  • ‘Avengers 4’ Starts Filming: What Does This First Image Mean?

Avengers: Infinity War“Avengers 4” has begun filming and The Russo Brothers shared this cryptic image of a glove on Facebook with the message, “Beginning the end.”

So what does it mean? Whose glove is it? (It certainly doesn’t look like Thanos’s Infinity Gauntlet. Or any piece of Iron Man’s outfit.) What does “the end” mean? *Gulp*

“Avengers 4,” which doesn’t yet have a subtitle, has been teased as a “game-changer” for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s the sequel to “Avengers: Infinity War,” which wrapped just before Comic-Con.

Anthony Russo (who is co-directing with brother Joe) told EW last year, “These two movies are intended to be the culmination of everything that has happened in the MCU since the very first Iron Man movie. … These movies are in some ways going to be an end to certain things, and in some ways, they’re going to be the beginning of certain things.”

Well, that’s as clear as mud.

But does this mean the end for Captain America? Chris Evans told EW in June that “Infinity War” and “Avengers 4” will “wrap up everything” and that it will round out his six film contract with Marvel.

Explained Evans: “I had six films in my Marvel contract, so I could have said after the third Avengers I was done, but they wanted to make the third and fourth Avengers films as a two-parter. They said they had so many other characters to fit in — Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Ant Man -– and couldn’t get them all into one movie … It made sense.”

Damn, we’ll hate to see Cap go!

“Avengers: Infinity War” opens May 4, 2018, and “Avengers 4” is set for May 3, 2019.

For what it’s worth, we haven’t yet (to the best of our recollection) seen Cap wear gloves like those featured in the photo. He favored fingerless gloves in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Civil War” and long red gloves in “The Avengers.”

  • Bask in This Epic Group Photo of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Black Panther’ Casts

Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther CastsBam! We are loving this group photo of the casts of “Black Panther” and “Thor: Ragnarok.”

This photo by The Hollywood Reporter was taken 30 minutes before the casts of the two Marvel movies took the stage at Hall H on Saturday at Comic-Con.

It was the first time many of the actors had met, including Tom Hiddleston (back as Loki in “Thor: Ragnarok”), who told “Get Out” star Daniel Kaluuya, “I’m a big fan.”

It was hard getting them all to stop hugging and shaking hands, THR reports. Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in “Black Panther” shook hands with Hiddleston, saying, “Nice meeting you, Tom. Now get your butts on the stage!” Yes, ma’am!

Danai Gurira summed up the shoot after giving co-star Lupita Nyong’o a hug: “This is a real family moment.”

The only missing star who already at Comic-Con: Tessa Thompson (warrior Valkyrie in the “Thor” sequel), who was tied up with back-to-back panels.

(We also would have liked to see Idris Elba, who returns as Heimdall in “Thor: Ragnarok,” as well as Angela Bassett, Sterling K. Brown, and Martin Freeman from “Black Panther.”)

From left to right, here’s everyone in the photo:

Back row (standing and seated): Jeff Goldblum, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Rachel House, Chris Hemsworth, director Taika Waititi, Marvel President Kevin Feige

Middle row: Karl Urban, Cate Blanchett, Chadwick Boseman, director Ryan Coogler, Danai Gurira, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o

Front row: (Seated): Daniel Kaluuya, Mark Ruffalo, Michael B. Jordan, Andy Serkis

“Thor: Ragnarok” opens November 3rd, 2017 and “Black Panther” on February 16, 2018

Reynolds also shared a photo on Instagram, saying, “The sun sets on day 1. Feels good to be back. This dog can hunt.”

  • Vanity Fair Unveils 4 ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Covers, Teases New Character Rose Tico

Bet you can’t wait to get your hands on the “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” issue of Vanity Fair.

The magazine features four collectible covers: The late Carrie Fisher looking regal as Leia; Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke (Mark Hamill); Resistance fighters Cameron Poe (Oscar Isaac), Finn (John Boyega) and new character Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran); and First Order villains Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson). Among those not pictured: Franchise newcomers Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern.

More on Rose Tico: Per the magazine, she’s a Resistance maintenance worker and has the most screen time of any newcomer in “Episode VIII.” Tran is a relative unknown, but her previous credits include the Netflix romcom “XoXo” and the web series “Ladies Like Us.”

It’s the first time we see Phasma with her helmet off, although that’s no guarantee we’ll also see her face in the film. Driver tells Vanity Fair that Kylo Ren’s wounds “go much deeper” than the dramatic new scar on his face.

