it also serves as a metaphor for the entire “Divergent” series: Tris’s world will never be the same, and she’s currently adrift in uncertainty.

Check out the clip below, and catch it on TV during the Super Bowl on February 1.

“The Divergent Series: Insurgent” is due in theaters on March 20.

  • Watch the New ‘Ted 2’ Trailer and Laugh Your @$% Off

ted 2 trailerSeth MacFarlane learned a valuable lesson last year when he unleashed his hugely expensive flop “A Million Ways to Die in the West” last summer: that he should make another “Ted.” And he did. “Ted 2” will be out on June 26th, 2015, and the first rude, crude trailer has just been unleashed on an unsuspecting world (that’s the new poster, just below it).

It’s pretty much everything that you would expect, and not much more. If you’ve seen the original film, about a grown man (played by Mark Wahlberg, who returns here) and his complicated relationship with the talking teddy bear from his childhood named Ted (MacFarlane, with a goopy Boston accent), then you know all you really need to know about “Ted 2,” which sees Amanda Seyfried in place of Mila Kunis, who is also joined by Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman. Not too shabby.

After watching the trailer, are you ready to make another profane play date with Ted, or have you left it behind, like so many other toys?

  • Watch the Trailer for Tom Hardy’s Cold War Thriller ‘Child 44’ (VIDEO)

Tom Hardy has never met a funny accent that he hasn’t fallen wildly in love with. His latest is a gruff Russian number for “Child 44,” a new film based on Tom Rob Smith’s best-selling historical thriller that follows a former secret policeman (Hardy) who is investigating a series of grisly child murders in Soviet Russia. And you can hear that accent and see Hardy in action in the gripping new trailer.

“Child 44” is based, in part, on a real life serial killer dubbed the Red Ripper who murdered more than 50 women and children in Stalin’s supposedly perfect Russia. Hardy plays a man who is clued into the killer after a friend’s child is murdered. This looks really intense. The all-star supporting cast includes Gary Oldman (Batman reunion!), Joel Kinnaman, Vincent Cassel (glimpsed briefly in the trailer), Paddy Considine, Jason Clarke, Noomi Rapace (re-teaming with Hardy after “The Drop”) and Dev Patel. It was directed by Chilean-Swedish filmmaker Daniel Espinosa (“Safe House”) and adapted by the great Richard Price, a stellar novelist in his own right. Soviet Russia is a fascinating place to set any kind of movie, but a hardboiled thriller like this seems downright perfect.

Should the movie prove successful, it could be a rare franchise for adults, since the Hardy character took center stage in two more books written by Smith (“The Secret Speech” and “Agent 6”). We’ll all find out when “Child 44” opens on April 17th.

  • ‘Knock Knock’ Trailer: While the Family’s Away, Keanu Reeves Will Play (VIDEO)

Knock KnockTwo soaking wet, hot, young women show up at your doorstep … it’s every guy’s fantasy, right? In director Eli Roth’s “Knock Knock,” though, that dream turns into a nightmare for Keanu Reeves.

The first teaser trailer for the movie is out, and it doesn’t show much beyond the set-up. Colleen Camp and Sondra Locke play two giggling girls who get caught in the rain and turn to Reeves’s family man for help. His wife and kids are away, and at first, it seems Reeves has lucked into a very sexy encounter. But as the ominous tone of the trailer indicates, something just isn’t right about these women.

“Knock Knock” debuted at the Sundance Film Festival last week, and should hit theaters sometime in 2015.

  • ‘The Fantastic Four’ Trailer: Be Ready for What’s Coming (VIDEO)

the fantastic four trailer 2015The long-awaited first teaser trailer for the reboot of “The Fantastic Four” is here, and it suggests a darker tone for the Marvel property than the previous film incarnations.

The teaser was very much in the style of Christopher Nolan — highly reminiscent of teasers for “Interstellar” — with an ominous voice warning, “Human beings have an immeasurable desire to discover … [But] with every new discovery there is risk,” as images flash of Reed Richards (Miles Teller) in a high-tech lab, Sue Storm (Kate Mara) working in front of a bank of computer terminals, and some kind of ship preparing to take off.

Along with Teller and Mara, there are brief glimpses of Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell displaying the superpowers they gain after some kind of experiment/space flight seems to go wrong.

From the teaser, it looks like Josh Trank’s “Fantastic Four” will sit seamlessly beside other Marvel films — at least aesthetically. The movie opens in theaters on Aug. 7.

  • New ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Footage Pops Up in Ellie Goulding Soundtrack Cut (VIDEO)

New ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Footage Pops Up in Ellie Goulding Soundtrack Cut (VIDEO)

    Universal

British pop star Ellie Goulding hasn’t had a proper album released since 2012, but since then the artist has appeared on the soundtracks to “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” “The Host,” “About Time,” “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” “Divergent,” and, perhaps most memorably, over the closing credits to stone cold masterpiece “Spring Breakers.” Her latest contribution to her ever-growing soundtrack compendium is a new track for the hotly anticipated “Fifty Shades of Grey,” opening on February 13th.

The track, an unbelievably catchy number called “Love Me Like You Do,” has an accompanying music video and said music video features ballroom dancing, Goulding walking around in a black leather jacket, and, oh yeah, brand new footage from the movie (starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan). Don’t worry, it’s totally safe for work. The soundtrack, which also features cuts from The Weeknd, Annie Lennox, and Sia, will be out on February 10th.
