Co-created by Abrams, Fox’s "Fringe" began as an "X-Files"-type procedural about an FBI agent investigating new examples of inexplicable sci-fi weirdness every week. However, it soon evolved into an imaginative exploration of parallel universes and alternate timelines. In fact, "Fringe" offered some of TV’s biggest mind-blowing moments this side of "Lost." Bonus points for having, like so many Abrams shows, a strong female protagonist, Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv).
