Watch rising star Geraldine Viswanathan in the trailer for ‘The Broken Hearts Gallery’

Geraldine Viswanathan was seen by some as the breakout star of ‘Blockers’ in 2018, and since then, she’s appeared in some pretty prominent roles. Last year she played the high school reporter that brought fraud crashing down in ‘Bad Education’ and she played the title character in the critically acclaimed coming-of-age story ‘Hala.’

Now she’s the lead in romantic comedy about a woman who retains keepsakes from past relationships, which then inspires a sort of art movement in NYC. The film’s official synopsis describes the film this way:

What if you saved a souvenir from every relationship you’ve ever been in? The Broken Hearts Gallery follows the always unique Lucy (Viswanathan), a 20-something art gallery assistant living in New York City, who also happens to be an emotional hoarder. After she gets dumped by her latest boyfriend, Lucy is inspired to create The Broken Heart Gallery, a pop-up space for the items love has left behind. Word of the gallery spreads, encouraging a movement and a fresh start for all the romantics out there, including Lucy herself.

The film was written and directed by Natalie Krinsky, and Viswanathan’s co-stars include Dacre Montgomery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Molly Gordon, Phillipa Soo, Suki Waterhouse, and Bernadette Peters.

‘The Broken Hearts Gallery’ is scheduled to open on July 17.

First ‘Pokémon Detective Pikachu’ Trailer Is Finally Here

    WB

Ryan Reynolds doing his Deadpool schtick as the voice of Pikachu is what we need and deserve on a Monday.

Warner Bros. dropped the first trailer for “Pokémon Detective Pikachu” today, and fans are in for a treat.  The highly-anticipated movie, directed by Rob Letterman (“Goosebumps”) finally brings the little yellow guy to the big screen in live-action form. He joins actor Justice Smith, who plays Tim — the son of an ace detective who has gone missing and it’s up to Tim and his fuzzy, adorable Pokémon to find him in a world where Pokémon and humans co-exist. (Sort of like how ‘toons and humans lived together in  “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”)

Ken Watanabe also co-stars. Check out the trailer below.

The movie hits theaters May 10, 2019.

And it’s pure teaser here: No shots of Genie in action, but we do get some very familiar needle drops and a return trip to the VERY CG Cave of Wonders.

    See for yourself below:

    Yup. That’s definitely a tease.

Smith is joined by Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar.

The remake hits theaters May 24, 2019.

  • ‘Halloween’ Star Jamie Lee Curtis’ Favorite On-Set Moment May Surprise You

‘Halloween’ Star Jamie Lee Curtis’ Favorite On-Set Moment May Surprise You

    Blumhouse

Jamie Lee Curtis, the original Scream Queen, is back. And so is The Shape that’s haunted her for 40 years — Michael Myers.

Director David Gordon Green‘s “Halloween” picks up where John Carpenter’s 1978 original left off, with Curtis’ Laurie Strode now a grandmother suffering from the type of emotional trauma one would expect after having survived Michael’s killing spree.

But this older, extreme-survivalist version of Laurie is not a victim, and she’s much more than just a survivor, too, especially in how she turns the tables on Michael in the film’s nail-biter climax. This very timely and emotionally-charged take on the Strode character was not lost on either the star who plays her or on the film’s crew.

Moviefone recently sat down with Curtis, director Green, and producer Jason Blum (the head of Hollywood’s Horror Industrial Complex, Blumhouse) for an all-timer of an Unscripted, where Curtis revealed her favorite behind-the-scenes moment as she brought her iconic character back to the big screen.  Watch it below:

“Halloween” slashes into theaters Oct. 19.
