"Rome" could be viewed as an early test run for "Game of Thrones," as it’s another expensive, ambitious attempt to chronicle war and political upheaval in an ancient time. "Rome" only lasted two seasons, but it managed to tell a compelling story about the struggles of two ordinary Centurians set against the backdrop of some of the most famous events in Roman history.
