Laurie’s American accent was so convincing that "House" producer Bryan Singer hired the then-45-year-old without knowing he was English — even though he’d been a celebrated TV sketch comic alongside Stephen Fry in England for nearly two decades. After "House," Laurie took time off from acting to focus on his career as a blues musician, but he reappeared in 2015 in the movie "Veep." Besides "The Night Manager," Laurie, 56, has another TV starring role lined up, playing another sleuthing doctor in the Hulu drama series "Chance," due later this year.
