10. ‘Six Degrees’ (2006 – 2007)

This underrated Abrams-produced drama was an illustration of the Kevin-Bacon-game idea that no one is more than six degrees of separation away from anyone else.

Here, it’s six New York City strangers from various walks of life, connected by a web of fate, coincidence, and a common need to forge connections with others in this lonely world. It had a great cast (including Campbell Scott, Hope Davis, Bridget Moynahan, and Erika Christensen) and a lot of potential, but it never drew an audience, and ABC axed it after just eight episodes.