Vanity Fair will release more details from the cover story Wednesday. As for the magazine itself, you can pick that up on newsstands in New York and Los Angeles on May 31, and nationally on June 6. Or you can buy each cover individually for $6.99 plus shipping.

  • See Amber Heard’s Photos From First Day on ‘Aquaman’ Set

Amber Heard Amber Heard shared a photo on Twitter of herself suited up for “Aquaman,” saying “Meet Mera. Day 1.” Director James Wan shared an equally stunning photo of the now red-haired actress as the sea goddess, aka Queen of Atlantis and Aquaman (Jason Momoa)’s wife.

Unless the color palette changes dramatically in the final film, Wan’s movie already looks a lot more colorful than the blue-and-gray tones of the same character in Zack Snyder‘s “Justice League.”

“Aquaman” opens on December 21, 2018. “Justice League” hits theaters on November 17, 2017.

Is it just us, or does Heard’s look here remind you of Batman villain Poison Ivy?

The actress also shared a photo on Instagram of herself in the make-up trailer while reading, natch, an Aquaman comic book.

  • New ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Concept Art Reveals Avengers Taking Sides

Hawkeye himself just revealed which side The Avengers are on in “Captain America: Civil War.”

Jeremy Renner tweeted pics that show the two teams preparing to face off in the sequel that hits theaters in 2016.

As expected, on Cap’s team is former BFF Bucky/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Sharon Carter (Emily Van Camp). Squint or you might miss Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) on Cap’s shoulder. And of course, Hawkeye himself is fighting with Cap, which Renner admitted in August at Wizard World Comic Con.
In Iron Man’s corner? Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Vison (Paul Bettany). See below:

That means each team has one woman (no word on the whereabouts of Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen), and that pals Black Widow and Hawkeye are on opposite sides. There’s no official word yet on how Spider-Man (Tom Holland) fits into this family quarrel.ComicBookMovie.com also shared exclusive images of the assembled teams.

“Civil War” hits theaters May 6, 2016.

  • Your First Look at Black Panther on the Set of Marvel’s ‘Civil War’

Comic book movie fans? You’re not gonna be disappointed in Black Panther on the big screen.

Images from the Berlin set of “Captain America: Civil War” leaked Wednesday via Instagram, giving us our first look at the Black Panther costume, albeit one worn by a stunt double.

The suit — which looks very similar to the concept art (above) that Marvel revealed in Fall 2014 — seems made out of a thick mesh (think the stuff under Batman’s armor plates in “The Dark Knight”) and accented with the character’s traditional claws and tribal-like necklace.

Even more interesting about this on-set photo? It shows Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman in the film, seemingly working alongside Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), aka The Winter Soldier.

Does that mean Black Panther isn’t as neutral as we were lead to believe? Are he and Winter Soldier teaming up to fight on Cap’s side?

We’ll find out when “Civil War” hits theaters May 2016.

  • Here’s a First Look at ‘The Hateful Eight’ Cast, Plus New Details

Jennifer Jason Leigh has a black eye and a busted-looking chin on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly, flanked by her “The Hateful Eight” co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell. Here’s the visual:

Meanest, grittiest, deadliest movie of the year? That’s quite a pitch. In the magazine, writer/director Quentin Tarantino‘ says “Hateful” will be more intimate than his last movies, “Django Unchained” and “Inglourious Basterds.” QT also said, “For me it has more of a Western ‘Iceman Cometh’ kind of vibe about it.” That doesn’t sound like a deadly action movie, but it’s intriguing.

The basic pitch, via EW is, “eight of the West’s nastiest gunslingers” are trapped in a “snowbound frontier way station, each wrapped in as many layers of deceit as they are clothing.” The movie is set a few years after the Civil War, with Kurt Russell playing bounty hunter John “The Hangman” Ruth, and Leigh as a fugitive named Daisy Domergue. He’s trying to take her to Red Rock to bring her to justice, but they take shelter during a blizzard and meet a whole cast of interesting characters. Samuel L. Jackson plays a former Union soldier turned bounty hunter named Major Marquis Warren. The cast also includes Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins, Bruce Dern, Demián Bichir and, supposedly, Channing Tatum.

A sort of teaser-ish type thing was released last month with a few early details. There’s no official U.S. release date yet, but it’s coming later this year. Will you be watching?
